RESUMEN

Two coordination polymers (CPs), [Zn5(L)2(phen)5](1) and [Cd2(HL)(2,2-bpy)(H2O)3](2), were synthesized by using 2',3,3',5,5'-Diphenyl ether pentacarboxylic acid (H5L), phenanthroline (phen), and 2,2'-bipyridine (2,2'-bpy) under hydrothermal conditions. The L5- ligand adopts the µ6-к2: к2: к1: к1: к1: к1 mode in 1 and the µ5-к2: к2: к2: к2: к1 mode in 2. Sensing experiments show that 1 and 2 are fluorescence probes with high sensitivity and rapid detection of nitro explosives, antibiotics, and pesticides. In order to verify the ability of 2 to detect FLU in actual samples, we performed a spiked recovery experiment in green pepper water. The spiked recoveries were 97.77-101.18 %. Interestingly, because H5L is not completely deprotonated in 2, there is abundant hydrogen bonding, which makes the fluorescence quenching rate higher and the detection limit lower. The possible fluorescence quenching mechanism of 1 and 2 can be explained by their UV-VIS absorption spectra and orbital energy levels.

RESUMEN

The aminocarbonylation of alkenes is an efficient approach to synthesize important ß-amino acid motifs. However, simple and convenient methods are still rare. Herein, we present a novel visible-light-mediated controllable three-component radical relay coupling of alkenes, alkyl formates and oxime esters. By the combination of hydrogen atom transfer and energy transfer processes, a series of ß-amino esters could be obtained smoothly in one step under mild conditions. We expect that the approach can complement current methodologies for the synthesis of ß-amino esters.

RESUMEN

Soil plastisphere has attracted many concerns, however, its influence on cadmium (Cd) availability in paddy soil was still unclear. This study carried out batch microcosmic and bagging experiments to explore the influence of microplastic (MPs) on Cd availability in paddy soil under flooding conditions in the view of plastisphere. Results showed that the presence of MPs could act as plastisphere micro-environment. The bacterial community composition changed dramatically around the plastisphere compared with MPs-contaminated bulk soil and control soil. The relative abundance of Symbiobacteraceae, Rhodocyclaceae and Bryobacteraceae was improved in the plastisphere which contributed to the enhanced the reduction of Fe(III) and sulfate in flooding paddy soil. The higher content of Fe(II) and S content contributed to the enrichment of Cd in the plastisphere which aggravated Cd availability in paddy soil under flooding conditions. The partial least squares structure equation modeling results confirmed the presence of MPs in paddy soil could act as plastisphere which could change the bacterial community composition and improve the content Fe and S that was conductive to gather Cd in plastisphere. This study shed lights on the understanding of the role of plastisphere on Cd availability in paddy field ecosystem under flooding conditions.

RESUMEN

Aiming at the effective remediation of antibiotic contaminants in groundwater, in-situ chemical oxidation (ISCO), using controlled release materials (CRMs) as an oxidant deliverer, has emerged as a promising technique due to their long-term effective pollutant removal performance. This study used different microstructures of mesoporous manganese oxide (MnOx) and sodium persulfate as active components to fabricate CRMs. Following that, a comparative study of tetracycline (TC) degradation and the formation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) by mesoporous MnOx powder and CRMs were conducted. The ROS formed during peroxodisulfate (PDS) activation by powder catalysts and CRMs differed, but MnOx powder catalysts and CRMs both had good reaction stoichiometric efficiency (RSE) for PDS, thus completely mineralizing TC. In PDS activation by mesoporous MnOx powder, oxygen vacancies (OVs) caused by defects in the catalysts contributed to the generation of singlet oxygen (1O2). The 1O2 and free radicals (·SO4- and ·OH) both worked as major ROS participating in TC degradation. Concerning the release of CRMs in static groundwater, the immobilization of catalysts inside CRMs made it difficult to release 1O2 in the solution, thus slowing the degradation of TC by CRMs containing MnOx(1) in static groundwater. In the TC remediation in dynamic groundwater, the water flowing slowly passed through the CRM layer, and TC molecules were trapped. Therefore, 1O2 degraded the trapped TC in the CRM layer in dynamic groundwater. Compared to TC, the toxicity of most intermediates during the TC degradation by CRMs has decreased in static and dynamic groundwater.

