RESUMEN

Despite advances in our understanding of the molecular landscape of prostate cancer and the development of novel biomarker-driven therapies, the prognosis of patients with metastatic prostate cancer that is resistant to conventional hormonal therapy remains poor. Data suggest that a significant proportion of patients with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) have mutations in homologous recombination repair (HRR) genes and may benefit from poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) inhibitors. However, the adoption of HRR gene mutation testing in prostate cancer remains low, meaning there is a missed opportunity to identify patients who may benefit from targeted therapy with PARP inhibition, with or without novel hormonal agents. Here, we review the current knowledge regarding the clinical significance of HRR gene mutations in prostate cancer and discuss the efficacy of PARP inhibition in patients with mCRPC. This comprehensive overview aims to increase the clinical implementation of HRR gene mutation testing and inform future efforts in personalized treatment of prostate cancer.

OBJECTIVE: To explore the effects of a multidisciplinary team (MDT) continuous care model on psychological behavior and quality of life in children with ß-thalassemia major (ß-TM). METHODS: A retrospective study was conducted on 90 children with ß-TM who were hospitalized in the Department of Pediatrics, Affiliated Hospital of Youjiang Medical University for Nationalities from October 2021 to May 2022. According to nursing methods, the children were divided into a routine group and an experimental group, with 45 cases in each group. The routine group was intervened with routine nursing approaches, and the experimental group was intervened with the MDT continuous nursing mode on the basis of the control group. The psychological behavior [Positive and Negative Affect Scale for Children (PANAS-C)], quality of life (QoL) [Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory TM (PedsQLTM)] and satisfaction were compared between the two groups before and 6 months after intervention. The hemoglobin level and ferritin level of children after 3 months and 6 months of intervention were measured. The occurrence of complications and nursing satisfaction were recorded. The prognostic factors were further analyzed. RESULTS: After the intervention, the positive emotion score, QoL score, hemoglobin level, satisfaction score in the experimental group were all higher than those in the conventional group, and the negative emotion score and ferritin level in the experimental group were all lower than those in the conventional group (all P < 0.05). The results of Cox analysis showed that the use of iron-removing drugs and arrhythmia/heart rate failure were risk factors affecting the prognosis of children with ß-TM, while the MDT continuous nursing mode was a protective factor (all P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: The MDT continuous care model can effectively promote mental health in children with ß-TM, improve their quality of life, medical satisfaction, ameliorate the degree of anemia in children, reduce the incidence of complications and improve the prognosis; thus, it is worthy of wide clinical application.

PURPOSE: To explore a novel biopsy scheme for prostate cancer (PCa), and test the detection rate and pathological agreement of standard systematic (SB) + targeted (TB) biopsy and novel biopsy scheme. METHODS: Positive needles were collected from 194 patients who underwent SB + TB (STB) followed by radical prostatectomy (RP). Our novel biopsy scheme, targeted and regional systematic biopsy (TrSB) was defined as TB + regional SB (4 SB-needles closest to the TB-needles). The McNemar test was utilized to compare the detection rate performance for clinical significant PCa (csPCa) and clinical insignificant PCa (ciPCa). Moreover, the accuracy, positive predictive value (PPV) and negative predictive value (NPV) were investigated. The agreement between the different biopsy schemes grade group (GG) and RP GG were assessed. The concordance between the biopsy and the RP GG was evaluated using weighted κ coefficient analyses. RESULTS: In this study, the overall detection rate for csPCa was 83.5% (162 of 194) when SB and TB were combined. TrSB showed better NPV than TB (97.0% vs. 74.4%). Comparing to STB, the TB-detection rate of csPCa had a significant difference (p < 0.01), while TrSB showed no significant difference (p > 0.999). For ciPCa, the overall detection rate was 16.5% (32 of 194). TrSB showed better PPV (96.6% vs. 83.3%) and NPV (97.6% vs. 92.9%) than TB. Comparing to STB, the detection rate of both schemes showed no significant difference (p = 0.077 and p = 0.375). All three schemes GG showed poor agreement with RP GG (TB: 43.3%, TrSB: 46.4%, STB: 45.9%). Using weighted κ, all three schemes showed no difference (TB: 0.48, TrSB: 0.51, STB: 0.51). In our subgroup analysis (PI-RADS = 4/5, n = 154), all three schemes almost showed no difference (Weighted κ: TB-0.50, TrSB-0.51, STB-0.50). CONCLUSION: Our novel biopsy scheme TrSB (TB + 4 closest SB needles) may reduce 8 cores of biopsy compared with STB (standard SB + TB), which also showed better csPCa detection rate than TB only, but the same as STB. The pathological agreement between three different biopsy schemes (TB/TrSB/STB) GG and RP GG showed no difference.

