Resumo
The experiment was carried out in a field at the Londrina State University, Londrina, Pr., Brazil, during 1986, to determine differences of infestations and periods of high activity of the lesser cornstalk borer Elasmopalpus lignosellus (Zeller, 1848) in wheat cultivated with conventional tillage and grass mulch. It was observed that the grass mulch reduced significantly the number of injured plants by the lesser cornstalk borer and its periods of high activity ocurred in February, March, April and July.
O experimento foi desenvolvido em 1986, no Campus da Universidade Estadual de Londrina, Pr., com o objetivo de se quantificar diferenças nas infestações e determinar períodos de maior atividade da lagarta elasmo Elasmopalpus lignosellus (Zeller, 1848) em trigo cultivado convecionalmente e com cobertura morta. Observou-se que a cobertura morta causou uma redução significativa no número de plantas atacadas, e a maior atividade da lagarta elasmo ocorreu nos meses de fevereiro, março, abril e julho.
