RESUMEN

The use of IoT systems that support the construction of smart cities is a global trend that directly affects the quality of life of citizens. for vehicular and pedestrian traffic, the detection of living beings and especially of humans, is a way of quantifying different variables pertinent to the improvement of roads, traffic flows, frequency of visits, among others. the implementation of low-cost systems that do not involve high-processing systems makes the solutions more scalable at a global level. The data acquired by this type of device offers advantages to the different entities in statistics and public consultations, thus contributing to their growth. In this article, an assistance system for the task of pedestrian flow detection is designed and constructed. It integrates strategically located arrays of sensors to detect the direction and general location, which include microwave sensors to detect motion, and infrared presence sensors. The results demonstrate that the system manages to establish the direction of flow of the individual and laterally of the displacement and differentiation between humans and objects for assistance to other systems of counting or analysis of pedestrian flow.

Simple exponential decaying functions are commonly used for fitting the kinetics of starch digested by amylolytic enzymes. A common assumption is that a sole exponential function can account for the kinetics of the whole digestible starch. Recent studies using logarithm-of-slope (LOS) plots showed that digestion kinetics can exhibit multi-scale behavior, an effect reflecting starch fractions with different digestion characteristics. This work proposed an extension of the widely used Goñi et al.'s model to account for two starch fractions; one fraction linked with fast digestion rate and other with slow digestion rates. The fitting of experimental data was carried out by solving numerically a nonlinear least-squares problem. The estimated parameters have a straightforward interpretation in terms of reaction rates and digestible/resistant starch fractions. Two experimental examples were used for illustrating the performance of the multi-exponential function.

Taro starch spherical aggregates have been considered as wall material for the microencapsulation of bioactive compounds. The distribution of particle size, morphology, stability, glass transition temperature, ζ-potential, physical properties and flowability and compression indexes, and functional properties (water, oil and dye retention capacity) were measured. The average diameter was 17.5 ±â€¯0.3 µm. Aggregates formed by a relatively high number of starch granules were observed. The residual protein in the aggregates was in the periphery of the starch granules, favoring the aggregation and the stability under aqueous stirring conditions. The ζ-potential was -21.8 ±â€¯0.3 mV. The value of the glass transition temperature was in the range from 176.8 to 75.4 °C, with 5% and excess water, respectively. The Hausner ratio and Carr index were 1.06 and 14.7, respectively. The oil holding capacity was 1.2 ±â€¯0.01 g of oil·g-1 of dry solid. Overall, the functional, physical and thermal properties of the spherical aggregates of taro starch granules showed that this material offers good potential for the microencapsulation of bioactive compounds.

Banana starch is resistant to hydrolysis by digestive enzymes due to its structure and dietary fibre content. Starch was isolated from the following three cultivars of Colombian Musaceae: Gros Michel (dessert), Dominico Harton and FHIA 20 (cooking); also, the amylose and amylopectin contents, morphology of the granules, thermal properties, pasting, molecular characteristics and digestibility were determined. The total starch content, amylose content and digestibility (gelatinized starch) were higher in cooking varieties; the purity and gelatinization temperature were similar for the three varieties, but the enthalpy was higher in the dessert variety. The three varieties showed higher viscosities in the pasting profile compared to commercial maize starch in both acid and neutral conditions. Starch granules presented with heterogeneous sizes and shapes (elongated and ovals) that had birefringence. The Dominico Hartón variety showed the lowest rapidly digestible starch (RDS) value in the gelatinized sample that is in agreement with the greater proportion of long chains.

Obesity may contribute to cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk by eliciting chronic systemic inflammation and impairing the immune response to additional stressors. There has been little assessment of the effect of obesity on psychological stress, an independent risk factor for CVD. Therefore, it was of interest to examine interleukin-6, tumor necrosis factor-α, interleukin-1ß (IL-1ß), interleukin-1 receptor antagonist (IL-1Ra), and leptin following an acute mental stress task in nonobese and obese males. Twenty college-aged males (21.3 ± 0.56 years) volunteered to participate in a 20-min Stroop color-word and mirror-tracing task. Subjects were recruited for obese (body mass index: BMI > 30) and nonobese (BMI < 25) groups, and blood samples were collected for enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay analysis. The acute mental stress task elicited an increase in heart rate, catecholamines, and IL-1ß in all subjects. Additionally, acute mental stress increased cortisol concentrations in the nonobese group. There was a significant reduction in leptin in obese subjects 30 min posttask compared with a decrease in nonobese subjects 120 min posttask. Interestingly, the relationship between the percent change in leptin and IL-1Ra at 120 min posttask in response to an acute mental stress task was only observed in nonobese individuals. This is the first study to suggest that adiposity in males may impact leptin and inflammatory signaling mechanisms following acute mental stress.

