RESUMO

In this Letter, we propose an exotic quantum state that does not order at zero temperature in a Rydberg atom array with antiblockade mechanism. By performing an unbiased large-scale quantum Monte Carlo simulation, we investigate a minimal model with facilitated excitation in a disorder-free system. At zero temperature, this model exhibits a heterogeneous structure of liquid and glass mixture. This state, dubbed quantum slush state, features a quasi-long-range order with an algebraic decay for its correlation function, and is different from most well-established quantum phases of matter.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to evaluate the methodological quality of existing meta-analyses (MA) and the quality of evidence for outcome indicators to provide an updated overview of the evidence concerning the therapeutic efficacy of the Mediterranean diet (MD) for various types of CVD. DESIGN: We conducted comprehensive searches of PubMed, Cochrane Library, and Embase databases. The quality of the MA was assessed using the A Measurement Tool to Assess Systematic Reviews 2 (AMSTAR 2) checklist, while the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE) evidence evaluation system was employed to evaluate the quality of evidence for significant outcomes. SETTING: The CVD remains a significant contributor to global mortality. Multiple MA have consistently demonstrated the efficacy of medical interventions in managing CVD. However, due to variations in the scope, quality and outcomes of these reviews, definitive conclusions are yet to be established. PARTICIPANTS: This study included five randomized trials and twelve non-randomized studies, with a combined participant population of 716 318. RESULTS: The AMSTAR 2 checklist revealed that 54·55 % of the studies demonstrated high quality, while 9·09 % exhibited low quality, and 36·36 % were deemed critically low quality. Additionally, there was moderate evidence supporting a positive correlation between MD and CHD/acute myocardial infarction, stroke, heart failure, cardiovascular events, coronary events and major adverse cardiovascular events. CONCLUSIONS: This study indicates that although recognizing the potential efficacy of MD in managing CVD, the quality of the methodology and the evidence for the outcome indicators remain unsatisfactory.

RESUMO

The effects of humic acid water-soluble fertilizer on the growth and physiological characteristics of Bupleurum chinense seedlings(Zhongchai No.1) were studied by using a single factor experiment design. When the seedling age was 60 days, the humic acid water-soluble fertilizer was diluted 1 200 times(T1), 1 500 times(T2), 1 800 times(T3), and 2 100 times(T4) for seedling treatment, respectively, and water was used as the control(CK). The effects of different treatments on growth indexes, biomass accumulation, root activity, antioxidant enzyme activity, membrane lipid peroxidation, and photosynthetic characteristics of B. chinense seedlings were analyzed after 30 days. The results showed that compared with CK, stem height, leaf number, root diameter, and root length of the B. chinense seedlings under T3 treatment were significantly increased by 36.82%, 37.03%, 42.78%, and 22.38%, respectively. Root fresh weight, leaf fresh weight, root dry weight, and leaf dry weight under T3 treatment were significantly increased by 90.36%, 98.68%, 123.84%, and 104.38%, respectively. In addition, humic acid water-soluble fertilizer also enhanced TTC reducing activity of the root of B. chinense seedlings, inhibited malonaldehyde(MDA) content, increased superoxide dismutase(SOD), peroxidase(POD), and catalase(CAT) enzyme activities, improved chlorophyll content, and enhanced P_n, G_s, T_r, and other photosynthetic parameters. In conclusion, the application of humic acid water-soluble fertilizer diluted 1 800 times can significantly promote the growth of B. chinense seedlings, enhance root vitality, improve seedling stress resistance, and enhance photosynthesis. The results of this study can provide a theoretical basis for fertilization of B. chinense seedlings.

RESUMO

Studies of systems far from equilibrium open up new avenues for investigating exotic phases of matter. A driven-dissipative frustrated spin system is examined in this study, and we suggest an out-of-equilibrium nonmagnetic phase where the spins do not order but adhere to the ice rule in space and establish a long-range crystalline order in time. In contrast to the conventional spin ice, the dynamics of monopoles is confined due to the nonequilibrium feature of our model. Possible experimental realizations of our model are discussed.

