Hioides: contexto anatomofisiológico comparativo y su implicación en la evolución del lenguaje / Anatomophysiological comparative context and its involvement in the evolution of language

RESUMEN

Introducción y objetivos: Muchos autores conjeturan que la mayor eficacia biológica del homo sapiens se correlacionó con su lenguaje, y este con un mayor descenso evolutivo del complejo hio-laríngeo. El objetivo de este estudio comparativo de las improntas musculares hioideas apunta a dicho correlato, lo que puede contribuir a esclarecer la evolución del lenguaje, al tiempo que facilita discernir sobre circunstancias conductuales y ecológicas involucradas. Materiales y métodos: Metodología operativa cuasi experimental, donde se presenta un análisis métrico-morfológico de los hioides de un mono aullador, un chimpancé y tres humanos, cotejados con una copia de hioides de neandertal y con la revisión de la literatura en un contexto comparativo anatomofisiológico concerniente a las improntas hioideas y su implicación en la evolución del descenso del complejo hio-laríngeo. Resultados: Del simio al humano moderno, las uniones cuerpo-astas del hioides y las astas mayores presentan un progresivo incremento a expensas de sus bordes inferiores, donde se insertan músculos depresores infrahioideos. Discusión y conclusiones: El progresivo aumento de los bordes inferiores del hioides refleja un evolutivo descenso del complejo hio-laríngeo. ABSTRACT

Introduction and aims: Many authors postulate that the higher biologic efficacy of Homo sapiens was correlated with the language, and these with a higher evolutionary descend of the hyo-laryngeal complex. The aim these preliminary comparative studies of the hyoid bone imprints pointed to implication in this correlate. This can helps to clarify the evolution of language, as well as to discern on the behavioral, and ecologic circumstances involved. Materials and methods: Operative and quasi-experimental methodology for metric and morphologic analysis of the hyoid bone from one howling monkey, one chimpanzee and three humans. Those results were compared to hyoid bone copy from a Neanderthal and to a critical literature review in an anatomical, physiological and evolutionary context concernent with hyoid bone imprints and to the implication in evolution from the descend of hyo-laryngeal complex. Results: From simians to modern human, hyoid bone diameters present a progressive increase at the level of the body-horn junctions and of your greater horn at expense of its inferior margins, where the insertion of depressor muscles takes place. Discussion and conclusions: The progressive increase in the inferior-lateral hyoid margins reflects an evolutionary descend of the hyo-laryngeal complex. And consequently, the innovation of an oro-pharynx in our species, where the tongue could increase its functionality; those evolutional changes together in co-evolution with the cerebral cortex may have led to a full linguistic capability...
