RESUMEN

The use of warm-mix recycling technology can reduce the mixing temperature and the secondary aging of binders in reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP), which is one of the effective ways to recycle high-content RAP. In this study, the penetration, softening point, ductility, and viscosity were used to characterize the conventional physical properties of aged asphalt after regenerating, while a dynamic shear rheometer (DSR), force ductility tester (FDT), and atomic force microscope (AFM) were used to evaluate the rheological performance and micro-morphology of aged asphalt incorporating a new bio-based warm-mix rejuvenator (BWR) and a commercial warm-mix rejuvenator (ZJ-WR). The regeneration mechanism of warm-mix rejuvenators on aged asphalt was analyzed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The results show that the new bio-based warm-mix rejuvenator can restore the conventional physical properties, low-temperature performance, and micro-morphology of aged asphalt with an appropriate dosage, but it has a negative effect on high-temperature performance. In comparison with 2D area parameters, 3D roughness parameters were more accurate in evaluating the variation in micro-morphology of aged asphalt after regeneration. The FTIR analysis results indicate that both the new bio-based warm-mix rejuvenator and the commercial warm-mix rejuvenator regenerate aged asphalt by physical action, and AS=O and AC-H values are more reasonable than the AC=O value for the restoration evaluation of aged asphalt. And the new bio-based warm-mix rejuvenator has a better regeneration effect on the performance and micro-morphology of aged asphalt than the commercial warm-mix rejuvenator.

AIMS: Both hypercapnia and hypocapnia are common in patients with acute heart failure (AHF), but the association between partial pressure of arterial carbon dioxide (PaCO2) and AHF prognosis remains unclear. The objective of this study was to investigate the connection between PaCO2 within 24 h after admission to the intensive care unit (ICU) and mortality during hospitalization and at 1 year in AHF patients. METHODS AND RESULTS: AHF patients were enrolled from the Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care IV database. The patients were divided into three groups by PaCO2 values of <35, 35-45, and >45 mmHg. The primary outcome was to investigate the connection between PaCO2 and in-hospital mortality and 1 year mortality in AHF patients. The secondary outcome was to assess the prediction value of PaCO2 in predicting in-hospital mortality and 1 year mortality in AHF patients. A total of 2374 patients were included in this study, including 457 patients in the PaCO2 < 35 mmHg group, 1072 patients in the PaCO2 = 35-45 mmHg group, and 845 patients in the PaCO2 > 45 mmHg group. The in-hospital mortality was 19.5%, and the 1 year mortality was 23.9% in the PaCO2 < 35 mmHg group. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the PaCO2 < 35 mmHg group was associated with an increased risk of in-hospital mortality [hazard ratio (HR) 1.398, 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.039-1.882, P = 0.027] and 1 year mortality (HR 1.327, 95% CI 1.020-1.728, P = 0.035) than the PaCO2 = 35-45 mmHg group. The PaCO2 > 45 mmHg group was associated with an increased risk of in-hospital mortality (HR 1.387, 95% CI 1.050-1.832, P = 0.021); the 1 year mortality showed no significant difference (HR 1.286, 95% CI 0.995-1.662, P = 0.055) compared with the PaCO2 = 35-45 mmHg group. The Kaplan-Meier survival curves showed that the PaCO2 < 35 mmHg group had a significantly lower 1 year survival rate. The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve for predicting in-hospital mortality was 0.591 (95% CI 0.526-0.656), and the 1 year mortality was 0.566 (95% CI 0.505-0.627) in the PaCO2 < 35 mmHg group. CONCLUSIONS: In AHF patients, hypocapnia within 24 h after admission to the ICU was associated with increased in-hospital mortality and 1 year mortality. However, the increase in 1 year mortality may be influenced by hospitalization mortality. Hypercapnia was associated with increased in-hospital mortality.