RESUMO

Driving a system out of equilibrium enriches the paradigm of spontaneous symmetry breaking, which could then take place not only in space but also in time. The interplay between temporal and spatial symmetries, as well as symmetries from other internal degrees of freedom, can give rise to novel nonequilibrium phases of matter. In this Letter, we investigate a driven-dissipative superfluid model using holographic methods and reveal the existence of a spacetime supersolid (STS) phase that concomitantly breaks the time translation, spatial translation, and the internal U(1) symmetry. The holographic methods naturally include finite temperature effects, which enables us to explore the complex phase diagram of this model and observe a cascade of out-of-equilibrium phase transitions from the STS phase to a synchronized superfluid phase, and finally to a normal fluid phase, by increasing the temperature.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: To determine whether dual-energy CT (DECT) can be used to accurately and reliably detect anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) rupture. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Participants with unilateral ACL rupture were prospectively enrolled, and the bilateral knees were scanned by DECT. A tissue-specific mapping algorithm was applied to improve the visualization of the ACLs. The 80-keV CT value, mixed-keV CT value, electron density (Rho), and effective atomic number (Zeff) were measured to quantitatively differentiate torn ACLs from normal ACLs. MRI and arthroscopy served as the reference standards. RESULTS: Fifty-one participants (mean age, 27.0 ± 8.7 years; 31 men) were enrolled. Intact and torn ACLs were explicitly differentiated on color-coded DECT images. The 80-keV CT value, mixed-keV CT value, and Rho were significantly lower for the torn ACLs than for the intact ACLs (p < 0.001). The optimal cutoff values were an 80-keV CT value of 61.8 HU, a mixed-keV CT value of 60.9 HU, and a Rho of 51.8 HU, with AUCs of 98.0% (95% CI: 97.0-98.9%), 99.2% (95% CI: 98.6-99.7%), and 99.8% (95% CI: 99.6-100.0%), respectively. Overall, DECT had almost perfect reliability and validity in detecting ACL integrity (sensitivity = 97.1% [95% CI: 88.1-99.8%]; specificity = 98.0% [95% CI: 89.5-99.9%]; PPV = 98.0% [95% CI: 93.0-99.8%]; NPV = 97.1% [95% CI: 91.7-99.4%]; accuracy = 97.5% [95% CI: 94.3-99.2%]). There was no evidence of a difference between MRI and DECT in the diagnostic performance (p > 0.99). CONCLUSION: DECT has excellent diagnostic accuracy and reliability in qualitatively and quantitatively diagnosing ACL rupture. CLINICAL RELEVANCE STATEMENT: DECT could validly and reliably diagnose ACL rupture using both qualitative and quantitative methods, which may become a promising substitute for MRI to evaluate the integrity of injured ACLs and the maturity of postoperative ACL autografts. KEY POINTS: • On color-coded DECT images, an uncolored ACL was a reliable sign for qualitatively diagnosing ACL rupture. • The 80-keV CT value, mixed-keV CT value, and Rho were significantly lower for the torn ACLs than for the intact ACLs, which contributed to the quantitative diagnosis of ACL rupture. • DECT had an almost perfect diagnostic performance for ACL rupture, and diagnostic capability was comparable between MRI and DECT.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: To evaluate the extent of tunnel widening after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) using the all-inside technique and to establish its correlation with patient-reported clinical outcomes and femoral graft bending angle (GBA). METHODS: Tunnel widening was evaluated using computed tomography (CT)-based three-dimensional (3D) models, and the femoral GBA was directly measured on CT images using the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) software. Clinical follow-up was routine procedure, and patient-reported clinical outcomes mainly included International Knee Documentation Committee (IKDC), Lysholm, and Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Scores (KOOS) scores, and subjective knee stability assessment. RESULTS: Fifty-two patients received standard all-inside ACLR, with a median follow-up of 6 months. Reconstructed anterior cruciate ligaments (ACLs) were scanned during the first 3 days and 6 months after surgery. On both the femoral and tibial sides, bone tunnels were most significantly enlarged at the articular aperture segment; the femoral tunnel was 9.2 ± 1.3 mm postoperatively and was significantly enlarged by 32% to a mean tunnel diameter of 12.1 ± 2.0 mm at 6 months after surgery. Moreover, the extent of tunnel enlargement gradually decreased as the measured levels approached those of the bone cortex. The femoral tunnel center was shifted into the anterior and distal direction, and the tibial tunnel center was shifted into the posterior and lateral direction. Additionally, the mean femoral GBA was 105.9° ± 8.1° at the 6-month follow-up. Tunnel enlargement and GBA were not significantly correlated with patient-reported outcomes. CONCLUSIONS: Femoral and tibial tunnels were significantly greater and eccentrically shifted at the 6-month follow-up after all-side ACLR. However, the extent of tunnel widening does not markedly affect the short-term clinical outcomes. Meanwhile, the femoral GBA was not significantly correlated with femoral tunnel widening or patient-reported outcomes. Although the tunnel widening following all-inside ACLR was not associated with clinical outcomes, it potentially caused difficulties in revision ACLR. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: Level IV.

