BACKGROUND: China has thousands years of goat breeding and abundant goat genetic resources. Additionally, the Hainan black goat is one of the high-quality local goat breeds in China. In order to conserve the germplasm resources of the Hainan black goat, facilitate its genetic improvement and further protect the genetic diversity of goats, it is urgent to develop a single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) chip for Hainan black goat. RESULTS: In this study, we aimed to design a 10K liquid chip for Hainan black goat based on genotyping by pinpoint sequencing of liquid captured targets (cGPS). A total of 45,588 candidate SNP sites were obtained, 10,677 of which representative SNP sites were selected to design probes, which finally covered 9,993 intervals and formed a 10K cGPS liquid chip for Hainan black goat. To verify the 10K cGPS liquid chip, some southern Chinese goat breeds and a sheep breed with similar phenotype to the Hainan black goat were selected. A total of 104 samples were used to verify the clustering ability of the 10K cGPS liquid chip for Hainan black goat. The results showed that the detection rate of sites was 97.34% -99.93%. 84.5% of SNP sites were polymorphic. The heterozygosity rate was 3.08%-36.80%. The depth of more than 99.4% sites was above 10X. The repetition rate was 99.66%-99.82%. The average consistency between cGPS liquid chip results and resequencing results was 85.58%. In addition, the phylogenetic tree clustering analysis verified that the SNP sites on the chip had better clustering ability. CONCLUSION: These results indicate that we have successfully realized the development and verification of the 10K cGPS liquid chip for Hainan black goat, which provides a useful tool for the genome analysis of Hainan black goat. Moreover, the 10K cGPS liquid chip is conducive to the research and protection of Hainan black goat germplasm resources and lays a solid foundation for its subsequent breeding work.

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Population-based screening for gastric cancer (GC) in low prevalence nations is not recommended. The objective of this study was to develop a risk-prediction model to identify high-risk patients who could potentially benefit from targeted screening in a racial/ethnically diverse regional US population. METHODS: We performed a retrospective cohort study from Kaiser Permanente Southern California from January 2008-June 2018 among individuals age ≥50 years. Patients with prior GC or follow-up <30 days were excluded. Censoring occurred at GC, death, age 85 years, disenrollment, end of 5-year follow-up, or study conclusion. Cross-validated LASSO regression models were developed to identify the strongest of 20 candidate predictors (clinical, demographic, and laboratory parameters). Records from 12 of the medical service areas were used for training/initial validation while records from a separate medical service area were used for testing. RESULTS: 1,844,643 individuals formed the study cohort (1,555,392 training and validation, 289,251 testing). Mean age was 61.9 years with 53.3% female. GC incidence was 2.1 (95% CI 2.0-2.2) cases per 10,000 person-years (pyr). Higher incidence was seen with family history: 4.8/10,000 pyr, history of gastric ulcer: 5.3/10,000 pyr, H. pylori: 3.6/10,000 pyr and anemia: 5.3/10,000 pyr. The final model included age, gender, race/ethnicity, smoking, proton-pump inhibitor, family history of gastric cancer, history of gastric ulcer, H. pylori infection, and baseline hemoglobin. The means and standard deviations (SD) of c-index in validation and testing datasets were 0.75 (SD 0.03) and 0.76 (SD 0.02), respectively. CONCLUSIONS: This prediction model may serve as an aid for pre-endoscopic assessment of GC risk for identification of a high-risk population that could benefit from targeted screening.

Idiopathic nephrotic syndrome (NS) is a heterogeneous group of glomerular disorders which includes two major phenotypes: minimal change disease (MCD) and focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS). MCD and FSGS are classic types of primary podocytopathies. We aimed to explore the molecular mechanisms in NS triggered by primary podocytopathies and evaluate diagnostic value of the selected proteomic signatures by analyzing blood proteome profiling. Totally, we recruited 90 participants in two cohorts. The first cohort was analyzed using label-free quantitative (LFQ) proteomics to discover differential expressed proteins and identify enriched biological process in NS which were further studied in relation to clinical markers of kidney injury. The second cohort was analyzed using parallel reaction monitoring-based quantitative proteomics to verify the data of LFQ proteomics and assess the diagnostic performance of the selected proteins using receiver-operating characteristic curve analysis. Several biological processes (such as immune response, cell adhesion, and response to hypoxia) were found to be associated with kidney injury during MCD and FSGS. Moreover, three proteins (CSF1, APOC3, and LDLR) had over 90% sensitivity and specificity in detecting adult NS triggered by primary podocytopathies. The identified biological processes may play a crucial role in MCD and FSGS pathogenesis. The three blood protein markers are promising for diagnosing adult NS triggered by primary podocytopathies.

