PURPOSE: In our previous study, we showed that Lycium chinense Miller fruit extract (LFE) exerted hepatoprotective effects in mice. In the current study, we examined the effect of LFE on liver enzyme levels in subjects with mild hepatic dysfunction. METHODS: A total of 90 subjects, aged 19 to 70 years old, with abnormal alanine aminotransferase (ALT) levels, were randomly placed into either an LFE (n = 45) treatment group or a placebo group (n = 45). During the 12-week clinical trial, subjects in each group received either LFE or placebo capsules, and were instructed to take four tablets per day (1760 mg/day). The primary outcome of the study was the changes of ALT and γ-glutamyltransferase (GGT) levels in each subject. The safety of LFE supplementation was assessed and adverse events were recorded. RESULTS: LFE supplementation for 12 weeks resulted in a significant reduction of ALT (P = 0.0498) and GGT (P = 0.0368) levels in comparison to the placebo. No clinically significant changes were observed in any safety parameters. CONCLUSION: These results suggest that LFE can be applied to subjects with mild hepatic dysfunction with no possible side effects. Objectives: In our previous study, we suggested the novel septal traversing technique as effective and safe in catheter-based approach for septal myocardium. However, it is limited by its dependence on the septal perforator vein. This study aimed to evaluate the Cobra catheter as a backup catheter to overcome this limitation in swine. Methods: We designed the guiding Cobra catheter. It consisted of three major parts (the external pull-wire steerable distal tip, the C-shaped shaft, and the steering adjustment handle). We tested the difference in force between the guidewire passing through the muscle and the vessel wall using a push-pull gauge. We performed a septal wire engage procedure in swine using the Cobra catheter. The guidewire engagement of the septal vein and Cobra catheter were compared visually and histopathologically. Results: A total of ten swine were enrolled in this study. The success rate was 100% under fluoroscopy. The experiments confirmed the medical potential of the septal approach even in a location irrelevant to the septal perforator vein anatomy and confirmed that the wire passed well in the target direction in the harvested heart. There was no serious physical damage or pathological abnormalities in the vessel wall and myocardium. Conclusion: These results showed that the novel Cobra catheter with a septal vein-independent trans-septal approach may be a safe and effective alternative for the treatment of structural heart diseases.

Erythroid differentiation regulator 1 (Erdr1) has been identified as a stromal survival factor released under stressful conditions. Previously, Erdr1 was reported to be expressed highly in thymus, but roles of Erdr1 in thymus were not known. Here, the effects of Erdr1 on T cell development were investigated. The expression of Erdr1 was higher in thymus than bone marrow and Erdr1 was detected in both the cortex and medulla of thymus. Erdr1 treatment significantly induced the expression of activation marker, CD69, from thymocytes in the presence of TCR stimuli in vitro and the induction was dependent on increased Ca2+ influx. In addition, in vivo administration of Erdr1 resulted in significant increase of total and positive selected thymocyte numbers, particularly in the number of CD3TCRhiCD69+ DP thymocytes. Taken together, our results show that Erdr1 enhances the strength of TCR signaling and cellularity of thymocytes by amplifying Ca2+ influx in thymocytes receiving TCR signals.

BACKGROUND: Cordyceps is a traditional Chinese herb that produces various biopharmaceutical effects, including immune-enhancing effects. In this study, we prepared a Cordyceps mycelium culture extract (Paecilomyces hepiali, CBG-CS-2) to confirm its efficacy in enhancing the immune system and to evaluate its safety in healthy adults. METHODS: Healthy adults were divided into the intervention group (n = 39), who were given 1.68 g/day of CBG-CS-2 in capsules, and the control group (n = 40) for 8 weeks. The activities of natural killer (NK) cells and serum levels of monocyte-derived mediators were assessed initially for a baseline measurement and after 8 wks. RESULTS: The CBG-CS-2 group showed a significant 38.8 ± 17.6% enhancement from the baseline of NK cell cytotoxic activity relative to the placebo group after the administration of the capsules for 8 wks. (P < 0.019). CONCLUSION: The results suggest that the immune system functions well with CBG-CS-2 supplementation, perhaps with less accompanying inflammation. Thus, CBG-CS-2 is safe and effective for enhancing cell-mediated immunity in healthy adults. TRIAL REGISTRATION: This study was registered at Clinical Trials.gov ( NCT 02814617 ).

