RESUMO

With the popularization of 5G technology and artificial intelligence, thermally conductive epoxies with self-healing ability will be widely used in flexible electronic materials. Although many compounds containing both performances have been synthesized, there is little systematic theory to explain the coordination mechanism. In this paper, alkyl chains of different lengths were introduced to epoxies to discuss the thermally conductive, the self-healing performance, and the synergistic effect. A series of electronic-grade biphenyl epoxies (4,4'-bis(oxiran-2-ylmethoxy)-1,1'-biphenyl (1), 4,4'-bis(2-(oxiran-2-yl)ethoxy)-1,1'-biphenyl (2), 4,4'-bis(3-(oxiran-2-yl)propoxy)-1,1'-biphenyl (3), and 4,4'-bis(4-(oxiran-2-yl)butoxy)-1,1'-biphenyl (4) were synthesized and characterized. Furthermore, they were cured with decanedioic acid to produce polymers. Results showed that alkyl chains can both affect the two properties, and the epoxies suitable for specific application scenarios can be prepared by adjusting the length of alkyl chains. In terms of thermal conductivity, compound 1 was a most promising material. However, compound 4 was expected to be utilized in flexible electronic devices because of its acceptable thermal conductivity, self-healing ability, transparency, and flexibility.

RESUMO

A high-speed circular polarization converter (CPC) with a wide field of view (FOV) and wavelength range is designed and fabricated in this paper. The multi-waveplate combined structure is applied to constitute the basic configuration of the CPC for broadening the wavelength range. An electrically suppressed helix ferroelectric liquid crystal (ESHFLC) material with fast response is used as a medium for dynamic polarization operation. The compensation films are used to expand the FOV by attaching to the configuration. The simulation results demonstrate that the optimized CPC structure can achieve over 97% orthogonal circular polarization conversion efficiency in 300 nm bandwidth at a 90° viewing cone for both working states. Finally, we have experiments and the results show well consistency with the theoretical results.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: The study aimed to explore the therapeutic effects of direct anterior internal fixation with Herbert screws on hip joint function and quality of life in patients with Pipkin type II femoral head fractures (FHF). METHODS: From Dec 2017 to Jul 2020, 68 patients with Pipkin type II FHF were received in our hospital and divided into two groups. The direct anterior internal fixation (DAIF) group including 34 cases were treated by direct anterior internal fixation with Herbert screws. The control group of 34 patients received modified internal fixation with Herbert screws via posterior superior iliac spine and ectogluteus. The duration time and blood loss in operation as well as the postoperative drainage volume, hospital stays and complications were observed. The comparison of pain degree, hip functions, and life quality between two groups was performed. RESULTS: All the patients were followed up, and the operative time, intraoperative blood loss, postoperative drainage and hospital stay of the DAIF group were all significantly lower than those in the control group, with (p < 0.05, respectively). The pain degree of the DAIF group was significantly lower than that of the control group 7, 15 and 30 days after the operation (p < 0.05, respectively). At 3, 6 and 9 months after the operation, the hip function recovery of the DAIF group was significantly better than control group (p < 0.05). There were no significant differences between the two groups in preoperative physiological function, physiological function, emotional role, physical pain, general health, vitality, social function and mental health (p > 0.05). Six months after the operation, the physiological function, physiological function, emotional role, physical pain, general health, vitality, social function and mental health of the DAIF group were significantly higher than those of the control group (p < 0.05). No postoperative complications occurred in both groups. CONCLUSION: The treatment of directly anterior internal fixation with Herbert screws is effective for Pipkin type II FHF, like improving the function of hip joint and quality of life in patients. The method is reliable and worth clinical use.