OBJECTIVE: To find the relationship between N6-methyladenosine (m6A) genes and Major Depressive Disorder (MDD). METHODS: Differential expression of m6A associated genes between normal and MDD samples was initially identified. Subsequent analysis was conducted on the functions of these genes and the pathways they may affect. A diagnostic model was constructed using the expression matrix of these differential genes, and visualized using a nomogram. Simultaneously, an unsupervised classification method was employed to classify all patients based on the expression of these m6A associated genes. Following this, common differential genes among different clusters were computed. By analyzing the functions of the common differential expressed genes among clusters, the role of m6A-related genes in the pathogenesis of MDD patients was elucidated. RESULTS: Differential expression was observed in ELAVL1 and YTHDC2 between the MDD group and the control group. ELAVL1 was associated with comorbid anxiety in MDD patients. A linear regression model based on these two genes could accurately predict whether patients in the GSE98793 dataset had MDD and could provide a net benefit for clinical decision-making. Based on the expression matrix of ELAVL1 and YTHDC2, MDD patients were classified into three clusters. Among these clusters, there were 937 common differential genes. Enrichment analysis was also performed on these genes. The ssGSEA method was applied to predict the content of 23 immune cells in the GSE98793 dataset samples. The relationship between these immune cells and ELAVL1, YTHDC2, and different clusters was analyzed. CONCLUSION: Among all the m6A genes, ELAVL1 and YTHDC2 are closely associated with MDD, ELAVL1 is related to comorbid anxiety in MDD. ELAVL1 and YTHDC2 have opposite associations with immune cells in MDD.

Much effort has been devoted to improving treatment efficiency for osteosarcoma (OS). However, most current approaches result in poor therapeutic responses, thus indicating the need for the development of other therapeutic options. This study developed a multifunctional nanoparticle, PDA-MOF-E-M, an aggregation of OS targeting, programmed death targeting, and near-infrared (NIR)-aided targeting. At the same time, a multifunctional nanoparticle that utilises Fe-MOFs to create a cellular iron-rich environment and erastin as a ferroptosis inducer while ensuring targeted delivery to OS cells through cell membrane encapsulation is presented. The combination of PDA-MOF-E-M and PTT increased intracellular ROS and LPO levels and induced ferroptosis-related protein expression. A PDA-based PTT combined with erastin showed significant synergistic therapeutic improvement in the anti-tumour efficiency of the nanoparticle in vitro and vivo. The multifunctional nanoparticle efficiently prevents the osteoclasia progression of OS xenograft bone tumors in vivo. Finally, this study provides guidance and a point of reference for clinical approaches to treating OS.

Myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury (MIRI) is a pathophysiological process connected to the onset of numerous heart disorders. The pathogenesis of MIRI is complex, and it mainly involves calcium overload, classic oxidative stress, mitochondrial disorder, inflammation, microvascular disorder, and cell death. The clinical treatment options for MIRI are presently constrained, making it imperative to develop new treatment modalities. Recent studies have demonstrated that ferroptosis is the main cause of MIRI. Ferroptosis is a new type of regulated iron-dependent cell death whose mechanism and targeted therapy are anticipated to be novel therapeutic techniques for MIRI. Herein, the primary mechanism underlying ferroptosis (the 3 major metabolic routes involving iron, amino acids, and lipids, and in MIRI, the specific mechanism and therapeutic target of ferroptosis) are discussed to determine the potential therapeutic approach for MIRI.