Baicalein is a well-known flavone derivative that possesses diverse biological properties, such as anticancer, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities. Numerous baicalein derivatives, including 5,6,7-trimethoxyflavone, have been synthesized with the aim of enhancing its inherent biological activities. In the present work, new flavones, possessing an N-aroylamine-substituent on the B-ring, were synthesized to improve the cytotoxicity of baicalein and 5,6,7-trimethoxyflavone against human cancer cell lines. The majority of the flavones synthesized exhibited greater cytotoxicity than baicalein and 5,6,7-trimethoxyflavone against HepG2 and MCF-7 cells. Among them, compounds 5n, possessing a 3-methoxybenzoylamino group, exhibited great cytotoxic effects on HepG2 (GI50=7.06µM) and MCF-7 (GI50=7.67µM) cells. In contrast, N-aroylamine-substituted 5-hydroxy-6,7-dimethoxyflavone derivatives showed greater cytotoxicity against MCF-7 than HepG2 cells, indicating that the replacement of a 5-methoxy group on the A-ring with a 5-hydroxy group has a marked influence on the cytotoxicity profile.

The synthesis of fatty acids and glycerolipids in wild-type Arabidopsis leaves does not typically lead to strong triacylglycerol (TAG) accumulation. LEAFY COTYLEDON2 (LEC2) is a master regulator of seed maturation and oil accumulation in seeds. Constitutive ectopic LEC2 expression causes somatic embryogenesis and defects in seedling growth. Here, we report that senescence-inducible LEC2 expression caused a threefold increase in TAG levels in transgenic leaves compared with that in the leaves of wild-type plants. Plant growth was not severely affected by the accumulation the TAG in response to LEC2 expression. The levels of plastid-synthesized lipids, mono- and di-galactosyldiacylglycerol and phosphatidylglycerol were reduced more in senescence-induced LEC2 than in endoplasmic reticulum-synthesized lipids, including phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylethanolamine and phosphatidylinositol. Senescence-induced LEC2 up-regulated the expression of many genes involved in fatty acid and TAG biosynthesis at precise times in senescent leaves, including WRINKLED1 (WRI1), which encodes a fatty acid transcription factor. The expressions of glycerol-3-phosphate dehydrogenase 1 and phospholipid:diacylglycerol 2 were increased in the transgenic leaves. Five seed-type oleosin-encoding genes, expressed during oil-body formation, and the seed-specific FAE1 gene, which encodes the enzyme responsible for the synthesis of C20:1 and C22:1 fatty acids, were also expressed at higher levels in senescing transgenic leaves than in wild-type leaves. Senescence-inducible LEC2 triggers the key metabolic steps that increase TAG accumulation in vegetative tissues.

The topography of the facial muscles differs between males and females and among individuals of the same gender. To explain the unique expressions that people can make, it is important to define the shapes of the muscle, their associations with the skin, and their relative functions. Three-dimensional (3D) motion-capture analysis, often used to study facial expression, was used in this study to identify characteristic skin movements in males and females when they made six representative basic expressions. The movements of 44 reflective markers (RMs) positioned on anatomical landmarks were measured. Their mean displacement was large in males [ranging from 14.31 mm (fear) to 41.15 mm (anger)], and 3.35-4.76 mm smaller in females [ranging from 9.55 mm (fear) to 37.80 mm (anger)]. The percentages of RMs involved in the ten highest mean maximum displacement values in making at least one expression were 47.6% in males and 61.9% in females. The movements of the RMs were larger in males than females but were more limited. Expanding our understanding of facial expression requires morphological studies of facial muscles and studies of related complex functionality. Conducting these together with quantitative analyses, as in the present study, will yield data valuable for medicine, dentistry, and engineering, for example, for surgical operations on facial regions, software for predicting changes in facial features and expressions after corrective surgery, and the development of face-mimicking robots.

