RESUMEN

Due to the different weed characteristics in peanut fields at different weeding periods, there is an urgent need to study a general model of peanut and weed detection and identification applicable to different weeding periods in order to adapt to the development of mechanical intelligent weeding in fields. To this end, we propose a BEM-YOLOv7-tiny target detection model for peanuts and weeds identification and localization at different weeding periods to achieve mechanical intelligent weeding in peanut fields at different weeding periods. The ECA and MHSA modules were used to enhance the extraction of target features and the focus on predicted targets, respectively, the BiFPN module was used to enhance the feature transfer between network layers, and the SIoU loss function was used to increase the convergence speed and efficiency of model training and to improve the detection performance of the model in the field. The experimental results showed that the precision, recall, mAP and F1 values of the BEM-YOLOv7-tiny model were improved by 1.6%, 4.9%, 4.4% and 3.2% for weed targets and 1.0%, 2.4%, 2.2% and 1.7% for all targets compared with the original YOLOv7-tiny. The experimental results of positioning error show that the peanut positioning offset error detected by BEM-YOLOv7-tiny is less than 16 pixels, and the detection speed is 33.8 f/s, which meets the requirements of real-time seedling grass detection and positioning in the field. It provides preliminary technical support for intelligent mechanical weeding in peanut fields at different stages.

Postoperative urinary retention (POUR) is a common surgical complication that can result in bladder overdistension, urinary tract infection and an extended hospital stay. Although neostigmine is an effective therapy for POUR, its usage remains controversial. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of neostigmine in improving POUR after surgery. PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and the Cochrane Library databases were reviewed. A methodical search approach was used for data extraction, while meta-analysis and bias analysis employed Review Manager 5.2 and MedCalc. Fourteen studies involving 4196 postoperative patients were included. With an odds ratio (OR) of 1.70, 95% confidence interval (95% CI) of 1.11-2.60 and an overall effect with p < 0.05, our analysis indicated that the patients receiving neostigmine had a greater effective urine retention rate than after other standard therapies. The subgroup analysis showed that neostigmine recipients had reduced residual urine volume (mean difference (MD) = -1.16, 95% CI: -2.05--0.27, overall p < 0.05, and I2 = 90%) and POUR (standardized MD (SMD) = 3.76, 95% CI: 2.19-5.34, overall p < 0.001, and I2 = 99% using a random effects model) as compared to controls. A random-effects model was utilized due to the substantial heterogeneity between trials. The studies were consistent and had no publication bias. Based on the findings of this meta-analysis, neostigmine can be considered an effective POUR treatment.

Semaphorin 3A (Sema3A) is a secretory member of the semaphorin family of immune response regulators. This research focuses on its effects on inflammation and oxidative stress in acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). By analysing the GEO dataset GSE57011, we obtained Sema3A as the most downregulated gene in ARDS samples. Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) was used to stimulate rat pulmonary microvascular endothelial cells (PMVECs) and rats to induce ARDS-like symptoms in vitro and in vivo, respectively. LPS induced severe damage in rat lung tissues, in which reduced immunohistochemical staining of Sema3A was detected. Sema3A overexpression reduced apoptosis and angiogenesis of LPS-induced PMVECs and alleviated lung injury and pulmonary edoema of rats. Moreover, ELISA results showed that Sema3A overexpression downregulated the levels of inflammatory cytokines and oxidative stress markers both in PMVECs and the rat lung. Activation of ERK/JNK signalling aggravated LPS-induced damage on PMVECs; however, the aggravation was partly blocked by Sema3A, which suppressed phosphorylation of ERK/JNK. Overall, this study demonstrates that Sema3A inactivates the ERK/JNK signalling to ameliorate inflammation and oxidative stress in LPS-induced ARDS models. Sema3A might therefore represent a candidate option for ARDS treatment.