Transition metal oxides have been acknowledged for their exceptional water splitting capabilities in alkaline electrolytes, however, their catalytic activity is limited by low conductivity. The introduction of sulfur (S) into nickel molybdate (NiMoO4) at room temperature leads to the formation of sulfur-doped NiMoO4 (S-NiMoO4), thereby significantly enhancing the conductivity and facilitating electron transfer in NiMoO4. Furthermore, the introduction of S effectively modulates the electron density state of NiMoO4 and facilitates the formation of highly active catalytic sites characterized by a significantly reduced hydrogen absorption Gibbs free energy (ΔGH*) value of -0.09 eV. The electrocatalyst S-NiMoO4 exhibits remarkable catalytic performance in promoting the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), displaying a significantly reduced overpotential of 84 mV at a current density of 10 mA cm-2 and maintaining excellent durability at 68 mA cm-2 for 10 h (h). Furthermore, by utilizing the anodic sulfide oxidation reaction (SOR) instead of the sluggish oxygen evolution reaction (OER), the assembled electrolyzer employing S-NiMoO4 as both the cathode and anode need merely 0.8 V to achieve 105 mA cm-2, while simultaneously producing hydrogen gas (H2) and S monomer. This work paves the way for improving electron transfer and activating active sites of metal oxides, thereby enhancing their HER activity.

INTRODUCTION: To present the surgical technique and clinical outcomes of modified ileal conduit for pelvic lipomatosis (PL). METHODS: From 2020 to 2022, we prospectively enrolled 9 patients with PL undergoing modified ileal conduit. The patient characteristics, perioperative variables, and follow-up outcomes as well as the description of surgical technique were reported. RESULTS: All 9 patients successfully completed the operation. Two patients had perioperative complications of Clavien-Dindo grade I. The mean operation time and bleeding volumes were 253±51.4 min and 238.9±196.9 ml, with a mean postoperative follow-up time of 13.0±5.6 months. The postoperative 3-month and 1-year creatinine values were significantly decreased versus the preoperative (P=0.006 and P=0.024). The postoperative 3-month and 1-year eGFR values were significantly increased comapred with those before operation (P=0.0002 and P=0.018). The separation value of left renal pelvis collection system after operation were significantly reduced compared with preoperative evaluation (P=0.023 at 3 month and P=0.042 at 1 year) and so was the right side (P=0.019 and P=0.023). CONCLUSION: Modified ileal conduit is safe and feasible for PL. A large sample cohort with long-term follow-up is needed to evaluate the clinical outcomes of PL.