The aim of this article is to explore the dynamic compaction characteristics of stone mastic asphalt (SMA) and the friction-lubrication effect of internal particles during the superpave gyratory compaction (SGC) process. Firstly, a calculated method for the compaction degree of an asphalt mixture in the gyratory compaction process was defined based on the multiphase granular volume method. Secondly, the gyratory compaction curves of asphalt mixtures were taken based on this calculation method of compaction degree. The dynamic change law of each compaction index (compaction, percentage of air voids, compaction energy index, etc.) during the compaction process was analysed. Finally, the effects of different initial compaction temperatures and different asphalt content on the friction-lubrication effect and compaction characteristics of asphalt mixtures were studied. Research shows that it is reasonable to define the compaction degree by the ratio of the apparent density of the asphalt mixture to the maximum theoretical density of the asphalt mixture during gyratory compaction. The dynamic prediction equations of the compaction degree K and the compaction energy index CEI with the amount of compaction were established, and could effectively predict the compaction degree, percentage of air voids and compaction energy index CEI. The compaction process of the asphalt mixture needed to go through three phases, including periods of rapid growth, slow growth, and stabilisation, and the compaction degree increased by about 10%, 5%, and 1%, in that order, finally tending towards a stable value. The effect of the initial compaction temperature on the forming compaction degree of the asphalt mixture is significant; therefore, it should be controlled strictly in the compaction construction of asphalt mixtures. When the initial compaction temperature of SMA-13 is about 170 °C, the compaction effect is optimal, and the effect of the increase in the amount of compaction at a later stage on the increase in the compaction degree of the asphalt mixture is very low. With the optimal asphalt content, the friction-lubrication effect between the asphalt and aggregate particles is optimal, because it can effectively form an asphalt film, reducing the frictional resistance of the particles moving each other during the compaction process, and the voids will be embedded and filled with each other, finally producing the best compaction result.

To solve the durability of flexible base asphalt pavement, especially its anti-rutting problem, a design method on durable asphalt pavement of flexible base on anti-rutting performance was put forward in the paper, based on many experiments and calculations. Firstly, a method that asphalt could be selected according to penetration and the anti-rutting factor of its base asphalt was found, which solved the problem of the asphalt selection of the flexible base asphalt mixture design. Meanwhile, a method of skeleton-density structure gradation design was proposed based on the fractal void ratio of coarse aggregate, fractal volume of fine aggregate in coarse aggregate, penetration, fractal dimension of gradation particle size, and rutting tests, which effectively solved in advance the rutting and fatigue performance of flexible base asphalt mixtures. Then, on the basis of the fatigue damage, a calculation method of fatigue life was suggested, which solved the problem that the fatigue damage of asphalt mixtures rarely considered the combined effects of creep damage and fatigue damage. In addition, a calculation method of rutting was formulated based on vehicle dynamic load and ANSYS 16.0 software. Lastly, the feasibility of the design method on durable asphalt pavement of flexible base on anti-rutting performance was verified combining with the real engineering of a supporting project and several numerical calculations and tests.

Electrolytic manganese residue (EMR) is a solid waste that contains a significant amount of soluble manganese and ammonia nitrogen, which can pose risks to human health if improperly disposed of. This study aimed to prepare cementitious materials containing abundant ettringite crystals by mixing EMR with various proportions of granulated blast furnace slag (GBFS) and alkaline activators (CaO, Ca(OH)2, clinker, NaOH). The resulting cementitious material not only utilized a substantial amount of EMR but also exhibited comparable strength to ordinary Portland cement. The optimal ratios were determined through mechanical testing. Additionally, the leaching toxicity of cementitious materials was assessed using ICP-MS (inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer) tests. The microscopic properties, hydration, and mechanism of heavy metal solidification in the cementitious materials were evaluated using XRD (X-ray diffraction), SEM (scanning electron microscope), EDS (energy-dispersive spectrometer), FTIR (Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy), and TG (thermogravimetric) techniques. The results showed that the optimal ratio for the cementitious materials was 60% EMR, 36% GBFS, and 4% Ca(OH)2. The hardened mortar exhibited compressive strengths of 34.43 MPa, 41.3 MPa, and 50.89 MPa at 3 days, 7 days, and 28 days, respectively, with an EMR utilization rate of 60%. The hydration products of EMR-based cementitious materials were C-(A)-S-H, AFt, and ferromanganese compounds, which contribute to the mechanical strength. The Mn2+ and NH4+-N contents of raw EMR were 1220 and 149 mg/L, respectively. Nonetheless, the leaching of Mn2+ and NH4+-N in the alkali-EMR-GBFS system was significantly below the limits set by the Chinese emission standard GB8978-1996. Within this system, C-(A)-S-H and AFt could physically adsorb and displace heavy metals, Ca6Mn2(SO4)2(SO3)2(OH)12·24H2O could replace Al ions with Mn ions, and ferromanganese compounds Fe2Mn(PO4)2(OH)2·(H2O)8 and MnFe2O4 could chemically precipitate Mn2+.

