The vegan food industry is gaining popularity nowadays. Ganoderma sp. is mainly used in the health and food industries as a medicinal, edible mushroom with high nutritional potential. Through two-stage cultivation methods, the study optimized the production of mycelial pellets for vegetarian food. When soybean powder was used as an alternative to egg yolk powder to meet vegetarian requirements, the number of pellets increased from 1100 to 1800 particles/dL, however, the pellet diameter reduced up to 22% (3.2-2.6 mm). The culture was expanded to the second stage using the Taguchi method coupled with Plackett-Burman Design and quantification by ImageJ software for enlarging pellets size. The optimal conditions were 10 mL of the first-stage broth inoculum, yeast powder (0.5 g/dL), glucose (0.5 g/dL), and MgSO4 (0.2 g/dL) at 100 rpm in the dark for 7 days. In 500 mL pilot scale production, the biomass yield was 0.31 g/dL and 3400 mycelium pellets/dL with a 5.2 mm diameter with appearance characteristics suitable for direct development as food. The study may help to develop a novel pellet food of filamentous fungi for the vegetarian market. At present, due to the influence of global warming, seasonal change, diurnal variation, and eutrophication of the water body, hypoxia has become one of the major factors limiting the stable development of cobia (Rachycentron canadum) culture. In this study, the miRNAs involved in hypoxia stress were screened, and the target genes of miRNAs were annotated and analyzed. The results showed that a total of 184 conservative microRNA (miRNA) and 121 newly predicted miRNA were obtained by sequencing the liver of control (C) and hypoxic (dissolved oxygen, DO (2.64 ± 0.25) mg/L; 3 h) (S) groups. The pathways involved in energy metabolism included starch and sucrose metabolism (ko00500), glycosaminoglycan degradation (ko00531), and galactose metabolism (ko00052). The results indicate that the body maintains physiological activities by regulating some important pathways at the transcriptional level under hypoxia stress, such as the conversion of aerobic metabolism and anaerobic metabolism, the reduction of energy consumption, and the promotion of red blood cell proliferation to maintain the homeostasis of the body.

Persulfate could be activated by zero-valent iron (ZVI) leading to the rapid removal of various contaminants. However, quick consumption of Fe2+ largely constrained the removal (%) of target pollutants. Here it was reported that Na2S2O8 (SP) combined with ZVI, as an external source of Fe2+, was activated by Fe2+ to quickly (minutes scale) and efficiently (more than 90%) remove As (III) from aqueous solution at an initial pH value from 1.0 to 9.0. As (III) removal was obviously improved by an increase of Fe2+ rather than Na2S2O8 dosage. The removal of As (III) using Fe2+-SP-ZVI system followed the pseudo-second-order kinetic and pseudo-first-order kinetic expression. Fe2+ from ZVI oxidization could improve the efficient generation of , which obviously boosted ZVI corrosion. The production of could be manipulated by oxalic acid, ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA), citric acid and phosphates through controlling the concentration of dissociative Fe2+, leading to an obvious repression on As (III) removal. The fitting of X-ray absorption fine structure (XAFS) spectra illustrated that the interatomic distance of As-O shell was located between As(III)-O and As(V)-O shell and external Fe2+ could promote the oxidation of As (III) to As (V) from 35.6% in 1.0 min-44.5% in 10.0 min. Goethite as the main component of iron oxyhydroxides might play a significant role of As (III) adsorption in Fe2+-SP-ZVI system. These findings are crucial for knowing the fate and transport of arsenic under permeable reactive barriers.

In this work, a CE method was developed to separate five anthraquinones: aloe-emodin, rhein, emodin, chrysophanol, and physcion. The CE method used a nano-sized metal organic framework MIL-101 (nMIL-101) as pseudostationary phase (PSP) and sorbent for dispersed particle extraction (DPE). The nMIL-101 was synthesized by microwave technique and was characterized by UV-vis, TEM, Zeta potential, X-ray diffraction spectrometry and micropore physisorption. In this method, anthraquinones were adsorbed by nMIL-101 of a fast kinetics within 10 min and then separated by CE. The CE conditions were optimized considering time, pH, buffer ionic strength, and nanoparticles concentration. The optimal CE condition is using 20 mM sodium borate buffer (pH 9.1) containing 15% methanol (v/v) and 400 mg/L nMIL-101 as additives within 8 min. The LODs varied from 24 to 57 µg/L, which were lower than those previously reported. Our method has been successfully applied to determine trace anthraquinones in environmental water samples.

