O objetivo deste estudo foi verificar a prevalência de dores musculoesqueléticasem adolescentes escolares. Participaram da pesquisa487 adolescentes de ambos os gêneros, (288 gênero feminino e 199gênero masculino), com idade entre 14 e 18 anos de uma escola dazona leste da cidade de São Paulo. A pesquisa baseou-se no QuestionárioNórdico de Sintomas Osteomusculares e composta por 12perguntas. A prevalência de dor em adolescentes foi grande (71,7%do total), sendo a região cervical mais afetada. O grupo femininoreferiu mais dor (80%), prevalecendo a região cervical (11,2%),região dorsal (8,5%) e ombro direito (7,6%). Afirmam que a dornão interfere em suas atividades cotidianas e não são deflagradas pornenhuma situação ou atividade em especial. A maioria delas sentedor durante a realização das atividades do dia a dia (30,7%), quandoestão em pé (41,3%) e acreditam que a postura inadequada seja aprincipal causa (33,8%). Apenas 59 (25,7%) procuram assistênciamédica e somente 8,7% foi encaminhada a fisioterapia. No grupomasculino, 60% referem sentir dor, a área mais acometida são osjoelhos (direito 11,6% e esquerdo 11,1%), a região dorsal (9,7%)e quadril e/ou coxa direito (8,3%). A maioria costuma sentir dordurante a prática de atividade física (33,5%); quando estão empé (46,5%) e acreditam que a postura inadequada seja a principalcausa de dor (30,4%). Apenas (24,4%) deles procuraram assistênciamédica e somente 5% foram encaminhadas para a fisioterapia.
The objective of this study was to determine the prevalence ofmusculoskeletal pain among adolescent students. The participantswere 487 adolescents of both genders (288 females and 199 males),aged 14-18 years, who attended a school from the East zone of SãoPaulo city. The research was based on the Nordic MusculoskeletalQuestionnaire and consisted of 12 questions. The prevalence of painin adolescents was higher (71.7% of total) and the most commonarea affected was the cervical region. Females referred more pain(80%), prevailing the cervical region (11.2%), dorsal region (8.5%)and right shoulder (7.6%). They reported that pain does not interferein their daily activities and are not triggered by any situation or activityin particular. Most of them feel pain during activities of dailylife (30.7%), when they were standing (41.3%) and believed thatimproper posture is the leading cause (33.8%). Only 59 (25.7%)girls seeking medical care and only 8.7% were referred to physicaltherapy. Regarding the male group, 60% reported feeling pain, andthe most affected area were the knees (left and right 11.6% 11.1%),the dorsal region (9.7%) and hip and/or thigh right (8.3 %). Mostoften feel pain during physical activity (33.5%) when they werestanding (46.5%) and believed that poor posture is a major causeof pain (30.4%). Only 24.4% of boys sought medical assistanceand only 5% were referred for physical therapy.