RESUMO

To solve the serious problem of stem and leaf shading in the middle and late stage of traditional flat planting of Codonopsis pilosula, this study analyzed the effects of different stereoscopic traction heights on the photosynthetic characteristics and growth of C. pilosula and explored the optimal traction height to improve the yield and quality of C. pilosula. The experiment designed three stereo-scopic traction heights [H1(60 cm), H2(90 cm), and H3(120 cm)] with natural growth without traction as the control(CK). The results showed that the increase in stereoscopic traction heights broadened the growth space of stems and leaves of C. pilosula, enhanced the ventilation effect, significantly increased the average daily net photosynthetic rate of C. pilosula, promoted the absorption of intercellular CO_2, decreased the transpiration rate, and reduced the evaporation of water. Moreover, it effectively avoided the problem of weakened photosynthesis, maintained the carbon balance of individual plants, and promoted the growth and development of the C. pilosula roots. In terms of the seed yield of C. pilosula, it was ranked as H2>H1>H3>CK. To be specific, H1 increased by 213.41% compared with CK, H2 increased by 282.43% compared with CK, and H3 increased by 133.95% compared with CK. The yield and quality of C. pilosula were the highest in the H3 treatment group, with the fresh yield of 6 858.33 kg·hm~(-2), 50.59% higher than CK, dry yield of 2 398.33 kg·hm~(-2), 76.54% higher than CK, and lobetyolin content of 0.56 mg·g~(-1), 45.22% higher than CK. Therefore, the stereoscopic traction height has a great influence on the photosynthetic characteristics, yield, and quality of C. pilosula. Particularly, the yield and quality of C. pilosula can be optimized and improved in the traction height treatment of H3(120 cm). This planting method is worth popularizing and applying in the cultivated management of C. pilosula.

RESUMO

Covering 1972 to 2021Malaria remains a significant public health problem in some regions of the world. The great efforts to control malaria have been severely compromised due to the widespread resistance of Plasmodium falciparum to nearly all frontline drugs. Pursuit of novel molecules from the sea will potentially result in new interventions against malaria, which are urgently needed to combat the increase of resistance. Focusing on the strategy of the "Blue Drug Bank", the molecules highlighted here can serve as an inspiration for future medicinal chemistry campaigns. This review covers the developments in the field of antimalarial marine lead compounds reported between 1972 and July 2021, and offers a comprehensive overview on their progresses and potentials. We selected 60 representative potential candidate molecules from 361 marine natural products, and highlighted their structure-activity relationships, molecular mechanisms of targets, and drug-like properties in order to assess their full potential to be developed. We summarized 107 clinically proven or potential antimalarial targets and their subcellular locations in the relevant target proteins, which linked the molecules to the target proteins at the subcellular level. Hence, it could be expected that natural products targeting different mechanisms may prove to be an effective strategy in antimalarial drug research and development in the future.

RESUMO

In this Letter, we study the mean-field dynamics of a general class of many-body systems with stochastically fluctuating interactions. Our findings reveal a universal algebraic decay of the order parameter m(t)∼t^{-χ} with an exponent χ=1/3 that is independent of most system details including the strength of the stochastic driving, the energy spectrum of the undriven systems, the initial states, and even the driving protocols. It is shown that such a dynamical universality class can be understood as a consequence of a diffusive process with a time-dependent diffusion coefficient which is determined self-consistently during the evolution. The finite-size effect, as well as the relevance of our results with current experiments in high-finesse cavity QED systems are also discussed.

