RESUMEN

A two-layer quarter-quarter antireflection coating with a homogeneous mixture of ZnS and MgF(2) as the inner layer and MgF(2) as the outer layer was fabricated. Its transmittance was measured and found to be comparable with that of a less stable CeF(3)-MgF(2) coating. Measured peak transmittance values agree well with theoretical values.

RESUMEN

Double-layer quarter-half AR coatings effective at two wavelengths simultaneously in the visible region have been fabricated by depositing a homogeneous ZnS-MgF(2) mixture as the inner layer and MgF(2) as the outer layer. The results obtained agree well with those predicted theoretically.

RESUMEN

Diffraction images of a general periodic rectangular wave object formed by a polarizing microscope with crossed polarizers have been investigated. Expressions for the intensity distribution in the images have been obtained. Results have been presented for the intensity distribution and contrast in the diffraction images of the system. A close similarity has been shown between the rectangular wave response corresponding to a particular bar width and the sine wave response.

RESUMEN

Imagery of a general periodic triangular wave object formed by an aberration-free narrow rectangular aperture (slit) with tapered illumination, has been investigated. The system is assumed to be operating in incoherent light. Results have been presented for the far field intensity distribution in the diffraction images and the general triangular wave response of the system. An object function which gives a wave response nearly similar to that of sine wave has been pointed out.
