Avenida ronda del Sinú: entre espacios y significados / Ronda del sinú avenue: spaces and meanings

RESUMEN

OBJETIVO: Comprender los significados que asignan los ciudadanos de Montería a la Ronda del Sinú, considerada una construcción geo-urbanística que transformó los antiguos espacios de la Avenida Primera, una de las vías más importantes de Montería, capital del Departamento de Córdoba (Colombia). MÉTODO: El análisis etnográfico partió de los postulados de la geografía humana para interpretar los significados históricos y actuales de la Avenida Primera, abarcando tanto los usos sociales como las remodelaciones que ha tenido en el tiempo. RESULTADOS: Los espacios físicos de esta Avenida, al ser habitados por los ciudadanos, se convirtieron en lugares sociales cargados de historia y sentido; lugares donde coexisten dialécticamente el encuentro y el conflicto; la tradición y la renovación cultural; la diversidad y la búsqueda de identidad, al igual que las luchas por un reconocimiento socio político. CONCLUSIONES: La investigación aporta a los estudios sobre el territorio, una mirada sociocultural de las construcciones urbanas, concibiéndola más como espacios sociales dinámicos que como construcciones materiales inmóviles.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To understand the meaning assigned by citizens of Montería (Colombia) to Ronda del Sinú, considered a geo-urban construction which transformed the old space of Avenida Primera, one of the most important roads in the city of Monteria, capital city of the Department of Córdoba (Colombia). METHOD: The ethnographic analysis came from the postulates of Human Geography to interpret the historical and current meanings of Avenida Primera, covering both social uses and reforms it has had throughout time. RESULTS: The physical spaces of this Avenida, being inhabited by citizens, became social places full of history and meaning, where encounter and conflict , tradition and cultural renewal, diversity and search for identity, as well as struggles for sociopolitical recognition coexist. CONCLUSIONS: The research contributes to the studies on territory a socio-cultural perspective of urban construction conceiving them as dynamic social spaces rather than as static physical constructions.
