RESUMEN

Causes of death of 65 patients with ileus and 43--with diffuse peritonitis for 1998-2000 period were analyzed. Considering the data obtained the improved programme of the via intubation probe treatment was used. Application of elaborated treatment charts have allowed to lower the mortality in ileus--down to 9.4%, in diffuse peritonitis--to 6.6%.

RESUMEN

Sorption properties were studied of natural and activated specimens of saponite with respect to poliomyelitis virus, Coxsackie B 1 and B 6 viruses as well as to Enterobacteriaceae group bacteria. With the purpose of comparing the processes of sorption of microorganisms, other minerals were also used, such as bentonite, alunite, glauconite, ceolite. The natural saponite adsorptive properties were found out to undergo changes during the process of thermoactivation. Mechanisms are discussed of a decontaminating effect of thermoactivated saponite in water.

RESUMEN

A new inorganic sorbent is proposed endowed with high adsorption-chemical activity towards microorganisms. Animal studies showed that the preparation "Evirhip" is superior to coal-based sorbents (KAY and CKN) and polymethilsiloxan (PMS) towards pathogenic microorganisms, PMS having relatively higher adhesive activity towards Salmonellas than coal-based sorbents.

RESUMEN

Sorption activity was studied of a naturally occurring dispersive mineral saponite towards certain representatives of the families of Picornaviridae and Reoviridae: poliomyelitis type II viruses, Coxsackie B 1 and B 6, monkey disease rotavirus. In increasing rank order in respect of specific sorption activity is naturally occurring bentonite--sodium form of bentonite--naturally occurring saponite. Possible mechanisms of sorption of viruses on the sorbent's surface, related to structural and chemical properties of the mineral are discussed.

RESUMEN

A new low-toxic antimicrobial preparation is proposed to impregnate woven materials used in treatment of pyo-inflammatory wounds contaminated with Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria as well as with pathogenic fungi as a result of an artificial infection. Sodic form of sudamate is less toxic, its bactericidal effect being 3-5 times more effective than that of hexachlorophene.

RESUMEN

Inorganic synthetic sorbent "Evirhip" is recommended for eliminating of contaminants from water with varying degree of pollution. Comparative evaluation was carried out of the activities of the synthetic sorbent, natural dispersive minerals and activated charcoals with their surfaces being variously modified, using a model of typical representatives of intestinal microorganisms (Shigella sonnei, poliomyelitis type II, Sabin strain, viruses). Under stationary conditions of interaction of 1% sorbent "Evirhip" with Shigella sonnei sterilizing effect begins to reveal itself within 60 minutes. Decrease in infectivity of poliovirus occurs by one logarithm of the original level during 30 minutes contact. The paper discusses changes of cationic composition of water as a result of treating it by the sorbent, and feasibility of practical application of the sorbent in processes removing etiological agents of the intestinal infections from drinking, natural and waste water.

RESUMEN

An outbreak is described of enteroviral infection caused by Coxsackie B5 virus, among the children at the health camp for children. Specific features of the clinical picture in the sick include an acute beginning, of the illness respiratory catarrh, exanthema in two patients, general intoxication, lymphadenopathy and renal lesion presenting as acute glomerulonephritis with hematuric syndrome.

RESUMEN

A new sorbent with a high sorptive capacity and antimicrobial properties against different species of microorganisms (aerobic and anaerobic) is suggested. Its effectiveness has been proved both in vitro and in vivo. The authors consider that the sorbent can be recommended for clinical trials with the aim of its use in preparation of the intestine for the operation.

RESUMEN

It was found that "Evirkhip" possesses a marked antiviral activity confirmed on a model of enteroviruses (coxsackie). The authors also studied the resistance to the drug in the chain: eukaryotic cell-viral particle-prokaryotic cell. The resistance decreased with the shift to right.

RESUMEN

Fibrocolonoscopy findings from 131 diarrhea patients proved the procedure valuable for early diagnosis of amebiasis and control of the treatment efficacy. Fibrocolonoscopy helps to establish the true picture and the scope of the colon mucosa involvement, identification of dysenteric ameba trophozoites in the mucosal bioptic specimens being the final diagnostic criterion. The procedure facilitates regulation of the treatment duration. In the study the recovery in the mild disease was documented 25-30 days after the treatment onset, in moderate-severity contamination it took 40-45 days to eliminate the infection.

RESUMEN

The preparation obtained when cultivating virus SA-11 in the transplantable cell culture SPEV has been purified and concentrated by means of bentonite. The virus adsorption at acidic values of pH (4.0-4.5) and elution at alkaline values of pH (8.5) were the main stages of production of the concentrated and purified rotavirus preparation. The paper embraces data on the infective activity of the virus protein content, amount of the rotavirus antigen, results of the electron and immunoelectron microscopy, characterizing the method efficiency.

RESUMEN

Immobilized D-galactose-specific lectin from Zea mais was used to purify rat brain membrane glycoproteins. The membrane glycoproteins preliminarily washed from soluble proteins were solubilized consecutively by 2% triton X-100 and 1% SDS. PAG-electrophoresis with SDS and 2-mercaptoethanol revealed 10 polypeptide bands (Mm 109, 62, 59, 54, 51, 42, 16, 14, 12.5 and 12 kDa) in the membrane fraction of glycoproteins solubilized with triton X-100. Additional solubilization with SDS revealed 3 bands (Mm 109, 62, and 54 kDa). Only 3 polypeptide bands (Mm 62, 59, 42 kDa) were identified when analogous procedure was used for purification of the rat liver glycoproteins. Horse radish peroxidase labelled D-galactose-specific lectin from Zea mais was found to bind to neuron bodies and neurites in the cerebellum. It is suggested that the identified brain-specific membrane glycoproteins may take part in the cell adhesion between neurons.