The objective of this study was to explore the antioxidant levels and anticancer properties of chicory cultivated using three different kinds of fertilizers (i.e., developed, organic, and chemical) in the presence and absence of pesticides. Phenolic phytochemicals, including total polyphenols and flavonoids, and antioxidant activities, including reducing power, ABTS+ and DPPH radical scavenging activity, were analyzed using several antioxidant assays. HepG2 cell viability was analyzed using the MTT assay. The antioxidant properties of chicory were found to increase when cultivated with chemical fertilizer in the absence of pesticides. On the other hand, antioxidant capacity was higher in chicory cultivated with eco-developed fertilizer even in the presence of pesticides. Chicory grown using eco-developed or organic fertilizer was more effective in suppressing the proliferation of HepG2 cells when compared to chicory grown with chemical fertilizer. This effect was time dependent, regardless of treatment with or without pesticides. In conclusion, the antioxidant activity of chicory were affected by the presence or absence of pesticides. However, developed and organic fertilizers showed a strong anti-proliferative effect against HepG2 cells, regardless of the presence or absence of pesticides.

Background: Studies report that diet may have contributed to a 50-60% decrease in human sperm quality over the past few decades. Unhealthy lifestyles affect the structure of spermatozoa, affecting the male reproductive potential. This study aimed to compare the effects of Korean and Western diets on reproductive function in young male Koreans. Methods: Study participants were provided either the Korean Diet (KD group) or the Western Diet (WD group) for 12 weeks. Semen quality parameters such as volume, motility, cell count, and sex hormone levels were evaluated. Sexual function was assessed using the International Index of Erectile Function and the Male Sexual Health Questionnaire. Efficacy and safety evaluations were conducted at baseline, 8 weeks, and 12 weeks. Results: The KD group demonstrated a significantly increased sperm motility after 8 weeks relative to baseline but decreased after 12 weeks. In contrast, sperm motility in the WD group significantly decreased after 8 weeks compared with baseline and remained constant after 12 weeks. Statistically, a near-significant difference was observed between groups (p = 0.057). Similarly, free testosterone levels in the KD group increased after 12 weeks compared with baseline, whereas that in the WD group decreased. The free testosterone levels in the KD group were significantly higher than those in the WD group (p = 0.020). There were no statistically significant differences in other sex hormone and sexual function questionnaires between the groups. None of the participants reported any severe side effects, and no significant alterations in clinical diagnostic test values were detected. Conclusion: The results of the study strongly reveal that KD positively affects sperm motility and male hormone levels in young men, indicating potential benefits for reproductive function.

Objective: This study aimed to examine the characteristics of research conducted on nonpharmacological interventions for cognitive impairment in patients with breast cancer and identify the primary effects of nonpharmacological interventions through a systematic review and meta-analysis. Methods: Five electronic databases were searched to identify all randomized controlled trial studies until September 30, 2022, using the key terms "breast cancer," "cognitive disorders," and their possible variations. The Cochrane Risk of Bias tool was used to assess risk of bias. The effect sizes were calculated in Hedges' g. Potential moderators influencing the intervention effects were explored. Results: Twenty-three studies were included in the systematic review, and 17 studies were included in the meta-analysis. Among the nonpharmacological interventions for patients with breast cancer, cognitive rehabilitation and physical activity were the most common, followed by cognitive behavioral therapy. The meta-analysis indicated that nonpharmacological interventions had a significant effect on attention (g â€‹= â€‹0.83; 95% CI: 0.14 to 1.52; I 2 â€‹= â€‹76%), immediate recall (g â€‹= â€‹0.33; 95% CI: 0.18 to 0.49; I 2 â€‹= â€‹0%), executive function (g â€‹= â€‹0.25; 95% CI: 0.13 to 0.37; I 2 â€‹= â€‹0%), and processing speed (g â€‹= â€‹0.44; 95% CI: 0.14 to 0.73; I 2 â€‹= â€‹51%) among objective cognitive functions, as well as subjective cognitive function (g â€‹= â€‹0.68; 95% CI: 0.40 to 0.96; I 2 â€‹= â€‹78%). Intervention type and mode of delivery were potential moderators for the effects of nonpharmacological interventions on cognitive functions. Conclusions: Nonpharmacological interventions can improve subjective and objective cognitive functioning among patients with breast cancer undergoing cancer treatment. Therefore, it is necessary to provide nonpharmacological interventions by screening patients at high risk of cancer-related cognitive impairment. Systematic review registration: CRD42021251709.

