BACKGROUND: Several doubts remain regarding the optimal use of neoadjuvant imatinib in gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs), such as ideal treatment duration, patient selection, and long-term survival outcomes. This manuscript provides a comprehensive review on neoadjuvant imatinib treatment outcomes and facilitate evidence-based decision-making for the use of imatinib therapy in GISTs. METHODS: Four databases (PubMed, EMBASE, Scopus, and Cochrane Library) were searched from inception to September 9, 2023. Meta-analyses of proportions were performed for the outcomes of R0 resection, disease responses, and 1-year, 3-year, and 5-year overall survival (OS) as well as 1-year, 3-year, and 5-year disease free survival (DFS). Sensitivity analyses in the form of leave-one-out analyses, meta-regression, and subgroup analyses were performed for outcomes with substantial statistical heterogeneity. RESULTS: The search yielded 1254 articles, and 36 studies were included in our analysis. Meta-analysis of proportions revealed that 1-year, 3-year, and 5-year OS was 100%, 94%, and 88%, while 1-year, 3-year and 5-year DFS was 99%, 89%, and 79%, respectively. An R0 resection rate of 89% and a disease response rate of 67% was achieved after a mean duration of treatment of 8.41 ± 0.367 months. KIT exon 9 mutation was significantly associated with poorer 5-year DFS. CONCLUSION: This study quantified key outcomes for neoadjuvant imatinib in locally advanced and metastatic or recurrent GIST. Patients with gastric and rectal tumous stand to benefit from neoadjuvant imatinib with an optimal treatment duration of 8 months. Furthermore, the potential utility of mutational analysis in guiding treatment with neoadjuvant imatinib was demonstrated.

Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumors (IMTs), which involve the proliferation of fibroblastic-myofibroblastic cells mixed with inflammatory infiltrates, are exceedingly rare in the extremities. There are no reported IMTs involving the sciatic nerve. This type of involvement may cause entrapment of the sciatic nerve, whose symptoms may mimic lumbar disc herniation (LDH), especially when it occurs in patients with lumbar degenerative disc disease. We describe the case of a 40-year-old male with lumbar degenerative disc disease accompanied by IMT involving the sciatic nerve whose symptoms mimicked LDH and posed a diagnostic challenge. We showed the course of the disease as well as the systematic imaging manifestations of IMTs involving the sciatic nerve and discussed their therapeutic management.

BACKGROUND: Although chronic erosive gastritis (CEG) is common, its clinical characteristics have not been fully elucidated. The lack of consensus regarding its treatment has resulted in varied treatment regimens. AIM: To explore the clinical characteristics, treatment patterns, and short-term outcomes in CEG patients in China. METHODS: We recruited patients with chronic non-atrophic or mild-to-moderate atrophic gastritis with erosion based on endoscopy and pathology. Patients and treating physicians completed a questionnaire regarding history, endoscopic findings, and treatment plans as well as a follow-up questionnaire to investigate changes in symptoms after 4 wk of treatment. RESULTS: Three thousand five hundred sixty-three patients from 42 centers across 24 cities in China were included. Epigastric pain (68.0%), abdominal distension (62.6%), and postprandial fullness (47.5%) were the most common presenting symptoms. Gastritis was classified as chronic non-atrophic in 69.9% of patients. Among those with erosive lesions, 72.1% of patients had lesions in the antrum, 51.0% had multiple lesions, and 67.3% had superficial flat lesions. In patients with epigastric pain, the combination of a mucosal protective agent (MPA) and proton pump inhibitor was more effective. For those with postprandial fullness, acid regurgitation, early satiety, or nausea, a MPA appeared more promising. CONCLUSION: CEG is a multifactorial disease which is common in Asian patients and has non-specific symptoms. Gastroscopy may play a major role in its detection and diagnosis. Treatment should be individualized based on symptom profile.

