RESUMO
Considerando os apontamentos da literatura de que o transtorno mental materno constitui um importante fator de riscopara o desenvolvimento emocional dos filhos, o presente estudo objetivou identificar a percepção de mães com transtornomental e de seus filhos, a respeito de sua realidade, focalizando aspectos relativos ao transtorno mental materno, ao cuidadodispensado às crianças e a autopercepção das mesmas. Foram participantes quatro crianças de 7 a 12 anos e suas mães.Os instrumentos utilizados foram Roteiros de entrevistas semiestruturados, aplicados junto às mães e às crianças e a MiniInternational Neuropsychiatric Interview (MINI), aplicada junto às mães. Os principais resultados indicam que as criançasrecebem apoio dos familiares em seu cotidiano, desempenham o papel de cuidadores e fornecem suporte emocional àssuas mães nos momentos de crises advindas do transtorno mental; identificam o que consideram bom e difícil em suasvidas e se autodescrevem a partir de aspectos como retraimento e tristeza.(AU)
ABSTRACT
Considering observations in the literature that maternal mental disturbances constitute an important risk factor for the emotionaldevelopment of children, the present study aims to identify the perception of mothers with mental disturbances andtheir children regarding this reality, focusing on aspects concerning maternal mental disturbances, care given to childrenand their self-perception. Subjects were four children from 7 to 12 years of age and their mothers. The used instrumentswere scripts for semi-structured interviews applied to the mothers and the children and the Mini International NeuropsychiatricInterview (MINI), applied to the mothers. The main results indicate that children receive support from familymembers in daily life, play the role of carers and offer emotional support to their mothers at moments of crises caused bymental disturbances; they identify what they consider good and difficult in their lives and describe themselves in terms ofaspects such as withdrawal and sadness.(AU)