BACKGROUND: Azvudine has been approved for the treatment of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients in China, and this meta-analysis aims to illustrate the safety of azvudine and its effectiveness in reducing mortality. METHODS: PubMed, Embase, Web of science, Cochrane Library and the Epistemonikos COVID-19 Living Overview of Evidence database (L.OVE) were searched to aggregate currently published studies. Cochrane risk of bias tool and ROBINS-I tool were used to assess the risk of bias of randomized controlled study and cohort study respectively. Odds radios (ORs) with 95% confidence interval (CIs) were combined for dichotomous variables. Publication bias was assessed by Egger's test and funnel plots. RESULTS: A total of 184 articles were retrieved from the included databases and 17 studies were included into the final analysis. Pooled analysis showed that azvudine significantly reduced mortality risk in COVID-19 patients compared with controls (OR: 0.41, 95%CI 0.31-0.54, p < 0.001). Besides, either mild to moderate or severe COVID-19 patients could benefit from azvudine administration. There was no significant difference in the incidence of ICU admission (OR: 0.90, 95%CI 0.47-1.72, p = 0.74) and invasive ventilation (OR: 0.94, 95%CI 0.54-1.62, p = 0.82) between azvudine and control group. The incidence of adverse events was similar between azvudine and control (OR: 1.26, 95%CI 0.59-2.70, p = 0.56). CONCLUSIONS: This meta-analysis suggests that azvudine could reduce the mortality risk of COVID-19 patients, and the safety of administration is acceptable. (1) Background: Mannheimia haemolytica (M. haemolytica) is an opportunistic pathogen and is mainly associated with respiratory diseases in cattle, sheep, and goats. (2) Methods: In this study, a mouse infection model was established using a M. haemolytica strain isolated from goats. Histopathological observations were conducted on various organs of the mice, and bacterial load determination and RNA-seq analysis were specifically performed on the spleens of the mice. (3) Results: The findings of this study suggest that chemokines, potentially present in the spleen of mice following a M. haemolytica challenge, may induce the migration of leukocytes to the spleen and suppress the release of pro-inflammatory factors through a negative feedback regulation mechanism. Additionally, an interesting observation was made regarding the potential of hematopoietic stem/progenitor cells congregating in the spleen to differentiate into immune cells, which could potentially collaborate with leukocytes in their efforts to counteract M. haemolytica invasion. (4) Conclusions: This study revealed the immune regulation mechanism induced by M. haemolytica in the mouse spleen, providing valuable insights into host-pathogen interactions and offering a theoretical basis for the prevention, control, and treatment of mannheimiosis.

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to understand the long-term symptom trajectories of Chinese patients with major depressive disorder (MDD) using piecewise latent growth modeling and growth mixture modeling. The investigation also aimed to identify the baseline characteristics indicative of poorer treatment outcomes. METHODS: A total of 558 outpatients with MDD were assessed using a sequence of surveys. The Hamilton Rating Scale for Depression (HRSD), Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HAMA), and Measurement and Treatment Research to Improve Cognition in Schizophrenia (MATRICS) Consensus Cognitive Battery (MCCB) were used to evaluate baseline depression, anxiety, and cognitive function. Depression symptom severity was subsequently measured at the 1-month, 2-month, 6-month, 1-year, and 2-year follow-ups. RESULTS: Results indicated three depressive symptomology trajectories, including (a) severe, improving class (12.72 %), (b) partially responding, later deteriorating class (6.09 %), and (c) moderate, improving class (81.18 %). Logistic regression analyses showed that a history of cardiovascular disease (CVD) increased the odds of belonging to the partially responding, later deteriorating class, whereas higher baseline depression increased the odds of belonging to the severe, improving class compared to the moderate, improving class. Patients who experienced less depression relief during the first month of treatment had a lower probability of belonging to the moderate, improving class. LIMITATIONS: Participant attrition in this study may have inflated the estimated rate of treatment-resistant patients. CONCLUSIONS: The burden of CVD and poorer initial treatment response are plausible risk factors for poorer treatment outcomes, highlighting targets for intervention in Chinese MDD patients.

Wound infections and delayed complications after caesarean section surgical procedure to mothers would have a prevalence of discomfort, stress and dissatisfaction in the postpartum period. In this report, one-pot synthesis is used for the preparation of chitosan (CS)-based copper nanoparticles (nCu), which was used for the preparation of zinc oxide (ZnO) hydrogel as wound dressing materials after surgery. The antibacterial activity of (CS-nCu/ZnO) developed hydrogels was studied zone of inhibition, against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. The antibacterial activity of the CS-nCu/ZnO hydrogel demonstrated that nanoformulated hydrogel materials have provided excellent bactericidal action against clinically approved bacterial pathogens. The biocompatibility and in vitro wound healing potential of the developed wound closure materials were studied by MTT assay and wound scratch assay methods, respectively. The MTT assay and cell migration assay results demonstrated that CS-nCu/ZnO hydrogel material induces cell compatibility and effective cell proliferation ability. These findings suggest that the CS-nCu/ZnO hydrogel outperforms CS-ZnO in terms of wound healing and could be used as a wound closure material in caesarean section wound treatment.