BACKGROUND: Both in-hospital cardiac arrest (IHCA) and out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) have higher incidence and lower survival rates. Predictors of in-hospital mortality for intensive care unit (ICU) admitted cardiac arrest (CA) patients remain unclear. METHODS: The Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care IV (MIMIC-IV) database was used to perform a retrospective study. Patients meeting the inclusion criteria were identified from the MIMIC-IV database and randomly divided into training set (n = 1206, 70%) and validation set (n = 516, 30%). Candidate predictors consisted of the demographics, comorbidity, vital signs, laboratory test results, scoring systems, and treatment information on the first day of ICU admission. Independent risk factors for in-hospital mortality were screened using the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) regression model and the extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost) in the training set. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to build prediction models in training set, and then validated in validation set. Discrimination, calibration and clinical utility of these models were compared using the area under the curve (AUC) of the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves, calibration curves and decision curve analysis (DCA). After pairwise comparison, the best performing model was chosen to build a nomogram. RESULTS: Among the 1722 patients, in-hospital mortality was 53.95%. In both sets, the LASSO, XGBoost,the logistic regression(LR) model and the National Early Warning Score 2 (NEWS 2) models showed acceptable discrimination. In pairwise comparison, the prediction effectiveness was higher with the LASSO,XGBoost and LR models than the NEWS 2 model (p < 0.001). The LASSO,XGBoost and LR models also showed good calibration. The LASSO model was chosen as our final model for its higher net benefit and wider threshold range. And the LASSO model was presented as the nomogram. CONCLUSIONS: The LASSO model enabled good prediction of in-hospital mortality in ICU admission CA patients, which may be widely used in clinical decision-making.

Human beings have consumed soybean as an excellent food source for thousand years due to its rich protein, fatty acids, minerals, and fibers. However, soybeans were recognized as one of the big eight allergens resulting in allergic symptoms and even could lead to death. With the increasing demand for soybean products, the challenges caused by soybean allergy need to be solved urgently. This review detailly described the pathogenesis and clinical characteristics of soybean allergy, and also the advantages and disadvantages of four different diagnostic methods were summarized. The major soybean allergens and their structures were summarized. Three types of soybean allergy including Type I, III, and IV, which could trigger allergic reactions were reported in this review. Summary in four different diagnostic methods showed that double-blind, placebo-controlled food challenge is recognized as a gold standard for diagnosing soybean allergy. Three types of processing techniques in reducing soybean allergy were discussed, and the results concluded that some novel food processing techniques such as ultrasound, cold-plasma treatment, showed potential application in the reduction of soybean allergenicity. Further, some suggestions regarding the management and treatment of food allergies were addressed in this review.

Background: Postoperative poor sleep quality and decreased gastrointestinal motility function are common clinical problems. This study investigated the effects of dexmedetomidine (DEX) combined with sufentanil for patient-controlled analgesia (PCA) on postoperative sleep quality and gastrointestinal motility function after surgery in patients with colorectal cancer. Methods: Patients undergoing colorectal cancer surgery were randomly divided into three groups, DEX 0, 200, or 400 µg, each combined with sufentanil 150 µg for PCA immediately after surgery. The primary outcome was sleep quality in the first 7 days after surgery based on the Athens Insomnia Scale (AIS) score. The secondary outcome was postoperative gastrointestinal motility recovery evaluated by the time of first flatus, first feces and first diet. Postoperative pain intensity, side effects and the length of postoperative hospital stay were also compared among groups. The study was registered with the Chinese Clinical Trial Registry (https://www.chictr.org.cn/enIndex.aspx, ChiCTR2000032601). Results: Ultimately, 210 cases were included. Sleep quality was better in the DEX 200 µg group and DEX 400 µg group than in the DEX 0 µg group. Overall, in the DEX 200 µg group and DEX 400 µg group, the AIS score (p < 0.05) and the incidence of sleep disturbance (7.3%, 4.5% vs. 19.6%, p < 0.001) were lower than those in the DEX 0 µg group in the first 7 days after surgery. There were no significant differences in postoperative gastrointestinal motility among the three groups in the total surgical categories (p > 0.05). In the laparoscopic surgery patients of each group, the time of postoperative first flatus (p = 0.02) and first feces (p = 0.01) was significantly longer in the DEX 400 µg group than in the DEX 0 µg group. There were no differences in postoperative pain intensity, side effects or length of postoperative hospital stay (p > 0.05). Conclusion: The continuous infusion of DEX (200 or 400 µg) for PCA significantly improved postoperative sleep quality after colorectal cancer surgery. DEX (200 µg) was better at improving postoperative sleep quality without affecting gastrointestinal motility function than DEX (400 µg) in patients who underwent laparoscopic colorectal cancer surgery.