Current synthetic grafts for ligament rupture repair often fail to integrate well with the surrounding biological tissue, leading to complications such as graft wear, fatigue, and subsequent re-rupture. To address this medical challenge, this study aims at advancing the development of a biological ligament through the integration of physiologically-inspired principles and tissue engineering strategies. In this study, interfacial polyelectrolyte complexation (IPC) spinning technique, along with a custom-designed collection system, to fabricate a hierarchical scaffold mimicking native ligament structure, is utilized. To emulate the bone-ligament interface and alleviate stress concentration, a hydroxyapatite (HAp) mineral gradient is strategically introduced near both ends of the scaffold to enhance interface integration and diminish the risk of avulsion rupture. Biomimetic viscoelasticity is successfully displayed to provide similar mechanical support to native ligamentous tissue under physiological conditions. By introducing the connective tissue growth factor (CTGF) and conducting mesenchymal stem cells transplantation, the regenerative potential of the synthetic ligament is significantly amplified. This pioneering study offers a multifaceted solution combining biomimetic materials, regenerative therapies, and advanced techniques to potentially transform ligament rupture treatment.

BACKGROUND: The association between frailty and psychiatric disorders has been reported in observational studies. However, it is unclear whether frailty facilitates the appearance of psychiatric disorders or vice versa. Therefore, we conducted a bidirectional Mendelian randomization (MR) study to evaluate the causality. METHODS: Independent genetic variants associated with frailty index (FI) and psychiatric disorders were obtained from large genome-wide association studies (GWAS). The inverse variance weighted method was utilized as the primary method to estimate causal effects, followed by various sensitivity analyses. Multivariable analyses were performed to further adjust for potential confounders. RESULTS: The present MR study revealed that genetically predicted FI was significantly and positively associated with the risk of major depressive disorder (MDD) (odds ratio [OR] 1.79, 95 % confidence interval [CI] 1.48-2.15, P = 1.06 × 10-9), anxiety disorder (OR 1.61, 95 % CI 1.19-2.18, P = 0.002) and neuroticism (OR 1.38, 95 % CI 1.18-1.61, P = 3.73 × 10-5). In the reverse MR test, genetic liability to MDD (beta 0.232, 95 % CI 0.189-0.274, P = 1.00 × 10-26) and neuroticism (beta 0.128, 95 % CI 0.081-0.175, P = 8.61 × 10-8) were significantly associated with higher FI. Multivariable analyses results supported the causal association between FI and MDD and neuroticism. LIMITATIONS: Restriction to European populations, and sample selection bias. CONCLUSIONS: Our study suggested a bidirectional causal association between frailty and MDD neuroticism, and a positive correlation of genetically predicted frailty on the risk of anxiety disorder. Developing a deeper understanding of these associations is essential to effectively manage frailty and optimize mental health in older adults.

This study aimed to assess the effectiveness and safety of robot-assisted versus fluoroscopy-assisted pedicle screw implantation in scoliosis surgery. The study was registered in the PROSPERO (CRD42023471837). Two independent researchers searched PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure. The outcomes included operation time, pedicle screw implantation time, blood loss, number of fluoroscopic, accuracy of pedicle screw position, hospital stays, postoperative hospital stays, Visual Analog Scale (VAS), Japanese Orthopaedic Association (JOA) score, Scoliosis Research Society-22(SRS-22), cobb angle, cobb angle correction rate, sagittal vertical axis (SVA), and complications. Eight papers involving 473 patients met all the criteria. There was no significant difference between the two groups regarding the reduction in operation time. The effect of reducing the pedicle screw implantation time in the RA group was significant (WMD = -1.28; 95% CI: -1.76 to -0.80; P < 0.00001). The effect of reducing the blood loss in the RA group was significant (WMD=-105.57; 95% CI: -206.84 to -4.31; P = 0.04). The effect of reducing the number of fluoroscopic in the RA group was significant (WMD=-5.93; 95% CI: -8.24 to -3.62; P < ). The pedicle screw position of Grade A was significantly more in the RA group according to both the Gertzbein-Robbins scale and the Rampersaud scale. Compared with the FA group, the difference in the hospital stays in the RA group was not statistically significant, but the effect of reducing the postoperative hospital stays in the RA group was significant (WMD = -2.88; 95% CI: -4.13 to -1.63; P < 0.00001). The difference in the VAS, JOA, SRS-22, Cobb angle and Cobb angle correction rate, SVA, and complications between the two groups was not statistically significant. The robot-assisted technique achieved statistically significant results in terms of pedicle screw placement time, blood loss, number of fluoroscopies, accuracy of pedicle screw position, and postoperative hospital stay.