The nickel-catalyzed intermolecular cycloadditions of benzocyclobutenones with 1,3-dienes developed by Martin and co-workers are featured with the exclusive proximal C-C bond cleavage and a high chemoselectivity of the [4+4] over the [4+2] cycloaddition. In this report, the detailed reaction mechanism and the origins of the selectivities were investigated by means of density functional theory calculations. The results show that the reaction is initiated by a C-C oxidative addition of the benzocyclobutenone to form the five-membered nickelacycles. A subsequent exo 1,4-insertion/C-C reductive elimination and an endo 1,4-insertion/C-C reductive elimination lead to the [4+4] and [4+2] cycloaddition products, respectively. The 1,4-insertion of the 1,3-diene into the Ni-C bond was calculated to be the rate- and selectivity-determining step of the reaction. The calculations reproduced quite well the experimentally observed exclusive proximal C-C bond cleavage and the high chemoselectivity of the [4+4] over the [4+2] cycloaddition. In particular, it was found that the steric repulsion between the phosphine ligand and the α-substituent of the benzocyclobutenone has a dramatic impact on the 1,4-insertion, which enables the experimentally observed selectivities.

RESUMO

A novel method with high sensitivity for the rapid determination of chrysin, apigenin and luteolin in environment water samples was developed by double-pumps controlled on-line solid-phase extraction (SPE) coupled with high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). In the developed technique, metal organic framework MIL-101 was synthesized and applied as a sorbent for SPE. The as-synthesized MIL-101 was characterized by scanning electron microscope, X-ray diffraction spectrometry, thermal gravimetric analysis and micropore physisorption analysis. The MIL-101 behaved as a fast kinetics in the adsorption of chrysin, apigenin and luteolin. On-line SPE of chrysin, apigenin and luteolin was processed by loading a sample solution at a flow rate of 1.0 mL/min for 10 min. The extracted analytes were subsequently eluted into a ZORBAX Bonus-RP analytical column (25 cm long × 4.6 mm i.d.) for HPLC separation under isocratic condition with a mobile phase (MeOH: ACN: 0.02 M H3 PO4 = 35:35:30) at a flow rate of 1.0 mL/min. Experimental conditions, including ionic strength, sample pH, sample loading rates, sample loading time and desorption analytes time, were further optimized to obtain efficient preconcentration and high-precision determination of the analytes mentioned above. The method achieved the merits of simplicity, rapidity, sensitivity, wide linear range and high sample throughput. The possible mechanism for the adsorption of flavonoids on MIL-101 was proposed. The developed method has been applied to determine trace chrysin, apigenin and luteolin in a variety of environmental water samples.

A bidentate ligand, 1-{4-[4-(1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)phenoxy]phenyl}-1H-1,2,4-triazole (TPPT), has been designed and synthesized. By using TPPT as a building block for self-assembly with Cd(NO3 )2 ⋅4 H2 O and CdCl2 ⋅10.5 H2 O, novel 1D double-chain {[Cd(TPPT)(NO3 )2 ]⋅3 H2 O}n (1) and 2D (4,4) layer [Cd(TPPT)Cl2 (H2 O)]n (2) have been constructed. When 1 was employed as a precursor and exposed to DMF or N,N'-dimethylacetamide (DMAC), the crystals of 1 dissolved and reassembled into two types of brown block-shaped crystals of 1D double chains: {[Cd(TPPT)2 (NO3 )2 ]⋅DMF}n (1 a) and {[Cd(TPPT)2 (NO3 )2 ]⋅DMAC}n (1 b). The anion-exchange reactions of complex 2 have also been investigated. After gently stirring crystals of 2 in CHCl3 /C2 H5 OH/H2 O containing NaBr, NaI⋅2 H2 O, or NaOAc⋅3 H2 O, the crystals retained their crystalline appearances. A remarkable single crystal to single crystal transformation was observed and 1D double chains of {[Cd(TPPT)Br2 ]⋅C2 H5 OH}n (2 a) and {[Cd(TPPT)2 I2 ]⋅CHCl3 }n (2 b), and 1D single chains of [Cd(TPPT)(H2 O)2 (CH3 COO)2 ]n (2 c), can be obtained. Luminescent properties indicate that 1 shows excellent selectivity for Ca(2+) and cyano complexes. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first example of a luminescent probe for Ca(2+) based on triazole derivatives.