To improve the safety of road tunnel pavement, the research established road tunnel pavement water seepage recognition models based on deep learning technology, and a water seepage area extraction model based on image processing technology to finally achieve accurate detection of water seepage on tunnel pavements. First, the deep learning models EfficientNet water seepage recognition model and MobileNet water seepage recognition model were built, the models were trained with the self-collected pavement seepage data set, and the F1 score was introduced to evaluate the accuracy and comprehensive performance of the two models in predicting different categories of water seepage characteristics. Then three grayscale processing methods, the cvtColor function, mean method and maximum method, six global threshold segmentation methods, Otsu thresholding method, THRESH_BINARY, THRESH_BINARY_INV, THRESH_TRUNC, THRESH_TOZERO and THRESH_TOZERO_INV, three filtering methods, namely Gaussian filtering, median filtering and morphological open operation, as well as small connected domain removal, were used to reduce the noise of the images. Finally, the seepage area image calculation method was proposed based on the processed images to predict the actual pavement seepage area. The results show that the recognition accuracy of the EfficientNet water seepage recognition model is 99.85% and 97.53% in the training and validation sets respectively, which is 2.85% and 0.76% higher than the 97% and 96.77% of the MobileNet model. The average F1 score of the EfficientNet model is 95.22%, which is 5.05% higher than that of the MobileNet model, for the four types of seepage feature images: point seepage, line seepage, surface seepage and no seepage. The cvtColor function for grayscale processing, THRESH_BINARY for threshold segmentation and a combination of median filtering and morphological open operation for image noise reduction can effectively extract the seepage features. The area calculation is performed by the seepage area image calculation method, and the average error between the predicted value and the actual seepage area is 8.30%, which can better achieve the accurate extraction of the seepage area.

In order to solve the problems of the smooth surface of basalt fiber and its weak interfacial adhesion with emulsified asphalt cold recycled mixture, a silane coupling agent (KH550) was used to treat the surface of basalt fiber and the effects of treatment concentration and soaking time on fiber modification were studied. The influence of silane coupling-modified basalt fiber (MBF) on the rheological properties of emulsified asphalt evaporation residue was studied at high and low temperatures using three routine index tests: a dynamic shear rheological test (DSR), a bending beam rheological test (BBR), and a force ductility test. The elemental changes of the fiber before and after modification and the microstructure of the emulsified asphalt evaporation residue with the coupling-modified fiber were analyzed by Fourier infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and X-ray energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), which is used to study the modification mechanism of emulsified asphalt evaporation residue reinforced by coupling-modified fiber. The results indicate that the concentration and soaking time of the silane coupling agent have a great influence on the surface morphology and mechanical properties of the fiber, and that the optimal treatment concentration is 1.0% and the optimal soaking time is 60 min. The addition of coupling-modified fibers can reduce the phase angle and unrecoverable creep compliance of emulsified asphalt evaporation residue, increase the rutting factor and creep recovery rate, and improve the elastic recovery ability and permanent deformation resistance. However, excessive fiber will weaken the ductility of emulsified asphalt at low temperatures. The appropriate content of silane coupling-modified fiber (MBF) is 1.5%. After silane coupling modification, the fiber surface becomes rough and cohesion is enhanced between the fiber and the emulsified asphalt base. Silane coupling-modified basalt fiber (MBF) acts as reinforcement for stability and bridging cracks.

In this study, the semicircle three-point bending tests of ordinary asphalt concrete and basalt fiber asphalt concrete were carried out and acoustic emission parameters were collected during the test. The differences of the characteristics of acoustic emission parameters between basalt fiber asphalt concrete and ordinary asphalt concrete were analyzed, and the damage stages were divided based on the variation of acoustic emission parameters; Rise Angle and Average Frequency were introduced to study the cracking mode and crack resistance mechanism of asphalt concrete with basalt fiber. The results show that the acoustic emission parameters can well represent the toughening and crack resistance effect of basalt fiber in asphalt concrete, and the damage stages can be divided into three stages: microcrack initiation stage, fracture stage, and residual stage. The duration of the fracture stage and the load resistance time of the specimen were greatly prolonged. The proportion of shear events in the whole failure process increased greatly after the basalt fibers were added, especially in the fracture stage, which reduced the tensile failure tendency of the specimens, and thus improved the bending and tensile performance of the specimens and played a toughening and crack resistance role in the fracture stage.