Dissemination of knowledge in genetics to be applied in medicine has created a growing need for capacity building in health care workers. The CAPABILITY ARGENTINA outreach project protocol was designed as a model to introduce genetics in areas without genetic services. Our aim was for genetic health care to become part of primary care in an Argentine province lacking genetic services. The program was innovative as professionals from the referral center (Garrahan Hospital S.A.M.I.C.) traveled to remote areas to train professionals through problem-based education. A logical framework was designed for a local needs assessment. Teaching materials (Powerpoint presentations, printed syllabus, and CD) and a web page were developed. A demonstration project was carried out in the Province of Chaco, Argentina. A total of 485 health workers were trained. The number of consultations increased significantly in participating areas comparing before and after the training period. To support this increase, a complementary project was set up from a public hospital sponsored from within Argentina to build a cytogenetic laboratory in the capital of the Province of Chaco. The model was improved for reproduction in other areas in Argentina. CAPABILITY ARGENTINA is a capacity building model for training of primary care professionals in genetics that may be applied to other medical specialties. The outcomes of the programme have a direct impact on clinical practice.

Chronic exercise is thought to improve endothelium-dependent vasodilation; however, few studies have evaluated the effects of acute exercise on microvascular vasodilatory capacity (MVC). Moreover, no studies have compared MVC responses in obese and non-obese individuals following acute exercise. To evaluate MVC, utilizing forearm blood flow (FBF) and excess blood flow (EBF) before and up to 48 h after a single exercise bout to elicit peak oxygen consumption (VO2 peak) in obese and non-obese males. Twelve obese (37.0 ± 1.1 kg/m(2)) and 12 non-obese (21.9 ± 0.3 kg/m(2)) males volunteered to participate. FBF measures, before and during reactive hyperemia (RH), were obtained prior to (PRE-E), immediately after (POST-E), and at 1 (POST-1), 2 (POST-2), 24 (POST-24), and 48 (POST-48) hours after exercise. EBF, was calculated as the difference between FBF, before and during RH. Blood samples were obtained to evaluate the response of interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α), which are potential modifiers of MVC. FBF before and during RH were significantly (P < 0.05) increased in both groups POST-E. The EBF magnitude of change from PRE-E was significantly (P < 0.05) elevated in non-obese when compared with obese males. Although not related to MVC, concentrations of IL-6 significantly decreased between POST-2 and POST-24 in both groups. An acute bout of exercise designed to elicit VO2 peak significantly increased forearm MVC in non-obese and obese males, although the magnitude of change in EBF from PRE-E to POST-E was greater in non-obese males.

Background: Spigelian hernia (SH) can be defined as the protrusion of preperitoneal fat or a peritoneal sac containing or not containing an intra-abdominal organ, across a congenital or acquired defect in the Spigelian line. These hernias are also known as "spontaneous lateral ventral hernias", "hernia of the semilunar line," or "hernias through the conjoint tendon". Aim: To report the clinical features of this type of hernia. Material and Methods: Review of medical records of 23 patients aged 36 to 83 years (16 females) with Spigelian hernia treated in a lapse of 10 years. Results: Fifty two percent of the patients were obese. The hernia was unilateral in all patients and in 70 percent of cases, it was located in the left side. All patients referred pain. A palpable mass was found in 83 percent. An ultrasound was required to confirm the diagnosis in 22 percent of patients. All were subjected to elective surgery, with local anesthesia. No relapse has been detected. Conclusions: Spigelian hernia is uncommon and usually presents with pain. Its surgical correction can be carried out with local anesthesia.