Male climacteric syndrome (MCS) is a medical condition that can affect middle-aged men whose testosterone levels begin to decline considerably. These symptoms may include fatigue, decreased libido, mood swings, and disturbed sleep. MCS can be managed with lifestyle modifications and testosterone replacement. However, testosterone therapy may cause number of side effects, including an increased risk of cardiovascular issues. This study aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of unripe black raspberry extract (BRE) against MCS and voiding dysfunction in men with andropause symptoms. A total of 30 subjects were enrolled and randomly assigned to the BRE group (n = 15) or the placebo group (n = 15). Participants were supplemented with 4800 mg BRE or placebo twice daily for 12 weeks. The impact of BRE was assessed using the Aging Male's Symptoms (AMS scale), International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS) and the IPSS quality of life index (IPSS-QoL). Additionally, male sex hormones, lipid profiles, and anthropometric indices were assessed 6 and 12 weeks after treatment. The AMS scores did not differ significantly between the two groups. In the BRE group, the total IPSS and IPSS-QoL scores decreased significantly after 12 weeks compared to baseline (p < 0.05), but there was no significant difference compared to the placebo group. However, a significant difference was observed in the IPSS voiding symptoms sub-score compared to the placebo group. Furthermore, LDL-C and TC levels were also significantly lower in the BRE group than in the placebo group (p < 0.05). Collectively, the study provides strong evidence supporting the safety of BRE as a functional food and its supplementation potentially enhances lipid metabolism and alleviates MCS and dysuria symptoms, limiting the development of BPH.

New amide derivatives of the natural product 5,6,7-trimethoxyflavanone were designed as multifunctional antiproliferative molecules against blood cancer and the associated inflammatory conditions. The targeted compounds were synthesized efficiently in three linear steps employing known chalcone starting materials. Compounds 2h, 2i, 2l, 2t, 2v and 2x having bromo or nitro substituted-phenyl rings elicited potential inhibitory effects on macrophages production of nitric oxide, PGE2 and TNF-α which are proinflammatory mediators involved in tumorigenesis and progression of blood cancer. Additionally, evaluation of direct inhibitory effects on the growth of diverse blood cancers including leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma cell lines unveiled compound 2v as the most potential molecules eliciting at least five-folds the potency of the standard imatinib drug over the used diverse blood cancers. Furthermore, compound 2v showed good selectivity to blood cancer cells rather than normal MRC5 cells. Moreover, compound 2v triggered death of HL60 leukemia cells via apoptosis induction. In conclusion, the natural product-derived compound 2v might serve as a multifunctional lead compound for further development of agents for treatment of blood cancers.

BACKGROUND: Patient safety is an essential responsibility of nurses. However, newly graduated nurses experience patient safety incidents due to a lack of patient safety competency. In particular, intensive care unit nurses provide care to critical patients, making it difficult for new nurses to maintain patient safety. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the patient safety competency of newly graduated nurses working in the intensive care unit. OBJECTIVES: To analyze the effects of a simulation-based training program on patient safety management on the patient safety competency, patient safety management activity, communication self-efficacy, and teamwork of newly graduated nurses working in an intensive care unit. DESIGN: A quasi-experimental study. SETTINGS: The study was conducted at a university in Korea. PARTICIPANTS: A total of 44 newly graduated nurses working in the intensive care unit of a university hospital. METHODS: A simulation-based training program on patient safety management was applied to the experimental group (n = 22), while only the usual hospital training program was used for the control group (n = 22). A structured questionnaire survey comprising Patient Safety Competency Self-Evaluation, Patient Safety Management Activities, the Korean version of the self-efficacy questionnaire, and K-self assessment of teamwork was conducted at baseline test (T1), post test (T2), and follow-up test (T3). Data were analyzed using a repeated measures ANOVA. RESULTS: The experimental group showed significantly higher patient safety competency, patient safety knowledge, and patient safety skills, along with higher communication self-efficacy scores than the control group (p < .05) after the intervention and at four weeks after the intervention. CONCLUSIONS: The simulation-based training program on patient safety management effectively improved the patient safety competency, patient safety knowledge, and patient safety skills as well as communication self-efficacy of newly graduated nurses working in an intensive care unit.