RESUMO

Low-voltage fast switchable 1D and 2D Fibonacci grating (FbG), using an electrically suppressed helix ferroelectric liquid crystal (ESHFLC), with high diffraction efficiency for a super-resolution imaging system in far-field are disclosed in this paper. Specifically, the polarization-independent two-domain (0, π) structure is well designed based on photoalignment technology to maximize the total diffraction efficiency that can reach 97.4% (1st order:8.5%, 2nd order: 30%). Apart from that, the FLC gratings offer two tunable states: non-diffractive and diffractive states. Derived from the fast-response property of ferroelectric liquid crystal material, the switching speed of the 1D and 2D ESHFLC-FbG is 103µs at 4 V of the driving voltage. Furthermore, this system achieves the high-resolving power of (λ/2.25) for object detection based upon the intensity map received behind 1D ESHFLC-FbG at far-field. Contribution from the quasi-periodic FbG's special ability to translate the super-resolution information (including at evanescent wave) into the detectable far-field region. Concisely, the proposed ESHFLC-FbG can be a promising candidate for a super-resolution imaging system, superstructure fibre sensor, and other photonic applications.

RESUMO

Optical devices like virtual reality (VR) headsets present challenges in terms of vergence-accommodation conflict that leads to visual fatigue for the user over time. Lenses available to meet these challenges include liquid crystal (LC) lenses, which possess a response time in the millisecond range. This response time is slow, while accessing multiple focal lengths. A ferroelectric liquid crystal (FLC) has a response time in the microsecond range. In this article, we disclose a switchable lens device having a combination of the fast FLC-based polarization rotation unit and a passive polarization-dependent LC lens. A cascaded combination of three such lens units allows access to eight different focal points quite rapidly and can be a convenient device for VR applications.

RESUMO

Bovine leukemia is a chronic, progressive, contagious tumor disease characterized by malignant lymphoid cell hyperplasia and systemic lymphadenopathy, and is caused by bovine leukemia virus (BLV). The disease affects almost all countries and regions where livestock are raised, and may even be a potential zoonotic disease. Monitoring and early prevention of bovine leukemia is very important. Therefore, we conducted this meta-analysis, the first of its type in the country, to estimate the prevalence of bovine leukemia in 1983-2019 in China. We included a total of 35 publications reported in 1983-2019 from the PubMed, ScienceDirect, Chinese Web of Knowledge (CNKI), VIP Chinese, and Wan Fang databases. In those articles, a total of 34,954 cattle had been tested, of which 4701 were positive for BLV infection. The estimated pooled BLV prevalence was 10.0% (4701/34,954). Subgroup analysis showed that there were significant differences for sampling years, detection methods, and age. BLV prevalence was highest in the following subgroups: sampled before 1985 (38.5%, 437/1134), age 3-5 years (22.5%, 231/1044), and detected by PCR (17.9%, 1228/5100). Regarding geographic factors, there were significant differences in the latitude and elevation subgroups. BLV prevalence was lowest in the subgroups of 20-30° latitude (3.3%, 255/5069) 200-1000 m altitude (2.2%, 560/11,990). We also analyzed other subgroups such as region, variety, breeding method, precipitation, humidity, and temperature, however, the differences were not significant. Our research indicated that the BLV was still prevalent in some of areas in China. We recommend strengthening the testing of cattle aged >1 year and using flexible testing methods such as PCR to control the prevalence of bovine leukemia and to prevent persistent infection.