PURPOSE: Central venous catheter (CVC)-related thrombosis (CRT) is a known complication in critically ill patients. However, its clinical significance remains unclear. The objective of the study was to evaluate the occurrence and evolution of CRT from CVC insertion to removal. METHODS: A prospective multicenter study was conducted in 28 intensive care units (ICUs). Duplex ultrasound was performed daily from CVC insertion until at least 3 days after CVC removal or before patient discharge from the ICU to detect CRT and to follow its progression. CRT diameter and length were measured and diameter > 7 mm was considered extensive. RESULTS: The study included 1262 patients. The incidence of CRT was 16.9% (95% confidence interval 14.8-18.9%). CRT was most commonly found in the internal jugular vein. The median time from CVC insertion to CRT onset was 4 (2-7) days, and 12% of CRTs occurred on the first day and 82% within 7 days of CVC insertion. CRT diameters > 5 mm and > 7 mm were found in 48% and 30% of thromboses. Over a 7-day follow-up, CRT diameter remained stable when the CVC was in place, whereas it gradually decreased after CVC removal. The ICU length of stay was longer in patients with CRT than in those without CRT, and the mortality was not different. CONCLUSION: CRT is a frequent complication. It can occur as soon as the CVC is placed and mostly during the first week following catheterization. Half of the thromboses are small but one-third are extensive. They are often non-progressive and may be resolved after CVC removal.

Purpose: Sepsis-induced liver failure is a kind of liver injury with a high mortality, and ferroptosis plays a key role in this disease. Our research aims to screen ferroptosis-related genes in sepsis-induced liver failure as targeted therapy for patients with liver failure. Methods: Using the limma software, we analyzed the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in the GSE60088 dataset downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database. Clusterprofiler was applied for enrichment analysis of DEGs enrichment function. Then, the ferroptosis-related genes of the mice in the FerrDb database were crossed with DEGs. Sepsis mice model were prepared by cecal ligation and perforation (CLP). ALT and AST in the serum of mice were measured using detection kit. The pathological changes of the liver tissues in mice were observed by hematoxylin-eosin (H & E) staining. We detected the apoptosis of mice liver tissues using TUNEL. The expression of Hmox1, Epas1, Sirt1, Slc3a2, Jun, Plin2 and Zfp36 were detected by qRT-PCR. Results: DEGs analysis showed 136 up-regulated and 45 down-regulated DEGs. Meanwhile, we found that the up-regulated DEGs were enriched in pathways including the cytokine biosynthesis process while the down-regulated DEGs were enriched in pathways such as organic hydroxy compound metabolic process. In this study, seven genes (Hmox1, Epas1, Sirt1, Slc3a2, Jun, Plin2 and Zfp36) were obtained through the intersection of FerrDb database and DEGs. However, immune infiltration analysis revealed that ferroptosis-related genes may promote the development of liver failure through B cells and natural killer (NK) cells. Finally, it was confirmed by the construction of septic liver failure mice model that ferroptosis-related genes of Hmox1, Slc3a2, Jun and Zfp36 were significantly correlated with liver failure and were highly expressed. Conclusion: The identification of ferroptosis-related genes Hmox1, Slc3a2, Jun and Zfp36 in the present study contribute to our understanding of the molecular mechanism of sepsis-induced liver failure, and provide candidate targets for the diagnosis and treatment of the disease.

The purpose was to analyze the psychological changes of teaching staff in the academic management of local colleges, and briefly explore the role of teaching staff in the development of the social economy and colleges. In the environment of artificial intelligence and human-computer interaction (HCI), first, the relevant theories of teaching staffs' psychological status and the characteristics of teaching staff in college academic management were analyzed and expounded. Next, the way of the questionnaire was selected to analyze the psychology of teaching staff in college academic management at different ages, professional titles, academic qualifications, disciplines, and teaching years. The results showed that the mental health level of college teachers was lower than the current national adult standard; the mental health level of female teachers in colleges was higher than that of male teachers; the p value of mental health of college teachers with different ages, professional titles, education, disciplines, and teaching years was greater than 0.05, indicating that there was no significant difference; the p-value of professional academic and mental health was less than 0.01, indicating that there was a significant correlation, that was, teachers' professional academic exerted a significant impact on teachers' mental health. In short, under the background of artificial intelligence and HCI's rapid development, higher education was moving forward with high quality, and more attention should be paid to the psychological changes of college teaching staff.