Trilobolide-6-O-isobutyrate exhibits significant antitumor effects on cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) cells by effectively inhibiting the JAK/STAT3 signaling pathway. This study aims to investigate the mechanisms underlying the antitumor properties of trilobolide-6-O-isobutyrate, and to explore its potential as a therapeutic agent for CCA. This study illustrates that trilobolide-6-O-isobutyrate efficiently suppresses CCA cell proliferation in a dose- and time-dependent manner. Furthermore, trilobolide-6-O-isobutyrate stimulates the production of reactive oxygen species, leading to oxidative stress and initiation of apoptosis via the activation of the mitochondrial pathway. Data from xenograft tumor assays in nude mice confirms that TBB inhibits tumor growth, and that there are no obvious toxic effects or side effects in vivo. Mechanistically, trilobolide-6-O-isobutyrate exerts antitumor effects by inhibiting STAT3 transcriptional activation, reducing PCNA and Bcl-2 expression, and increasing P21 expression. These findings emphasizes the potential of trilobolide-6-O-isobutyrate as a promising therapeutic candidate for the treatment of CCA.

This editorial comments on an article published in a recent issue of World Journal of Gastroenterology, entitled "Association of low muscle strength with metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease: A nationwide study". We focused on the association between muscle strength and the incidence of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and metabolic-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD), as well as the mechanisms underlying the correlation and related clinical applications. NAFLD, which is now redefined as MAFLD, is one of the most common chronic liver diseases globally with an increasing prevalence and is characterized by malnutrition, which may contribute to decreased muscle strength. Reduction of muscle strength reportedly has a pathogenesis similar to that of NAFLD/ MAFLD, including insulin resistance, inflammation, sedentary behavior, as well as insufficient vitamin D. Multiple studies have focused on the relationship between sarcopenia or muscle strength and NAFLD. However, studies investigating the relationship between muscle strength and MAFLD are limited. Owing to the shortage of specific medications for NAFLD/MAFLD treatment, early detection is essential. Furthermore, the relationship between muscle strength and NAFLD/MAFLD suggests that improvements in muscle strength may have an impact on disease prevention and may provide novel insights into treatments including dietary therapy, as well as tailored physical activity.

Robot-assisted (RA) technology has been shown to be a safe aid in spine surgery, this meta-analysis aims to compare surgical parameters and clinical indexes between robot-assisted cortical bone trajectory (CBT) and fluoroscopy-assisted (FA) cortical bone trajectory in spinal surgery. We searched databases such as PubMed, Web of Science, the Cochrane Library, and the China National Knowledge Infrastructure. The study selection process was guided by the PICOS (Patient/Problem, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome, Study Design) strategy. The risk of bias in non-randomized comparative studies was assessed using the risk of bias in non-randomized studies of interventions (ROBINS-I) tool. We performed this meta-analysis using RevMan 5.3 software (Cochrane Collaboration, Copenhagen, Denmark), and the level of statistical significance was set at P < 0.05. Six articles involving 371 patients and 1535 screws were included in this meta-analysis. RA-CBT outperformed FA-CBT in terms of various parameters, such as accuracy of pedicle screw position (both Gertzbein-Robbins scale and Ding scale), avoidance of superior facet joint violation (FJV), and reduction of neurological injury. Our meta-analysis offered a thorough evaluation of the efficacy and safety of RA-CBT in spinal surgery. The findings revealed that RA-CBT produced statistically significant results in terms of pedicle screw position accuracy and superior facet joint violation prevention. In terms of surgical parameters and clinical indexes, future research and clinical practice should investigate the efficacy of RA-CBT further. The study was registered in the PROSPERO (CRD42023466280).