RESUMEN

Context: Amputation results in large wounds and in mobility disorders for patients, easily leading to social difficulties and affecting patients' psychological recovery. In recent years, some clinicians have used narrative nursing to intervene in the effects of stigma for patients with diseases other than amputations and have achieved good effects. Objective: The study intended to examine the impact of narrative nursing on amputation patients' feelings of stigma and on their resulting psychological crises. Design: The research team conducted a randomized controlled trial. Setting: The study occurred at the Affiliated Huaian No.1 People's Hospital of Nanjing Medical University in Huai'an, China. Participants: Participants were 75 patients who underwent lower-limb amputations at the hospital between November 2021 and May 2023. Interventions: The research team randomly divided participants into two groups: (1) the control group with 38 participants, who received conventional nursing, and (2) the intervention group, with 37 participants, who received a narrative nursing intervention in addition to conventional nursing. Outcome Measures: The research team measured: (1) stigma, using the Stigma Impact Scale (SIS); (2) anxiety and depression, using the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS); and (3) nursing satisfaction. The team also examined the correlation between participants' stigma scores and anxiety and depression scores. Results: Postintervention compared to the control group, the intervention group's: (1) SIS scores were significantly lower (P < .001); (2) anxiety and depression scores were significantly lower (both P < .001); (3) total nursing satisfaction rate was significantly higher (P = .011). The correlation analysis demonstrated a significant positive association between the SIS and the HADS scores (P < .05). Conclusions: Narrative nursing can improve the psychological states of amputees, mitigate their feelings of stigma, and elevate their nursing satisfaction, and it's worthy of clinical use.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: To construct an asthma diagnostic scale for children under 6 years old. METHODS: An electronic medical record database was used to develop the scale. Item pool was established through literature survey and expert opinion. Items were screened and optimized by using the Delphi method, t-test, reactivity analysis, Pearson correlation coefficient, factor analysis, reliability and validity test. The predictive probability of asthma was calculated using logistic regression, and receiver operating characteristic curve. Another childhood asthma database was used to validated the scale. RESULTS: The asthma diagnostic scale for children under 6 years old included five dimensions: dimension 1 (shortness of breath, three concave sign, cyanosis, moist rale, heart rhythm, heart sound and dyspnea), dimension 2 (respiratory sound, cough, sputum), dimension 3 (frequency of wheezing, allergic rhinitis, history of allergy in one or both parents), dimension 4 (sex, wheezing, atopic dermatitis), and dimension 5 (reversible airflow, positive in vitro or in vivo allergy test). The Cronbach's α coefficients for the five dimensions were 0.846, 0.459, 0.019, 0.202, and 0.024. The area under the ROC curve (AUC), sensitivity, and specificity were 0.737, 59.1%, and 81.2%. AUC, sensitivity, and specificity in the validation database were 0.614, 76.2%, and 46.7%. CONCLUSION: The scale has significant diagnostic value for asthma in children under 6 years old. IMPACT: 1. The aim of the study was to establish an asthma diagnosis scale for children younger than 6 years old. 2. Our study not only addresses the lack of diagnostic criteria of young children asthma, but also indicates the accuracy of the diagnostic scale. 3. The data may help to reduce the missed diagnosis and misdiagnosis rate of asthma, and improve the diagnostic accuracy of the disease, and thus reduces the harm of asthma to children's physical and mental health.

RESUMEN

The impact of acupuncture on knee function and pain intensity following knee replacement remains controversial. Therefore, we categorized the postsurgery recovery period into 3 phases: short-term (≤2 weeks), intermediate-term (2 weeks-3 months), and long-term (>3 months), and then assessed the effectiveness of acupuncture in improving function and alleviating pain at different stages following knee replacement. This meta-analysis included randomized controlled trials that compared acupuncture intervention with either no treatment or a sham group after knee replacement. Six databases were searched from inception to December 31, 2023, including PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, Web of Science, and 2 Chinese databases (Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure and WanFang Data). A total of 23 studies comprising 1,464 participants were included. Significant improvement of active range of motion was observed on day 7 and week 2 after operation. Lower pain intensity at rest was noted in patients receiving acupuncture in short-term periods after operation (12 hours, day 1, day 2, day 5, and week 2). A reduction in pain intensity during movement with acupuncture was observed on postoperative day 1 and day 7. Auricular acupuncture did not show not significant effectiveness in improving range of motion and pain intensity. For conventional acupuncture, the combination of distal and local point selection was found to be the most effective. Early application of acupuncture, in conjunction with physical therapy, starting before postoperative day 1 or day 2, was recommended. Further high-quality researches are warranted to validate the findings in this meta-analysis. PERSPECTIVE: This article demonstrates that acupuncture has short-term effects (≤2 weeks) on improving active range of motion and reducing pain during rest and during movement following knee replacement surgery. The findings support the early application of acupuncture in hospital settings after knee replacement. REGISTRATION ID: The study was registered on PROSPERO (CRD42024503479).