RESUMO

The nerve conduits have been developed for nerve defect repair. However, no artificial conduits have obtained comparable results to autografts to bridge the large gaps. A possible reason for this poor performance may be a lack of sustainable neurotrophic support for axonal regrowth. Previous studies suggested nanocomposite conduits can be used as a carrier for valproic acid (VPA), a common drug that can produce effects similar to the neurotrophic factors. Here, we developed the novel bioabsorbable conduits based on hydroxyapatite/poly d-l-lactic acid (PDLLA)/poly{(lactic acid)-co-[(glycolic acid)-alt-(l-lysine)]} with sustained release of VPA. Firstly, the sustained release of VPA in this conduit was examined by high-performance liquid chromatography. Then Schwann cells were treated with the conduit extracts. The cell metabolic activity and proliferation were assayed by 3-[4,5-dimethyl-2-thiazolyl]-2,5-diphenyl-2-tetrazolium bromide and bromodeoxyuridine staining. A 10-mm segment of rat sciatic nerve was resected and then repaired, respectively, using the VPA conduit (Group A), the PDLLA conduit (Group B), or the autografts (Group C). Nerve conduction velocities (NCVs), compound muscle action potentials (CMAPs), and histological staining were assayed following the surgery. The cell metabolic activity and proliferation were significantly increased (p < .05) by the extracts from VPA-conduit extract compared to others. NCVs and CMAPs were significantly higher in Groups A and C than Group B (p < .05). The nerve density of Groups A and C was higher than Group B. There was no significant difference between Groups A and C. Taken together, this study suggested the sustained-release VPA conduit promoted peripheral nerve regeneration that was comparable to the autografts. It holds potential for future use in nerve regeneration.

RESUMO

microRNAs (miRNAs) have recently been recognized as playing an important role in bone-associated diseases. This study investigated whether the reduced miR-155-5p in steroid-associated osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH) attenuated osteogenic differentiation and cell proliferation by targeting GSK3B. Bone marrow was collected from the proximal femurs of patients with steroid-associated ONFH (n = 10) and patients with new femoral neck fracture (n = 10) and mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) were isolated. The expression profile, the biological function of miR-155-5p, and the interaction between miR-155-5p and GSK3B were investigated by cell viability measurement, western blot, real-time polymerase chain reaction, luciferase reporter assay, and Alizarin Red S (ARS) staining of MSCs. The MSCs that were obtained from the femoral neck fracture group and from the steroid-associated ONFH group were transfected with or without miR-155-5p. We found that, in ONFH samples, the level of mature miR-155-5p was significantly lower than that of control samples. By inhibiting GSK3B, miR-155-5p promoted the nuclear translocation of ß-catenin, increased the expression of osteogenesis-related genes, and facilitated the proliferation and differentiation of MSCs. Restoring the expression of GSK3B in MSCs partially reversed the effect of miR-155-5p. These findings suggest that reduced miR-155-5p in steroid-associated ONFH attenuates osteogenic differentiation and cell proliferation by increased levels of GSK3B and inhibition of Wnt signaling.

RESUMO

Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) were reported to be involved in the progression of osteoarthritis (OA). The aim of this work was to explore the functional role of lncRNA nuclear-enriched abundant transcript 1 (NEAT1) in OA. Reverse-transcription quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) was employed to analyze the expression of microRNA (miR-193a)-3p, NEAT1, and sex-determining region Y-box protein 5 (SOX5), as well as the levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines interleukin-6 (IL-6), IL-1ß, tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), and IL-8 in OA cartilage tissue and chondrocytes. In addition, flow cytometry was used to measure the apoptosis of chondrocytes. The protein levels of extracellular matrix ACAN, collagen type II α1 chain (Col2a1), matrix metalloproteinase-3 (MMP-3), MMP-13, a disintegrin, and metalloproteinase with thrombospondin motifs (ADAMTS)-5 and SOX5 were determined using western blot analysis. Dual-luciferase reporter assay was performed to determine the target relationship among NEAT1, miR-193a-3p, and SOX5. We found that miR-193a-3p expression was downregulated, while NEAT1 and SOX5 were upregulated in OA cartilage tissue and chondrocytes. Both upregulation of miR-193a-3p and knockdown of NEAT1 suppressed inflammation, apoptosis, and reduced the protein levels of MMP-3, MMP-13, and ADAMTS-5, while elevating ACAN and Col2a1 expression in chondrocytes. NEAT1 targeted miR-193a-3p, and SOX5 was targeted by miR-193a-3p. Silencing of miR-193a-3p reversed the NEAT1 knockdown-mediated effect on the inflammation, apoptosis, and production of the extracellular matrix. The introduction of SOX5 abolished the impact of the upregulation of miR-193a-3p on inflammation, apoptosis, and production of extracellular matrix in chondrocytes. In conclusion, NEAT1/miR-193a-3p/SOX5 axis regulates cartilage matrix degradation in human OA.