Purpose: To develop deep-learning radiomics model for predicting biochemical recurrence (BCR) of advanced prostate cancer (PCa) based on pretreatment apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) maps. Methods: Data were collected retrospectively from 131 patients diagnosed with advanced PCa, randomly divided into training (n = 93) and test (n = 38) datasets. Pre-treatment ADC images were segmented using a pre-trained artificial intelligence (AI) model to identify suspicious PCa areas. Three models were constructed, including a clinical model, a conventional radiomics model and a deep-radiomics model. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC), precision-recall (PR) curve and decision curve analysis (DCA) were used to assess predictive performance in test dataset. The net reclassification index (NRI) and integrated discrimination improvement (IDI) were employed to compare the performance enhancement of the deep-radiomics model in relation to the other two models. Results: The deep-radiomics model exhibited a significantly higher area under the curve (AUC) of ROC than the other two (P = 0.033, 0.026), as well as PR curve (AUC difference 0.420, 0.432). The DCA curve demonstrated superior performance for the deep-radiomics model across all risk thresholds than the other two. Taking the clinical model as reference, the NRI and IDI was 0.508 and 0.679 for the deep-radiomics model with significant difference. Compared with the conventional radiomics model, the NRI and IDI was 0.149 and 0.164 for the deep-radiomics model without significant difference. Conclusion: The deep-radiomics model exhibits promising potential in predicting BCR in advanced PCa, compared to both the clinical model and the conventional radiomics model.

Biochar amendment for landfill soil cover has the potential to enhance methane removal efficiency while minimizing the soil depth. However, there is a lack of information on the response of biochar-mediated soil cover to the changes in configuration and operational parameters during the methane transport and transformation processes. This study constructed three biochar-amended landfill soil covers, with reduced soil depths from 75 cm (C2) to 55 cm (C3) and 45 cm (C4), and the control group (C1) with 75 cm and no biochar. Two operation phases were conducted under two soil moisture contents and three inlet methane fluxes in each phase. The methane removal efficiency increased for all columns along with the increase in methane flux. However, increasing moisture content from 10% to 20% negatively influenced the methane removal efficiency due to mass transfer limitation when at a low inlet methane flux, especially for C1; while this adverse effect could be alleviated by a high flux. Except for the condition with low moisture content and flux combination, C3 showed comparable methane removal efficiency to C2, both dominating over C1. As for C4 with only 45 cm, a high moisture content combined with a high methane flux enabled its methane removal efficiency to be competitive with other soil depths. In addition to the geotechnical reasons for gas transport processes, the evolution in methanotroph community structure (mainly type I methanotrophs) induced by biochar amendment and variations in soil properties supplemented the biological reasons for the varying methane removal efficiencies.

OBJECTIVES: To explore the relationship between Fuhrman grade of renal cell carcinoma (RCC) and the DDD score. METHODS: We reviewed the records of 527 nonmetastatic RCC patients. Demographic, clinical, and pathologic characteristics were reviewed. Binary logistic regression was used to explore the independent risk factors for high-grade RCC (HGRCC). RESULTS: Sex, BMI (Body Mass Index), RNS, and DDD score were significantly correlated with HGRCC. Based on these independent risk factors, we constructed two predictive models integrating the RNS and DDD scores with sex and BMI to predict tumor grade. The calibration curves of the predictive model showed good agreement between the observations and predictions. The concordance indexes (C-indexes) of the predictive models were 0.768 (95% CI, 0.713-0.824), and 0.809 (95% CI, 0.759-0.859). Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were performed to compare the predictive power of the nomograms, and the prediction model including the DDD score had better prognostic ability (p = 0.01). CONCLUSIONS: This study found that RNS, DDD score, BMI, and sex were independent predictors of HGRCC. We developed effective nomograms integrating the above risk factors to predict HGRCC. Of note, the nomogram including the DDD score achieves better prediction ability for HGRCC.

