Serum Beta-aminopropionaldehyde: identification and origin

Beta-aminopropionaldehyde is one of the serum aldehydes whose level increases on treating serum with As2O3 and methanol. In animal tissues, beta-aminopropionaldehyde can arise directly from the oxidation of spermidine or diaminopropane.