RESUMO

We propose an all-silicon-based nano-antenna that functions as not only a wavelength demultiplexer but also a polarization one. The nano-antenna is composed of two silicon cuboids with the same length and height but with different widths. The asymmetric structure of the nano-antenna with respect to the electric field of the incident light induced an electric dipole component in the propagation direction of the incident light. The interference between this electric dipole and the magnetic dipole induced by the magnetic field parallel to the long side of the cuboids is exploited to manipulate the radiation direction of the nano-antenna. The radiation direction of the nano-antenna at a certain wavelength depends strongly on the phase difference between the electric and magnetic dipoles interacting coherently, offering us the opportunity to realize wavelength demultiplexing. By varying the polarization of the incident light, the interference of the magnetic dipole induced by the asymmetry of the nano-antenna and the electric dipole induced by the electric field parallel to the long side of the cuboids can also be used to realize polarization demultiplexing in a certain wavelength range. More interestingly, the interference between the dipole and quadrupole modes of the nano-antenna can be utilized to shape the radiation directivity of the nano-antenna. We demonstrate numerically that radiation with adjustable direction and high directivity can be realized in such a nano-antenna which is compatible with the current fabrication technology of silicon chips.

RESUMO

Aleutian mink disease is the most important disease in the mink-farming industry worldwide. So far, few large-scale molecular epidemiological studies of AMDV, based on the NS1 and VP2 genes, have been conducted in China. Here, eight new Chinese isolates of AMDV from three provinces in north-east China were analyzed to clarify the molecular epidemiology of AMDV. The seroprevalence of AMDV in north-east China was 41.8% according to counterimmuno-electrophoresis. Genetic variation analysis of the eight isolates showed significant non-synonymous substitutions in the NS1 and VP2 genes, especially in the NS1 gene. All eight isolates included the caspase-recognition sequence NS1:285 (DQTD↓S), but not the caspase recognition sequence NS1:227 (INTD↓S). The LN1 and LN2 strains had a new 10-amino-acid deletion in-between amino acids 28-37, while the JL3 strain had a one-amino-acid deletion at position 28 in the VP2 protein, compared with the AMDV-G strain. Phylogenetic analysis based on most of NS1 (1755 bp) and complete VP2 showed that the AMDV genotypes did not cluster according to their pathogenicity or geographic origin. Local and imported ADMV species are all prevalent in mink-farming populations in the north-east of China. This is the first study to report the molecular epidemiology of AMDV in north-east China based on most of NS1 and the complete VP2, and further provides information about polyG deletions and new variations in the amino acid sequences of NS1 and VP2 proteins. This report is a good foundation for further study of AMDV in China.

RESUMO

This paper describes a small range six-axis accelerometer (the measurement range of the sensor is ±g) with high sensitivity DCB (Double Cantilever Beam) elastic element. This sensor is developed based on a parallel mechanism because of the reliability. The accuracy of sensors is affected by its sensitivity characteristics. To improve the sensitivity, a DCB structure is applied as the elastic element. Through dynamic analysis, the dynamic model of the accelerometer is established using the Lagrange equation, and the mass matrix and stiffness matrix are obtained by a partial derivative calculation and a conservative congruence transformation, respectively. By simplifying the structure of the accelerometer, a model of the free vibration is achieved, and the parameters of the sensor are designed based on the model. Through stiffness analysis of the DCB structure, the deflection curve of the beam is calculated. Compared with the result obtained using a finite element analysis simulation in ANSYS Workbench, the coincidence rate of the maximum deflection is 89.0% along the x-axis, 88.3% along the y-axis and 87.5% along the z-axis. Through strain analysis of the DCB elastic element, the sensitivity of the beam is obtained. According to the experimental result, the accuracy of the theoretical analysis is found to be 90.4% along the x-axis, 74.9% along the y-axis and 78.9% along the z-axis. The measurement errors of linear accelerations ax, ay and az in the experiments are 2.6%, 0.6% and 1.31%, respectively. The experiments prove that accelerometer with DCB elastic element performs great sensitive and precision characteristics.