INTRODUCTION: Screening for pancreatic cancer (PC) is suggested for high-risk individuals. Additional risk factors may enhance early detection in this population. METHODS: Retrospective cohort study among patients with germline variants and/or familial pancreatic cancer in an integrated healthcare system between 2003 and 2019. We calculated the incidence rate (IR) by risk category and performed a nested case-control study to evaluate the relationship between HbA1C and PC within 3 years before diagnosis (cases) or match date (controls). Cases were matched 1:4 by age, sex, and timing of HbA1c. Logistic regression was performed to assess an independent association with PC. RESULTS: We identified 5,931 high-risk individuals: 1,175(19.8%) familial PC, 45(0.8%) high-risk germline variants ( STK11, CDKN2A ), 4,097(69.1%) had other germline variants ( ATM, BRCA 1, BRCA 2, CASR, CDKN2A, CFTR, EPCAM, MLH1, MSH2, MSH6, PALB2, PRSS1, STK11, and TP53 ), and 614(10.4%) had both germline variants and family history. Sixty-eight patients (1.1%) developed PC; 50% were metastatic at diagnosis. High-risk variant was associated with greatest risk of PC, IR = 85.1(95% confidence interval: 36.7-197.6)/10,000 person-years; other germline variants and first-degree relative had IR = 33 (18.4, 59.3), whereas IR among ≥2 first-degree relative alone was 10.7 (6.1, 18.8). HbA1c was significantly higher among cases vs controls (median = 7.0% vs 6.4%, P = 0.02). In multivariable analysis, every 1% increase in HbA1c was associated with 36% increase in odds of PC (odds ratio 1.36, 95% confidence interval: 1.08-1.72). Pancreatitis was independently associated with a risk of PC (odds ratio 3.93, 95% confidence limit 1.19, 12.91). DISCUSSION: Risk of PC varies among high-risk individuals. HbA1c and history of pancreatitis may be useful additional markers for early detection in this patient population.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the clinical characteristics, diagnosis, and treatment of one patient with TAFRO syndrome, and to strengthen the understanding of this rare type. METHODS: The clinical manifestations, diagnosis and treatment process, and prognosis of the patient admitted in Gansu Provincial People's Hospital were retrospectively analyzed. RESULTS: Combined with laboratory tests, bone marrow examination, imaging, pathology, etc, the patient was diagnosed with TAFRO syndrome. After three cycles of treatment with pomalidomide (2-3 mg/d, d1-21), cyclophosphamide (300 mg/m2, 0.54 g once a week) and dexamethasone (20 mg/d, two days a week), platelet count, serum creatinine and procalcitonin returned to normal, the systemic edema disappeared, and the patient's condition was alleviated. The therapeutic effect was good. CONCLUSION: TAFRO syndrome is rare, involves multiple systems, progresses rapidly, and has a worse prognosis. The choice of the "Pomalidomide+cyclophosphamide+dexamethasone" regimen is help to improve the survival prognosis of patient with TAFRO syndrome.

Buffalo meat is gaining popularity for its nutritional properties, such as its low fat and cholesterol content. However, it is often unsatisfactory to consumers due to its dark color and low tenderness. There is currently limited research on the regulatory mechanisms of buffalo meat quality. Xinglong buffalo are raised in the tropical Hainan region and are undergoing genetic improvement from draught to meat production. For the first time, we evaluated the meat quality traits of Xinglong buffalo using the longissimus dorsi muscle and compared them to Hainan cattle. Furthermore, we utilized a multi-omics approach combining transcriptomics and metabolomics to explore the underlying molecular mechanism regulating meat quality traits. We found that the Xinglong buffalo had significantly higher meat color redness but lower amino acid content and higher shear force compared to Hainan cattle. Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and differentially accumulated metabolites (DAMs) were identified, with them being significantly enriched in nicotinic acid and nicotinamide metabolic and glycine, serine, and threonine metabolic pathways. The correlation analysis revealed that those genes and metabolites (such as: GAMT, GCSH, PNP, L-aspartic acid, NADP+, and glutathione) are significantly associated with meat color, tenderness, and amino acid content, indicating their potential as candidate genes and biological indicators associated with meat quality. This study contributes to the breed genetic improvement and enhancement of buffalo meat quality.

