RESUMEN

To improve the provision of psychotherapy, many countries have now established clinical practice guidelines for the treatment of specific disorders and mental health concerns. These guidelines have typically been based on evidence from meta-analyses of randomized clinical trials with minimal consideration of findings from qualitative research designs. This said, there has been growing interest in incorporating qualitative research in guideline development processes from both stakeholders and guideline development bodies. In this international collaboration, 19 qualitative psychotherapy researchers from 10 countries articulated the benefits of including qualitative findings within the guideline development process and generated recommendations for guideline developers. The underlying question of this report was "Why and how should qualitative research be used in efforts to develop guidance for psychotherapy practice?" The advantages of reviewing qualitative findings included the ability to identify treatment patterns at the level of in-session dynamics, cultural contexts, interpersonal relationships, and internal experiences, thereby creating guidance that is responsive to clients' needs in the moment-to-moment therapy process. Recommendations are offered at the systemic level (e.g., guideline formation processes, methods of education, research funding priorities). Also, methodological advice is offered for guideline developers when selecting to incorporate qualitative research in the implementation of an expanded guideline development process. RESUMEN

The Measurement of Psychological Mindedness: a validation study of the German version of the Balanced Index of Psychological Mindedness (BIPM) Objectives: The aim of the study is to examine central measurement properties of the translated Balanced Index of Psychological Mindedness (BIPM) within a sample of German native speakers. Methods: Factor structure, validity and reliability of the BIPM was examined using data from a community sample of 399 participants. Additionally, associations between BIPM and socio-demographic variables were tested. Results: BIPM revealed a two factor structure (Insight and Interest), comparable to the original scale. Psychological mindedness (PM) correlated negatively with alexithymia, but did not correlate with emotional or cognitive irritation. Insight, but not Interest, correlated positively with psychological flexibility. Conclusions: The German translation proved to be a reliable, valid and economical measure for PM.

RESUMEN

Validation of the German Version of the Psychological Mindedness Scale (PMS-D) Objectives: The Psychological Mindedness Scale (PMS) is one of the few established measures for psychological mindedness (PM). PM refers to a capacity and disposition to properly perceive inner processes - feelings, thoughts and conflicts. The aim of this study was the validation of the German translation of the PMS, which was conducted via TRAPDprocess. METHODS: Following a pre-study for adjusting the translation, the scale was presented to a sample generated by students (n = 157). We conducted a factor analysis and calculated the reliability of the scale and its four factors with Cronbach's α. Convergent validity was measured by calculating correlations with the Toronto-Alexithymia-Scale (TAS-20). RESULTS: Internal consistency and convergent validity of the scale translation proved to be good. Due to the relatively small sample we tested whether data quality was sufficient for factor analysis which was the case. The best solution was a four factor solution which reflected the main components from theoretical definitions of PM. CONCLUSIONS: The proposed translation is in our view convenient to be used in German language area.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: The aim of this paper is to examine the implications for healing in a contemporary Balkan post-war context, and to provide a bridge-building model of trauma transformation, reconciliation and recovery through academic reconstruction and cross-border dialogue. Post-war societies are marked by the effects of massive, large group traumatization, and if not properly dealt with, long-term rehabilitation and social recovery cannot be expected. Unprocessed cumulative trauma that has become deeply embedded in the collective memory of the Balkan peoples over centuries, "chosen trauma", its trans-generational transmission and periodical reactivations across the Balkan have often been addressed in recent literature, in ethno-psychology, psychoanalysis, psychiatry, sociology and anthropology. In order to deepen our understanding of the roots of collective (social) trauma and the specific traumatic experiences of different groups, and to offer different perspectives and information on how trauma can be dealt with, the "Trauma Trust Memory" multinational interdisciplinary research network is being established, and a groundbreaking workshop was held in May 2013 in Tuzla, Bosnia-Herzegovina. CONCLUSION: The Tuzla Workshop showed that the active participation of affected groups in adequate coping with the past is required for post-conflict reconstruction, trauma healing and peacebuilding in the long run.
