RESUMEN

The United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are significant in guiding modern scientific research. In recent years, scholars have paid much attention to MOFs materials as green materials. However, piezo catalysis of MOFs materials has not been widely studied. Piezoelectric materials can convert mechanical energy into electrical energy, while MOFs are effective photocatalysts for removing pollutants. Therefore, it is crucial to design MOFs with piezoelectric properties and photosensitivity. In this study, sulfur-functionalized metal-organic frameworks (S-MOFs) were prepared using organic sulfur-functionalized ligand (H2TDC) ultrasonic synthesis to enhance their piezoelectric properties and visible light absorption. The study demonstrated that the S-MOFs significantly enhanced the reduction of a 10 mg/L solution of hexavalent chromium to 99.4 % within 10 min, using only 15 mg of catalyst. The orbital energy level differences of the elements were analyzed using piezo response force microscopy (PFM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The results showed that MOFs functionalized with sulfur atom ligands have a built-in electric field that facilitates charge separation and migration. This study presents a new approach to enhance the piezoelectric properties of MOFs, which broadens their potential applications in piezo catalysis and piezo-photocatalysis. Additionally, it provides a sustainable method for reducing hexavalent chromium, contributing to the achievement of sustainable development goals, specifically SDG-6, SDG-7, SDG-9, and SDG-12.

RESUMEN

An internal built electric field can suppress the recombination of electron-hole pairs and distinctly enhance the catalytic activity of a photocatalyst. Novel t-Ag/0.95AgNbO3-0.05LiTaO3 heterojunction was prepared by reducing silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) on the surface of the piezoelectric powder 0.95AgNbO3-0.05LiTaO3 (0.05-ANLT) using a simple mechanical milling method. The effects of milling time and excitation source used for the degradation of organic dye by heterojunction catalysts were investigated. The results demonstrate that the optimized 1.5-Ag/0.05-ANLT heterojunction removes 97% RhB within 40 min, which is 7.8 times higher than that of single piezoelectric catalysis and 25.4 times higher than that of single photocatalysis. The significant enhancement of photocatalytic activity can be attributed to the synergistic coupling of the surface plasmon resonance (SPR) effect and the piezoelectric effect.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To explore the effect of comprehensive nursing intervention in advanced PCa patients receiving chemoradiotherapy. METHODS: This study included 70 patients with advanced PCa undergoing chemoradiotherapy in our department from January 2020 to April 2022, who were randomly divided into a control (n = 35) and an intervention group (n = 35), the former receiving routine nursing care while the latter comprehensive nursing intervention, including such measures as health education, psychological care, radiotherapy care, chemotherapy care, and complication care. After intervention, comparisons were made between the two groups of patients in the Expanded Prostate Cancer Index Composite (EPIC) scores and incidence of adverse reactions to chemoradiotherapy. RESULTS: The scores on all the dimensions of EPIC were significantly higher in the intervention than in the control group (P < 0.05) and the incidence rate of radiation-induced proctitis and cystitis remarkably lower in the former than in the latter (36.11% vs 71.43%, P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: Comprehensive nursing intervention can improve the quality of life of the PCa patients undergoing chemoradiotherapy, increase their compliance with treatment and reduce their adverse reactions, and therefore deserves clinical promotion.

RESUMEN

Manganese dioxide (MnO2) has always been the ideal electrode material for supercapacitors due to its non-toxic nature and high theoretical capacity (1370 F g-1). Over the past few years, significant progress has been made in the development of high performance MnO2-based electrode materials. This review summarizes recent research progress in experimental, simulation and theoretical studies for the modification of MnO2-based electrode materials from different perspectives of morphology engineering, defect engineering and heterojunction engineering. Several main approaches to achieve enhanced electrochemical performance are summarized, respectively increasing the effective active site, intrinsic conductivity and structural stability. On this basis, the future problems and research directions of electrode materials are further envisaged, which provide theoretical guidance for the adequate design and synthesis of MnO2-based electrode materials for use in supercapacitors.

RESUMEN

For the first time, piezocatalysis activity has been observed in bismuth-based MOFs (ultrasound vibration treatment) with two different morphologies, namely FCAU-17 (flakes) and CAU-17 (rods). CAU-17 and FCAU-17 were synthesized by solvothermal and ultrasonic methods, respectively, with the same organic ligand (1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylic acid) and metal salt (Bi(NO3)3·5H2O). Among these, the apparent rate constant k of CAU-17 in piezo-photocatalysis is 3.9 × 10-2 min-1, which is ∼3.9 and âˆ¼ 1.5 times of those in photocatalysis and piezocatalysis, respectively. CAU-17 showed much high piezo-photocatalytic activity during degradation of RhB. Efficiently coupling between piezocatalysis and photocatalysis has been realized in rod-like CAU-17 (ultrasound vibration treatment). Our results provide a new strategy to improve catalytic performance of Bi MOFs through an efficient synergistic piezo-photocatalysis approach for environmental remediation.