IgD is considered to be a recently-evolved Ig and a puzzling molecule, being previously found in all vertebrate taxa, except for birds. Although IgD likely plays an important role in vertebrate immune responses, the function of IgD in Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) is virtually unknown. In the present study, a membrane form of IgD (mIgD) heavy chains were cloned from the GIFT strain of Nile tilapia (designated On-mIgD). The On-mIgD heavy chain's cDNA is composed of 3347 bp with a 31 bp of 5'-UTR, 3015 bp open reading frame (ORF) and 301 bp 3'-UTR, encoding a polypeptide of 1004 amino acids (GenBank accession no: KF530821). Phylogenetic analysis revealed that On-mIgD heavy chains showed the highest similarity to Siniperca chuatsi. Quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) analysis showed that On-mIgD expression occurred predominately in head kidney, thymus, spleen, and kidney. After Streptococcus agalactiae infection, transcripts of On-mIgD increased and reached its peak at 48 h in the head kidney and thymus, and 72 h in the spleen, respectively. Taken together, these results collectively indicated that IgD could possibly have a key role to play in the immune response when bacterial infections in Nile tilapia.

Objective To observe the prevention of Fangshuan Capsule (FC) on percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) induced myocardial damage and vascular endothelial injury in patients with un- stable angina pectoris (UAP). Methods Totally 100 UAP patients undergoing PCI were assigned to the control group and the treatment group by random digit table, 50 in each group. All patients received routine Western medicine therapy. Those in the treatment group additionally took FC, 6 pills each time, three times per day for at least 2 days before PCI operation. The therapeutic course for each group was 2 weeks. The clinical therapeutic effect was observed in the two groups. Heart rate (HR), systolic blood pressure (SBP) , changes of myocardial oxygen consumption ( HR x SBP, kPa/min) were compared. The levels of serum troponin I (cTn 1), creatinine kinase-MB (CK-MB) , myoglobin (MYO) , endothelin (ET), and nitric oxide (NO) were measured before PCI, and 6, 12, 24 h, 3 and 7 days after PCI. Results The markedly effective rate of Chinese medical syndromes was 54% (17/50) and the total effective rate was 94% (47/50) in the treatment group, obviously higher than those of the control group [26% (13/50) and 88% (44/50) ; P <0. 01]. Compared with before treatment in the same group, HR, SBP, myocardial oxygen consumption, and plasma ET level were reduced, plasma NO level was elevated in two groups after treatment (P <0.05, P <0. 01). cTnl concentration increased at 6, 12, 24 h, and day 3 (P <0. 05, P <0. 01 ) ; CK-MB concentration was elevated at 6, 12, and 24 h (P <0. 05, P <0. 01) ; MYO concentration increased at 6 and 12 h (P < 0. 01) in the control group after treatment. cTnl concentration increased at 12 and 24 h (P <0. 05, P <0. 01); CK-MB concentration was elevated at 6 and 12 h (P <0. 05) ; MYO concentration increased at 6 h (P <0. 01) in the treatment group after treatment. Compared with the control group at the same time point, HR, myocardial oxygen consumption, and plasma ET level decreased (P <0. 05); cTnl decreased at 6, 12, and 24 h (P <0. 05); CK-MB concentration decreased at 12 h (P <0. 05); MYO concentration decreased at 6 and 12 h (P <0. 05) in the treatment group after treatment. Conclusion FC could effectively improve scores of Chinese medical syndromes after PCI surgery, reduce myocardial oxygen consumption, attenuate myocar- dial damage and vascular endothelial injury in UAP patients after PCI.

Salinity has significant effects on nitrification and denitrification processes, particularly in estuarine systems. A dissolved oxygen-enriched river and its estuary in northern China were selected to investigate the impact of salinity gradients (0.6, 4, 7.6, 11.4 and 14.7‰) obtained from the mixing of river samples and estuarine samples with different proportions on coupled nitrification and aerobic denitrification via incubation experiments (35 and 10 °C). Results indicated that: (a) nitrification and coupled nitrification-aerobic denitrification occurred for all treatments, which resulted in NO3- being either accumulated or removed at the end of the incubation; (b) a suitable range of salinity is 4.0-11.4‰ for nitrification and 4.0-7.6‰ for coupled nitrification-aerobic denitrification; and (c) the relatively higher temperature (35 °C) can effectively stimulate N transformation processes compared to the lover temperature (10 °C) in the incubation experiment.

