RESUMO
Participant observation and structured interviews with selected groups of mothers in Northern Ireland and Jamaica revealed a variety of individual experiences that highlighted contrasts between the two cultures, and differences within each culture. The findings are used to illustrate the danger of cultural stereotyping, and the implications for the transcultural nursing movement are discussed. (AU)
