RESUMEN

We demonstrate a method for the realization of highly nonlinear optical 4-(4-dimethylaminostyryl)- 1-methylpyridinium tosylate (DAST) two-dimensional structures by a double-step technique. The desired polymeric structures were first fabricated by using the multiple exposure of the two-beam interference technique, and the DAST nanoscrystals were then prepared inside the air-voids of these photoresist templates, resulting in nonlinear periodic structures. The nonlinear properties were characterized by optical and scanning microscopies, as well as by second-harmonic generation technique. This nonlinear modulation is very promising for the enhancement of nonlinear conversion rates, such as terahertz generation, by using the quasi-phase matching technique.

RESUMEN

Cuboid-shaped organic microcavities containing a pyrromethene laser dye and supported upon a photonic crystal have been investigated as an approach to reducing the lasing threshold of the cavities. Multiphoton lithography facilitated fabrication of the cuboid cavities directly on the substrate or on the decoupling structure, while similar structures were fabricated on the substrate by UV lithography for comparison. Significant reduction of the lasing threshold by a factor of ~30 has been observed for cavities supported by the photonic crystal relative to those fabricated on the substrate. The lasing mode spectra of the cuboid microresonators provide strong evidence showing that the lasing modes are localized in the horizontal plane, with the shape of an inscribed diamond.

RESUMEN

The mol-ecule of the title compound, C15H18N4, adopts a trans conformation with respect to the diazo N=N bond. The dihedral angle between the benzene and pyridine rings in the mol-ecule is 8.03 (5)°. In the crystal, a weak C-H⋯π inter-action arranges the mol-ecules into a corrugated ribbon, with an anti-parallel orientation of neighboring mol-ecules propagating in the [100] direction.
