The purpose of this study was to design and validate an observation instrument for the analysis of the performance parameters related to the smash in padel. Eleven experts, who had to meet four of the five inclusion criteria, participated in the process. Aiken's V coefficient and confidence intervals were used to calculate content validity and Cronbach's α coefficient to analyze reliability. The adequacy and writing of the eighteen items initially designed were evaluated. Four variables were eliminated due to obtaining values <.87 in Aiken's V coefficient for adequacy. The rest of the variables were modified in their wording, according to the qualitative evaluations of the experts, or were considered correct. The reliability of the instrument was acceptable, (α=.82). The OASP instrument is very new, as it is of interest for analyzing the use and effectiveness of the padel smash. (AU)

Pickleball is a sport that combines several elements of tennis, badminton and table tennis. It is played on a court similar to the badminton court and the objective of the game is to hit the ball over a net similar to the tennis net. During these years, its popularity has grown substantially in the United States of America and it has been a sport played by people of different ages. It is important to know the different injuries that can occur in this sport in order to prevent and treat them. The aim is to perform a scoping review following the PRISMA-SCR guidelines to identify the main health problems and injury characteristics suffered in pickleball athletes. A total of 4 articles from different databases were found based on the keywords and boolean operators: ("Pickleball") AND ("injury" OR "injuries" OR "pathology*" OR "illness*" OR " disease*"). The most common injuries that occur are sprains and strains, and they tend to belong to the old age. However, more epidemiological studies about pickleball injuries are needed. Few studies have been found where the data sources show limitations to subsequently be able to carry out epidemiological studies with more precision. Even so, the scientific evidence is limited to provide applicable and conclusive results and more studies are needed on this topic in pickleball. (AU)

This study aims to analyse the winners and errors shot in professional padel according to gender, type of point and the point duration, observing the differences between winners and losers. For this 1927 points of 14 matches (7 male and 7 female category) from the World Padel Tour Master Final 2021 were analyzed, where participated 32 padel players (16 men players and 16 women players), using an ad-hoc instrument obtaining an inter-observer reliability above 0.9. The results show that the effectiveness depending on the gender (p = .001), where the male padel players perform 12% more winners than females padel players. Attending to the importance of the point, winning pairs perform 10% more winner shots than lossers, both in the male category (p=.002) and female (p= .004) in no key points. No differences exist in key points. Point duration affects to the shot effectiveness, specifically in medium duration points in male category (p=.026), and short duration points in female category (p=.007), with a higher winner shot produced by winning pairs. These results have a great practical application for coaches, providing information for the design of training programs similar to competitions situations. In addition, especific strategies can be develop during the matches according to the gender and the score.(AU)

(AU)
There is little literature on asymmetries in paddle tennis, a sport of an asymmetrical nature. To study the development of upper limb asymmetries, 96 young paddle players and 76 skiers (control group) were evaluated via bioimpedance. The lean mass symmetry index was then compared, considering the sport (paddle tennis players and skiers) and the maturity offset (positive or negative). Paddle-tennis players had a systematically greater upper limbs asymmetry than skiers (7.2 ± 5 % vs. 1.4 ± 3.2 %; p < 0.001). This also occurs when comparing only the subsamples with a negative maturity offset (5.7 ± 3.2 % vs. 1.5 ± 3.8 %; p < 0.001) or with a positive maturity offset (8.3 ± 5.8 % vs. 1.3 ± 2.4 %; p < 0.001). The study reveals that paddle tennis generates asymmetries of lean mass in upper limbs, even before growth spurt. (AU)

(AU)
The main objective was to analyze the sequence of the last two shots of the point in padel and to make a classification through the multivariate decision tree approach. A total of 2110 game actions were analyzed. The variables analyzed were: shot, court zone, efficiency, direction, match outcome and side court. Matches were analyzed through systematic observation. The results determined that maintain net positions during the last two shots would increase the probabilities of victory, observing that the most frequent sequence of the last two shots were groundstroke-volley and lob-smash. In addition, winners make the highest number of winning points on the net and the least number of errors at the baseline. On the other hand, the use of cross-court shots will increase the chances of a opponents error. These data have an important practical application in the perceptive and decisional training and the feedback application by the coach. (AU)