Ramie leaf (Boehmeria nivea L.) has been traditionally used to treat gynecological and bone-related disorders. This study aims to evaluate the effect of Ramie leaf extracts (RLE) against osteoporosis in ovariectomized (OVX) rats. Female SD rats aged seven weeks were randomly assigned into five OVX and a sham-operated (sham) group. OVX subgroups include OVX, vehicle-treated OVX group; E2, OVX with 100 µg/kg 17ß-estradiol; and RLE 0.25, 0.5, and 1, OVX rats treated with 0.25, 0.5, and 1 g/kg/day RLE, respectively. Two weeks into the bilateral ovariectomy, all the rats were orally administered with or without RLE daily for 12 weeks. OVX rats administered with RLE showed higher bone density, relatively low tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP)-positive osteoclasts, and lower reactive oxygen species (ROS) within bone tissues compared to vehicle-treated OVX rats. Furthermore, supplementation of RLE improved bone mineral density (BMD) and bone microstructure in the total femur. RLE prevented RANKL-induced osteoclast differentiation and expression of osteoclastogenesis-related genes such as Cal-R, MMP-9, cathepsin K, and TRAP in RANKL-induced RAW264.7 cells. Moreover, RLE administration lowered the intracellular ROS levels by reducing NADPH oxidase 1 (NOX-1) and 4-hydroxynonenal (4HNE). These results suggest that RLE alleviates bone mass loss in the OVX rats by inhibiting osteoclastogenesis, where reduced ROS and its associated signalings were involved.

Invasive pulmonary aspergillosis (IPA) can occur in immunocompromised patients, and an early detection and intensive treatment are crucial. We sought to determine the potential of Aspergillus galactomannan antigen titer (AGT) in serum and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) and serum titers of beta-D-glucan (BDG) to predict IPA in lung transplantation recipients, as opposed to pneumonia unrelated to IPA. We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of 192 lung transplant recipients. Overall, 26 recipients had been diagnosed with proven IPA, 40 recipients with probable IPA, and 75 recipients with pneumonia unrelated to IPA. We analyzed AGT levels in IPA and non-IPA pneumonia patients and used ROC curves to determine the diagnostic cutoff value. The Serum AGT cutoff value was 0.560 (index level), with a sensitivity of 50%, specificity of 91%, and AUC of 0.724, and the BALF AGT cutoff value was 0.600, with a sensitivity of 85%, specificity of 85%, and AUC of 0.895. Revised EORTC suggests a diagnostic cutoff value of 1.0 in both serum and BALF AGT when IPA is highly suspicious. In our group, serum AGT of 1.0 showed a sensitivity of 27% and a specificity of 97%, and BALF AGT of 1.0 showed a sensitivity of 60% and a specificity of 95%. The result suggested that a lower cutoff could be beneficial in the lung transplant group. In multivariable analysis, serum and BALF AGT, with a minimal correlation between the two, showed a correlation with a history of diabetes mellitus.

Scaffold hopping of N-benzyl-3,4,5-trimethoxyaniline afforded 5,6,7-trimethoxyflavan derivatives that were efficiently synthesized in four linear steps. As lung cancer is the most lethal cancer, twenty-three synthesized compounds were evaluated against a panel of lung cancer cells. Amongst, compounds 8q and 8e showed interesting activity. Hence, compounds 8q and 8e were evaluated against panels of diverse cancers. Compounds 8q and 8e showed broad spectrum anticancer activity. However, compound 8q was more effective and, hence, was advanced for potency evaluation and characterization. Compound 8q showed comparable potencies to gefitinib, and oxaliplatin against lung and colorectal cancers, respectively, and superior potencies to temozolomide, dacarbazine, cisplatin, enzalutamide, methotrexate, imatinib against brain, skin, ovary, prostate, breast, and blood cancers, respectively. Compound 8q increased cleaved PARP, caspase 3, and 7 inducing apoptosis. In addition, it inhibited cyclins A, B1, H and cdc25c, and increased p53 triggering cell cycle arrest in G2/M phase. Moreover, it decreased YAP and increased LATS1 and p-mob1/mob1 activating hippo signaling. Furthermore, it decreased p-PI3K/PI3k, p-mTOR/mTOR and p-P70S6K/P70S6K inhibiting PI3k pathway. Together, these findings present compound 8q as a potential anticancer lead compound for further development of potential agents.

