RESUMEN

The label probe plays a crucial role in enhancing the sensitivity of lateral flow immunoassays. However, conventional fluorescent microspheres (FMs) have limitations due to their short fluorescence lifetime, susceptibility to background fluorescence interference, and inability to facilitate multi-component detection. In this study, carboxylate-modified Eu(III)-chelate-doped polystyrene nanobeads were employed as label probes to construct a multiple time-resolved fluorescent microsphere-based immunochromatographic test strip (TRFM-ICTS). This novel TRFM-ICTS facilitated rapid on-site quantitative detection of three mycotoxins in grains: Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1), Zearalenone (ZEN), and Deoxynivalenol (DON). The limit of detection (LOD) for AFB1, ZEN, and DON were found to be 0.03 ng/g, 0.11 ng/g, and 0.81 ng/g, respectively. Furthermore, the TRFM-ICTS demonstrated a wide detection range for AFB1 (0.05-8.1 ng/g), ZEN (0.125-25 ng/g), and DON (1.0-234 ng/g), while maintaining excellent selectivity. Notably, the test strip exhibited remarkable stability, retaining its detection capability even after storage at 4 °C for over one year. Importantly, the detection of these mycotoxins relied solely on simple manual operations, and with a portable reader, on-site detection could be accomplished within 20 min. This TRFM-ICTS presents a promising solution for sensitive on-site mycotoxin detection, suitable for practical application in various settings due to its sensitivity, accuracy, simplicity, and portability.

Atherosclerosis preferentially occurs in areas with low shear stress (LSS) and oscillatory flow. LSS has been demonstrated to correlate with the development of atherosclerosis. The sphingosine 1-phosphate receptor 1 (S1PR1), involving intravascular blood flow sensing, regulates vascular development and vascular barrier function. However, whether LSS affects atherosclerosis via regulating S1PR1 remains incompletely clear. In this study, immunostaining results of F-actin, ß-catenin, and VE-cadherin indicated that LSS impaired endothelial barrier function in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs). Western blot analysis showed that LSS resulted in blockage of autophagic flux in HUVECs. In addition, autophagy agonist Rapamycin (Rapa) antagonized LSS-induced endothelial barrier dysfunction, whereas autophagic flux inhibitor Bafilomycin A1 (BafA1) exacerbated it, indicating that LSS promoted endothelial barrier dysfunction by triggering autophagic flux blockage. Notably, gene expression analysis revealed that LSS downregulated S1PR1 expression, which was antagonized by Rapa. Selective S1PR1 antagonist W146 impaired endothelial barrier function of HUVECs under high shear stress (HSS) conditions. Moreover, our data showed that expression of GAPARAPL2, a member of autophagy-related gene 8 (Atg8) proteins, was decreased in HUVECs under LSS conditions. Autophagic flux blockage induced by GAPARAPL2 knockdown inhibited S1PR1, aggravated endothelial barrier dysfunction of HUVECs in vitro, and promoted aortic atherosclerosis in ApoE-/- mice in vivo. Our study demonstrates that autophagic flux blockage induced by LSS downregulates S1PR1 expression and impairs endothelial barrier function. GABARAPL2 inhibition is involved in LSS-induced autophagic flux blockage, which impairs endothelial barrier function via downregulation of S1PR1.

The constitutive model and modulus parameter equivalence of shape memory alloy composites (SMAC) serve as the foundation for the structural dynamic modeling of composite materials, which has a direct impact on the dynamic characteristics and modeling accuracy of SMAC. This article proposes a homogenization method for SMA composites considering interfacial phases, models the interface stress transfer of three-phase cylinders physically, and derives the axial and shear stresses of SMA fiber phase, interfacial phase, and matrix phase mathematically. The homogenization method and stress expression were then used to determine the macroscopic effective modulus of SMAC as well as the stress characteristics of the fiber phase and interface phase of SMA. The findings demonstrate the significance of volume fraction and tensile pre-strain in stress transfer between the fiber phase and interface phase at high temperatures. The maximum axial stress in the fiber phase is 705.05 MPa when the SMA is fully austenitic and the pre-strain increases to 5%. At 10% volume fraction of SMA, the fiber phase's maximum axial stress can reach 1000 MPa. Ultimately, an experimental verification of the theoretical calculation method's accuracy for the effective modulus of SMAC lays the groundwork for the dynamic modeling of SMAC structures.

