[Experience with open reduction of congenital hip dislocation by the Ludloff method]. / Opyt otkrytogo vpravleniia vrozhdennogo vyvikha bedra po Ludlofu.

The authors have performed simple open reduction of congenital dislocation of the hip after Ludloff in 54 children aged 3 months to 3 years. The total number of the operated joints was 79. The authors believe that this method provides favourable development of the acetabulum in the children operated before 1-2 years of age with the initial acetabular index below 30-40 degrees. In the children aged 2-3 years it should be regarded as one of the stages in the treatment of congenital dislocation of the hip.

Clinical and roentgenological manifestations of ruptures of connections of the pelvis bones in 231 patients are characterized. Thirty of them (13%) had isolated ruptures, 201 (87%) had ruptures associated with fractures of the pelvis bones. Depending on the kind of the injuries all the patients were divided into groups according to the author's classification. Diagnosis of ruptures of connections of the pelvis bones, especially of the sacroiliac articulation, is often difficult since they are not always seen in roentgenograms. So, the leading role in their diagnosis is attached to clinical examinations.