RESUMEN

Herein, we developed a practical method for synthesizing a class of novel and highly valuable indolyl vinyl sulfonyl fluorides. This protocol has carved out a path for constructing a broad range of vinyl sulfonyl fluorinated indoles with exclusive stereo- and regioselectivity through the Friedel-Crafts/elimination reaction without any transition-metal catalyst. This transformation features mild conditions, high efficiency, excellent selectivity, and rich substrate compatibility, highlighting its significant value in medicinal chemistry and many related disciplines.

RESUMEN

Rodent-infested bald spots are crucial indicators of rodent infestation in grasslands. Leveraging Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) remote sensing technology for discerning detrimental bald spots among plateau pikas has significant implications for assessing associated ecological hazards. Based on UAV-visible light imagery, we classified and recognized the characteristics of plateau pika habitats with five supervised classification algorithms, i.e., minimum distance classification (MinD), maximum likelihood classification (ML), support vector machine classification (SVM), Mahalanobis distance classification (MD), and neural network classification (NN) . The accuracy of the five methods was evaluated using a confusion matrix. Results showed that NN and SVM exhibited superior performance than other methods in identifying and classifying features indicative of plateau pika habitats. The mapping accuracy of NN for grassland and bald spots was 98.1% and 98.5%, respectively, with corresponding user accuracy was 98.8% and 97.7%. The overall model accuracy was 98.3%, with a Kappa coefficient of 0.97, reflecting minimal misclassification and omission errors. Through practical verification, NN exhibited good stability. In conclusion, the neural network method was suitable for identifying rodent-damaged bald spots within alpine meadows.

RESUMEN

A practical copper-catalyzed process for the synthesis of the ß-arylethenesulfonyl fluorides is described. A series of α-bromo arylethyl sulfonyl fluorides was prepared via Meerwein reaction from arenediazonium tetrafluoroborates and ethenesulfonyl fluoride (ESF) under mild conditions. The following ß-arylethenesulfonyl fluorides were further obtained through a ß-elimination reaction. This protocol features excellent regio- and stereoselectivity and broad substrate scope.

RESUMEN

Precise control over the organic composition is crucial for tailoring the distinctive structures and properties of hybrid metal halides. However, this approach is seldom utilized to develop materials that exhibit stimuli-responsive circularly polarized luminescence (CPL). Herein, we present the synthesis and characterization of enantiomeric hybrid zinc bromides: biprotonated ((R/S)-C12H16N2)ZnBr4 ((R/S-LH2)ZnBr4) and monoprotonated ((R/S)-C12H15N2)2ZnBr4 ((R/S-LH1)2ZnBr4), derived from the chiral organic amine (R/S)-2,3,4,9-Tetrahydro-1H-carbazol-3-amine ((R/S)-C12H14N2). These compounds showcase luminescent properties; the zero-dimensional biprotonated form emits green light at 505 nm, while the monoprotonated form, with a pseudo-layered structure, displays red luminescence at 599 and 649 nm. Remarkably, the reversible local protonation-deprotonation behavior of the organic cations allows for exposure to polar solvents and heating to induce reversible structural and luminescent transformations between the two forms. Theoretical calculations reveal that the lower energy barrier associated with the deprotonation process within the pyrrole ring is responsible for the local protonation-deprotonation behavior observed. These enantiomorphic hybrid zinc bromides also exhibit switchable circular dichroism (CD) and CPL properties. Furthermore, their chloride counterparts were successfully obtained by adjusting the halogen ions. Importantly, the unique stimuli-responsive CPL characteristics position these hybrid zinc halides as promising candidates for applications in information storage, anti-counterfeiting, and information encryption.