La hernia de Spiegel es infrecuente. Existen en Latinoamérica pocas publicaciones sobre este tema. El objetivo de esta presentación es dar cuenta, mediante 23 casos, de algunos aspectos de su presentación. El siguiente es un estudio observacional descriptivo, que analiza una serie de pacientes intervenidos con el diagnóstico de hernia de Spiegel en nuestro centro en un período de 10 años. Los instrumentos de análisis fueron la ficha clínica, la información existente en la base de datos EpiInfo del servicio y una entrevista personal. La hernia de Spiegel constituyó el 0,9 por ciento de 2.568 operaciones de pared realizadas en nuestro servicio, fue más frecuente en mujeres y en el lado izquierdo (69,5 por ciento), la edad promedio fue de 59,5 (36-83) años. Fue unilateral en todos los casos. La obesidad estuvo presente en el 52 por ciento de los pacientes. El dolor estuvo presente en todos los pacientes y una masa palpable fue encontrada en 19 (82,6 por ciento). Se necesitó ecotomografia en 5 (21,7 por ciento) para corroborar el diagnóstico. La totalidad de la serie fue operada de manera electiva y con anestesia local. No se han detectado complicaciones ni recidivas a la fecha. Concluimos que la hernia de Spiegel es rara y su forma de presentación más frecuente es con dolor. Factores de riesgo como la obesidad deben ser tenidos en cuenta. La ecotomografia ayuda al diagnóstico, pero no es necesario utilizarla de rutina. La cirugía ambulatoria con anestesia local permitió el tratamiento en todos los casos.

We have previously developed and validated a self-administered questionnaire, modelled after the Systemic Lupus International Collaborating Clinics Damage Index (SDI), the Lupus Damage Index Questionnaire (LDIQ), which may allow the ascertainment of this construct in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) patients followed in the community and thus expand observations made about damage. We have now translated, back-translated and adapted the LDIQ to Spanish, Portuguese and French and applied it to patients followed at academic and non-academic centres in North and South America, Portugal and Spain while their physicians scored the SDI. A total of 887 patients (659 Spanish-speaking, 140 Portuguese-speaking and 80 French-speaking patients) and 40 physicians participated. Overall, patients scored all LDIQ versions higher than their physicians (total score and all domains). Infrequent manifestations had less optimal clinimetric properties but overall agreement was more than 95% for the majority of items. Higher correlations were observed among the Spanish-speaking patients than the Portuguese-speaking and French-speaking patients; further adjustments may be needed before the Portuguese and French versions of the LDIQ are applied in community-based studies. The relationship between the LDIQ and other outcome parameters is currently being investigated in a different patient sample.

The clinical syndromes of anxiety and depression are now thought to exist along a temporal continuum and this construct has been modelled in a preclinical setting in chicks separated from conspecifics. This research sought to further the validity of the chick anxiety-depression continuum model. Dose-response studies using two classes of anxiolytics (chlordiazepoxide: 2.5, 5.0, 10.0, 15.0 mg/kg, and clonidine: 0.1, 0.15, 0.2, 0.25 mg/kg) and three classes of antidepressants (imipramine: 1.0, 3.0, 10.0, 15.0 mg/kg, maprotoline: 2.5, 5.0, 10.0, 20.0 mg/kg and fluoxetine: 1.0, 5.0, 10.0, 20.0 mg/kg) showed an ability to detect anxiolytic activity of chlordiazepoxide, clonidine, imipramine and maprotoline in the anxiety-like phase of the model and to detect antidepressant effects of imipramine, maprotoline and fluoxetine in the depression-like phase of the model. In addition, blood plasma interleukin-6, a biomarker of stress, was found to be elevated in response to social-separation stress. Collectively, these findings further characterize the model as a simulation of the anxiety-depression continuum and begin to establish the paradigm as a high-utility adjuvant to rodent screening assays for putative anxiolytic and antidepressant compounds.

Banana flour (BF) was obtained from unripe banana (Musa paradisiacal L.) and characterized in its chemical composition. Experimental bread was formulated with BF flour and the product was studied regarding chemical composition, available starch (AS), resistant starch (RS) and rate of starch digestion in vitro. The chemical composition of BF showed that total starch (73.36%) and dietary fiber (14.52%) were the highest constituents. Of the total starch, available starch was 56.29% and resistant starch 17.50%. BF bread had higher protein and total starch content than control bread, but the first had higher lipid amount. Appreciable differences were found in available, resistant starch and indigestible fraction between the bread studied, since BF bread showed higher resistant starch and indigestible fraction content. HI-based predicted glycemic index for the BF bread was 65.08%, which was significantly lower than control bread (81.88%), suggesting a "slow carbohydrate" feature for the BF-based goods. Results revealed BF as a potential ingredient for bakery products containing slowly digestible carbohydrates.