Objective: In this study, we investigated the effect and mechanism of action of eugenol on oxidized low-density lipoprotein (ox-LDL)-induced abnormal proliferation and migration of human vascular smooth muscle cells (HVSMCs). Methods: HVSMCs were treated with 100 ug/mL ox-LDL for 24 hours to establish a cell model. After 1-hour pretreatment, eugenol at concentrations of 5, 25, and 50 uM was added. Cell viability was assessed using an MTT assay, PCNA expression was detected using Western blot, cell cycle distribution was analyzed using flow cytometry, and cell migration ability was evaluated using wound healing and Transwell migration assays. To investigate the mechanisms, Ang II receptors were inhibited by 1000 nM valsartan, MFG-E8 was knocked down by shRNA, MCP-1 was inhibited by siRNA, and MFG-E8 was overexpressed using plasmids. Results: The findings from this study elucidated the stimulatory impact of ox-LDL on the proliferation and functionality of HVSMCs. Different concentrations of eugenol effectively mitigated the enhanced activity of HVSMCs induced by ox-LDL, with 50 uM eugenol exhibiting the most pronounced inhibitory effect. Flow cytometry and Western blot results showed ox-LDL reduced G1 phase cells and increased PCNA expression, while 50 uM eugenol inhibited ox-LDL-induced HVSMC proliferation. In wound healing and Transwell migration experiments, the ox-LDL group showed larger cell scratch filling and migration than the control group, both of which were inhibited by 50 uM eugenol. Inhibiting the Ang II/MFG-E8/MCP-1 signaling cascade mimicked eugenol's effects, while MFG-E8 overexpression reversed eugenol's inhibitory effect. Conclusion: Eugenol can inhibit the proliferation and migration of ox-LDL-induced HVSMCs by inhibiting Ang II/MFG-E8/MCP-1 signaling cascade, making it a potential therapeutic drug for atherosclerosis.

Light-absorbing organic aerosols, referred to as brown carbon (BrC), play a vital role in the global climate and air quality. Due to the complexity of BrC chromophores, the identified absorbing substances in the ambient atmosphere are very limited. However, without comprehensive knowledge of the complex absorbing compounds in BrC, our understanding of its sources, formation, and evolution mechanisms remains superficial, leading to great uncertainty in climatic and atmospheric models. To address this gap, we developed a constrained non-negative matrix factorization (NMF) model to resolve the individual ultraviolet-visible spectrum for each substance in dissolved organic aerosols, with the power of ultrahigh-performance liquid chromatography-diode array detector-ultrahigh-resolution mass spectrometry (UHPLC-DAD-UHRMS). The resolved spectra were validated by selected standard substances and validation samples. Approximately 40,000 light-absorbing substances were recognized at the MS1 level. It turns out that BrC is composed of a vast number of substances rather than a few prominent chromophores in the urban atmosphere. Previous understanding of the absorbing feature of BrC based on a few identified compounds could be biased. Weak-absorbing substances missed previously play an important role in BrC absorption when they are integrated due to their overwhelming number. This model brings the property exploration of complex dissolved organic mixtures to a molecular level, laying a foundation for identifying potentially significant compositions and obtaining a comprehensive chemical picture.

Few studies have assessed the clinical implications of the combination of different prognostic indicators for overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS) of resected hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). This study aimed to evaluate the prognostic factors in HCC patients for OS and DFS outcomes and establish a nomogram-based prognostic model to predict the DFS of HCC. A multicenter, retrospective European study was conducted through the collection of data on 413 consecutive treated patients with a first diagnosis of HCC between January 2010 and December 2020. Univariate and multivariate Cox regression analyses were performed to identify all independent risk factors for OS and DFS outcomes. A nomogram prognostic staging model was subsequently established for DFS and its precision was verified internally by the concordance index (C-Index) and externally by calibration curves. For OS, multivariate Cox regression analysis indicated Child-Pugh B7 score (HR 4.29; 95% CI 1.74-10.55; p = 0.002) as an independent prognostic factor, along with Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer (BCLC) stage ≥ B (HR 1.95; 95% CI 1.07-3.54; p = 0.029), microvascular invasion (MVI) (HR 2.54; 95% CI 1.38-4.67; p = 0.003), R1/R2 resection margin (HR 1.57; 95% CI 0.85-2.90; p = 0.015), and Clavien-Dindo Grade 3 or more (HR 2.73; 95% CI 1.44-5.18; p = 0.002). For DFS, multivariate Cox regression analysis indicated BCLC stage ≥ B (HR 2.15; 95% CI 1.34-3.44; p = 0.002) as an independent prognostic factor, along with multiple nodules (HR 2.04; 95% CI 1.25-3.32; p = 0.004), MVI (HR 1.81; 95% CI 1.19-2.75; p = 0.005), satellite nodules (HR 1.63; 95% CI 1.09-2.45; p = 0.018), and R1/R2 resection margin (HR 3.39; 95% CI 2.19-5.25; < 0.001). The C-Index of the nomogram, tailored based on the previous significant factors, showed good accuracy (0.70). Internal and external calibration curves for the probability of DFS rate showed optimal consistency and fit well between the nomogram-based prediction and actual observations. MVI and R1/R2 resection margins should be considered as significant OS and DFS predictors, while satellite nodules should be included as a significant DFS predictor. The nomogram-based prognostic model for DFS provides a more effective prognosis assessment for resected HCC patients, allowing for individualized treatment plans.