The eutrophication problem of drinking water source is directly related to the security of urban water supplication, and phosphorus has been proved as an important element to the water quality of the most northern hemisphere lakes and reservoirs. In the paper, 15-year monitoring records (1990∼2004) of Yuqiao Reservoir were used to model the changing trend of the total phosphorus (TP), analyze the uncertainty of nutrient parameters, and estimate the threshold of eutrophication management at a specific water quality goal by the application of Bayesian method through chemical material balance (CMB) model. The results revealed that Yuqiao Reservoir was a P-controlled water ecosystem, and the inner concentration of TP in the reservoir was significantly correlated with TP loading concentration, hydraulic retention coefficient, and bottom water dissolved oxygen concentration. In the case, the goal of water quality for TP in the reservoir was set to be 0.05 mg L(-1) (the third level of national surface water standard for reservoirs according to GB3838-2002), management measures could be taken to improve water quality in reservoir through controlling the highest inflow phosphorus concentration (0.15∼0.21 mg L(-1)) and the lowest DO concentration (3.76∼5.59 mg L(-1)) to the threshold. Inverse method was applied to evaluate the joint manage measures, and the results revealed that it was a valuable measure to avoid eutrophication by controlling lowest dissolved oxygen concentration and adjusting the inflow and outflow of reservoir.

Alterations in pH have significant effects on nitrification and denitrification processes in aquatic systems. The Jiyun River in northern China experiences significant acid precipitation, and as such was selected to investigate the effects of decreasing pH (river pH at 8.2, pH at 6 and 5) on N dynamics via incubation experiments (35 and 10°C). Statistical results indicated that the NO3 (-) concentrations of the control (pH at 8.2) were either significantly lower (at 35°C) or significantly higher (at 10°C) than the treatments of pH at 6 and 5 at the alpha level of 0.05 in the incubation. However, the NO3 (-) concentrations of the two pH treatments showed significant difference during part of the reaction stage at 35°C and no difference at 10°C. Analysis indicated that nitrification and coupled nitrification-aerobic denitrification occurred for all treatments, which resulted in NO3 (-) being either accumulated or removed at the end of the incubation.

The contents and stable S isotope ratio (δS) values of total S, organic S, SO-S, and total reduced inorganic S (TRS) in typical limestone soil and yellow soil were analyzed in this study to examine the general distributions of S forms and their δS values in soils in karst areas of southwest China. Under a similar level of acid deposition, the vertical profiles of the S forms and their δS values differed in limesto\ne soil and yellow soil, indicating the different geochemical responses of these soils to acid deposition. The deposited SO was retained as organic S in both soils. The depletion in S of TRS relative to SO and the parallel increasing δS values of TRS and SO indicate a bacterial reduction process of sulfate in both soils. The different extents of C-bonded S mineralization and organic sulfate transport explain the different vertical profiles of total S and organic S contents in both soils. Sulfate adsorption in limestone soil was negligible because of high pH values. Sulfate adsorption in yellow soil was another important S retention process in addition to biological S retention to form organic S and TRS because of low pH values. The effect of acid deposition on yellow soil appeared more serious because of the accumulation and leaching of deposited SO, which can result in soil acidification and accelerate the loss of basic cations from yellow soil. However, compared with yellow soil, limestone soil released more S into rivers by organic S mineralization after a large decrease in annual S deposition rate.