RESUMO

Deoxynivalenol (DON) is universally detected trichothecene in most cereal commodities, which is considered as a major hazardous material for human and animal health. Intestine is the most vulnerable organ with higher concentration of DON than other organs, owing to the first defense barrier function to exogenous substances. However, the underling mechanisms about DON-induced intestinal toxicity remain poorly understood. Here, DON poisoning models of IPEC-J2 cells was established to explore adverse effect and the potential mechanism of DON-induced enterotoxicity. Results showed that DON exposure destroyed IPEC-J2 cells morphology. Results showed that DON exposure destroyed IPEC-J2 cells morphology. Intestinal epithelial barrier injury was caused by DON with increasing LDH release, decreasing cell viability as well decreasing tight junction protein expressions (Occludin, N-Cad, ZO-1, Claudin-1 and Claudin-3). Moreover, DON caused mitochondrial dysfunction by opening mitochondrial permeability transition pore and eliminating mitochondrial membrane potential. DON exposure upregulated protein and mRNA expression of mitochondrial fission factors (Drp1, Fis1, MIEF1 and MFF) and mitophagy factors (PINK1, Parkin and LC3), downregulated mitochondrial fusion factors (Mfn1, Mfn2, except OPA1), resulting in mitochondrial dynamics imbalance and mitophagy. Overall, these findings suggested that DON induced tight junction dysfunction in IPEC-J2 cells was related to mitochondrial dynamics-mediated mitophagy.

RESUMO

In equilibrium physics, spontaneous symmetry breaking and elementary excitation are two concepts closely related with each other: the symmetry and its spontaneous breaking not only control the dynamics and spectrum of elementary excitations, but also determine their underlying structures. In this Letter, based on an exactly solvable model, we propose a phase ramping protocol to study an excitationlike behavior of a nonequilibrium quantum matter: a discrete time crystal phase with spontaneous temporal translational symmetry breaking. It is shown that slow ramping could induce a dynamical transition between two Z_{2} symmetry breaking time crystal phases in time domain, which can be considered as a temporal analog of the soliton excitation spatially sandwiched by two degenerate charge density wave states in polyacetylene. By tuning the ramping rate, we observe a critical value at which point the transition duration diverges, resembling the critical slowing down phenomenon in nonequilibrium statistic physics. We also discuss the effect of stochastic sequences of such phase ramping processes and its implication to the stability of the discrete time crystal phase against noisy perturbations.

RESUMO

Symmetry-protected topological edge modes are one of the most remarkable phenomena in topological physics. Here, we formulate and quantitatively examine the effect of a quantum bath on these topological edge modes. Using the density matrix renormalization group method, we study the ground state of a composite system of spin-1 quantum chain, where the system and the bath degrees of freedom are treated on the same footing. We focus on the dependence of these edge modes on the global and partial symmetries of system-bath coupling and on the features of the quantum bath. It is shown that the time-reversal symmetry (TRS) plays a special role for an open quantum system, where an emergent partial TRS breaking will result in a TRS-protected topological mode diffusing from the system edge into the bath, thus make it useless for quantum computation.