RESUMO

The migration and proliferation of keratinocytes are critical for re-epithelization during chronic wound healing. Runt-related transcription factor 1 (RUNX1) has been indicated to repress keratinocyte proliferation. Nonetheless, the potential molecular mechanism of RUNX1 in regulating keratinocyte proliferation and migration remains unclear. Cell counting kit-8 and wound-healing assays were implemented for examining keratinocyte viability and migration, respectively. Western blotting and real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction were utilized for quantifying protein and RNA levels. Luciferase reporter assay was employed for verifying the interaction between RUNX1, miR-17-5p, and long noncoding RNA H19. The results showed that RUNX1 depletion promoted keratinocyte proliferation and migration and repressed extracellular matrix degradation. Mechanistically, H19 upregulated RUNX1 expression by competitively absorbing miR-17-5p. Rescue experiments revealed that overexpressing RUNX1 reversed H19 silencing-mediated effects on the phenotypes of keratinocytes. In conclusion, H19 knockdown promotes keratinocyte proliferation and migration and suppresses extracellular matrix degradation via the miR-17-5p/RUNX1 axis.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: Muscle wasting frequently occurs following joint trauma. Previous research has demonstrated that joint distraction in combination with treadmill exercise (TRE) can mitigate intra-articular inflammation and cartilage damage, consequently delaying the advancement of post-traumatic osteoarthritis (PTOA). However, the precise mechanism underlying this phenomenon remains unclear. Hence, the purpose of this study was to examine whether the mechanism by which TRE following joint distraction delays the progression of PTOA involves the activation of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma coactivator 1-alpha (PGC-1α), as well as its impact on muscle wasting. METHODS: Quadriceps samples were collected from patients with osteoarthritis (OA) and normal patients with distal femoral fractures, and the expression of PGC-1α was measured. The hinged external fixator was implanted in the rabbit PTOA model. One week after surgery, a PGC-1α agonist or inhibitor was administered for 4 weeks prior to TRE. Western blot analysis was performed to detect the expression of PGC-1α and Muscle atrophy gene 1 (Atrogin-1). We employed the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) technique to examine pro-inflammatory factors. Additionally, we utilized quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) to analyze genes associated with cartilage regeneration. Synovial inflammation and cartilage damage were evaluated through hematoxylin-eosin staining. Furthermore, we employed Masson's trichrome staining and Alcian blue staining to analyze cartilage damage. RESULTS: The decreased expression of PGC-1α in skeletal muscle in patients with OA is correlated with the severity of OA. In the rabbit PTOA model, TRE following joint distraction inhibited the expressions of muscle wasting genes, including Atrogin-1 and muscle ring finger 1 (MuRF1), as well as inflammatory factors such as interleukin-1ß (IL-1ß) and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) in skeletal muscle, potentially through the activation of PGC-1α. Concurrently, the production of IL-1ß, IL-6, TNF-α, nitric oxide (NO), and malondialdehyde (MDA) in the synovial fluid was down-regulated, while the expression of type II collagen (Col2a1), Aggrecan (AGN), SRY-box 9 (SOX9) in the cartilage, and superoxide dismutase (SOD) in the synovial fluid was up-regulated. Additionally, histological staining results demonstrated that TRE after joint distraction reduced cartilage degeneration, leading to a significant decrease in OARSI scores.TRE following joint distraction could activate PGC-1α, inhibit Atrogin-1 expression in skeletal muscle, and reduce C-telopeptides of type II collagen (CTX-II) in the blood compared to joint distraction alone. CONCLUSION: Following joint distraction, TRE might promote the activation of PGC-1α in skeletal muscle during PTOA progression to exert anti-inflammatory effects in skeletal muscle and joint cavity, thereby inhibiting muscle wasting and promoting cartilage regeneration, making it a potential therapeutic intervention for treating PTOA.