Non-conventional nixtamalized maize flours elaborated by a factory in Mexico were used for tortilla preparation. Tortillas were stored at 4 degrees C for up to 72 h and the total starch, available starch, resistant starch and retrograded resistant starch were assessed. The traditional white tortilla, used as a control, showed higher protein and fat contents than blue maize tortilla, whereas a maize-bean mixed tortilla had the highest protein, ash and fat contents. Lower total starch was obtained in the maize-bean tortilla than in white and blue maize tortillas. The available starch content in all tortillas decreased with the cold-storage, although the change was more marked for blue-maize tortillas. The maize-bean mixed tortillas exhibited the lowest in vitro digestibility, which is consistent with the relatively high resistant starch levels in the bean. Differences in resistant starch content were found between the two maize tortillas, which might be related to the softer texture of blue-maize tortilla. The starch digestibility features of these new types of nixtamalized maize flours open up the possibility of producing tortillas with variable nutritional properties.

The influence of psychological states on physiological responses during exercise is of considerable importance to individuals for which the efficiency of energy production is critical to occupational performance. Numerous studies have shown that aerobic fitness is associated with enhanced cardiovascular efficiency at rest and that responses to mental stress demonstrate evidence of increased sensitivity (relative increase in HR response) and enhanced efficiency (a decrease in absolute HR). However, the effect of aerobic fitness and its impact on cardiorespiratory (CR) responses to psychological stress during exercise has not been investigated. Therefore, the purpose of this study was three-fold; (1) to examine during exercise, anxiety, effort sense, and CR responses to a mental challenge, (2) to examine anxiety and heart rate (HR) responses from rest to exercise with mental challenge between below average fitness (Low Fit) and well-above average fitness (Hi Fit) individuals (exercising at similar relative intensities), and (3) to examine anxiety, effort sense, and CR responses of Low Fit and Hi Fit individuals to a mental challenge during exercise at a similar relative intensity. Twelve Low Fit and eleven Hi Fit subjects participated in two, 32-minute cycle ergometer rides at 65 % of VO2max. In the mental challenge condition (MCC), subjects rode while participating in mentally challenging tasks (Stroop Color-Word task and mental arithmetic) from min 6 to min 14 of the protocol. In the no mental challenge condition (NMCC), subjects exercised at the same intensity and duration without a stressor. Subjects were counter-balanced between fitness levels and condition. HR, VE, VE/VO2, RR, VO2, RER, effort sense (RPE), and state anxiety (SAI) were assessed at 5, 14, 24, and 30 min. SAI was also assessed at - 5 min before exercise and after 15 min of recovery. In addition, the NASA task load index (NTLX) was used to assess perceived overall workload. SAI increased significantly at 14 min in the MCC. NTLX scores indicated that the MCC was perceived as a greater overall workload. Furthermore, HR, VE, VE/VO2, and RR were significantly elevated during the mental challenge condition at 14 min. The Hi Fit subjects tended to respond to the dual stress of exercise and mental challenge with a relative increase in HR, while absolute HR was similar in both groups. An examination of fitness group differences revealed that SAI and NTLX were similar for Low Fit and Hi Fit subjects when exercising in the MCC, although, Hi Fit subjects demonstrated lower HR responses from 6 min to 14 min. VE, VE/VO2, and RR were similar for Low Fit and Hi Fit subjects. These results suggest that psychological stress during physical activity can exacerbate cardiorespiratory responses and suggests that factors that impact CR adjustment to mental challenge from resting baseline may differ from the factors that impact CR adjustment to mental challenge during exercise. Finally, fitness level attenuates HR and may attenuate additional cardiorespiratory responses while participating in a dual stress condition, of exercise and mental challenge.