OBJECTIVES: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is highly prevalent worldwide and is a leading cause of cancer-related death. Probiotics, prebiotics, and synbiotics have recently attracted attention as preventive measures against colorectal neoplasms. We aimed to analyze the findings of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) on the effects of probiotics, prebiotics, and synbiotics in patients at a high risk of CRC, outlining the challenges and future prospects of using probiotics to prevent colorectal tumors and providing evidence for clinical physicians in particular. METHODS: PubMed, EMBASE, and the Cochrane Library databases were searched for relevant studies published up to January 7, 2022. RCTs conducted on populations with a high risk of CRC who received probiotics, prebiotics or synbiotics in comparison with placebo, candidate agent or no treatment were included. The primary outcome was the incidence or recurrence of any colorectal neoplasms. Additional outcomes included their effects on the diversity of gut microbiota and relevant inflammatory biomarkers. Safety outcomes were also analyzed. Two authors independently screened and selected studies based on pre-specified eligible criteria, performed data extraction and risk-of-bias assessment independently. RESULTS: Nine RCTs were included in the systematic review and meta-analysis. Probiotic supplementation significantly reduced adenoma incidence, but no significant benefit was observed in CRC incidence. Additionally, probiotics modulated gut microbiota and inflammatory biomarkers. CONCLUSION: Probiotics may have beneficial effects in the prevention of CRC. More RCTs with larger sample sizes are warranted to further confirm these findings.

OBJECTIVE: To assess the use of evidence-based research (EBR) approach in randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of acupuncture-related therapies for primary dysmenorrhea (PD). METHODS: PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang Database, Chinese Biomedical Database, and China Science and Technology Journal Database were searched from January 2013 to December 2022 for RCTs of acupuncture on PD. The full text and references of each RCT were read to assess whether systematic reviews (SRs) or other types of studies with similar research questions and end-users' perspectives were cited to justify and design the trial. In addition, the discussion section were analyzed to evaluate whether trials placed the new result in the existing SRs to draw a conclusion. Multivariable logistic regression was used to find variables that associated with 3 aspects of EBR approach: (1) citing clinical studies for justification, (2) citing relevant studies that obtain the perspectives of end users, and (3) citing clinical studies for results discussion. RESULTS: Of 473 RCTs included, 45.67% (216) of the trials cited relevant similar studies, 21.56% (102) referenced to the studies that collected end-users' perspectives, and 10.99% (52) placed result in the context of the previous research. Few RCTs appropriately applied EBR approach. Among all the included studies, 3.17% (15) of the trials used SRs to inform study questions but none of them used updated SRs with acceptable quality; 1.05% (5) of the trials cited SRs of end-user's perspectives in the justification and design of the study, and only 1 trial added results in existing SR to draw a conclusion. Year of publication, language, funding, registration, ethical approval and number of sites were significantly associated with 1 of the 3 aspects of EBR approach. CONCLUSIONS: Few RCTs in acupuncture-related therapies for PD used the EBR approach to minimize research redundancy. Researchers, research institutes, funding agencies, ethics committees, journals and peer reviewers in acupuncture should make efforts to use and promote the EBR approach to ensure the value of new trials.