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: Elderly patients with hip fractures are at a greater risk of developing postoperative delirium (POD), which significantly impacts their recovery and overall quality of life. Neuroinflammation is a pathogenic mechanism of POD. Taohong Siwu Decoction (THSWD), known for its ability to promote blood circulation and remove blood stasis, can effectively reduce inflammation in the nervous system. Therefore, the objective of this article is to provide a comprehensive summary of the clinical efficacy of THSWD in the prevention of POD. Additionally, it aims to investigate the underlying mechanism of THSWD in the prevention and treatment of POD using network pharmacology and molecular docking. METHODS: We conducted a retrospective analysis of patients with intertrochanteric fractures between January 2016 and October 2021. The patients were divided into two groups: the control and THSWD group. We performed a comparative analysis of hemoglobin (HB), albumin (ALB), C-reactive protein (CRP), blood urea nitrogen (BUN), and the blood urea nitrogen to creatinine ratio (BCR) on two different time points: the day before surgery (D0) and the third day after surgery (D3). Furthermore, we examined the incidence and duration of delirium, as well as the Harris Hip Score (HHS) at 3 months and 12 months post-surgery. Network pharmacology was employed to identify the primary targets and mechanisms of THSWD in the management of delirium. Molecular docking was employed to confirm the interaction between active ingredients and COX-2. Inflammatory cytokines, including cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), interleukin-1ß (IL-1ß), interleukin-6 (IL-6), and tumor necrosis factor- (TNF-α), were measured using the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The cognitive status of the patients was assessed using the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) scoring system. RESULTS: Regardless of whether it is in D0 or D3, THSWD treatment can increase HB levels while decreasing BCR. In D3, the THSWD group demonstrated a significant reduction in the expression of CRP and BUN when compared to the control group. However, there were no significant differences in ABL levels, surgery duration, and blood loss between the two groups. Additionally, THSWD treatment requires fewer blood transfusions and can reduce the incidence and duration of POD. The results of the logistic analysis suggest that both CRP levels and BCR independently contribute to the risk of POD. Network pharmacology analysis indicates that THSWD has the potential to prevent and treat POD possibly through inflammatory pathways such as IL-17 signaling pathways and NF-kappa B signaling pathways. Molecular docking validated the interaction between the active ingredient of THSWD and COX-2. Furthermore, THSWD treatment can reduce the levels of COX-2, IL-1ß, IL-6, TNF-α, BUN and CRP in the blood of patients with POD, increase HB levels, and enhance MMSE scores. The expression of COX-2 is positively associated with other inflammatory markers (IL-1ß, IL-6, TNF-α, and CRP), and inversely associated with MMSE. CONCLUSION: THSWD has been found to have a preventive and therapeutic effect on POD in intertrochanteric fracture patients possibly through inflammatory pathways. This effect may be attributed to its ability to increase hemoglobin levels and reduce the levels of certain detrimental factors, such as blood urea nitrogen and inflammatory factors.