BACKGROUND: Intensive care unit-acquired weakness (ICU-AW) is a prevalent and severe issue among ICU patients. Resistance training and beta-hydroxy-beta-methylbutyrate (HMB) intervention have demonstrated the potential to enhance muscle function in patients with sarcopenia and in older adults. The purpose of this study was to determine whether resistance training and/or HMB administration would improve physical function, muscle strength, and quality of life in medical ICU patients. METHODS: In this multicentre, four-arm, single-blind randomised control trial, a total of 112 adult patients with internal medical diagnoses admitted to the ICU were enrolled. These participants were then randomly assigned to one of four treatment groups: the resistance training group received protocol-based multilevel resistance exercise, the HMB group received 3 g/day of HMBCa, combination group and control groups received standard care, from the ICU to the general ward until discharge. The primary outcomes assessed at discharge included six-minute walking distance (6MWD) and short physical performance battery (SPPB). Secondary outcomes measured included muscle mass, MRC score, grip strength, and health reports quality of life at different time points. Data analysis was performed using a generalised linear mixed model, adhering to the principles of intention-to-treat analysis. RESULTS: Resistance training and combination treatment groups exhibited significant increases in SPPB scores (3.848 and 2.832 points, respectively) compared to the control group and substantial improvements in 6WMD (99.768 and 88.577 m, respectively) (all with P < 0.01). However, no significant changes were observed in the HMB group. Muscle strength, as indicated by MRC and grip strength tests conducted at both ICU and hospital discharge, showed statistically significant improvements in the resistance training and combination groups (P < 0.05). Nevertheless, no significant differences were found between the treatment groups and usual care in terms of 60-day mortality, prevalence of ICU-AW, muscle mass, quality of life, or other functional aspects. CONCLUSIONS: Resistance training with or without beta-hydroxy-beta-methylbutyrate during the entire hospitalisation intervention improves physical function and muscle strength in medical ICU patients, but muscle mass, quality of life, and 60-day mortality were unaffected. RESUMEN

In this paper we consider a free boundary problem for a nonlocal time-periodic competition model. One species is assumed to adopt nonlocal dispersal, and the other one adopts mixed dispersal, which is a combination of both random dispersal and nonlocal dispersal. We first prove the global well-posedness of solutions to the free boundary problem with more general growth functions, and then discuss the spreading and vanishing phenomena. Moreover, under the weak competition condition, we study the long-time behaviors of solutions for the spreading case.

Molecular dopants can effectively improve the performance of organic solar cells (OSCs). Here, PM6/BTP-eC9-4Cl-based OSCs are fabricated by a layer-by-layer (LbL) deposition method, and the electron acceptor BTP-eC9-4Cl layer is properly doped by n-type dopant benzyl viologen (BV) or [4-(1,3-dimethyl-2,3-dihydro-1H-benzoimidazol-2-yl)phenyl]dimethyl-amine (N-DMBI-H). The power conversion efficiency (PCE) of OSCs increases from 16.80 to 17.61 or 17.84% when the acceptor layer is doped by BV (0.01 wt %) or N-DMBI-H (0.01 wt %), respectively. At the optimal doping concentration, the device exhibits more balanced charge transport, fewer bimolecular recombinations, faster charge separation and transfer, and better stability. This doping strategy has good universality; when the acceptor layer L8-BO of LbL OSCs is doped by 0.01 wt % BV or 0.01 wt % N-DMBI-H, the PCE increases from 17.49 to 18.35 or 18.25%, respectively. All in all, our studies have demonstrated that the doping strategy is effective in enhancing the performance of OSCs.