BACKGROUND: Studies suggest Porphyromonas gingivalis (Pg) increased the incidence of oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). However, fimA genotypes distribution of Pg, the origination of Pg in tissue, and its prognostic value are inconclusive. We aimed to investigate the frequency of fimA genotypes in OSCC patients, study the association between Pg and OSCC, and explore the prognostic value of Pg. METHODS: The abundance of Pg in saliva from the OSCC group and the OSCC-free group was analysed by qPCR. The presence of Pg was explored in OSCC tissue and para-cancerous tissue by in situ hybridization. The frequency of fimA genotypes in saliva and OSCC tissue was determined by PCR, then PCR products were sequenced and compared. Clinical data were extracted, and patients followed up for a median period of 23 months. Clinicopathological variables were compared with the abundance of Pg using Pearson Chi-square test or Fisher's exact test. The disease-free survival (DFS) rate was calculated by Kaplan-Meier method with log-rank tests. RESULTS: Comparing the OSCC-free group, 95 patients with OSCC showed a high abundance of Pg in saliva (P = 0.033), and OSCC tissue showed strong in situ expression of Pg compared with paired normal tissue. Patients with OSCC showed a dominant distribution of Pg with genotype I + Ib (21.1%), II (31.6%), and IV (21.1%). FimA genotypes detected in saliva were in accordance with those in OSCC tissue, there was, moreover, a significant similarity in amplified Pg fragments. Of the 94 responsive OSCC patients, the recurrence rate was 26.6% (25/94). Overabundance of Pg in saliva showed advanced pathologic staging (P = 0.008), longer disease-free time (P = 0.029) and lower recurrence rate (P = 0.033). The overabundance of Pg in saliva was associated with improved disease-free survival (P = 0.049). CONCLUSIONS: This study indicated that Pg might involve in the pathogenesis of OSCC, Pg carrying fimA I, Ib, II, and IV were prevalent genotypes in patients with OSCC, the provenance of Pg in OSCC tissue might be from the salivary microbial reservoir, and the abundance of Pg in saliva might consider as a favorable potential prognostic indicator in OSCC.

Chemokines and their receptors show a strong relationship with poor clinical outcomes in various cancers. However, their underlying mechanisms remain to be fully elucidated. In our research, we found C-C chemokine receptor 7 (CCR7) and its ligand chemokine ligand 21 (CCL21) were abnormally abundant in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) tissues, and CCR7 expression was correlated with poor prognosis of OSCC. After exogenous CCL21 stimulation, epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) was promoted in OSCC cells, and cancer stem cell-related markers CD133, CD44, BMI1, ALDH1A1, and OCT4 increased. The migration, invasion, tumorsphere formation, and colony formation abilities of OSCC cells were enhanced, indicating that the stemness of OSCC cells was also improved. The knockdown and overexpression of CCR7 efficiently affected the CCL21-induced EMT and stemness of OSCC cells. When treated with CCL21, the phospho-JAK2 and phospho-STAT3 markedly increased. The inhibitor of the Janus kinase 2/signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (JAK2/STAT3) significantly suppressed CCL21-induced EMT and stemness of OSCC cells. In conclusion, CCL21/CCR7 axis regulated EMT progress and promoted the stemness of OSCC by activating the JAK2/STAT3 signaling pathway. CCL21/CCR7 might be an effective target for OSCC prevention and treatment.

Adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC) is an uncommon salivary gland malignancy with a poor long-term prognosis. Clinical reports show the high rates of local recurrences and distant metastases. This study aimed to investigate the expression of MIF, Beclin1, and light-chain 3 (LC3) in salivary adenoid cystic carcinoma (SACC).Tissue specimens were obtained from 48 salivary glands adenoid cystic carcinoma (SACC) patients and 15 oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) patients. Immunohistochemical staining was performed to estimate the level of LC3, Beclin1, and MIF. All SACC patients were followed up. The Kaplan-Meier method was used to compare the prognosis of patients after treatment.The 3-year, 5 year-, and 10 year-survival rates of the SACC patients were 83.9%, 69.9%, and 46.6%, respectively. MIF, LC3, and Beclin1 in SACC were all obviously over-expressed. MIF showed an increased tendency in cases with advanced TNM stages, and at the same time, there was an inversely proportional relationship between MIF and LC3, Beclin1.The long-term survival of SACC patients is poor. MIF might be a risk factor for SACC patients, whereas, LC3 and Beclin1 might be an effective strategy for treatment of SACC.

OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to present the use of inferiorly pedicled nasolabial flap (IPNF) in the reconstruction of anterior maxilla defects class I and II. METHODS: Seven patients, 4 females and 3 males, aging from 38 to 75 (mean = 55.9) years old, from 2014 to 2017 reconstructed anterior part of maxilla with or without oronasal communication were included in this study. Five patients diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma, 1 patient presented with epithelial-myoepithelial carcinoma, and 1 patient had ameloblastoma. The IPNFs were harvested in 7 patients. Follow-up data were collected for a period ranging from 9 to 26 months. Speech, mastication, and aesthetic outcomes were evaluated with a questionnaire in interview. RESULTS: All patients healed without infection, flap loss, and flap failure. Five patients without prothetic treatment had little pronunciation problem (score: 1 to 3 points), while 2 patients with removable partial denture had excellent speech clarity (score: 1 to 2 points). All patients had no problem with mastication (score: 1 to 2 points). Aesthetic outcomes were acceptable in all patients (score: 1 to 3 points). CONCLUSION: The IPNF is a good option for reconstruction of anterior maxilla defects class I and II.

Currently, the shortage of red components and easy aging of organic silicone still remain challenges for high-power phosphor-converted warm white light-emitting diodes (w-LEDs). Aiming to alleviate these issues, phosphor-in-glass (PiG), fabricated by co-sintering red- and yellow-emitting phosphors and low-melting glass, has been regarded as a promising color converter for w-LEDs. In this study, a Li+,Mn4+ co-doped SrMgAl10O17 red phosphor was synthesized via a conventional solid-state reaction. The as-prepared phosphor exhibits a deep red emission, ascribed to Mn4+:2Eg→4A2g spin-forbidden transition in the range of 600-700 nm with a narrow-band full width at half maximum of 55 nm, and provides an ideal broadband excitation extending from 250 to 530 nm. Impressively, the Li+ additive used as charge compensation was beneficial to enhance the Mn4+ luminescence by allowing more Mn4+ to replace Al3+. Furthermore, the developed SrMgAl10O17:Mn4+,Li+ red phosphor and commercial YAG:Ce3+ yellow phosphor co-doped inorganic PiG were successfully fabricated as color converters to substitute organic silicone. The w-LED was fabricated by combining an InGaN blue LED chip with a PiG plate. Importantly, the constructed w-LEDs exhibited superior optical performance and tuned chromaticity feature with the correlated color temperature evolved from bluish cool white (6903 K) to yellowish warm white (3717 K), and the color rendering index increased from 69.4 to 85.5, meeting the requirements for indoor lighting.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the expressions of interleukin (IL)-21 and phosphorylated extracellular signal regulated kinase 1/2 (pERK1/2) in Kimura disease (KD) and to correlate the findings with clinical and prognostic variables. METHODS: Immunohistochemical analysis of IL-21 and pERK1/2 was performed in 18 cases of KD and five gender- and age-matched control samples. Clinical data were extracted and patients followed up for a mean period of 32.1 months. RESULTS: After a mean follow-up period of 32.1 months (range 1-102 months), recurrence was diagnosed as the end point for seven patients-that is, a 44% (7/16) cumulative recurrence rate. In comparison with gender- and age-matched controls, patients showed strong in situ expressions of IL-21 and pERK1/2, respectively (p<0.05). Patients with strong IL-21 staining intensity and overexpression of pERK1/2 had a lower recurrence rate than those with moderate staining intensity (p=0.049, p=0.019, respectively). However, differences were not statistically significant by gender, age, eosinophils, location, multiplicity, laterality, size, duration and primary outbreak. pERK1/2 was the independent prognostic factor (p=0.020), while age, gender, eosinophils, multiplicity, laterality, size, duration, primary outbreak and expression of IL-21 were not. CONCLUSIONS: This study suggests that the IL-21/pERK1/2 pathway is activated in KD, and pERK1/2 might be considered as a potential prognostic indicator in KD.