RESUMEN

The structural growth of Gd-doped germanium anionic nanoclusters, GdGe n - (n = 5-18), has been explored via quantum chemistry calculations using the mPW2PLYP method and an unprejudiced structural searching technique known as ABCluster. The optimized geometries exhibited that when n = 10-14, the structural evolution favors the Gd-linked configuration where the Gd atom as a connector bridges two Ge subgroups, while the Gd atom is encapsulated in a closed cage-like Ge frame when n = 15-18. The properties like magnetic moment, charge transfer, relative stability, HOMO-LUMO gap, photoelectron spectra, and infrared and Raman spectra have been predicted. The information of these spectra could provide extra approaches to experimentally determine the electronic structures and equilibrium configuration of these compounds. The largest spin magnetic moment of 7 µ B is attained via half-filled 4f states. The GdGe16 - nanocluster is determined to be a superatom because its total valence of 75 electrons can be distributed to the orbital sequence of 1S21P6(4f7)1D101F142S22P21G182P42D10, which complies with not only Hund's rule, but also the spherical jellium model. Particularly, its UV-Vis spectra match well with solar energy distribution. Such materials act as nano multifunctional building units potentially used in solar energy converters or ultra-highly sensitive near-infrared photodetectors.

RESUMEN

A strong metal-support interaction (SMSI) type catalyst has been synthesized and applied to a molten hydroxide direct carbon fuel cell (MHDCFC) to enhance the reaction activity of the anode carbon fuel through the interaction between the metal Ni and the support CeO2. Two catalysts have been prepared by a direct precipitation method (denoted NiO@CeO2) and a hydrothermal method (denoted NiO-CeO2), which are reduced by H2 to obtain Ni@CeO2 and Ni-CeO2, respectively. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Raman, and temperature-programmed hydrogen reduction (H2-TPR) analysis results show that there are obvious oxygen vacancies and a Ni-O-Ce interface structure in NiO-CeO2 and Ni-CeO2, which is induced by the interaction between Ni and CeO2. The calculation results of current density and power density show that the performance of the MHDCFC is significantly improved in the presence of Ni-CeO2. The function fitting curves of the logarithm of the reaction rate constant (ln k) and the reciprocal of the temperature (1/T) show that the slope of the curve is decreased significantly after the addition of Ni-CeO2. In combination with density functional theory (DFT), the anode carbon reaction path is simulated in the MHDCFC, and the calculation results show that the reaction energy for the anodic carbon to generate carbon dioxide is decreased by 1.03 eV in the presence of Ni-CeO2.

RESUMEN

The structural evolution pattern and electronic properties of Lu-doped germanium anion clusters, LuGen- (n = 5-17), have been investigated using a global search method combined with a double hybrid density functional theory and by comparing the theoretical PES spectra with the experimental ones. It is found that, for the structural growth patterns, a Lu-linked configuration is preferred for n = 10-14 in which the Lu atom as a linker connects two Ge subclusters and a Lu-encapsulated Ge cage-like motif is preferred for n = 15-17. The simulated PES spectra agree with experimental ones, revealing that the current global minimum structures are the true minima. The properties such as relative stability, charge transfer, highest-energy occupied molecular orbital-lowest-energy unoccupied molecular orbital (HOMO-LUMO) gap, IR, Raman, and ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis) spectra have been evaluated. The results of IR and Raman spectra could provide additional ways to experimentally identify the structure of these clusters. The results of stability, HOMO-LUMO gap, and UV-vis spectra could make the LuGe16- cluster the most suitable building block for further development as a potential optoelectronic material.

RESUMEN

The preparation of porous materials from renewable energy sources is attracting intensive attention due to in terms of the application/economic advantage, and pore structural design is core in the development of efficient supercapacitors or available porous media. In this work, we focused on the transformation of natural biomass, such as cotton, into more stable porous carbonaceous forms for energy storage in practical applications. Biomorphic cotton fibers are pretreated under the effect of NaOH/urea swelling on cellulose and are subsequently used as a biomass carbon source to mold the porous microtubule structure through a certain degree of calcining. As a merit of its favorable structural features, the hierarchical porous carbon fibers exhibit an enhanced electric double layer capacitance (221.7 F g-1 at 0.3 A g-1) and excellent cycling stability (only 4.6% loss was observed after 6000 cycles at 2 A g-1). A detailed investigation displays that biomass-swelling behavior plays a significant role, not only in improving the surface chemical characteristics of biomorphic cotton fibers but also in facilitating the formation of a hierarchical porous carbon fiber structure. In contrast to traditional methods, nickel foams have been used as the collector for supercapacitor that requiring no additional polymeric binders or carbon black as support or conductive materials. Because of the absence of additive materials, we can further enhance capacitance. This remarkable capacitive performance can be due to sufficient void space within the porous microstructure. By effectively increasing the contact area between the carbon surface and the electrolyte, which can reduce the ion diffusion pathway or buffer the volume change during cycling. This approach opens a novel route to produce the abundantly different morphology of porous biomass-based carbon materials and proposes a green alternative method to meet sustainable development needs.
