RESUMEN

Gallium ion incorporation into silver indium gallium sulfide nanocrystals is investigated by various methods, including photoluminescence (PL) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The ZnS shell-growth enhances a PL quantum yield of up to 16%, with which the quantum dot light-emitting diode was successfully fabricated.

RESUMEN

Quantitative assessment of livability within a city facilitates the identification of urban problems and targeted improvements to the environment. Available studies are mostly limited to static analysis of a particular phase. It is difficult to reveal the dynamic development state of cities at the micro level. Taking Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-city as an example, we established an evaluation index system for the livability of the eco-city from five dimensions, including environmental health, transportation convenience, urban security, facility convenience, and economic prosperity. Multi-source data from 2016 to 2020, including the remote sensing images, points of interest, and planning data, combined with the entropy method and the TOPSIS method were used to dynamically monitor the livability of the eco-city in a long-term series. The results showed that during the study period, the livability levels of different areas in the eco-city had strong spatial and temporal variations. Spatially, with the southern part of the Sino-Singapore Eco-city Cooperation Zone as the core, the overall livability was characterized by a high center and a low edge. The convenience of facilities, traffic convenience, and economic prosperity were characterized by a high center and a low edge. Urban security and environmental health showed the characteristics of low center and high edge. From 2016 to 2020, the livability improvement rate of the eco-city had gradually accelerated, with the the most obvious improvement in the southern part of the China-Singapore Cooperation Zone.

RESUMEN

Using mesoporous SiO2 to encapsulate CsPbBr3 nanocrystals is one of the best strategies to exploit such materials in devices. However, the CsPbBr3/SiO2 composites produced so far do not exhibit strong photoluminescence emission and, simultaneously, high stability against heat and water. We demonstrate a molten-salts-based approach delivering CsPbBr3/mesoporous-SiO2 composites with high PLQY (89 ± 10%) and high stability against heat, water, and aqua regia. The molten salts enable the formation of perovskite nanocrystals and other inorganic salts (KNO3-NaNO3-KBr) inside silica and the sealing of SiO2 pores at temperatures as low as 350 °C, representing an important technological advancement (analogous sealing was observed only above 700 °C in previous reports). Our CsPbBr3/mesoporous-SiO2 composites are attractive for different applications: as a proof-of-concept, we prepared a white-light emitting diode exhibiting a correlated color temperature of 7692K. Our composites are also stable after immersion in saline water at high temperatures (a typical underground environment of oil wells), therefore holding promise as oil tracers.

RESUMEN

We developed a facile synthesis of nanocomposite powders of CsPbX3 nanocrystals (NCs) embedded in silica. The synthesis starts from colloidal Cs4PbX6 NCs that are mixed with tetraethyl orthosilicate in the presence of nitric acid, which triggers the sol-gel reaction yielding the formation of SiOx and the conversion of starting NCs into CsPbX3 ones. The overall reaction delivers CsPbX3 NCs encased in a silica matrix. The resulting CsPbX3/SiOx nano-composite powders exhibited enhanced moisture and thermal stability in air. Also, when mixing different CsPbX3/SiOx samples having diverse anion compositions, no interparticle anion exchange processes were observed, which is a further indication that the silica matrix acts as a robust barrier surrounding the NCs. Finallly, we used these composites as down-converter phosphors on top of a blue light-emitting diode (LED), delivering nearly ideal white light emission with the Commission Internationale de l'Eclairage (CIE) color coordinates (0.32, 0.33).

RESUMEN

Background: Monitoring self-medication practice, which refers to individuals using medicine without instructions of physicians, is critical to control its harmful effects. However, in Vietnam, evidence about self-medication among individuals in highland areas is constrained. This study examined self-medication practice among residents living in highland areas in Vietnam and determined associated factors. Materials and methods: A cross-sectional study was performed in five highland provinces with 1000 individuals. Information about individual and household's socioeconomic status and self-medication practice in the last 12 months was surveyed. Multivariate logistic and Poisson regressions were used to identify associated factors with self-medication. Results: 83.3% reported self-medication in the last 12 months, with the mean times of self-medication being 4.5 times (SD=4.1). Female (OR=0.62, p<0.01), ethnic minorities, higher number of members having health insurance in family (OR=0.82, p<0.01) and higher annual household income (OR=0.78, p<0.05) were associated with the lower likelihood of "Only buy medicines at pharmacy stores when having illness in the last 12 month". Moreover, people who were females (OR=0.59, p<0.05), white-collar worker (OR=0.25, p<0.01) and had higher number of children in the family (OR=0.68, p<0.05) were less likely to practice self-medication. People who were ethnic minorities, white-collar worker (Coef.=-0.32, p<0.01) and higher number of members having health insurance in family had lower times of self-medication in the last 12 months compared to other groups. Meanwhile, individuals having higher number of members in the family (Coef.=0.07, p<0.01) and higher annual household income (Coef.=0.08, p<0.01) had highertimes of self-medication in the last 12 months. Conclusion: Residents in highland areas in Vietnam had a considerably high 12-month prevalence of self-medication. Medical products quality management and self-medication guideline are potential to maximize the effects of self-medication. Moreover, promoting the use of health insurance should also be concerned as a solution to address this issue.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Antibiotic resistance (AR) remains a global crisis. However, the literature on public awareness about antibiotic use and AR in the highland provinces of Vietnam has been constrained. This study explores the awareness of antibiotic use and resistance among general people in highland provinces in Vietnam and detects associated factors. METHODS: A cross-sectional study was performed in five highland provinces with 1000 households. Information about socioeconomic status and awareness regarding prescription medicine use, antibiotic use, and AR was surveyed. Multivariate logistic regression was used to identify associated factors with awareness. RESULTS: 64.2% of people were aware of prescription drugs. More than two-thirds (67.4%) of participants were aware of antibiotic use, of whom only 55.8% were aware of AR. Higher age, education, and family income were positively associated with being aware of prescription medicine, antibiotic, and AR. Females had a lower likelihood of being aware of prescription medicine (OR=0.64; 95%CI=0.45-0.90) compared to male counterparts. Those being freelancers were more likely to be aware of antibiotic resistance (OR=2.30; 95%CI=1.13-4.67) compared to those working in agriculture/fishery/forestry sector. Compared to Kinh ethnic, most ethnic minorities were less likely to be aware of prescription medicine, antibiotic, and AR. CONCLUSIONS: This study showed a low awareness regarding prescription medicine, antibiotic use, and AR among public people in the highland provinces of Vietnam. Further systemic and didactic educational interventions targeting females, low education, low income, ethnic minorities, and those working in agriculture/fishery/forestry sector in this setting should be performed and evaluated to improve the awareness about antibiotic use and resistance.
