RESUMO

The study highlights the concept of education-family conflict, where educational roles clash with familial obligations, negatively affecting the sense of coherence and social acceptance of married female students. Previous studies have highlighted the increasing tendency of married women to pursue higher education and career advancement, which would emphasize the need for psychological interventions to support them. The study introduces Positive-Cognitive Behavioral Group Therapy (PCBGT) as a novel intervention to address these concerns. Based on their education-family conflict scores, sense of coherence, and social acceptance, sixty married female students (aged 25-35) were purposively selected and equally assigned to experimental and control groups. The experimental group engaged in eight weekly 90-minute PCBGT sessions. Data were analyzed using One-way ANOVA with repeated measures. The findings underscore PCBGT's potential to empower students, enhancing their sense of coherence, manageability, meaningfulness, and social acceptance, persisting up to three months post-intervention. PCBGT enhances the sense of coherence by helping individuals recognize and apply their signature strengths, manage emotions, cultivate self-acceptance, and develop a more comprehensive and meaningful outlook on life. It also fosters social acceptance by promoting self-compassion, identifying strengths, regulating emotions, and enhancing interpersonal skills through structured sessions, ultimately improving individuals’ interactions and relationships. However, further investigation is necessary to comprehensively understand how PCBGT influences the sense of coherence and social acceptance among married female students managing education-family conflict. RESUMO

Objective: This study aims to explore the impact of group therapy, incorporating physical games for happiness perception training, on the psychological well-being and physical fitness of healthcare professionals and patients with depression in a psychosomatic ward. The focus is to provide a comprehensive understanding of the role of physical activity in enhancing therapeutic outcomes in clinical nursing. Methods: The study gathered data from 12 group-led nurses, 12 depressed patients participating in group therapy, and 6 supervising physicians in a large tertiary general hospital's psychosomatic ward in Sichuan Province. Utilizing the phenomenological method in qualitative research, we collected insights into the participants' psychological experiences and the role of physical games in therapy. The Colaizzi 7-step analysis method was employed to process and synthesize the data, with an added focus on physical fitness aspects. Results: Analysis revealed three core themes – "gains, opinions or ideas," and ten minor themes, including "releasing stress, managing emotions, minimizing suicidal ideation, and enhancing physical fitness." Participants reported significant improvements in emotional well-being, stress relief, and physical health due to the integration of physical activities into the group therapy sessions. Conclusion: The inclusion of physical games in group therapy for happiness perception training has dual benefits for patients with depression and healthcare professionals: psychological support and improvement in physical fitness. Clinical nursing staff should promptly provide appropriate health guidance, adjust group content and schedule, and incorporate physical fitness elements to enhance the quality of group therapy. This approach not only aids in active patient participation in treatment but also promotes holistic physical and mental health recovery, underscoring the importance of physical activity in psychological rehabilitation (AU)

Long Covid symptoms appear in 1-2 out of 10 people infected by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. They may well present severe difficulties when it comes to adapting to their new health condition. On the one hand this article presents a Psychological group treatment for patients with Long Covid symptoms based on the well-known acceptance and commitment therapy. The content of psychotherapy session after session has been briefly described. What’s more, the formal aspects for both its correct implementation and the possibility of replication have also been detailed. On the other hand, the methodological characteristics of a randomized controlled trial are described. This includes: pre-post experimental design with two treatment modalities assigned ran-domly; sample inclusion and exclusion criteria; patient recruitment and randomisation; procedure and instruments of evaluation and analysis and statistical contrast of the results. The developed protocol aims to evaluate, in a methodologically rigorous manner, the effectivity of an intervention that specifically aspires to improve psychosocial functioning and life quality of people suffering from Long Covid symptoms. The results will allow us to know if this treatment has been objectively successf.(AU)

RESUMO

Evidence for treatment effects of group-based Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) perpetrators programmes remains, at best, inconclusive. In the present review, systematic/meta-analytic reviews were used to identify randomised controlled trials and a meta-summary approach was employed to identify methodological challenges in the design and conduct of these trials. Of the fifteen studies identified, seven were comparative effectiveness trials. A range of methodological challenges were also identified by the trialists; source of outcome data, treatment modality, attrition and sample characteristics were the most frequently mentioned. Although there are only a few randomised controlled trials compared to non randomised studies, the findings of both highlight the need to invest in the development of innovative and/or combined IPV treatment programmes to address co-occurring issues such as substance use and trauma. The summary of methodological challenges will provide the first step in the development of methods guidance for researchers working in this area.(AU)

A randomized clinical trial was carried out with two treatment groups: one receiving cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and the other with the inclusion of emotional techniques (CEBT), both lasting 20 sessions. The sample consisted of 237 patients, all of them with principal diagnoses of anxiety disorders, and all referred by their general practitioners. There were significant improvements in symptomatology (anxiety trait, depression, clinical symptomatology), but the only significant difference found in the intergroup comparison was for the variable “subjective life satisfaction” (p = .017), which was greater in the CEBT group. This group also displayed better adherence to the treatment program (p = .019). This reinforces the case for including group therapy treatment with emotional components in primary care settings, highlighting the importance of emphasizing self-esteem.(AU)

