This paper refers to research carried out on the comprehensive health care of the woman who is the experience of the period called for the medical knowledge as climacteric. The interest is particularized in the experience of the phenomenon of menopause, contained in that period, through research on how this phenomenon has been addressed in public policy for comprehensive care to women's health, in force in Brazil in 2015. The starting point was through a study perspective anchored in social theory of Pierre Bourdieu, attend us in some of its concepts, seeking to relate a critical reading of the content of the National Policy for Integral Attention to Women's Health with feminist studies that clarify on social gender relations. For this, there was documentary analysis, which was to field research the content of the National Policy for Integral Attention to Women's Health, with regard to the approach of the menopause experience and health care to women who experience it. The main findings are highlighted that the approach to women experiencing menopause is proposed to consider comprehensive care, but operationalized as vertical models of program activities, yet circumscribing women's health reproduction issues.