Most patients with pancreatic cancer are already in the late stages of the disease when they are diagnosed, and pancreatic cancer is a deadly disease with a poor prognosis. With the advancement of research, immunotherapy has become a new focus in the treatment of tumors. To the best of our knowledge, there is currently no reliable diagnostic or prognostic marker for pancreatic cancer; therefore, the present study investigated the potential of eukaryotic translation initiation factor 2α kinase 2 (EIF2AK2) as a predictive and diagnostic marker for pancreatic cancer. Immunohistochemical staining of clinical samples independently verified that EIF2AK2 expression was significantly higher in clinically operated pancreatic cancer tissues than in adjacent pancreatic tissues., and EIF2AK2 expression and differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified using downloadable RNA sequencing data from The Cancer Genome Atlas and Genomic Tumor Expression Atlas. In addition, Gene Ontology/Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes analyses and immune cell infiltration were used for functional enrichment analysis of EIF2AK2-associated DEGs. The clinical importance of EIF2AK2 was also determined using Kaplan-Meier survival, Cox regression and time-dependent survival receiver operating characteristic curve analyses, and a predictive nomogram model was generated. Finally, the functional role of EIF2AK2 was assessed in PANC-1 cells using a short hairpin RNA-EIF2AK2 knockdown approach, including CCK-8, wound healing assay, cell cycle and apoptosis assays. The findings suggested that EIF2AK2 may have potential as a diagnostic and prognostic biomarker for patients with pancreatic cancer. Furthermore, EIF2AK2 may provide a new therapeutic target for patients with pancreatic cancer.

The nuclear receptor superfamily RAR is generally considered to play a crucial role in the development of tumors by regulating the transcription of target genes. Nevertheless, whether RARγ performs tumor-promoting or tumor-suppressing functions and its specific mechanism in thyroid carcinoma (TC) remain unknown. Here, our study demonstrated that RARγ was abnormally overexpressed in TC tissues compared with normal thyroid tissues. Moreover, RARγ expression was remarkably correlated with cell phenotypes such as cell proliferation, migration and invasion. Mechanistically, RARγ knockdown effectively decreased the phosphorylation levels of JAK1 and STAT3, leading to decreased expression of the membrane protein CD24. In a coculture system, TC cells with high levels of CD24 in the membrane were more likely to escape phagocytosis by macrophages via the combination of CD24 with the inhibitory receptor Siglec-10 in the membrane of macrophages. In contrast, the ability of macrophages to engulf TC cells was notably elevated through exogenous addition of CD24 antibody. Collectively, our study revealed a previously undiscovered molecular mechanism of RARγ in promoting the development of TC, shedding light on RARγ as a promising therapeutic target for TC.

OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to characterise the whole genome sequence of multidrug-resistant Streptococcus pluranimalium strain SP21-2 of swine origin in China. METHODS: Illumina Miseq (200X coverage) and Nanopore PromethION platform (100X coverage) were used for genome sequencing. Rapid Annotation using Subsystem Technology (RAST) was used to annotate the genome of SP21-2. The antimicrobial resistance genes (ARGs) were identified using ResFinder-4.1. RESULTS: The assembled circular genome of S. pluranimalium SP21-2 was 1,987,058 bp in length with a GC content of 39.54%, and no plasmid sequence was detected. A total of 2086 coding sequences were predicted by RAST. Oxazolidinone-phenicol resistance gene, optrA, and pleuromutilin-lincosamide-streptogramin A resistance gene, lsa(E), are both located on chromosomes, associated with IS1216 and ISS1S, respectively. In addition, SP21-2 harbours lnu(B) (lincosamide), ant (6)-Ia and aac(6')-aph(2") (aminoglycoside), erm(B) (macrolide), and tet(O) (tetracycline). CONCLUSION: We firstly report the oxazolidinone-phenicol gene, optrA, and pleuromutilin-lincosamide-streptogramin A resistance gene, lsa(E), in S. pluranimalium. In this strain, we firstly identified ISS1S and IS1216 carrying ARGs in S. pluranimalium, which will provide a valuable reference to understanding potential transfer mechanisms of ARGs in S. pluranimalium.

Redox-active polymers have garnered significant attention as promising materials for redox capacitors, which are energy-storage devices that rely on reversible redox reactions to store and deliver electrical energy. Our focus was on optimizing the electrochemical performance in the design and synthesis of redox-active polymer electrodes. In this study, a redox-active polymer was prepared through step-by-step synthesis on a gold electrode. To achieve this, we designed an automatic sequential polymerization equipment that minimizes human intervention and enables a stepwise polymerization reaction. The electrochemical properties of the polymer gold electrodes were investigated. The degree of polymerization of the polymer grown on the gold electrode can be controlled by adjusting the cycle of the sequential operation. As the number of cycles increases, the amount of accumulated charge increases proportionally, indicating the potential for enhanced electrochemical performance.