Introduction: We describe the experience of a multi-family group, directed at young people affected by their first psychotic crisis and their social networks, in a real clinical environment within the Spanish national health system, based on the Open Dialogue philosophy, in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Method: three families and three mental health professionals took part in the study. Instruments: SCORE-15, SWLS, CSQ-8 and a list of themes that appear in the dialogues. Results: both the five subjects and the facilitators perceive an improvement in the level of family functioning and the usefulness of the therapy; only one of the subjects reports an improvement in the level of life satisfaction at the end of the group; we observe high satisfaction on the part of the participants with the care received in the group. Discussion: the strength of this study is its ecological validity. The results obtained, and the synergies developed in the multifamily meetings described here, demonstrate that different methods more aligned with the principles of Open Dialogues are now possible with the resources available in our clinical context (AU)

(AU)

The predominant biological paradigm has led to a crisis both of psychopathology (in the sense that it does not take into account subjectivity) and of diagnostic systems (DSM). The Operative Group Therapy (OGT) is proposed as an alternative to this biomedical paradigm, since it tends to overmedicate psychic suffering. In contrast, OGT, based on the biopsychosocial paradigm, considers subjectivity in psychopathology and thinks about subjective psychopathology in a more complex way. This model, in our opinion, should be taken into account in the training of mental health professionals for its potential to improve clinical practice. (AU)

(AU)

In defense of psychoanalytic psychotherapy, I will talk about a group experience which lasted 10 months, was developed in public assistance in mental health, and was published under the title Psicoterapia en grupo paralelo de madres y padres. Focalizando en la función parental. The parallel groups of children and parents sometimes help to cure, others help to stop and deactivate involutionary and deteriorating situations, and, in general, contribute to create a more stable mental order, which prevents serious personality disorders. They offer considerable comparative advantages to public mental health professionals regarding approach, diagnosis and therapy, as well as a high preventive value. I will share some observations, ideas, questions and suggestions that surround and frame my experience. (AU)

(AU)

Group psychotherapy in its different orientations and modalities has shown its usefulness to relieve and improve suffering of various kinds in different age ranges and psychopathological disorders. It represents a valuable exploratory, diagnostic and therapeutic instrument with a specific entity and its own specificity of intervention in the field of child mental health due to its preventive action for the mental health of future adults. The therapeutic potential of psychoanalytically oriented group psychotherapy with children is expanded with an active, creative, dynamic and therapeutic approach to play, whose therapeutic value is in turn enhanced by the therapeutic factors of group psychotherapy. It is proposed to extend the analysis of group discourse with the concept of group discourse of the game, a singular and unique discourse in each group that constitutes a central therapeutic axis in psychoanalytically oriented group psychotherapy with children who play. The implementation of group play psychotherapy requires theoretical bases on the technique of groups and play therapy with children, as well as a qualified training and the integration of knowledge, understanding and clinical experience of the therapist, to develop complex technical processes, essential in working with children in group psychotherapy.

Group analysis was born after a first experience of mutual analysis (T. Burrow) taken up by Foulkes as a group psychotherapeutic experience. It integrates sociological (Elias) and psychoanalytical (M. Klein, A. Freud, Jung) aspects, and more recently some elements of attachment theory (Bowlby, Marrone) and neuroscience (Golstein, Siegel). It is a model of thought that adjusts to various psychopathologies and care settings based on the analysis of the group carried out by all its members, professionals included. In this article some of the conceptual and clinical elements of a model introduced in Spain in 1976 by Campos and Guimón through training courses in the University of Deusto—OMIE Foundation are analyzed. It is a model that is used in various resources of the wide community network in which mental health is inserted, considering patients, families, and professionals as basic actors in an interpersonal network of mutual influences.

(AU)

The author's intention is to describe the stages of a group therapeutic process, from the beginning to the end. Some indicators, both objective and subjective ones, are proposed to identify each stage, as well as the passage from one to another. In addition, we point out that some stages are more therapeutic than others, although all of them are necessary to achieve the success of group process. Finally, the author wonders about the technical resources and the coordinator proposals based on their reference schemes and the articulation of a clinical approach with a psycho-social one. (AU)

(AU)

The excessive and complex demand for mental health services requires specific and adapted therapeutic settings. In the eighties Bauleo designs the “corredor terapéutico” setting. This paper deals with a review of this concept and the results of its implementation at the University Hospital of Guadalajara from 2012 to the present. It is concluded that the “corredor terapéutico” setting continues to be valid in the current context of public mental health assistance, since in the investigations we have carried out we have verified (among other results) that through this setting we can adequately attend to patients who demand psychotherapy in different group devices. In addition, from the 12th session on, the perception of group help and efficacy is high; and as the therapeutic process progresses, patients value factors that imply greater psychological change as more effective (assessed through the Zukerfeld Group Functioning Scale, EFG-25).

(AU)

The group device is a therapeutic and research instrument for the group operative conception. This work aims to be an open and reflective account from our experience in the care and institutional context of the Mental Health Day Hospital in which we work. We start from a conception of “subject” produced in a link network, being the first group the family group. Therefore, subjectivity, object of study, is determined historically, familiarly, and socially. Group psychotherapy, therapeutic coexistence, interdisciplinary teamwork and subjectivity are the starting points for the development of a group and institutional clinical practice in mental health assistance devices in the public sphere.

(AU)

Based on Pichon-Riviére's conceptions, we carried out an analysis of the difficulties and obstacles of group consolidation in the therapeutic groups of patients with severe psychosis in rehabilitation devices. We will address these difficulties by contemplating several aspects, the difficulty of being together, without forgetting the difficult journey of understanding suffering. Also, to be able to intervene in the groups keeping in mind countertransference, some therapeutic attitudes and some "pieces of advice" will be described, claiming the therapeutic group as an instrument of the necessary clinic of intimacy in psychosis.
