Primary bronchomalacia is a respiratory condition characterized by weakness of the structural components of the bronchi, with consequent collapse of these airways. The morphologic abnormality results in respiratory disease characterized by chronic cough and, in certain cases, respiratory distress. Although the disease was recognized long ago in human beings as a primary respiratory disorder, the condition has only recently been reported to cause respiratory disease in dogs. For this reason, epidemiological aspects, clinical and complementary diagnoses and therapeutic methods are still widely unknown. This paper aims to describe two cases of primary bronchomalacia in dogs, with clinical features, complementary diagnosis and treatment of one of these patients. This is the first report of the disease in Brazil.(AU)