RESUMEN

Under the background of digitalization of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), to realize the quick identification and adulteration analysis of Pulsatilla Radix (PR), adhering to digital conviction, this study conducted UHPLC-QTOF-MSE analysis on PR and its adulterant-Pulsatilla Cernua (PC) from different batches and based on digital conversion, the shared ions were extracted from different batches of PR and PC as their "ions representation", respectively. Further, the data set of unique ions of PR relative to PC and PC relative to PR were screened out as the "digital identities" of PR and PC respectively. Further, above the "digital identities" of PR and PC were used as the benchmarks for matching and identifying to feedback give a matching credibility (MC). The results showed that based on the "digital identities" of PR and PC, the digital identification of two herbal samples can be realized efficiently and accurately at the individual level with the MC≥70.00 %, even if 5 % of PC in the mixed samples can still be identified efficiently and accurately. The study is of great practical significance for improving the identification efficiency of PR and PC, cracking down on adulterated and counterfeit drugs, and strengthening the quality control of PR. In addition, it has important reference significance for developing non-targeted digital identification of herbal medicines at the individual level based on UHPLC-QTOF-MSE and the "digital identity", which was beneficial to the construction of digital Chinese medicine and digital quality control.

RESUMEN

The Chinese horned toads, Boulenophrys boettgeri (Boulenger, 1899) and Boulenophrys kuatunensis (Pope, 1929), are two captivating species within the family Megophryidae, which inhabit the mountainous streams in the Eastern of China. In this study, two new complete mitochondrial genomes of B. boettgeri and B. kuatunensis were sequenced, assembled, and annotated using next-generation sequencing. The length of mitochondrial genomes of B. boettgeri and B. kuatunensis was 16,597 and 17,921 bp, respectively, with both containing 13 protein coding genes, 22 tRNA genes, two rRNA genes, and one putative control region. Phylogenetic relationships based on protein-coding mitochondrial genes showed that the two Boulenophrys species formed a cluster with other Boulenophrys species. The two new sequences provide valuable insights into the mitochondrial genomes of these two species, offering important data for understanding the phylogenetic relationships of the genus Boulenophrys.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: This study was conducted to compare the differences between 3D-printed multichannel non-co-planar vaginal applicators and single-channel vaginal applicators in cervical cancer patients with positive or close surgical margins. METHODS: Between January 2015 and June 2023, 104 cervical cancer patients who underwent radical surgery with positive or close surgical margins were enrolled to receive concurrent intensity-modulated chemoradiotherapy combined with 3D-printed multichannel non-co-planar vaginal applicators (3D-printed group, 41 patients) or single-channel vaginal applicators (single-channel group, 63 patients) guided brachytherapy. The dosimetric parameters, 5-year local control (LC), progression-free survival (PFS), overall survival (OS) of two groups were retrospectively analyzed. RESULTS: The high-risk clinical target volume (D90, D100) and high-dose volume fraction (V150) in 3D-printed group were significantly higher than those in single-channel group (p < 0.05), and the homogeneity index (HI) and conformal index (COIN) were equally better in 3D-printed group. In 3D-printed group, the D2cc, D1cc, and D0.1cc of the bladder and rectum were significantly lower than those of the single-channel group (p < 0.05). The 3D-printed group had significantly superior 5-year LC (70.0% vs. 51.3%, p = 0.041) and PFS (63.0% vs. 44.2%, p = 0.045), but OS were not significantly different between treatment groups (75.4% vs. 59.7%, p = 0.112). The incidence of radiation enteritis and cystitis was lower in the 3D-printed group than in the single-channel group, but no statistical difference was noted. CONCLUSIONS: The 3D-printed multichannel non-co-planar vaginal insertion applicators show the advantage of target dose, improve the LC and PFS in patients with positive or close surgical margins after cervical cancer surgery. Thus, the popularization of this method and its application may be of value.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Development of distant metastasis (DM) is a major concern during treatment of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). However, studies have demonstrated improved distant control and survival in patients with advanced NPC with the addition of chemotherapy to concomitant chemoradiotherapy. Therefore, precise prediction of metastasis in patients with NPC is crucial. AIM: To develop a predictive model for metastasis in NPC using detailed magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) reports. METHODS: This retrospective study included 792 patients with non-distant metastatic NPC. A total of 469 imaging variables were obtained from detailed MRI reports. Data were stratified and randomly split into training (50%) and testing sets. Gradient boosting tree (GBT) models were built and used to select variables for predicting DM. A full model comprising all variables and a reduced model with the top-five variables were built. Model performance was assessed by area under the curve (AUC). RESULTS: Among the 792 patients, 94 developed DM during follow-up. The number of metastatic cervical nodes (30.9%), tumor invasion in the posterior half of the nasal cavity (9.7%), two sides of the pharyngeal recess (6.2%), tubal torus (3.3%), and single side of the parapharyngeal space (2.7%) were the top-five contributors for predicting DM, based on their relative importance in GBT models. The testing AUC of the full model was 0.75 (95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.69-0.82). The testing AUC of the reduced model was 0.75 (95%CI: 0.68-0.82). For the whole dataset, the full (AUC = 0.76, 95%CI: 0.72-0.82) and reduced models (AUC = 0.76, 95%CI: 0.71-0.81) outperformed the tumor node-staging system (AUC = 0.67, 95%CI: 0.61-0.73). CONCLUSION: The GBT model outperformed the tumor node-staging system in predicting metastasis in NPC. The number of metastatic cervical nodes was identified as the principal contributing variable.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Lymphatic metastasis is the major challenge in the treatment of penile cancer. The prognosis of individuals with lymphatic metastasis is extremely poor. Therefore, early identification of disease progression and lymphatic metastasis is an urgent task for researchers in penile cancer worldwide. METHODS: In this study, using single-cell RNA sequencing, an immune landscape was established for the cancer ecosystem based on 46,861 cells from six patients with penile cancer (four with lymphatic metastasis [stage IV] and two without lymphatic metastasis [stage I]). Using bulk RNA sequencing, the discrepancy between the cancers and their respective metastatic lymph nodes was depicted based on seven patients with penile cancer. RESULTS: The interaction between epithelial cells, fibroblasts, and endothelial cells, and the functional cooperation among invasion, epithelial-mesenchymal transition, and angiogenesis were found to be important landscapes in the penile cancer ecosystem, playing important roles in progression of cancer and lymph node metastasis. CONCLUSIONS: This study is the first to investigate the altered tumor microenvironment heterogeneity of penile cancer as it evolves from non-lymphatic to lymphatic metastasis and provides insights into the mechanisms underlying malignant progression, the premetastatic niche, and lymphatic metastasis in penile cancer.