Climate data with high spatial and temporal resolution were of great significance for regional environmental management, such as for early response to possible predicted local climate changes and extreme weather. However, the current downscaling targets for CMIP6 climate simulations were mostly medium-resolution (MR) reanalysis data, which were still coarse for local analysis. A two-step downscaling method was proposed for 100 × resolution enhancements of general circulation model (GCM) daily temperature data in this study. First, the historical GCM outputs were 10 × downscaled to a set of dynamically predictable MR data using a deep convolutional neural network (CNN), which included both encode-decode structure and long-short skip connections. Then, using high-resolution (HR) topographic data and MR climate data as auxiliary data, the GCM data were super-resolved to a series of images with spatial resolution of 1 km. A one-step downscaling analysis combined only with HR topographic data was performed as comparison. Seven evaluation metrics were selected to evaluate the prediction accuracy, and the results showed that the overall performance of two-step downscaling method was better than one-step downscaling method. Higher Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency (NSE) and lower mean absolute relative error (MARE) indicated that the two-step method performed better prediction of peak and low values. It was further confirmed by accuracy evaluation on the 10% max and 10% min values of the testing dataset. The introduction of dynamically predictable MR data could provide effective detailed information during the downscaling process and improve the prediction accuracies. Finally, the projected data of four scenarios (SSP1-2.6, SSP2-4.5, SSP3-7.0, and SSP5-8.5) during 2015-2050 were downscaled to the study area. The complex temporal and spatial variations indicated that there were great differences in temperature changes in a basin, and differentiated management measures should be proposed in advance.

Mycelia products enhance edible mushrooms in alignment with future sustainability trends. To meet forthcoming market demands, the morphology of mycelial pellets was optimized for direct consumption. Among ten commercial edible mushrooms in Taiwan, Pleurotus sp. was selected for its rapid growth and was identified via an internal transcribed spacer sequence. A combination of Plackett-Burman design and Taguchi's L9(34) orthogonal table revealed the optimal formula as potato dextrose broth (2.4%), olive oil (2%), calcium carbonate (0.5%), yeast extract (0.75%), and soy flour (0.5%). This led to a biomass increase to 19.9 ± 1.1 g/L, resulting in a 2.17-fold yield increase. To refine morphology, image processing by ImageJ quantified spherical characteristics. The addition of 0.2 to 1.0% Tween 80 enhanced pellet compaction by over 50%. Dilution of the medium improved uniformity (0.85) and conversion rate (42%), yielding mycelial pellets with 2.10 ± 0.52 mm diameters and a yield of 15.1 ± 0.6 g/L. These findings provide an alternative evaluation and application of edible mycelial pellets as future food.

An effective complex of nanoscale zero-valent iron (NZVI) supported on zirconium 1,4-dicarboxybenzene metals-organic frameworks (UIO-66) with strong oxidation resistance was synthesized (NZVI@UIO-66) for V5+ removal from wastewater. The results demonstrated that NZVI was successfully loaded on UIO-66 with a uniform dispersion, and then the composite was aged in the air which was named A-NZVI@UIO-66. V5+ could be removed quickly and completely using A-NZVI@UIO-66 in a wider pH range except for the pH = 1 condition. The reaction between A-NZVI@UIO-66 and V5+ was an endothermic process. Freundlich model with a better-fitted value showed the adsorption of V5+ on A-NZVI@UIO-66 was multi-layer heterogeneous adsorption and the adsorbed amount of V5+ was 397.23 mg V/g NZVI. Nitrate had a competitive inhibition on V5+ removal by A-NZVI@UIO-66. Mechanisms of vanadium elimination from the aqueous phase by A-NZVI@UIO-66 included physical adsorption, reduction, and complex co-precipitation, particularly the reduction dominated. The subsistent Zr-O bond in A-NZVI@UIO-66 provided a possible double reaction path by playing an electron donor, storage, or conductor role. After acid leaching, A-NZVI@UIO-66 represented good reusability in the removal of V5+ from the practical mine sewage.

