RESUMEN

The shaddock ped polysaccharide (SPP) was extracted by ultrasound-assisted enzyme method. Phosphorylated shaddock ped polysaccharides (P-SPP) and acetylated shaddock ped polysaccharides (Ac-SPP) were obtained by chemical modification of SPP. The characterization methods such as infrared spectroscopy and nuclear magnetism were employed to characterize the structures of the two derivatives. The antioxidant activity of SPP and its derivatives was investigated by measuring their DPPH radical scavenging capacity, hydroxyl radical ion scavenging capacity and superoxide anion scavenging capacity. In comparison, P-SPP showed better antioxidant activity. The results indicated that the antioxidant activity of the polysaccharides varied with different chemical modifications.

RESUMEN

Pueraria lobata polysaccharides (PLPs) were obtained by a hot water extraction method. Starting from the single factor experiment, the extraction was optimized by response surface methodology, and the following optimal extraction parameters were obtained: the extraction temperature was 84 °C, the liquid-solid ratio was 11 mL/g, the extraction time was 73 min, and the extraction rate of polysaccharides was 8.59%. The Sevag method was used to remove the protein soluble in water and H2O2 was used to remove the pigment; then PLPs were precipitated with three times of anhydrous ethanol, soluble salts and other small molecules were removed by dialysis, and finally refined PLPs were obtained by freeze-drying.

RESUMEN

Pueraria lobata polysaccharides (PLPs) were obtained by hot water extraction using Pueraria lobata as raw material. Structural analysis revealed that PLPs may have a repetitive backbone units of →4) -α-D-Glcp (1→4-α-D-Glcp (1→. Phosphorylated Pueraria lobata polysaccharides (P-PLPs), carboxymethylated Pueraria lobata polysaccharides (CM-PLPs) and acetylated Pueraria lobata polysaccharides (Ac-PLPs) were obtained by chemical modifications of PLPs, respectively. The physicochemical properties and antioxidant activities of these four Pueraria lobata polysaccharides were studied in comparison. In particular, the clearance rate of P-PLPs exceeded 80 %, and was expected to achieve the same effect as Vc . The results showed that the effects of different chemical modifications on the antioxidant activity of PLPs varied greatly.

RESUMEN

Tea polysaccharide is a kind of acid glycoprotein complex extracted from tea. Tea polysaccharide has a variety of biological activities, especially the hypoglycemic effect is outstanding. It is good for human health. Tea polysaccharides have been extensively studied over the past few decades. The advantages and disadvantages of water extraction, enzyme-assisted extraction, ultrasonic-assisted extraction, microwave-assisted extraction, and supercritical fluid extraction were described. At the same time, the structure and biological activity of tea polysaccharide were also summarized. The development of tea polysaccharide was prospected.

RESUMEN

While tremendous advancements in 2D materials anchoring Au nanoparticles have been made, it is an urgent challenge to explore a green and facile approach for obtaining small-size Au nanoparticles. The rise of 2D covalent organic framework (COF) presents more-promising candidates for constructing excellent sites for loading metal nanoparticles. In this study, a novel 2D heterogeneous hybrid nanomaterial (P6-Au-COF) based on COF and pillar[6]arene (P6) reduced Au nanoparticles (P6-Au) is prepared by a simple and green procedure. The Au nanoparticles with an average small diameter of 2-3 nm are homogeneously dispersed on the surface of the COF. The P6-Au-COF hybrid material shows highly catalytic performance for the reduction of nitrophenol isomers when compared with commercial Pd/C catalyst and other reported materials. The P6-Au-COF hybrid material exhibits durable recyclablility and stability during the catalytic reaction. Considering the outstanding merits of the heterogeneous 2D catalyst of P6-Au-COF as well as the simple and green preparation, this research might not only present enormous opportunities for stabilized, high-performance and sustainable catalysts, but be applied in other frontier study of sustainable functionalized nanocomposites and advanced materials.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND/PURPOSE: Pediculus capitis is the most common human ectoparasite. When it feeds on the blood through the scalp of its host, the anticoagulant in its saliva causes scalp inflammation and itching, and consequent scratching by the host causes further inflammation from bacterial infection. P. capitis infestation is currently a common parasitic dermatosis and a critical public health concern in underdeveloped countries. METHODS: Through naked eye inspection of P. capitis on or in the hair from 323 school children in Cambodia. RESULTS: A total of 143 children (44.3%) were found to have P. capitis infestation. Univariate analysis revealed that girls had a significantly higher infection rate than boys. Overall, young aged schoolchildren (10 yrs old ≤) showed significantly higher infection rate than old aged schoolchildren (>10 yrs old). Groups stratified by time revealed that schoolchildren studied at the afternoon classes than morning classes in Tuol Prum Muoy Primary School had a significantly higher risk in acquisition of P. capitis infestation. Multivariate analysis results indicated that relative to the boys, the girls were at a significantly higher risk of contracting P. capitis infection. When stratified by inspection time with the Tuol Prum Muoy Primary School morning classes as the reference, the Tuol Prum Muoy Primary School afternoon classes exhibited a significantly higher risk of P. capitis infection. CONCLUSION: Primary school children in Cambodia have a high P. capitis infection rate and thus require effective treatment and prevention measures to treat symptoms and lower the infection rate.