To investigate the psychological effects of badminton on students. This study examines badminton's impact on college students' psychological regulation using mathematical statistics, a questionnaire survey, and a review of the relevant literature. The exercise Rating Scale (PARS-3) and the self-rating scale of physical and mental symptoms were used to conduct a quantitative analysis of the experimental results presented in this paper. After 12 weeks of routine instruction, the control group's performance did not change significantly. After 12 weeks of equally intense badminton instruction, the total mental health score of College Students in the experimental group was significantly lower than in the pre-test. The results after the experiment were significantly better than before the experiment. Under 12 weeks of badminton instruction, there were significant differences in the mental health of college students, and 12 weeks of badminton instruction of equal intensity positively affected mental health. Badminton can produce favorable changes in the psychological variables of students in higher vocational programs, demonstrating that it can improve the mental health of these individuals.(AU)

Objective: This study aimed to determine the effect of 3-week progressive overloading and 1-week tapering during a preseason on performance, internal training load, stress tolerance, and heart rate variability in under-19 Brazilian badminton players. Material and method: Eight male under-19 badminton players (age 16.1 ± 0.6 years; height 1.68 ± 7.7 m; body mass 57.2 ± 5.8 kg; body mass index 20.3 ± 2.5 kg∙m-2; body fat 8.0 ± 2.7 %), competing at the state level had physical and physiological monitored over four weeks during pre-season. Players underwent a badminton-specific movement agility test, 5-m multiple shuttle test, Yo-Yo Intermittent Recovery test level 1, and performed vertical jumps before and after the pre-season. During the training, the heart rate variability and internal training load were monitored daily, and weekly were stress tolerance was recorded by psychometric responses. Results: The players showed significant improvements in all performance variables assessed after the training period. The internal training load during overloading was higher (1635 ± 109.9; 2490 ± 124; 2850 ± 210 AU) compared to tapering (1335 ± 100 AU). The stress tolerance decreased during overloading (4.0 ± 0.7; 8.2 ± 1.3; 10.1 ± 1.4) and increased during tapering (5.5 ± 1.5). In addition, higher internal training load during overloading resulted in a greater reduction in root-mean-square difference of successive R-R intervals (lnRMSSDmean) (4.2 ± 0.2; 4.1 ± 0.1; 4.0 ± 0.1 ms) and a smaller coefficient of variation (lnRMSSDcv) (4.5 ± 2.6; 2.1 ± 1.2; 1.4 ± 0.9 %), and the significant reduction in the internal training load during tapering led to a decrease in lnRMSSDmean (1.3 ± 0.5 ms).(AU)

Objective: Phase angle (PhA) is derived from bioimpedance analysis (BIA) and is widely used as an indicator of cellular health, cell membrane integrity, and cell function. Lower-body power and fitness capacity are of paramount importance in success in several sports, including badminton. This studyaimed to evaluate the relationship between PhA and lower-body power and fitness capacity in 22 junior badminton players (14 males, 8 females, 17.7 ±1.4 years old). Methods: Bioelectrical impedance was used to assess body fat (BF), muscle mass (MM) and PhA. Countermovement jump test and Yo-yo intermittent testlevel 2 were used to evaluate lower-body power and fitness capacity, respectively. Pearsons correlation was used to assess the relationship between PhAand lower-body power and fitness capacity, with multiple regressions considering the effect of BF, MM, and age. Results: PhA exhibited a positive relationship with lower-body power ( = 0.48; p < 0.02) and fitness capacity ( = 0.37; p < 0.04). However, theseβ = 0.48; p < 0.02) and fitness capacity (β = 0.37; p < 0.04). However, theseβ = 0.48; p < 0.02) and fitness capacity (β = 0.37; p < 0.04). However, theserelationships lost significance after adjustment for the co-variables MM, BF, and age (p > 0.24). Conclusion: PhA is associated with lower-body power and fitness capacity in junior badminton players. However, these relationships are influenced byMM, BF, and age co-variables. (AU)
However, these = 0.48; p < 0.02) y la condición física (β = 0.48; p < 0.02) and fitness capacity (β = 0.37; p < 0.04). However, these = 0.37; p <0.04).
However, these = 0.48; p <0.02) e aptidão física (β = 0.48; p < 0.02) and fitness capacity (β = 0.37; p < 0.04). However, these = 0.37; p < 0.04). No entanto, essas relações sãoinfluenciadas pelas covariáveis MM, GC e idade.(AU)