Manipulating the methanotroph (MOB) composition and microbial diversity is a promising strategy to optimize the methane (CH4) biofiltration efficiency of an engineered landfill cover soil (LCS) system. Inoculating soil with exogenous MOB-rich bacteria and amending soil with biochar show strong manipulating potential, but how the two stimuli interactively shape the microbial community structure and diversity has not been clarified. Therefore, three types of soils with active CH4 activities, including paddy soil, river wetland soil, and LCS were selected for enriching MOB-dominated communities (abbreviated as B_PS, B_RWS, and B_LCS, respectively). They were then inoculated to LCS which was amended with two distinct biochar. Besides the aerobic CH4 oxidation efficiencies, the evolution of the three microbial communities during the MOB enrichment processes and their colonization in two-biochar amended LCS were obtained. During the MOB enriching, a lag phase in CH4 consumption was observed merely for B_LCS. Type II MOB Methylocystis was the primary MOB for both B_PS and B_LCS; while type I MOB dominated for B_RWS and the major species were altered by gas concentrations. Compared to biochar, a more critical role was demonstrated for the bacteria inoculation in determining the community diversity and function of LCS. Instead, biochar modified the community structures by mainly stimulating the dominant MOB but could induce stochastic processes in community assembly, possibly related to its inorganic nutrients. Particularly, combined with biochar advantages, the paddy soil-derived bacteria consortiums with diverse MOB species demonstrated the potent adaption to LCS niches, not only retaining the high CH4-oxidizing capacities but also shaping a community structure with more diverse soil function. The results provided new insights into the optimization of an engineered CH4-mitigation soil system by manipulating the soil microbiomes with the cooperation of exogenous bacteria and biochar.

The widely available crop oil is an effective alternative to the increasingly scarce marine fish oil. However, simple alternative strategies have led to declining growth and the edible value of farmed fish. It is worthwhile to explore the effects of micro supplements in diets to improve the tolerance of fish to different dietary lipid sources, which finally optimizes the feeding strategies. This study aimed to investigate the regulation of L-carnitine and dietary oil conditions on nutrient composition, lipid metabolism, and glucose regulation of Rhynchocypris lagowskii. Four diets were prepared according to fish oil, fish oil supplemented with L-carnitine, corn oil, and corn oil supplemented with L-carnitine, and FO, LCFO, CO, and LCCO were labeled, respectively. R. lagowskii was fed experimental diets for 8 weeks, and the glucose tolerance test was performed. The CO diet significantly resulted in higher crude lipid content in muscle but a lower level of serum lipid parameters of R. lagowskii than the FO diet. However, dietary L-carnitine supplementation significantly reduced the crude lipid content in the hepatopancreas and muscle of the fish fed with the CO diet yet increased the serum lipid parameters. Additionally, the crude lipid content of muscle was reduced in the fish fed with an FO diet supplemented with L-carnitine. Compared with the FO diet, the CO diet significantly reduced the ratio of n3/n6 polyunsaturated fatty acid in the hepatopancreas and muscle of R.lagowskii. Dietary L-carnitine supplementation significantly reduced the contents of total saturated fatty acids and total monounsaturated fatty acids in hepatopancreas under both dietary lipid sources. The CO diet significantly up-regulated the expression of genes related to lipid uptake and adipogenesis in hepatopancreas, including lipoprotein lipase (lpl), acetyl-coenzyme A carboxylase alpha (accα), and sterol regulatory element binding protein-1 (srebp1), compared with the FO diet. While dietary L-carnitine supplementation significantly down-regulated the expressions of lpl, accα, srebp1, and fatty acid synthase in hepatopancreas and muscle of fish under both dietary lipid sources, along with up-regulated expression of carnitine palmitoyltransferase 1 in hepatopancreas. Moreover, the fish fed with a CO diet significantly increased the expression of glucose uptake and clearance and significantly down-regulated the expressions of glucose regulation-related genes, including glucose transporter 1, glycogen synthase 1, and phosphofructokinase in hepatopancreas and muscle, resulting in slower glucose uptake and clearance than fish fed with FO diet. Nevertheless, dietary L-carnitine supplementation up-regulated the expression of gluconeogenesis-related genes, including glucose-6-phosphatase and phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase in the hepatopancreas of R. lagowskii under both dietary lipid sources. In conclusion, a higher dietary n6 PUFA resulted in lipid deposition, decreased serum lipid parameters, and limited serum glucose utilization of R. lagowskii. While the regulatory effect of L-carnitine on lipid metabolism and glucose utilization of R. lagowskii varies with dietary lipid sources and tissues.

