RESUMEN

The effect of SHF radiation on the content of A and E vitamins in tissues of rat brain, liver and testis was studied. Among the tissues examined, the brain was found to be most sensitive to weak SHF radiation. The radiation induced a change in the ratio of A and E vitamins in the brain, which, in turn, increased the probability of damage to cell membranes. In the liver, the tocopherol level after irradiation remained unchanged, and in the testis it increased insignificantly. This suggests a high resistance of the antioxidant systems of liver and testis tissues.

RESUMEN

In seasonal experiments (spring and autumn) with Wistar female rats, a study was made of the level of lipopigments (LP) and alpha-tocopherol (TPh) fluorescence in the liver and brain. Seasonal peculiarities of the parameters under study and their dependence on Vitamin E ingestion have been revealed. After irradiation of animals, an intimate morphofunctional relationship between LP and TP and its sensitivity to alimentary factors have been found. One hour following irradiation, part of LP is disintegrated thus releasing the TPh reserve. This may be the part of the complex of adaptation changes on the postirradiation metabolic effects.

RESUMEN

The data are presented in this paper concerning the content of lipopigments, vitamin E and malondialdehyde (MDA) in the brain and liver of rats. Excess vitamin E delivered with food was shown to be bound in tissues into complex with MDA. It is suggested that it is a labile form that reserves vitamin E. Irradiation of rats caused impairment of these complex and release of vitamin E, as well as a decrease in the lipopigment fluorescence and increase in the MDA content.

RESUMEN

The experiments on the heat and liver of 1-, 3-, 12- and 24-month-old rats were conducted to study the effect of ischemia for 1 h on the content of tocopherol vitamers in these tissues. The parameters under study were shown to reliably decrease in all the cases. In the liver the content of all the tocopherol vitamers decreased most rapidly in 1-month-old rats. In the heart the most rapid decrease in the content of vitamers was observed in 3-month-old rats. The results observed permit estimating contribution of certain vitamers to remedy injuries caused by ischemia.

RESUMEN

Experiments on young puberal Wistar rats have shown that chronic effect of the electrostatic field brings lipid peroxidation (LPO) to a new level of the dynamic equilibrium. Metabolism of lipids proved to be sensitive to this factor. But the systems regulating LPO actively holds a new equilibrium state. Inert LPO products of the lipopigments type can bind vitamin E whose content in tissues remains unchanged.

RESUMEN

Data are presented in this paper on the effect of vitamin E on rats given a fish diet after whole-body gamma-irradiation. The content of lipid peroxidation products in rat plasma, brain and liver and also the content of vitamin E have been investigated. Irradiation increases lipid peroxidation in the studied tissues and decreases vitamin E content. This process is aggravated by the fish diet. Vitamin E given in addition to fish diet helps the organism to stabilize the antioxidant homeostasis at a qualitatively different level.

RESUMEN

In blood plasma, liver, and brain of pubertal female Wistar line rats the level of diene conjugates, fluorescent lipopigments and vitamin E were studied as a function of different diets: control, fish and fish with addition of vitamin E. The obtained results show that in the brain tissue the role of vitamin E as an antioxidant is more pronounced, but dynamical equilibrium between the oxidation substrates and antioxidants after alimentary deficiency of vitamin E is restored in the nervous tissue more slowly than in the liver and blood plasma. In the organism of young animals fluorescent pigments are not accumulated in form of inert products, but behave as normal metabolites.

RESUMEN

The action of electrostatic field (320 kV/m) on the adaptability has been studied in experiments on young Wistar rats (females). Some parameters of carbohydrate, lipid and protein metabolism, and the process of lipid peroxidation were observed in blood serum, liver and brain. Glucose content was observed to increase in all the tissues, liver glycogen, cholesterol/phospholipid ratio. The urea and malondialdehyde increased in the liver and brain. The experiments have shown that the physiological adaptability is high.

RESUMEN

Spectral characteristics of the lipid liver and brain extracts were studied in experiments on rats of different age (1, 3, 12, 24 months). The aim of the experiments was to study age peculiarities of the lipopigments composition by means of thin-layer and liquid chromatography. Different fractions of lipids which differ in spectral absorption and fluorescence were extracted. Proceeding from the results obtained certain conclusions may be derived: the processes of structural recombination of the whole lipid constituents are accompanied by the age accumulation of lipofuscin; the process of accumulation of lipofuscin is not monotonous and has pronounced age peculiarities; the formation of the lipid-pigment complex is tissue-specific.

RESUMEN

The influence of cuprum ions on the interaction between the antimalarial drug quinacrine (QA) and DNA is studied by polarized laser luminescence spectroscopy and fluorescence microscopy at molecular and cellular levels. An alteration of quinacrine luminescence intensity in complex with DNA caused by cuprum ions is explained in terms of redistribution of QA molecules from quenching GC- to fluorescent AT-DNA binding sites due to the competition of Cu2+ with the dye. Mechanisms of component interactions in the triplex "DNA-QA-Cu2+" in model and cellular systems are shown to be in qualitative agreement. QA photodynamic activity change caused by Cu2+ action is explained on the basis of the ideas being developed.
