La crisis económica y la atención de urgencia por abuso de drogas en un hospital general / No disponible

Article in Spanish | IBECS | ID: ibc-90665
Part of the urgent care demand is constituted by patients coming to hospital for drug abuse. With this study we examined whether there is any relationship between drug abuse and the crisis we have had for 2008. We designed a retrospective study comparing the emergency room for drug abuse in 2007 and 2010, in a time period covering the months from May to December of both years, the Hospital General Universitario Reina Sofía (Murcia) with a reference population amounting to 250,000. The pattern of drug use has not changed in relation to the two years studied. So we can say that the crisis had not led to an increase in emergency-related abuse in the periods compared. If we are stating that they have increased the number of admissions in 2010 compared to 2007, which could indicate that patients who consult for drug abuse become more severe. Knowing the profile of the person consulting the emergency room for drug abuse programs will allow us to develop health education and responsible consumption led to that particular population(AU)