The learning of tennis movement skills is rather complex and requires repeated practice and body coordination. It is difficult to master standardized technical movements in a short period of time. Therefore, a variety of training methods have been developed to facilitate the learning of tennis movement skills. In particular, the theory of background interference has been discussed by many scholars in recent years. Whether background interference is beneficial or detrimental to the learning of tennis movement skills requires further validation by scholars. Based on research methods such as literature, experiments, expert interviews and mathematical statistics, the effect of background interference on tennis players' serving technique training was examined using 15 Level 2 tennis players with no significant difference as subjects in a sports institute. They were divided into three groups of 5, each by serpentine grouping. The experiment was conducted for 4 weeks, with 3 sessions per week, for a total of 12 sessions of training. Four experimental indices (serving performance, accuracy, inside-angle accuracy, and speed) were selected for testing. The results showed that: (1) During skill acquisition, the players comprehended tennis serves more deeply. Moreover, they improved the power and speed of the serve and controlled the direction of the drop better. (2) The results of the retention test reflected the performance characteristics of effective learning, with the persistent practice effects. High background-interference practice facilitated long-term memory and also clarified each serve more distinctly. (3) After high background-interference exercises, athletes tolerated stress better in migration tests, enabling themselves to adapt to new operating environments quickly.(AU)

The aim of this study was to analyze the physical demands in padel initiation stage and to observe the influence of playing with different type of padel balls. Sixteen padel players at initiation stage participated in this study. Players wore a heart rate (HR) monitor. Perceived exertion and satisfaction questionnaires were administrated at the end of the matches. No differences were found in the match temporal structure. Playing with official balls caused a significant increase in HR (p < 0.001) both in average and maximal values (Average HR: 145 bpm, %HRmax: 72.5%) comparing to low-compression balls (Average HR: 140 bpm, %HRmax: 69.9%). In addition, players showed higher satisfaction when using low-compression balls. This information may have implications to determine the use of normal balls or low-compression balls and the design of specific training programmes for young padel players

INTRODUCTION: Padel is a young sport that attracts millions of people, of both sex, all ages and social status. Practicing padel brings numerous health benefits, but it can also induce injuries. OBJECTIVES: To analyze the relationship between vascular and padel pathology, and present the most significant aspects of Paget-Schroetter syndrome, and relate them to padel. METHODOLOGY: Literature review, until August 1, 2019, in PubMed, Google and specialized Spanish journals; and presentation of a clinical case. RESULTS: The search did not find any reference between padel and vascular pathology, but I identify 20 articles that relate racket sports and vascular pathology, to infer some of its aspects to padel. Clinical case: A 34-year-old male, a regular padel practitioner, diagnosed (echo-Doppler) with a right axillary subclavian venous thrombosis (Paget-Schroetter syndrome); satisfactorily treated by local fibrinolysis (through catheter) and resection of the first rib (thoracoscopy). Currently asymptomatic and under oral anticoagulation. CONCLUSIONS: 1) Little bibliography in this regard; 2) Low frequency of vascular complications during racquet sports; and 3) First case of the literature, of a Paget-Schoetter syndrome associated with padel player. Practical consequences: 1) The mechanism of production is explained by the combination of triggers (repetition of shoulder movements, associated with forced positions - abduction of the arm), and predisposing factors (venous compression by anomalous anatomical structures); and 2) Think of this entity, mainly before young people, athletes, and without a pathological history; only early management prevents complications (pulmonary embolism), relapses and sequelae (post-thrombotic syndrome)

Paddle is one of the racket sports that has grown the most in recent years. However, there are few or very limited studies that address the biotype of this discipline, especially in the elite paddle. The aim was to describe the anthropometric characteristics, body composition and somatotype of an international sample of high level paddle players. 29 subjects national top level (15 male and 14 female) participated in this study. 16 anthropometric variables were evaluated. Differences were found between sexes in the variables weight, height and BMI (p <0.001); in triceps, thigh and leg folds (p <0.001); in the arm, thigh (p <0.001) and leg (p <0.03) perimeters; and in all diameters analysed (p <0.001). Differences were also found between men and women in the endomorphic (p <0.01), mesomorphic (p <0.001) and ectomorphic (p <0.05) components of the somatotype. Male players present a mesomorphic-endomorphic somatotype while female players are preferably endo-mesomorphic. This research provides up-to-date reference data for somatotype in elite paddle players