AIMS: This study investigated resistance evolution mechanisms of conjugated plasmids and bacterial hosts under different concentrations of antibiotic pressure. METHODS: Ancestral strain ECNX52 was constructed by introducing the blaNDM-5-carrying IncX3 plasmid into E. coli C600, and was subjected to laboratory evolution under different concentrations of meropenem pressure. Minimal inhibitory concentrations and conjugation frequency were determined. Fitness of these strains was assessed. Whole genome sequencing and transcriptional changes were performed. Ancestral host or plasmids were recombined with evolved hosts or plasmids to verify plasmid or host factors in resistance evolution. Role of the repA mutation on plasmid copy number was determined. RESULTS: Two out of the four clones (EM2N1 and EM2N3) exhibited four-fold increase in MIC when exposed to a continuous pressure of 2 µg/mL MEM (1/32 MIC), by down regulating expression of outer membrane protein ompF. Besides, all four clones displayed four-fold increase in MIC and higher conjugation frequency when subjected to a continuous pressure of 4 µg/mL MEM (1/16 MIC), attributing to increasing plasmid copy number generated by repA D140Y (GAT→TAT) mutation. CONCLUSION: Bacterial hosts and conjugative plasmids can undergo resistance evolution under certain concentrations of antimicrobial pressure by reducing the expression of outer membrane proteins or increasing plasmid copy numbers.

RESUMEN

A practical and efficient method to access polysubstituted aryl sulfides has been discovered via a Lewis acid-catalyzed reaction between alkynyl sulfide and 2-pyrone, involving a Diels-Alder/retro-Diels-Alder pathway. Alkynyl sulfide as an electron-rich dienophile and 2-pyrones as electron-poor dienes are conjunctively transformed into a series of polysubstituted aryl sulfides with broad functional group compatibility in good to excellent yields (40 examples, 43-88% yield). The robustness and practicality of the protocol has been demonstrated through gram-scale synthesis and the ease of transformation of the resulting products.

BACKGROUND: Impaired visual mental imagery is an important symptom of depression and has gradually become an intervention target for cognitive behavioral therapy. METHODS: Our study involved a total of 25 healthy controls (HC) and 23 individuals with moderate depressive symptoms (MD). This study explored the attentional mechanism supporting visual mental imagery impairments in depression using the Vividness of Visual Imagery Questionnaire (VVIQ), attentional network test (ANT), and resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI). The intrinsic activity of attention-related regions relative to those supporting visual mental imagery was identified in depression patients. In addition, a meta-analysis was used to describe the cognitive function related to this intrinsic activity. RESULTS: The global correlation (GCOR) of the right anterior fusiform gyrus (FG) was decreased in depression patients. Attention-related areas were concentrated in the right posterior FG; the anterior and posterior functional connectivity (FC) of the FG was decreased in depression patients. Graph theoretic analysis showed that the degree of the right anterior FG was decreased, the degree of the anterior insula was increased, and the negative connection between these two regions was strengthened in depression patients. In addition, the degree of the right anterior FG, the FC between the subregions of the right FG, and the FC between the right anterior FG and insula were correlated with VVIQ scores; however, this correlation was not significant in depression patients. The meta-analysis suggested that the changes in the anterior FG in depressed patients may stem from difficulties of semantic memory retrieval. CONCLUSION: The changed intrinsic activity of subregions of the FG relative to the semantic memory retrieval may be associated with visual mental imagery impairments in depression.