In order to improve the safety of the tunnel asphalt pavement in the event of a fire, and reduce the deterioration of the low temperature crack resistance of the asphalt by the flame retardant. The research uses aluminum hydroxide (ATH) as a smoke suppressant, diethyl aluminum hypophosphite (ADP) as a flame retardant, and halloysite nanotubes (HNTs) as a synergist to modified styrene-butadiene-styrene block copolymer (SBS) modified asphalt (MA). First, the content of ATH, ADP, and HNTs was used as the response variable. The physical properties (Penetration, Softening point, Ductility) and static flame retardant properties (Limiting oxygen index meter, Ignition point) of the asphalt modified by nanocomposite flame-retardant (HNTs-CFRMA) were the response variables. The response surface methodology was used to design the test, and regression models were established to analyze the influence of flame retardants on the performance of asphalt. Then, comprehensively considering the effects of physical properties and flame retardant properties, the normalized desirability function was used to perform a multi-objective optimization design on the components of the nanocomposite flame retardant modifier to obtain the best flame retardant formula. Finally, the rheological properties of MA, conventional flame-retardant modified asphalt (CFRMA), and HNTs-CFRMA were tested based on Dynamic shear rheometer, Multiple stress creep test, Force ductility tester, and Bending beam rheometer. The performance of flame-retardant and smoke suppression were tested by the Cone calorimeter tests. The result shows that ATH, ADP, and HNTs can enhance the high temperature performance of asphalt, reduce the penetration. The addition of HNTs can increase significantly the softening point and reduce the deteriorating effect of flame retardants on the low temperature performance of asphalt; the addition of ATH and HNTs can improve significantly the flame retardancy of asphalt. Based on the desirability function of power exponent, the formulation of the nanocomposite flame retardant with better physical properties and flame retardant properties is ATH:ADP:HNTs = 3:5:1, and the total content is 9 wt%. Nanocomposite flame retardants can improve obviously the high temperature rheological properties of asphalt. The rutting factor and the cracking factor of HNTs-CFRMA improve markedly, and the irrecoverable creep compliance is reduced, compared with MA and CFRMA. Nanocomposite flame retardant can make up for the deterioration of conventional flame retardants on asphalt's low temperature performance. At the same time, it has better flame-retardant performance and smoke suppression performance.

In this study, asphalt concrete specimens were subjected to a semicircle bending test at -10 °C to simulate the process of the development of cracks in asphalt concrete at low temperature. The acoustic emission parameters were collected during the test, the variation characteristics of acoustic emission parameters were analyzed, and the peakedness value was introduced to evaluate the damage of asphalt concrete. The dynamic evolution of fracture development was analyzed by periods with acoustic emission source location. The results indicate that the damage of asphalt mixtures shows an obvious brittle characteristic at low temperature, acoustic emission signals mainly originate from the crack damage caused by tensile stress, and the strength and number of signals can reflect the degree of crack development. Based on acoustic emission parameters and load curves, the cracking damage of asphalt concrete at low temperature in this study can be divided into three periods: a calm period, a stable development period, and a rapid fracture period. The crack point occurred and propagated upward rapidly in the rapid fracture period. During this period, acoustic emission parameters such as ringing count, acoustic emission energy, and amplitude increased suddenly; furthermore, the peakedness value reached its peak in this period and corresponded well with the low-temperature damage of asphalt concrete. Acoustic emission source location technology can track position of crack points and the propagation path of cracks, reflecting the dynamic evolution process of asphalt concrete crack damage at low temperature.

