Resumo
The present paper is a summary of twenty-year data about the nectar flow in Pindamonhangaba, São Paulo State (Latitude 2257 S, Longitude 4527 W and Altitude 560m). The method used in the evaluations was the one that weights the hives maintained on platform balances. The changes in the hive weight were periodically registered. It was possible to verify that the studied region presents two nectar flow periods in the year. The first, lasting from February to half May, is the most important; and the second one, from half July to September, is less intensive. The dearth periods occur from June lo half July and from October to January. The second one being more severe and extended. lt was also noticed that this situation remained practically unchangeable since the fírst survey was made in the region.
O presente trabalho é o resultado de 20 anos de observação sobre o fluxo nectarífero na região de Pindamonhangaba, SP (Latitude 2257S, Longitude 4527 W e Altitude de 560m). O método utilizado nas avaliações foi o da pesagem de colmeias mantidas permanentemente sobre balanças, sendo registradas, periodicamente, as variações no seu peso. Pode-se verificar que a região estudada apresenta dois períodos de secreção nectarífera durante o ano, sendo o primeiro e mais importante, do início de fevereiro a meados de maio e o segundo, de menor intensidade, de meados de Julho a final de setembro. Os períodos de escassez ocorrem do início de junho a meados de julho e de outubro a janeiro (mais intenso e prolongado). Constatou-se ainda que esta situação permaneceu praticamente inalterada desde os primeiros levantamentos realizados na região.