RESUMO

1,8-Cineole (also known as eucalyptol) is mostly extracted from the essential oils of plants, which showed extensively pharmacological properties including anti-inflammatory and antioxidant mainly via the regulation on NF-κB and Nrf2, and was used for the treatment of respiratory diseases and cardiovascular, etc. Although various administration routes have been used in the application of 1.8-cineole, few formulations have been developed to improve its stability and bioavailability. This review retrospects the researches on the source, biological activities, mechanisms, and application of 1,8-cineole since 2000, which provides a view for the further studies on the application and formulations of 1,8-cineole.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To study the efficacy and safety of double plasma molecular absorption system (DPMAS) in the treatment of pediatric acute liver failure (PALF). METHODS: A prospective analysis was performed on the medical data of children with PALF who were hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Hunan Children's Hospital, from March 2018 to June 2020. The children were randomly divided into two groups:plasma exchange group (PE group) and DPMAS group (n=18 each). The two groups were compared in terms of clinical indices after treatment, laboratory markers before and after treatment, and adverse events after treatment. RESULTS: Compared with the PE group, the DPMAS group had a significantly lower number of times of artificial liver support therapy and a significantly shorter duration of ICU stay (P < 0.05), while there was no significant difference in the 12-week survival rate between the two groups (P > 0.05). There was no significant difference in laboratory markers between the two groups before treatment (P > 0.05). After treatment, both groups had reductions in the levels of total bilirubin, interleukin-6, and tumor necrosis factor-α, and the DPMAS group had significantly greater reductions than the PE group (P < 0.05). Both groups had a significant reduction in alanine aminotransferase (P < 0.05), while there was no significant difference between the two groups (P > 0.05). The PE group had a significant increase in albumin, while the DPMAS group had a significant reduction in albumin (P < 0.05). The PE group had a significant reduction in prothrombin time, while the DPMAS group had a significant increase in prothrombin time (P < 0.05). There was no significant difference between the two groups in the rebound rate of total bilirubin and the overall incidence rate of adverse events after treatment (P > 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: DPMAS is safe and effective in the treatment of PALF and can thus be used as an alternative to artificial liver support therapy.

RESUMO

Modern experimental platforms such as superconducting circuit arrays call for the exploration of bosonic tight-binding models in unconventional situations with no counterpart in real materials. Here we investigate one such situation in which excitations are driven and damped by pairs, leading to pattern formation and exotic bosonic states emerging from a nonequilibrium quantum many-body system. Focusing on a two-dimensional driven-dissipative Bose-Hubbard model, we find that its steady states are characterized by the condensation of bosons around momenta lying on a "Bose surface," a bosonic analog of the Fermi surface in solid-state systems. The interplay between instabilities generated by the driving, the nonlinear dissipative mode coupling, and the underlying lattice effect allows the system to equilibrate into an exotic superfluid state of bosons condensed on a closed ring in momentum space instead of discrete points. Such an unconventional state with a spatially uniform density distribution goes beyond the traditional scope of pattern formation and thus has no counterpart in the classical literature. In addition, it is a state connected to several open problems in modern condensed-matter physics. Here we provide the means to stabilize it, opening the way to its experimental study. Moreover, we also provide a concrete experimental implementation of our model in currently available superconducting circuit arrays. We also investigate the relaxation spectrum around the condensate, which shows a characteristic purely diffusive behavior.