The inflammability of asphalt road will promote fire spread in the tunnel and produce lots of toxic smoke. To improve the fire resistance of asphalt pavement, mineral powder flame retardants are generally replaced by flame retardants in equal amounts. In this study, the effects of the synergistic flame retardancy system of halloysite nanotubes (HNTs) and conventional flame retardants (CFR) on the flame retardancy performance and mechanism of asphalt were investigated. Firstly, the flame retardancy properties of the HNTs and CFR composite modified asphalt were investigated based on the Cleveland open cup method (COC), Limiting oxygen index meter (LOI), and Cone calorimeter tests (CCTs). Then, the flame retardancy mechanism of the modified asphalt was studied based on Thermogravimetric analyzer (TGA), Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR), and Scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results show that adding HNTs could improve the flame retardancy of the CFR modified asphalt binder. When 1 wt % HNTs and 8 wt % CFR were used, the limiting oxygen index of asphalt increased by 40.1%, the ignition temperature increased by 40 °C, while the heat release rate, total heat release, the smoke production rate, total smoke release, and other parameters decreased with varying degrees. Based on TG, FTIR, and SEM, the targeted flame retardancy mechanism and synergistic effect of HNTs/CFR flame retardancy system were revealed and summarized as three stages: (1) Stage 1, aluminum hydroxide (ATH) absorbs heat through thermal decomposition and inhibits the decomposition of lightweight components in asphalt; (2) Stage 2, aluminum diethyl phosphate (ADP) decomposes and produces organic phosphoric acid, which catalyzes crosslinking and ring thickening of asphalt and the quenching effect of phosphorus free radicals to block the combustion; and (3) Stage 3, HNTs plays an important role in increasing the integrity and density of the barrier layer. In addition, the Al2O3 produced by the decomposition of ATH, the carbon layer formed by the ADP catalyzed pitch, and HNTs play a significant synergistic effect in the formation of the barrier layer. Thus, the combination of HNTs and CFR has been proved to be a prospective flame retardancy system for asphalt.

Cooperative adaptive cruise control (CACC) vehicles need vehicle-to-vehicle (V2 V) communication to achieve CACC function. When a CACC vehicle follows a manual-driven vehicle (MDV) without V2 V communication, it needs degenerate to adaptive cruise control (ACC). By using real experiments, California PATH program indicated that ACC vehicles are apt to be unstable, which may have negative influence on fuel consumption and traffic emissions. Hence, this paper studies the impacts of the mixed CACC-MDV traffic on fuel consumption and emissions, by taking into consideration partial degenerations from stable CACC vehicles to unstable ACC vehicles. To deal with this, microscopic simulations were adopted by using car-following models. Then, an appropriate emission model was used for evaluating the emission impacts under different CACC market penetration rates (MPRs). In order to obtain reliable evaluation results, the models validated by PATH program using real experimental data were employed as the CACC and ACC car-following models. In addition, we also analytically investigated stability of the mixed traffic flow under different CACC MPRs, in order to explore its relationship with the emission impacts. The results show that the fuel consumption and emissions firstly increase and then decrease with the increase of the CACC MPR. This means the mixed traffic under some ranges of CACC MPRs will produce more fuel consumption and emissions, compared with the full MDVs traffic. It indicates that stability situations of the mixed traffic qualitatively influence the impact trend of CACC MPRs on fuel consumption and emissions. Then, V2 V communication equipments on MDVs are not only encouraging but also essential to avoid the deterioration of fuel consumption and emissions of the mixed traffic flow. IMPLICATIONS: From a novel perspective, emission impacts of mixed CACC-HDVs flow are studied by considering partial degeneration from stable CACC to unstable ACC. It showed that stability of the mixed traffic flow qualitatively influences the impact trend of emissions with respect to CACC market penetration rates (MPR). Full V2 V communication environment is essential to reduce fuel consumption and emissions in the mixed traffic flow.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the incidence and mortality of colorectal cancer in China from 1998 to 2002, and to analyze its prevalence trend. METHODS: The cancer registration data in 10 cities and counties in China during the period of 1988-1992, 1993-1997 and 1998-2002 were used to investigate the incidence, mortality, and prevalence trend of colorectal cancer from 1988 to 2002. RESULTS: The total number of new cases of colorectal cancer in the 10 cities and counties during 1988-2002 was 62,793, accounting for 9.27% of all malignant tumors. The crude incidence rate was 20.10/10(5), and the age-standardized incidence adjusted by world population was 15.63/10(5). The total number of death of colorectal cancer in the 10 cities and counties during 1988-2002 was 35,545, accounting for 7.37% of all malignant tumors. The mortality rate was 11.38/10(5), the age-standardized mortality rate adjusted by world population was 8.70/10(5). The incidence and mortality of colorectal cancer during 1988-2002 increased by 38.56% and 15.30%, respectively, and the incidence and mortality rates in urban area was higher than that in rural area, and higher in males than in females. The crude incidence rate of colon cancer was higher than that of rectal cancer, especially in urban area, but the mortality of rectal cancer was a little bit higher than that of colon cancer. CONCLUSION: There is an increasing trend in both the incidence and mortality rates of colorectal cancer from 1988-2002 in the 10 cities and counties in China. Measures should further be taken in the prevention and treatment of colorectal cancer in the whole population of China in future.
