The main objective of this work is to analyze the satirical language in the work The Bruzundangas (1922) by Afonso Henriques de Lima Barreto (1881-1922). For that, we will use three fundamental riddles, namely, first the barretiano context and theoretical and practices influences of the writer Lima Barreto. Second, the etymological pursuit of word satire and the study of the origin of the literary genre called satirical with a lot of concentration in this historical bias and the third and final the application of the first two chapters as helpers in the analysis of language in satirical in the work which would be the last work to be produced. Theorists who are mostly used in each chapter are Francisco de Assis Barbosa (1914-1991), into of first, Mikhail Mikhailovich Bakhtin (1895-1975) and Herman Northrop Frye (1912-1991) for the second, and the third they all will be taken up along with several passages and moments in which the writer carioca hinself will underpin in your artwork and thus demonstrate their artistic coherence, and then, between life and work. But also still see with their postulates, other authors such as Henri Bergson (1859-1941), Alfredo Bosi (1936 -), João Adolfo Hansen (1942 -), and they all help to draw a historical thread of reason that, at first you catch the clip of the life of Lima Barreto and his evolution as a person and artist, and a second stage, the evolution of satire - first as a word and as a literary genre - from some satirical works of universal character those also entered the utopian/dystopian genre and, all that will be analyzed, with the primary aim of understanding the satirical language Afonso Henriques de Lima Barreto (1881-1922) in his final work, the Bruzundangas (1922 ).