Mutations in the BRCA2 tumor suppressor gene have been associated with an increased risk of developing prostate cancer. One of the paradoxes concerning BRCA2 is the fact that its inactivation affects genetic stability and is deleterious for cellular and organismal survival, while BRCA2-mutated cancer cells adapt to this detriment and malignantly proliferate. Therapeutic strategies for tumors arising from BRCA2 mutations may be discovered by understanding these adaptive mechanisms. In this study, we conducted forward genetic synthetic viability screenings in Caenorhabditis elegans brc-2 (Cebrc-2) mutants and found that Ceubxn-2 inactivation rescued the viability of Cebrc-2 mutants. Moreover, loss of NSFL1C, the mammalian ortholog of CeUBXN-2, suppressed the spindle assembly checkpoint (SAC) activation and promoted the survival of BRCA2-deficient cells. Mechanistically, NSFL1C recruited USP9X to inhibit the polyubiquitination of AURKB and reduce the removal of AURKB from the centromeres by VCP, which is essential for SAC activation. SAC inactivation is common in BRCA2-deficient prostate cancer patients, but PP2A inhibitors could reactivate the SAC and achieve BRCA2-deficient prostate tumor synthetic lethality. Our research reveals the survival adaptation mechanism of BRCA2-deficient prostate tumor cells and provides different angles for exploring synthetic lethal inhibitors in addition to targeting DNA damage repair pathways.

Background: Pelvic lipomatosis (PL) is a rare condition that is characterized by excessive growth of fat in the pelvic cavity. Studies have yet to systematically review surgical treatments for PL. Objectives: To provide a reference for selecting reasonable surgical treatments for PL patients according to previous literature on the surgical treatment of PL. Design and methods: We conducted this systematic review in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for a Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) of Individual Participant Data guidelines. Literature on PL published from 1968 to 2022 was retrieved from the PubMed and EMBASE databases. Data were collected and analyzed independently by two independent investigators. Results: A total of 42 studies, involving 231 patients with PL, were included in the analysis. The surgical treatments included transurethral resection (TUR) (48.5%), ureteral stent placement (11.7%), percutaneous nephrostomy (1.3%), ureterocutaneostomy (1.3%), ureteral reimplantation (10.4%), ileal conduit (13%), and allograft kidney transplantation (0.4%). After excluding patients with unclear prognoses, 42.9% of patients showed improvement in lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) after TUR. Ureteral stent placement provided relief of hydronephrosis in 62.5% of PL patients. Percutaneous nephrostomy resulted in stable renal function in 33.3% of PL patients, while ureterocutaneostomy led to remission of postoperative hydronephrosis in 33.3% of PL patients. After ureteral reimplantation, 70.8% of patients experienced relief of hydronephrosis or had stable renal function. Ileal conduit led to remission of hydronephrosis, alleviation of symptoms, or maintenance of stable renal function in 83.3% of PL patients. One patient with PL had stable renal function after allograft renal transplantation. Conclusion: The surgical treatments for PL include TUR, ureteral stent placement, urinary diversion, and allograft renal transplantation. However, the choice of surgical method should be determined after comprehensive consideration of the patient's condition.

PURPOSE: Urinary incontinence is a common complication following robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP). Few studies have explored the relationships and differences between stress urinary incontinence (SUI) and urgent urinary incontinence (UUI) after RARP. This study aimed to investigate the occurrence rates and risk factors of UUI and SUI in short term after RARP. METHODS: We prospectively included prostate cancer patients who underwent RARP by a single surgeon. Demographics, lower urinary tract function, oncology, and follow-ups were recorded. Occurrence rates and risk factors of UUI and SUI within 3 months after catheter withdrawal were calculated. RESULTS: The study cohort included 363 subjects with a mean age of 66.05 years. The median preoperative International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS) was 14 (range 0-35), and the median Overactive Bladder Symptom Score (OABSS) was 3 (range 0-14). The occurrence rate of UUI and SUI at 3 months after catheter withdrawal was 8.5% (31/363) and 15.2% (55/363). Nearly all patients with UUI also had SUI. Diabetes history and high OABSS before RARP were independent risk factors for UUI, especially within 1 month after catheter withdrawal. The Gleason Score was an independent risk factor for SUI at 3 months after catheter withdrawal. Additionally, UUI but not SUI might be an influencing factor for decision-making regarding postoperative radiotherapy. CONCLUSION: The occurrence rate of SUI after RARP was persistently higher than that of UUI. Nearly all of the patients with UUI simultaneously had SUI. The risk factors of UUI and SUI after RARP were absolutely different.