RESUMEN

Blackberry polysaccharides with certain molecular weight distribution have good bioactivity. In this research, type 2 diabetes mice were used to investigate the hypoglycemic effect of blackberry polysaccharides with three different molecular weights, BBP (603.59 kDa), BBP-8 (408.13 kDa) and BBP-24 (247.62 kDa), through gut microbiota modulation. Blackberry polysaccharides exhibited stronger hypoglycemic activity after degradation, and the FBG of BBP, BBP-8 and BBP-24 was reduced to 20.21 ± 4.17 mmol L-1, 20.6 ± 7.23 mmol L-1 and 17.32 ± 6.59 mmol L-1 and OGTT-AUC was reduced by 14.76%, 19.80% and 25.04%, respectively, after 8-week intervention. Furthermore, 16S rRNA gene sequencing analysis indicated that BBP, BBP-8 and BBP-24 could reshape the diversity and composition of the gut microbiota. From 0 to 4 weeks, the F/B of BBP, BBP-8 and BBP-24 reduced by 56.44%, 47.19% and 62.04%, reaching 3.39, 6.54, and 3.11 in the 8th week, respectively, which suggested the faster utilization of BBP-24. Moreover, the intervention the three blackberry polysaccharides increased the relative abundance of the targeted beneficial bacteria Oscillospira and Bacteroidaceae Bacteroides and decreased the relative abundance of the pathogenic bacterium Allobaculum. In general, the result demonstrated that blackberry polysaccharides with a lower molecular weight are more easily fermented, making the theoretical basis for the development of blackberry polysaccharides as a probiotic food to rapidly regulate intestinal flora for type 2 diabetes.
