Plan of action and manual for management of the health component in disasters(1983); corrected draft

Proposes a development plan for management of health services in the event of any unexpected disaster. The plan aims to reduce to a minimum all possible effects which disasters might have on the health sector such as the loss of life, physical injury, destruction of health facilities, improper sanitation, the spread of disease epidemics, among others. Provisions are also made for emergency operations and the duties of the Health Action Committee and the National Disaster Committee for providing health services to the population. The plan of action stresses that a close relationship is necessary between members of the Committee in terms of cooperation and communication in order to manage disasters. Data forms to be completed for pre and post disaster preparedness are annexed.

The Guyana tragedy - an international forensic problem

Through the efforts of many of the leading forensic scientists in the world efforts are being made to develop a regional group of forensic experts who will be willing to respond to requests for help with major problems such as were faced with the Tenerife crash in the Canary Islands in 1977 and this problem in Guyana. This matter will be discussed in a session of the International Academy Meeting in Lyon in August of 1979 (Summary)