The ability of biochar to enhance the oxidation of methane (CH4) in landfill cover soil by promoting the growth and activity of methane-oxidizing bacteria (MOB) has attracted significant attention. However, the optimal characteristics of digestate-derived biochar (DBC) for promoting the MOB community and CH4 removal performance remain unclear. This study examined how the CH4 oxidation capacity and respiratory metabolism of MOB life process are affected by the application of DBC compared with the most commonly used woody-derived biochar (WBC). The addition of both WBC and DBC enhanced CH4 oxidation, with DBC exhibiting a nearly twofold increase in cumulative CH4 oxidation mass (7.14 mg CH4 g-1) compared to WBC. The high ion-exchange capacity of DBC was found to be more favorable for the growth of Type I MOB, which have more efficient metabolic pathways for CH4 oxidation. Type I MOB which are abundant in DBC may prefer monovalent positive ions, while the charge-rich nature of DBC may also have hindered extracellular protein aggregation. The superiority of DBC in terms of CH4 oxidation thus highlights the underlying mechanisms of biochar-MOB interactions, offering potential biochar options for landfill cover soil.

This study aimed to investigate the effect of Bacillus aryabhattai (LSG3-7) and Bacillus mojavensis (LSG3-8) on growth performance, antioxidant capacity, and immune response in Rhynchocypris lagowskii (Dybowski, 1869), at the trial and challenge periods. A 630 healthy fish (10.76 ± 0.05) were randomly divided into six groups: control group (D1) was fed the basal diet, D2 and D3 were supplemented with LSG 3-7 and LSG3-8 (1 × 108 CFU/g) for both of them, whereas D4 was supplemented with a mixture of both bacteria (0.5 × 108 CFU/g each), and D5 was supplemented with LSG3-7 0.75 × 108 CFU/g + LSG3-8 0.25 × 108 CFU/g, and D6 supplemented with LSG3-7 0.25 × 108 CFU/g + LSG3-8 0.75 × 108 CFU/g. After the trial, Aeromonas hydrophila was used in a challenge test for 14 days. Treatments showed significant differences (p < 0.05) in growth performance and antioxidant capacity (CAT, CuZn-SOD, GPX) in the liver and intestine compared to the control. The antioxidant-related genes CAT, CuZn-SOD, GPX, and Nrf2 in the liver and intestine showed upregulation compared with the control group. Serum IgM, LZM, C3, C4, and AKP showed a favorable superiority (p < 0.05) in treatments (D2 - D6) at the trial and challenge test compared to controls. In parallel, immune-related genes (IgM, NF-κB, TLR-1, TLR-2, and MyD88) showed an up-regulated level (p < 0.05) in treatments (D2 - D6) compared to the control. In addition, pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-1, TNF-α) showed a downregulated level in treatments (D2 - D6). After the challenge test, the immune-related genes in the liver and muscle showed an up-regulated level in treatments compared to the controls. The survival rate showed a significant increase (p < 0.05) in the treatment groups (D2 - D6) compared to the control. Overall, individuals and the bacterial mixture of B. aryabhattai and B. mojavensis could improve the growth performance, antioxidant capacity, immune capacity, and survival rate of R. lagowskii and prevent side effects of A. hydrophila. However, B. mojavensis showed a slight improvement compared to B. aryabhattai without a significant difference between them.