The important roles of duplicated genes in evolutional process have been recognized in bacteria, archaebacteria and eukaryotes, while there is very little study on the multi-copied protein coding genes that share sequence identity of 100%. In this paper, the multi-copied protein coding genes in a number of prokaryotic genomes are comprehensively analyzed firstly. The results show that 0-15.93% of the protein coding genes in each genome are multi-copied genes and 0-16.49% of the protein coding genes in each genome are highly similar with the sequence identity ≥ 80%. Function and COG (Clusters of Orthologous Groups of proteins) analysis shows that 64.64% of multi-copied genes concentrate on the function of transposase and 86.28% of the COG assigned multi-copied genes concentrate on the COG code of 'L'. Furthermore, the impact of redundant protein coding sequences on the gene prediction results is studied. The results show that the problem of protein coding sequence redundancies cannot be ignored and the consistency of the gene annotation results before and after excluding the redundant sequences is negatively related with the sequences redundancy degree of the protein coding sequences in the training set.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the expressions of interleukin (IL)-21 (IL-21) and IL-22 in patients with Kimura's disease (KD). METHODS: Expressions of IL-21 and IL-22 were examined immunohistochemically in 36 patients with KD and 7 normal controls. The integral absorbance (IA) of the two groups was compared. Meanwhile, clinical data were reviewed. RESULTS: The IA of IL-21 [M(Q): 1 373 418 (1 800 926)] and IL-22 [M(Q): 462 086(484 672)] in KD was significantly higher than those in normal controls [M(Q): 70 445(44 658), 51 599(71 241), P < 0.05]. The overexpression of IL-21 was significantly associated with pruritus (Z = -1.993, P < 0.05). Moreover, IL-21 was identified for disease recurrence (Z = -2.303, P < 0.05). There was a significant association between the expression of IL-22 and the number of affected sites (Z = -1.979, P < 0.05). In addition, IL-22 was significantly higher in the high-eosinophils group than in the low-eosinophils group (Z = -2.025, P < 0.05). There was no association between IL-21, IL-22 and age, gender, laterality, maximum size. CONCLUSIONS: IL-21 and IL-22 may be involved in the pathogenesis of KD.

OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to evaluate risk factors for recurrence and prognosis of Kimura's disease. METHODS: In this study, 32 patients received surgery alone, surgery followed by steroids orally and surgery followed by radiotherapy respectively from 2003 to 2015 (male/female: 27/5, ages: 6-64 years). Retrieval of clinical data and follow-ups have been done. The clinical features used as variables include age, gender, location, multiplicity, laterality, size, duration, primary outbreak, smoking, eosinophils, systemic disease and remedies. Statistical analysis including Kaplan-Meier method, Fisher's exact test, Kruskal-Wallis H test, Mann-Whitney U-test and Cox proportional hazard regression model were performed with the SPSS 17.0. The threshold of statistical significance was set at P=0.05. RESULTS: Median recurrence time was 29 months (2.42 years) after discharged and 56.3% patients relapsed. High recurrence rate was significantly associated with smoking habit (P=0.036). Patients who were diagnosed systemic disease (P=0.027) and were treated with surgery alone (P=0.025) or surgery followed by steroids orally (P=0.025) had short disease-free time. Furthermore, smoking habit (HR=3.383, 95% CI: 1.213-9.433, P=0.02), systemic disease (HR=4.462, 95% CI: 1.443-13.794, P=0.009), surgery alone (HR=4.668, 95% CI: 1.506-14.470, P=0.008) and surgery followed by steroids orally (HR=6.053, 95% CI: 1.330-27.556, P=0.02) were identified as risk factors for the prognosis of Kimura's disease. CONCLUSIONS: Smoking habit, systemic diseases, surgery alone and surgery followed by steroids orally were associated with poor prognosis of Kimura's disease, and they might be prognostic markers of Kimura's disease.