Angelica gigas NAKAI (AG) is a popular traditional medicinal herb widely used to treat dyslipidemia owing to its antioxidant activity. Vascular disease is intimately linked to obesity-induced metabolic syndrome, and AG extract (AGE) shows beneficial effects on obesity-associated vascular dysfunction. However, the effectiveness of AGE against obesity and its underlying mechanisms have not yet been extensively investigated. In this study, 40 high fat diet (HFD) rats were supplemented with 100-300 mg/kg/day of AGE to determine its efficacy in regulating vascular dysfunction. The vascular relaxation responses to acetylcholine were impaired in HFD rats, while the administration of AGE restored the diminished relaxation pattern. Endothelial dysfunction, including increased plaque area, accumulated reactive oxygen species, and decreased nitric oxide (NO) and endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) Ser1177 phosphorylation, were observed in HFD rats, whereas AGE reversed endothelial dysfunction and its associated biochemical signaling. Furthermore, AGE regulated endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress and IRE1α sulfonation and its subsequent sirt1 RNA decay through controlling regulated IRE1α-dependent decay (RIDD) signaling, ultimately promoting NO bioavailability via the SIRT1-eNOS axis in aorta and endothelial cells. Independently, AGE enhanced AMPK phosphorylation, additionally stimulating SIRT1 and eNOS deacetylation and its associated NO bioavailability. Decursin, a prominent constituent of AGE, exhibited a similar effect in alleviating endothelial dysfunctions. These data suggest that AGE regulates dyslipidemia-associated vascular dysfunction by controlling ROS-associated ER stress responses, especially IRE1α-RIDD/sirt1 decay and the AMPK-SIRT1 axis.

The Pivot Mandu is an innovative device featuring a leak-tight adjustable 3D balloon spacer, incorporating inner mesh support, an outer e-PTFE layer, and a compliant balloon in the middle layer with a specialized detachable system. To assess its feasibility, proof of concept was rigorously evaluated through bench testing and survival porcine animal experiments. The results demonstrated successful remote inflation of the balloon system, with the balloon spacer exhibiting sustained patent and functional integrity over an extended observation period of up to 6 months. A noteworthy feature of the newly designed 3D balloon spacer is its capability for easy size adjustment during procedures, enhancing its adaptability and practicality in clinical settings. This three-layered 3D balloon spacer, with its established long-term patency, exhibits highly encouraging outcomes that hold promise in overcoming the current limitations of spacer devices for heart valve diseases. Given the compelling results from preclinical investigations, the translation of the Pivot Mandu into human trials is strongly warranted.

BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Adolescents who skip breakfast have an increased prevalence of chronic diseases. Thus, we aimed to evaluate whether the intake of rice-based breakfast had positive effects on blood glucose indices and to determine the possibility of diabetes prevalence in Korean youths who habitually skip breakfast. SUBJECTS/METHODS: In this randomized parallel-group controlled trial, 81 subjects who were suitable for compliance among 105 middle-and high-school students aged 12-18 years who usually skipped breakfast were included in this study (rice-meal group [RMG], n = 26; wheat-meal group [WMG], n = 29; general-meal group [GMG], n = 26). The RMG and WMG received a rice-based breakfast and a wheat-based breakfast for 12 weeks, respectively. The anthropometric indices, blood glucose indices, and metabolites were measured at baseline and the endpoint, respectively. RESULTS: The mean body weights in the RMG, WMG, and GMG groups at the endpoint were 62.44 kg, 61.80 kg, and 60.28 kg, respectively, and the mean body weights of the WMG and GMG groups at the endpoint were significantly higher than that at baseline (P < 0.05). The levels of fasting insulin and homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) values were significantly decreased in the RMG group at the endpoint compared to baseline (P < 0.05, P < 0.05, respectively). The levels of tryptophan and tyrosine in the WMG group at the endpoint were significantly higher than that those at baseline (P < 0.01, P < 0.05, respectively). CONCLUSIONS: Rice-based breakfast has positive effects on fasting insulin levels and HOMA-IR in Korean adolescents who skip breakfast. Additionally, it was found that a skipping breakfast could increase the prevalence of diabetes in adolescents who skip breakfast. Therefore, in addition to reducing breakfast skipping, it is vital to develop a rice-based menu that fits teenage preferences to prevent chronic diseases such as diabetes.