RESUMO

Dynamical universality is the observation that the dynamical properties of different systems might exhibit universal behavior that are independent of the system details. In this Letter, we study the longtime dynamics of a one-dimensional noisy quantum magnetic model, and find that even though the system is inevitably driven to an infinite temperature state, the relaxation dynamics towards such a featureless state can be highly nontrivial and universal. The effect of various mode-coupling mechanisms (external potential, disorder, interaction, and the interplay between them) as well as the conservation law on the longtime dynamics of the systems have been studied, and their relevance with current ultracold atomic experiments has been discussed.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To study the clinical features of severe type 7 adenovirus pneumonia in children. METHODS: A retrospective analysis was performed for the clinical data of children who were diagnosed with severe type 7 adenovirus pneumonia from February to June, 2019. RESULTS: Among the 45 children, the male/female ratio was 3:2 and the median age was 14 months. All children had repeated fever, cough, and pulmonary moist rales, and the mean duration of fever was 14±4 days. The median time from fever to dyspnea was 8 days, and the time from fever to mechanical ventilation was 11.6±2.5 d. There was no significant increase in white blood cell count, with neutrophils as the main type. There were slight reductions in hemoglobin and albumin, while platelet and fibrinogen remained normal. There were increases in aspartate aminotransferase, lactate dehydrogenase, procalcitonin, and C-reaction protein. The detection rate of mixed pathogens was 84%. Effusion in both lungs was the major change on chest imaging (64%). Bronchoscopic manifestations were endobronchitis, tracheomalacia, and plastic bronchitis. The incidence rate of respiratory complications was 100%, and extrapulmonary complications mainly involved the circulatory system (47%), digestive system (36%), and nervous system (31%). Among the 45 children, 16 were administered with 400 mg/kg intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) daily for 5 days, with a mean duration of fever of 16±5 days, and 29 were administered with 1 g/kg IVIG daily for 2 days, with a mean duration of fever of 13±4 days; there was a significant difference in the mean duration of fever between the two groups (P=0.046). The overall mortality rate was 11%. CONCLUSIONS: Severe type 7 adenovirus pneumonia in children has severe conditions, with a high incidence rate of complications and a high mortality rate, so it should be diagnosed and treated as early as possible.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To study the role of blood purification in the treatment of severe adenovirus pneumonia. METHODS: A total of 57 children with severe adenovirus pneumonia who underwent mechanical ventilation from February to June, 2019, were enrolled. According to whether blood purification was performed, they were divided into a purification group with 22 children and a conventional group with 35 children. Related clinical indices were collected, including duration of fever, duration of mechanical ventilation, length of stay in the intensive care unit (ICU), and mortality rate. The purification group was analyzed in terms of interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) before blood purification and at 48 hours after blood purification, as well as stroke volume variation (SVV), thoracic fluid content (TFC), arterial partial pressure of oxygen/fraction of inhaled oxygen (P/F) value, and partial pressure of carbon dioxide (PCO2) before blood purification and at 6, 12, 24, and 48 hours after blood purification. RESULTS: Compared with the conventional group, the purification group had significantly shorter duration of fever, duration of mechanical ventilation, and length of stay in the ICU (P<0.05), and there was no significant difference in the mortality rate between the two groups (P>0.05). The purification group had significant reductions in IL-6 and TNF-α after blood purification, (P<0.05) and significant reductions in SVV and TFC at 12, 24, and 48 hours after blood purification (P<0.01), as well as a significant increase in P/F value and a significant reduction in PCO2 at 6, 12, 24, and 48 hours after blood purification (P<0.01). CONCLUSIONS: Blood purification as an auxiliary therapy can effectively improve the clinical symptoms of children with severe adenovirus pneumonia, and is thus an option for the treatment of severe adenovirus pneumonia in children.

BACKGROUND: A novel method, termed loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP), was developed by Notomi et al. (2000). Individually published results have been reported that this technology has been successfully applied to the detection of a variety of pathogens. However, the overall diagnostic accuracy of LAMP for Mycoplasma pneumoniae (MP) remains unclear. A meta-analysis was therefore performed to review the accuracy of LAMP for Mycoplasma pneumoniae. METHODS: Cochrane Library and PubMed were systematically searched and checked for studies using LAMP for detecting mycoplasma pneumoniae. We used PCR as a reference standard to evaluate the quality of the studies eligible for inclusion in the meta-analysis. Then, the data from the studies were extracted by two independent assessors. Meta-DiSc 1.4 software was utilized to test the heterogeneity of sensitivity (SEN), specificity (SP), positive likelihood ratio (PLR), negative likelihood ratio (NLR), and diagnosis odds ratio (DOR). The pooled analysis results were plotted, and the summary receiver operating characteristic (SROC) curve was plotted by calculating the area under the curve (AUC). Generated pooled summary estimates (95% CIs) were calculated for the overall accuracy, and a bivariate meta-regression model was used for the meta-analysis. RESULTS: Seven studies with nine fourfold tables were included in this meta-analysis. The pooled SEN and SPE for diagnosing Mycoplasma pneumoniae were 0.90 (95% CI: 0.87-0.93) and 0.98 (95% CI: 0.96-0.99), respectively. The PLR was 31.25 (95% CI: 14.83-65.87), NLR 0.10 (95% CI: 0.05-0.22), DOR 399.32 (95% CI: 172.01-927.00), and AUC 0.9892. CONCLUSIONS: In conclusion, compared with PCR, LAMP is a valuable alternative method for Mycoplasma pneumoniae diagnosis in clinic with high sensitivity and specificity. However, more evidence is required to confirm that LAMP can fully replace other methods in the clinical diagnosis of MP.