The fish immune system is a topic or subject that offers a unique understanding of defensive system evolution in vertebrate heredity. While gut microbiota plays several roles in fish: well-being, promoting health and growth, resistance to bacterial invasion, regulation of energy absorption, and lipid metabolism. However, studies on fish gut microbiota face practical challenges due to the large number of fish varieties, fluctuating environmental conditions, and differences in feeding habits. This study was carried out to evaluate the impacts of supplemented three autochthonous strains, Bacillus sp. RCS1, Pantoea agglomerans RCS2, and Bacillus cereus RCS3 mixture diet on cobia fish (Rachycentron canadum). Also, chromatography, mass spectrometry and high throughput sequencing were combined to explore composition and metabolite profile of gut microbiota in juvenile cobia fed with supplemented diet. In the trial group, juvenile cobia received diets supplemented with 1 × 1012 CFU mL-1 autochthonous strains for ten weeks and a control diet without supplementation. Juvenile cobia receiving diets supplementation exhibited significantly improved growth than those without additives (control). Haematological indices, such as red blood cells, white blood cells, corpuscular haemoglobin concentration, mean corpuscular volume, haemoglobin, and mean corpuscular haemoglobin, were higher in the supplemented group. Similarly, digestive enzymes (trypsin, lipase, amylase, pepsin and cellulose, activities) activities were higher in supplemented diet with an indigenous isolates mixture. Serum biochemical parameters albumin, globulin, and total protein were significantly higher, while triglyceride, alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase, alkaline phosphatase, and cholesterol showed no significant difference. On the other hand, glucose was significantly (P < 0.05) higher in the group without supplementation. On gene expression in the midgut, Immunoglobulin, Colony-stimulating factor receptor 1, major histocompatibility complex 1 were up-regulated by native isolates while T cell receptor beta, and Major histocompatibility complex 2 showed no significant difference. Gut bacterial composition was altered in fish receiving supplemented diet with autochthonous strains. Metabolomics also revealed that some metabolic pathways were considerably enriched in fish fed with supplemented diet; pathway analysis based on Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) enrichment revealed that differentially expressed metabolites were involved in galactose metabolism, tryptophan metabolism, carbohydrate digestion and absorption, purine metabolism, and ABC transporters. Functional analysis of bacterial community showed that differences in enriched metabolic pathways generally comprised carbohydrate and its metabolites, nucleotide and its metabolites, amino acid and its metabolites, heterocyclic compounds, and tryptamines, cholines, pigments. The current investigation results showed that autochthonous strains mixture has significantly enhanced the growth, survival, and innate and adaptive immunities of juvenile cobia.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the prevention of Danhong Injection (DHI) on contrast-induced renal impairment after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). METHODS: Eighty patients receiving PCI were randomly assigned to the control group and the treatment group, 40 in each. All patients used loperamide injection as the contrast media, and received routine medicines such as enteric coated aspirin and Betaloc, as well as routine rehydration therapy. As for patients in the treatment group, 20 mL DHI was intravenously dripped by adding in 250 mL 0.9% sodium chloride injection from 2 -3 days before PCI to 3 days after PCI, once daily. The levels of serum creatinine (SCr), cystatin C (CysC), urine micro-albumin (mAlb), and beta2-microglobulin (beta2-MG) were measured before PCI, and 24, 48, 72 h after PCI. The occurrence of radio contrast-induced nephropathy (RCIN) of the two groups was observed. RESULTS: The serum SCr and CysC levels of the two groups reached the peak 24 h after PCI (P < 0.05, P < 0.01). But they respectively restored to the pre-PCI levels at 48 and 72 h after PCI in the treatment group. In the control group the serum SCr level basically restored to the pre-PCI level at 72 h after PCI. The urinary mAlb and beta2-MG levels of the two groups reached the peak at 24 and 48 h after PCI (P < 0.05, P < 0.01), and basically restored to the pre-PCI level at 72 h after PCI. But they did not restore in the control group (P < 0.05). Seven patients suffered from RCIN in the two groups, of them 5 (12.5%) in the control group and 2 (5.0%) in the treatment group, with no statistical difference (P > 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: DHI could effectively prevent contrast-induced renal impairment and shorten the recovery time of renal impairment. It was worth further studies.

Although El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) has been widely confirmed to have significant impacts on climate change in Asia, it is unknown whether the climate change in the Yangtze River Basin (YTR basin) is related to the operation of the Three Gorges Reservoir, which is the world's largest hydropower station. In this study, we used the Standardized Precipitation Evapotranspiration Index (SPEI) as an indicator of climate change and found that the mutation period of the YTR basin was 2003-2006 based on three mutation tests. By analyzing the trends of the SPEI and five related meteorological factors before and after 2003, it was found that the construction of the Three Gorges Reservoir increased the relative humidity and provided a more humid climate for the downstream basin. The relationships between drought events and ENSO and the water level of the reservoir indicated that the basin was more prone to drought in El Niño years and the Three Gorges Reservoir could alleviate agricultural drought in the downstream basin. The spatial impacts of the Three Gorges Reservoir on regional climate change were more pronounced, while the impact of ENSO could not be reflected at the station scale.