BACKGROUND: The social signal transduction theory of depression proposes that life stress can be transformed into inflammatory signals, and ultimately lead to the development of major depressive disorder (MDD). The hypotheses of this study were: (1) The pro-inflammatory effect of life stress was only seen in patients with MDD, but not in healthy controls (HCs); (2) Inflammation can mediate the relationship between life stress and depressive symptoms. METHODS: This study included 170 MDD patients and 196 HCs, and 13 immune-inflammatory biomarkers closely related to MDD were measured, principal component analysis (PCA) was adopted to extract the inflammatory index. Life stress was assessed by Life Event Scale (LES), a total score of >32 points on the LES was considered as adulthood adversity (AA). Path analyses were used to explore the relationship among adulthood stress, inflammatory index, and severity of depression. RESULTS: Among MDD patients, α2M, CXCL-1, IL-1ß, and TLR-1 levels were higher in patients with AA than non-AA group (all FDR-adjusted P values <0.05), meanwhile, the levels of CCL-2 and IL-18 were lower. Path analyses suggested that pro- and anti-inflammatory index could mediate the association between AA and severity of depression in MDD patients. CONCLUSION: This study found that inflammatory signals can mediate the relationship between adulthood adversity and depression, however, the causal relationship need to be further confirmed. These findings shed light on further understanding the theory of social signal transduction in MDD and provide clues for stress management and controlling inflammation strategies in depression. OBJECTIVE: To study the relationship between clock genes and Major Depressive Disorder (MDD). METHODS: GEO database was used to obtain the chip data and clinical information of datasets GSE98793, GSE39653 and GSE52790. The differentially expressed clock genes were found through the analysis of the differentially expressed genes between MDD and healthy controls. Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes Pathway (KEGG) enrichment analysis were performed on the differential expressed clock genes. Lasso Regression and Support Vector Machine (SVM) method were used for screening the differential expressed clock genes. Logistic regression was used to establish a diagnostic model for depression with the screened genes. Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) Curve was used to verify the model. Gene differential expression analysis was performed for MDD with high scores and MDD with low scores in the diagnostic model. Gene Set Enrichment Analysis (GSEA) enrichment analysis was performed for differentially expressed genes. Single-gene GSEA was used to analyze each gene in the model separately. Cibersort method was used to analyze the immune infiltration of MDD and healthy controls, and the correlation between immune cells and clock genes was analyzed. Cytoscape was used to analyze the clock gene interaction network. The DGIdb website was used to predict potentially effective therapeutic drugs for clock genes closely related to MDD. RESULTS: Six genes were identified by differential expression analysis of clock genes between MDD and healthy controls. GO and KEGG enrichment analysis of 6 genes showed that their pathways were concentrated such as circadian rhythm, rhythmic process, TGF - beta signaling pathway, longevity regulating pathway-multiple species, adipocytokine signaling pathway and so on. Lasso regression and SVM were used to screen out 5 clock genes (HDAC1, ID3, NFIL3, PRKAA1, TNF) for MDD. The diagnostic model of depression was established according to the 5 clock genes. The area under the curve (AUC) of the established depression diagnostic model was 0.686. Gene difference analysis was performed between MDD patients with high score of clock gene diagnostic model and MDD patients with low score. GSEA was performed for the differential genes showed that the most enriched pathways were:adipocytokine signaling pathway, TGF beta signaling pathway, oxidative phosphorylation, primary immunodeficiency, and so on. The single gene GSEA showed that the most enriched pathways were Toll like receptor signaling pathway, glucolipid metabolism, amino acid metabolism, neuroactive ligand receptor interaction, and so on. The results of immune infiltration analysis showed that NK cells resting and Macrophages M2 were different between MDD and control groups. In MDD, the gene closely related to NK cells resting was HDAC1, and the genes closely related to Macrophages M2 were HDAC1 and NFIL3. The RNA interactions network of clock genes shows that the regulation process is complex, which can provide a reference for subsequent related research. Potential therapeutic drugs predict display, among the 5 clock genes, TNF, HDAC1, and PRKAA1 may have potential effective therapeutic drugs. CONCLUSION: Among all CLOCK genes, HDAC1, ID3, NFIL3, PRKAA1, TNF are closely related to MDD. Among them, TNF, HDAC1, and PRKAA1 may have potential effective therapeutic drugs.

The site-dependent photoluminescence of activators can be regulated by the sintering atmosphere, coexistence conditions, and especially cation codoping, which have been intensively studied for design and optimization of optical functional materials. Here, first-principles calculations are performed to determine the regulation of the site occupancy, valence states and optical transitions of Mn activators via codoping in yttrium aluminum garnets (YAGs), which contain three different cation sites. Without any codopants, Mnoct3+ dominates in defect concentration and photoluminescence, which can hardly be tuned by the sintering atmosphere or coexistence conditions of YAGs with other competing compounds. With the low formation energy of Ca2+, Be2+, Mg2+, and Sr2+ codopants and in an oxidation sintering atmosphere, the Fermi energy is lowered and the concentration and luminescence of Mnoct4+ are enhanced. Na+ and Li+ codopants with relatively high formation energy have little influence on tuning the Fermi energy. Then with the low formation energy of Ti4+, Si4+ codopants and in a reducing sintering atmosphere, the Fermi energy is lifted and the luminescence of Mndod2+ and Mnoct2+ is enhanced as a result of increased concentrations. The proposed first-principles scheme, with general applicability and encouraging predictive power, provides an effective approach for elucidating the effects of codoping impurities on the design and optimization of optical materials.