RESUMO

Garnering inspiration from biological compound eyes, artificial vision systems boasting a vivid range of diverse visual functional traits have come to the fore recently. However, most of these artificial systems rely on transformable electronics, which suffer from the complexity and constrained geometry of global deformation, as well as potential mismatches between optical and detector units. Here, we present a unique pinhole compound eye that combines a three-dimensionally printed honeycomb optical structure with a hemispherical, all-solid-state, high-density perovskite nanowire photodetector array. The lens-free pinhole structure can be designed and fabricated with an arbitrary layout to match the underlying image sensor. Optical simulations and imaging results matched well with each other and substantiated the key characteristics and capabilities of our system, which include an ultrawide field of view, accurate target positioning, and motion tracking function. We further demonstrate the potential of our unique compound eye for advanced robotic vision by successfully completing a moving target tracking mission.

RESUMO

Burn wounds require intervention to ensure timely progression to reduce morbidity and mortality. The migrative and proliferative capabilities of keratinocytes are impaired in wounds. Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) can degrade the extracellular matrix (ECM), allowing epithelial cells to migrate. As reported, osteopontin can regulate cell migration, cell adhesion, and ECM invasion in endothelial and epithelial cells, and its expression is significantly increased in chronic wounds. Therefore, this study investigates the biological functions of osteopontin and its related mechanisms involved in burn wounds. We established cellular and animal models of burn injury. Levels of osteopontin, RUNX1, MMPs, collagen I, CK19, PCNA, and pathway-associated proteins were measured by RT-qPCR, western blotting, and immunofluorescence staining. Cell viability and migration were examined by CCK-8 and wound scratch assays. Histological changes were analyzed by hematoxylin and eosin staining and Masson's trichrome staining. For in vitro analysis, osteopontin silencing facilitated the growth and migration of HaCaT cells and promoted ECM degradation in HaCaT cells. Mechanistically, RUNX1 bound to osteopontin promoter, and RUNX1 upregulation attenuated the promoting efficacy of osteopontin silencing on cell growth and migration and ECM degradation. Additionally, RUNX1-activated osteopontin inactivated the MAPK signaling pathway. For in vivo analysis, osteopontin depletion facilitated burn wound healing by promoting reepithelialization and ECM degradation. In conclusion, RUNX1 activates the osteopontin expression at the transcriptional level and osteopontin depletion facilitates the recovery of burn wounds by promoting the migration of keratinocytes and reepithelization and ECM degradation by activating the MAPK pathway.

RESUMO

Objective: This study aims to investigate the composition and function of the gut microbiome in long-term depression using an 8-week chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS) rat model. Materials and methods: Animals were sacrificed after either 4 weeks or 8 weeks under CUMS to mimic long-term depression in humans. The gut microbiome was analyzed to identify potential depression-related gut microbes, and the fecal metabolome was analyzed to detect their functional metabolites. The correlations between altered gut microbes and metabolites in the long-term depression rats were explored. The crucial metabolic pathways related to long-term depression were uncovered through enrichment analysis based on these gut microbes and metabolites. Results: The microbial composition of long-term depression (8-week CUMS) showed decreased species richness indices and different profiles compared with the control group and the 4-week CUMS group, characterized by disturbance of Alistipes indistinctus, Bacteroides ovatus, and Alistipes senegalensis at the species level. Additionally, long-term depression was associated with disturbances in fecal metabolomics. D-pinitol was the only increased metabolite in the 8-week CUMS group among the top 10 differential metabolites, while the top 3 decreased metabolites in the long-term depression rats included indoxyl sulfate, trimethylaminen-oxide, and 3 alpha,7 alpha-dihydroxy-12-oxocholanoic acid. The disordered fecal metabolomics in the long-term depression rats mainly involved the biosynthesis of pantothenate, CoA, valine, leucine and isoleucine. Conclusion: Our findings suggest that the gut microbiome may participate in the long-term development of depression, and the mechanism may be related to the regulation of gut metabolism.

RESUMO

Spherical geometry, adaptive optics, and highly dense network of neurons bridging the eye with the visual cortex, are the primary features of human eyes which enable wide field-of-view (FoV), low aberration, excellent adaptivity, and preprocessing of perceived visual information. Therefore, fabricating spherical artificial eyes has garnered enormous scientific interest. However, fusing color vision, in-device preprocessing and optical adaptivity into spherical artificial eyes has always been a tremendous challenge. Herein, we demonstrate a bionic eye comprising tunable liquid crystal optics, and a hemispherical neuromorphic retina with filter-free color vision, enabled by wavelength dependent bidirectional synaptic photo-response in a metal-oxide nanotube/perovskite nanowire hybrid structure. Moreover, by tuning the color selectivity with bias, the device can reconstruct full color images. This work demonstrates a unique approach to address the color vision and optical adaptivity issues associated with artificial eyes that can bring them to a new level approaching their biological counterparts.