The recombination of photoinduced carriers in photocatalysts is considered one of the biggest barriers to the increase of photocatalytic efficiency. Piezoelectric photocatalysts open a new route to realize rapid carrier separation by mechanically distorting the lattice of piezoelectric nanocrystals to form a piezoelectric potential within the nanocrystals, generally requiring external force (e.g., ultrasonic radiation, mechanical stirring, and ball milling). In this study, a low-power UV pulsed laser (PL) (3 W, 355 nm) as a UV light source can trigger piezoelectric photocatalytic CO2 reduction of tetragonal BaTiO3 (BTO-T) in the absence of an applied force. The tremendous transient light pressure (5.7 × 107  Pa, 2.7 W) of 355 nm PL not only bends the energy band of BTO-T, thus allowing reactions that cannot theoretically occur to take place, but also induces a pulsed built-in electric field to determine an efficient photoinduced carrier separation. On that basis, the PL-triggered piezoelectric photocatalytic CO2 reduction realizes the highest reported performance, reaching a millimole level CO yield of 52.9 mmol g-1 h-1 and achieving efficient photocatalytic CO2 reduction in the continuous catalytic system. The method in this study is promising to contribute to the design of efficient piezoelectric photocatalytic reactions.

α-Al2O3 nanoparticles can enter a micro-arc oxidation coating and participate in the coating-formation process through chemical reaction or physical-mechanical combination in the electrolyte. The prepared coating has high strength, good toughness and excellent wear and corrosion resistance. In this paper, 0, 1, 3 and 5 g/L of α-Al2O3 nanoparticles were added to a Na2SiO3-Na(PO4)6 electrolyte to study the effect on the microstructure and properties of a Ti6Al4V alloy micro-arc oxidation coating. The thickness, microscopic morphology, phase composition, roughness, microhardness, friction and wear properties and corrosion resistance were characterized using a thickness meter, scanning electron microscope, X-ray diffractometer, laser confocal microscope, microhardness tester and electrochemical workstation. The results show that surface quality, thickness, microhardness, friction and wear properties and corrosion resistance of the Ti6Al4V alloy micro-arc oxidation coating were improved by adding α-Al2O3 nanoparticles to the electrolyte. The nanoparticles enter the coatings by physical embedding and chemical reaction. The coatings' phase composition mainly includes Rutile-TiO2, Anatase-TiO2, α-Al2O3, Al2TiO5 and amorphous phase SiO2. Due to the filling effect of α-Al2O3, the thickness and hardness of the micro-arc oxidation coating increase, and the surface micropore aperture size decreases. The roughness decreases with the increase of α-Al2O3 additive concentration, while the friction wear performance and corrosion resistance are improved.

Probiotics sourced from fish intestinal microbiota have a merit over other bacterial sources due to colonization ability and effective time. This study aimed to evaluate the bacilli isolated from the Rhynchocypris lagowskii intestines and their validity as a probiotic. Three isolates were selected (LSG 2-5, LSG 3-7, and LSG 3-8) and defined by morphological and 16S rRNA analysis as Bacillus velezensis, Bacillus aryabhattai, and Bacillus mojavensis, respectively. Results showed the strain tolerant abilities to gastrointestinal fluid, bile salt, pH, and temperature expotures. Additionally, all bacterial strains showed anti-pathogenic activity against at least four strains out of six tested pathogen strains (Staphylococcus aureus, Aeromonas hydrophila, Escherichia coli, Aeromonas veronii, Edwardsiella, and Aeromonas sobria). The bacterial strains also showed a high percentage of co-aggregation activity, more than 70%, with Aer. hydrophile, Staph. epidermidis, and Klebsiella aerogenes. At the same time, the results of competition, rejection, and substitution activity with Aer. hydrophila and Aer. veronii indicated the ability of the isolated strains to reduce the adhesion of pathogens to mucin. All strains showed safety properties, non-hemolytic, and sensitivity characteristics for most of tested antibiotics. In vivo test after injecting these strains into fish at various concentrations showed no side effects in the internal or external organs of fish compared to controls, proving that this is safe for these fish. Furthermore, the three strains produced lipase, amylase, and protease enzymes. The strains also showed bile salt hydrolase activity and biofilm formation, allowing them to tolerate stressful conditions. Conclusion: Based on these strains characteristics and features, they could be considered a promising candidate probiotic and can be used as an anti-pathogenic, especially in aquaculture.