Starch was isolated from banana starch and the retrogradation phenomenon was studied using diverse techniques, including an enzymatic measurement. Wide-angle X-ray scattering (WAXS) showed that the sample stored for 7 h presented small peaks and when the storage time increased the peaks increased in intensity. The type of diffraction pattern found in banana extrudates is typical of the A-type crystal polymorph. The crystallinity index from the diffractograms, showed a plateau after approximately 20 h of storage. The short-range order measurement with Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy showed that banana starch retrogradation reached a maximum value at approximately 11 h of storage, a value that agrees with the results obtained with differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), because the maximum enthalpy value (approximately 5 J/g) was calculated in the stored sample for 8 h, without changes in the stored samples for more time. Retrograded resistant starch values did not change after 12 h of storage, obtaining the maximum starch retrogradation level. FTIR, DSC, and the enzymatic technique showed the changes at the molecular level in starch during storage; in the case of WAXS, they determine the long-range order that explains the differences found in the starch retrogradation pattern measurement in banana starch.

Objetivo:Determinar la prevalencia y características epidemiológicas dela desnutrición tipo kwashiorkor y marasmo kwashiorkor de los niños <5 años al ingreso en un servicio de referencia pediátrica paraguayo, en el periodo marzo-junio 2003 y compararla con el año 1997. Método: Diseño observacional, retrospectivo y prospectivo, se analizaron la ficha clinica de los niños <5 años con desnutrición edematosa al ingreso a la Cátedra de Pediatría Hospital de Clínicas. Resultados: Ingresaron al Servicio de Pediatría durante el año 1997, 506 niños <5 años, 23,5pto con desnutrición; de éstos 39 presentaron desnutrición edematosa (kwashiorkor; 7,7pto. Entre marzo y junio 2003, ingresaron 305 <5 años: 120 con marasmo, 48 con desnutrición moderada y 46 desnutrición edematosa: 22 kwashiorkor y 24 marasmo-kwashiorkor(46/214) niños desnutridos: 21,4 pto y 46/95 9,2pto de la población total de niños internados).Existe 5 veces mas probabilidad de que los niños ingresados en 2003 presenten denutrición (OR:5,01; 3,64-6,91), tambien se observa un aumento significativo de la probabilidad de desnutrición de tipo edematosa (OR:2,13:1,32-3,43) en relación al año 1997. De los 46ptes con desnutrición edematosa:20 eran varones; edadx14m(2-42m); procedencia:19 rural y 27 urbana; lactancia materna exclusiva:2,5m (total6,7 m,rango0-18);edad de inicio alimentos complementarios:5m (rango2-10m) Peso nac.x:3080 g(1500-4300).Bajo peso al nacer:8/46.Ingreso económico de padres todos por debajo de la línea de la pobreza.Patología concomitantes:gastrointestinales:22/46, neumonia:13/46, Laboratorio:albuminemia:2,2 g/dl(1,0-3,2g/dl).Dias de internación:17 d(2-41); fallecidos:5/46.Conclusiones: Hay un aparente aumento en años recientes de la desnutrición severa edematosa en niños <5 años al ingreso a un Servicio Pediátrico de referencia, asociada a condiciones familiares de extrema pobreza. Las causas de hospitalización, son infecciones intercurrentes graves.

It has been suggested that ghrelin may play a role in growth hormone (GH) responses to exercise. The present study was designed to determine whether ghrelin, GH, insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I), and IGF-binding protein-3 (IGFBP-3) were altered by a progressively intense running protocol. Six well-trained male volunteers completed a progressively intense intermittent exercise trial on a treadmill that included four exercise intensities: 60%, 75%, 90%, and 100% of Vo2max. Blood samples were collected before exercise, after each exercise intensity, and at 15 and 30 mins following the exercise protocol. Subjects also completed a separate control trial at the same time of day that excluded exercise. GH changed significantly over time, and GH area under the curve (AUC) was significantly higher in the exercise trial than the control trial. Area under the curve IGF-I levels for the exercise trial were significantly higher than the control trial. There was no difference in the ghrelin and IGFBP-3 responses to the exercise and control trials. Pearson correlation coefficients revealed significant relationships between ghrelin and both IGF-I and IGFBP-3; however, no relationship between ghrelin and GH was found. In conclusion, intense running produces increases in total IGF-I concentrations, which differs from findings in previous studies using less rigorous running protocols and less frequent blood sampling regimens. Moreover, running exercise that produces substantial increases in GH does not affect peripheral ghrelin levels; however, significant relationships between ghrelin and both IGF-I and IGFBP-3 exist during intense intermittent running and recovery, which warrants further investigation.

