A Replication Randomized Controlled Trial of an Awareness, Courage, and Love Intervention. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of a one session online intervention based on the Awareness, Courage and Love Model from Functional Analytic Psychotherapy to promote intimacy in couples during the COVID-19 pandemic. A sample of seventeen couples (dyads) from Argentina, older than 18 years old that were cohabitating in a situation of social distancing during the COVID-19 were randomly allocated into either the intervention or control group for a single 2-hour online group session. Both groups responded to two instruments that assessed the studied variables in three moments (pre, post and follow up). For data analysis it was used Generalized Estimation Equations to compare the change scores over time between the groups. The experimental group obtained a higher score in the VDs and the differences were maintained at one week of follow-up. The preliminary findings support the efficacy of this short intervention to foster closeness and intimacy in couples during situations of social isolation (AU)

Mirad los lirios del campo (1947): enfoque axiológico de una novela filmada / Consider the lilies of the field (1947): axiological approach of a filmed novel

Este filme argentino fue rodado en 1947 a partir de la novela brasileña homónima, cuyo título extracta un fragmento del Sermón de la Montaña. Más allá de los significados que apóstoles y filósofos cristianos otorgan al imperativo de mirar los lirios del campo, la novela y el filme exceden el de prescindir de las necesidades mundanas y proveen valiosas enseñanzas axiológicas para el ejercicio profesional y la vida cotidiana, ligadas todas a otros disvalores y valores. De tal modo, condenan las ambiciones vanas y el incumplimiento de un compromiso por ventajoso que resulte y, en contraste, rescatan la vida austera desprovista de lujos innecesarios, la redención personal y la paternidad responsable. This Argentinean film was shot in 1947 from the homonymous Brazilian novel, whose title extracts a fragment of the Sermon on the Mount. Beyond the meanings given by Christian apostles and philosophers to the imperative of considering the lilies of the field, the novel and the film exceed that of not worrying on worldly needs and provide valuable axiological teachings for professional practice and daily life, all linked to other disvalues and values. In this regard, they condemn vain ambitions and the breach of a commitment, however advantageous it may be, and, in contrast, rescue the austere life devoid of unnecessary luxuries, personal redemption and responsible parenthood (AU)

Valores, costumbres y estructuras familiares en 1901: una mirada a los cuidados culturales actuales / Values, customs and family structures in 1901: a look at the current cultural care

La actual dinámica social hace que el cuidado de enfermería se convierta en un desafío permanente, pues debe considerar las continuas transformaciones de los aspectos socioculturales de las personas para ofrecer unos cuidados de calidad. Sin embargo, hay personas que mantienen creencias, normas y prácticas familiares tradicionales que pasan de generación en generación. Una forma de explorar estas es a través del análisis de fuentes documentales históricas. Este estudio propone conocer las creencias, tradiciones, prácticas y estructuras familiares de la comarca del Bierzo (León, España) en 1901. Utilizaremos para ello, como referente documental, las respuestas dadas acerca del “Matrimonio” en la “Encuesta del Ateneo de Madrid” de 1901. Esta encuesta recogía las creencias, tradiciones y prácticas de la sociedad de la época en todo el territorio nacional, aunque, en este caso concreto, nos limitemos a la comarca del Bierzo. Esta profundización en el conocimiento holístico ayudaría a que las enfermeras puedan planificar y ejecutar intervenciones donde los pacientes se sientas valorados y tratados como seres únicos y respetados considerando sus características de individualidad y sus contextos particulares

Current social dynamics make nursing care a permanent challenge since it must consider the continuous transformations of the sociocultural aspects of people to offer quality care. However, some people maintain traditional family beliefs, norms and practices that are passed from generation to generation. One way to explore these is through the analysis of historical documentary sources. This study proposes to know the beliefs, traditions, practices and family structures of the Bierzo region (León, Spain) in 1901. We will use, as a documentary reference, the answers given about the "Marriage" in the "Survey of the Ateneo of Madrid" of 1901. This survey collected the beliefs, traditions and practices of the society of that period throughout the national territory. However, in this specific case, we limit the information to the Bierzo region. This deepening of holistic knowledge would help nurses to plan and execute interventions where patients feel valued and treated as unique and respected beings considering their characteristics and their particular contexts

El valor y la dignidad de la vida terminal. Prolegómenos filosóficos para una crítica de la eutanasia / The value and dignity of terminal life. Philosophical prolegomena for a critique of eutanasia

La actitud que se adopte sobre la licitud de la eutanasia depende de la posición que se mantenga acerca del valor y la dignidad de la vida humana terminal. Los debates morales en nuestro tiempo adolecen de una anomalía derivada de la falta de posiciones básicas compartidas por los que intervienen en ellos. Sin embargo, no es imposible, aunque sí difícil, mantenerlos. Sobre la dignidad de la vida humana disputan, al menos, dos actitudes. Para una, la dignidad de la vida depende del mantenimiento de alguna cualidad decisiva, como la autonomía, la autodeterminación o la ausencia de sufrimientos intensos. Para otra, la dignidad, inherente a la persona desde su nacimiento hasta su muerte, no depende de ninguna cualidad o propiedad. Para ella, el sufrimiento no constituye una negación de la dignidad de la vida. Esta última resulta filosóficamente más correcta. En cualquier caso, no debe dejarse de lado la distinción entre la moral y el derecho

The attitude we adopt towards the lawfulness of euthanasia depends on our position on the value and dignity of the life of the terminal ill patient. Contemporary moral debates lacks of a shared basic position, but it is not impossible to discuss. On human dignity there are two attitudes. For one of them, dignity depends on maintaining of one decisive quality, as autonomy, autodetermination or lack of intense suffering. For the other conception of dignity, it does not depend on any attribute of human life. Sufferance is not a refutation of dignity. This second idea of dignity is more correct in philosophical terms. Anyway, the difference between law and moral must be taken into account