Research was conducted on the growth performance and nutritional quality of Chinese mitten crabs (Eriocheir sinensis) during a 62-day growing period in a symbiotic coculture comprising rice and crab. Culture experiments were conducted in three rice fields of equal size (996 m2). On days 0 (July 15, D0), 15 (July 30, D15), 31 (August 15, D31), 46 (August 30, D46), and 62 (September 2, D62), tissue samples of 50 female E. sinensis were collected randomly from each rice field. The results showed that the serum growth hormone (GH) content and muscle ecdysone receptor (EcR) mRNA expression levels were higher in the D31 and D46 groups; the content of serum 20-hydroxyecdysone (20-HE) and the mRNA expression levels of retinoid X receptor (RXR), insulin-like growth factor 2 (IGF2), and chitinase (CHI) reached the maximum in the D31 group. Muscle crude protein content gradually increased; hepatopancreas crude protein and crude lipid content began to decrease after reaching the maximum value in the D0 and D15 groups, respectively; the contents of crude protein and crude lipid in the ovary significantly increased in the D46 and D62 groups (P < 0.05). The content of muscle essential amino acids (EAA) reached the maximum in the D46 group; the hepatopancreas EAA content began to decrease significantly in the D31 group (P < 0.05); and the EAA content of the ovary decreased significantly after reaching the maximum value in the D46 group (P < 0.05). The muscle contents of eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), docosapentaenoic acid (DPA), docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA), and n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (n-3PUFA) and the ratio of n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids/n-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids (n3/n6) decreased significantly in the D31 group (P < 0.05); the hepatopancreas contents of EPA, PUFA, n-3PUFA, and n-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids (n-6PUFA) and the ratio of n3/n6 began to decrease after reaching the maximum value in the D31 group, ethyl behenate (21:0), tetracosanoic acid (24:0), DPA, and DHA contents were detected for the first time in the D31 group; the ovary PUFA, n-3PUFA contents, and n3/n6 ratio of the D46 and D62 groups were significantly lower than those of the D31 group (P < 0.05). During the experimental conditions described here, female E. sinensis raised in rice fields reached rapid growth from August 15 to August 30. Additionally, the nutritional quality of the female E. sinensis edible tissues (muscle, hepatopancreas, and ovary) began to decline after August 15, when sufficient nutrients such as protein, lipid, EAA, and PUFA should be provided to the female E. sinensis.

Alkaline membrane water electrolysis is a promising production technology, and advanced electrocatalyst and membrane electrode design have always been the core technology. Herein, an ion-exchange method and an environmentally friendly in situ green phosphating strategy are successively employed to fabricate Ru-Ru2 P heterogeneous nanoparticles by using hydroxyapatite (HAP) as a phosphorus source, which is an exceptionally active electrocatalyst for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). Density functional theory calculation results reveal that strong electronic redistribution occurs at the heterointerface of Ru-Ru2 P, which modulates the electronic structure to achieve an optimized hydrogen adsorption strength. The obtained Ru-Ru2 P possesses excellent HER performance (24 mV at 10 mA cm-2 ) and robust stability (1000 mA cm-2 for 120 h) in alkaline media. Furthermore, an environmentally friendly membrane electrode with a sandwich structure is assembled by HAP nanowires as an alkaline membrane, Ru-Ru2 P as a cathodic catalyst, and NiFe-LDH as an anodic catalyst, respectively. The voltage of (-) Ru-Ru2 P || NiFe-LDH/CNTs (+) (1.53 V at 10 mA cm-2 ) is lower than that of (-) 20 wt% Pt/C || RuO2 (+) (1.60 V at 10 mA cm-2 ) for overall water splitting. Overall, the studies not only design an efficient catalyst but also provide a new route to achieve a high-stability electrolyzer for industrial H2 production.