AIM: Running at incremental velocities proximal to the onset of blood lactate accumulation (OBLA) elicits linear increases in VO(2), and HR, while the increases in V(E) and blood lactic acid concentrations (BLa) are curvilinear. In addition, effort sense is often measured in the field with the traditional 15-point scale Ratings of Perceived Exertion scale, increases linearly whereas the perceptual response of affect seem to decrease in a nonlinear manner. This study examined the changes in effort sense (RPE) and affect, utilizing the Feeling Scale (FS), at 3 running intensities proximal to the onset of blood lactate accumulation. In addition, the relationship between these perceptual responses and V(E), VO(2), HR, RER, and BLa were examined. METHODS: Eleven highly-trained distance runners (VO(2max) = 67.65+/-1.24) participated in 2 sessions of data collection. During Session 1 subjects performed a discontinuous progressive treadmill protocol to determine peak aerobic power. After each stage a finger tip blood sample was taken to determine BLa. A regression line between the 2 successive workloads that produced BLa above and below 4 mM was calculated to predict the VO(2) that would generate 4mM BLa (VO(2) @ 4 mM). Within 1 week each subject returned for Session 2, which included a 10-min warm-up run followed by 3 submaximal runs lasting 5 min each: the VO(2) at 10% below OBLA (VO(2) 10% ), the VO(2) at OBLA (VO(2) @ 4 mM), and the VO(2) at 10% above OBLA (VO(2) 10%). During the last minute of each run VO(2), V(E), HR, RER, RPE, and FS were assessed. In addition, Bla was assessed immediately following each run. RESULTS: Results demonstrated that VO(2) 10%, VO(2) @ 4 mM, and VO(2) 10% - elicited BLa of 2.66+/-0.33, 3.75+/-0.40, and 6.10+/-0.68 mM, respectively. In addition, RPE increased significantly from VO(2) 10% to VO(2) @ 4 mM and from VO(2) @ 4 mM to VO(2) 10% -; whereas FS demonstrated a slight decrease from VO(2) 10% to VO(2) @ 4 mM, and a more substantial and significant decrease from VO(2) @ 4 mM to VO(2) 10% -. Correlational analyses revealed significant relationships at VO(2) 10% -. Specifically, RPE and FS were negatively related (r=0.62), while RPE and VO(2) were positively related (r=0.53). Correlations across all workloads revealed a tendency for more powerful relationships to exist among RPE and physiological cues than FS and physiological cues. CONCLUSION: This is the first study to directly examine changes in RPE and FS in relation to the physiological threshold for anaerobic metabolism, Bla, which responds to linear increases in exercise intensity in a curvilinear manner. Results support previous investigations suggesting a that the drop in FS has some distinction from the increase in RPE and that FS may be more sensitive to the onset of anaerobic metabolism. Moreover, the relationship of RPE to FS at VO(2) 10% -, but not VO(2) 10% and VO(2) @ 4 mM, supports the hypothesis that the unique variability of FS is diminished at higher intensities of exercise when physiological cues are unambiguous.

AIM: The purpose of this study was to examine changes in selected kinematic variables at 3 running intensities proximal to the onset of blood lactate accumulation (OBLA; 4 mM of blood lactate). It was hypothesized that greater changes in lower body mechanics would occur when running faster than normal race pace compared to when running slower than race pace. METHODS: Nine competitive male distance runners ran at 3 running intensities (RI): 1) each runner's VO(2) at 10% below the VO(2) at OBLA, 2) VO(2) at OBLA, and 3) VO(2) at 10% above the VO(2) at OBLA. Selected kinematic and physiological variables were measured at each RI. RESULTS: VO(2) at RI 1, 2 and 3 was highly correlated with running speed (r=0.93). The blood lactate (BL) showed a nonlinear increase from RI 1 (2.9+/-0.8 mM) to 2 (4.1+/-0.9 mM) to 3 (6.7+/-1.8 mM). The vertical oscillation of center of gravity (VOCOG), stride frequency (SF), range of motion (ROM) of trunk angle, and maximal knee flexion during flight phase (MKFF) changed nonlinearly as did the BL. Significant relationships between BL and VOCOG (r=0.44) and between BL and SF (r=0.51) were found (ps<0.05). CONCLUSION: The findings show a possibility that lower body running mechanics have a relationship with BL.