This paper proposes a vessel active contour model based on local intensity weighting and a vessel vector field. Firstly, the energy function we define is evaluated along the evolving curve instead of all image points, and the function value at each point on the curve is based on the interior and exterior weighted means in a local neighborhood of the point, which is good for dealing with the intensity inhomogeneity. Secondly, a vascular vector field derived from a vesselness measure is employed to guide the contour to evolve along the vessel central skeleton into thin and weak vessels. Thirdly, an automatic initialization method that makes the model converge rapidly is developed, and it avoids repeated trails in conventional local region active contour models. Finally, a speed-up strategy is implemented by labeling the steadily evolved points, and it avoids the repeated computation of these points in the subsequent iterations. Experiments using synthetic and real vessel images validate the proposed model. Comparisons with the localized active contour model, local binary fitting model, and vascular active contour model show that the proposed model is more accurate, efficient, and suitable for extraction of the vessel tree from different medical images.

BACKGROUND: Catheter-associated urinary tract infection (CAUTI) is a common nosocomial device-associated infection. It is now recognized that the high infection rates were caused by the formation of biofilm on the surface of the catheters that decreases the susceptibility to antibiotics and results in anti-microbial resistance.In this study, we performed an in vitro test to explore the mechanism of biofilm formation and subsequently conducted a multi-center clinical trial to investigate the efficacy of CAUTI prevention with the application of JUC, a nanotechnology antimicrobial spray. METHODS: Siliconized latex urinary catheters were cut into fragments and sterilized by autoclaving. The sterilized sample fragments were randomly divided into the therapy and control group, whereby they were sprayed with JUC and distilled water respectively and dried before use.The experimental standard strains of Escherichia coli (E. coli) were isolated from the urine samples of patients. At 16 hours and 7 days of incubation, the samples were extracted for confocal laser scanning microscopy.A total of 1,150 patients were accrued in the clinical study. Patients were randomized according to the order of surgical treatment. The odd array of patients was assigned as the therapy group (JUC), and the even array of patients was assigned as the control group (normal saline). RESULTS: After 16 hours of culture, bacterial biofilm formed on the surface of sample fragments from the control group. In the therapy group, no bacterial biofilm formation was observed on the sample fragments. No significant increase in bacterial colony count was observed in the therapy group after 7 days of incubation.On the 7th day of catheterization, urine samples were collected for bacterial culture before extubation. Significant difference was observed in the incidence of bacteriuria between the therapy group and control group (4.52% vs. 13.04%, p < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS: In this study, the effectiveness of JUC in preventing CAUTI in a hospital setting was demonstrated in both in vitro and clinical studies.

RESUMEN

We propose a novel metal artifact reduction method based on a fractional-order curvature driven diffusion model for X-ray computed tomography. Our method treats projection data with metal regions as a damaged image and uses the fractional-order curvature-driven diffusion model to recover the lost information caused by the metal region. The numerical scheme for our method is also analyzed. We use the peak signal-to-noise ratio as a reference measure. The simulation results demonstrate that our method achieves better performance than existing projection interpolation methods, including linear interpolation and total variation.