PURPOSE: To evaluate the performance of a newly developed 2019-nCoV nucleic acid detection kit based on Ion Proton sequencing platform and make comparation with MGI Tech (DNBSEQ-G99) platform. METHODS: References and clinical samples were used to evaluate the precision, agreement rate, limit of detection (LOD), anti-interference ability and analytical specificity. Twenty-seven clinical specimens were used to make comparison between two platforms. RESULTS: The kit showed good intra-assay, inter-assay, inter-day precision between different operators and laboratories, fine agreement rate with references, a relatively low LOD of 1 × 103 copies/ml, anti-interference capability of 5 % whole blood and 1mg/ml mucin and no cross reaction with twenty-nine common clinical pathogens. Consistency of variant classification was observed between two platforms. The WGS from Ion Proton tended to have higher coverage and less missing data. CONCLUSIONS: The newly developed kit has shown satisfactory performances and excellent consistency with DNBSEQ-G99, making it a good alternative choice clinically.

BACKGROUND: Renal sympathetic denervation (RDN) reduces blood pressure (BP). METHODS: This single-arm open-label study enrolled patients with resistant hypertension (RH) and treat them by CT-guided ozone mediated lumbar-renal sympathetic denervation (L-RDN). The primary endpoint was to assess the changes of BP over 24-h ambulatory BP monitoring (ABPM) and to evaluate the anti-hypertensive medication burden (AHMB) at 3-month follow-up. This study was registered in Chictr.org.cn (ChiCTR2300071375). RESULTS: 17 patients (mean age 65.12 ± 10.77 years) with AHMB of 4.12 ± 1.11 were enrolled. After the procedure, 7 patients (46.7 %) matched the criteria for antihypertensive medication reduction. The AHMB decreased to 3.87 ± 0.96 for the whole objectives and from 3.87 ± 0.96 to 3.55 ± 0.78 for patients with normal baseline renal function. On top of the lessened AHMB, L-RDN further reduced morning systolic BP (SBP) by -8.6 ± 4.0 mmHg (p = 0.034) and diastolic BP (DBP) by -4.6 ± 2.1 mmHg (p = 0.032) for all participants and morning SBP by -13.2 ± 3.6 mmHg (p < 0.001), morning DBP by -6.2 ± 2.4 mmHg (p = 0.011) and daytime SBP by -4.1 ± 1.6 mmHg (p = 0.009) for those with normal baseline renal function at 3-month of follow-up. No adverse events were reported intra- and post operation. CONCLUSIONS: CT-guided ozone-mediated L-RDN might be an innovative approach of RDN for treating RH. Confirmatory studies are warranted.

Importance: Oral tongue cancer (OTC) incidence has increased rapidly among young (<50 years) non-Hispanic White individuals in the US during the past 2 decades; however, it is unknown if age-associated trajectories have persisted. Objective: To examine US trends in OTC incidence and project future case burden. Design, Setting, and Participants: This cross-sectional analysis of OTC incidence trends used the US Cancer Statistics Public Use Database, which covers approximately 98% of the US population, and included individuals with an OTC diagnosis reported to US cancer registries between January 1, 2001, and December 31, 2019. Exposures: Sex, race and ethnicity, and age. Main Outcomes and Measures: Estimated average annual percentage change in OTC incidence from 2001 to 2019. Given the substantial incidence rate increases among non-Hispanic White individuals compared with those of racial and ethnic minority groups, subsequent analyses were restricted to non-Hispanic White individuals. Forecasted OTC incidence trends and case burden among non-Hispanic White individuals to 2034. Results: There were 58 661 new cases of OTC identified between 2001 and 2019. Male individuals (57.6%), non-Hispanic White individuals (83.7%), those aged 60 years or older (58.0%), and individuals with localized stage disease at diagnosis (62.7%) comprised most cases. OTC incidence increased across all age, sex, and racial and ethnic groups, with marked increases observed among non-Hispanic White individuals (2.9% per year; 95% CI, 2.2%-3.7%). Increases among female individuals aged 50 to 59 years were most notable and significantly outpaced increases among younger non-Hispanic White female individuals (4.8% per year [95% CI, 4.1%-5.4%] vs 3.3% per year [95% CI, 2.7%-3.8%]). While all non-Hispanic White birth cohorts from 1925 to 1980 saw sustained increases, rates stabilized among female individuals born after 1980. Should trends continue, the burden of new OTC cases among non-Hispanic White individuals in the US is projected to shift more toward older individuals (from 33.1% to 49.3% among individuals aged 70 years or older) and female individuals (86% case increase vs 62% among male individuals). Conclusions and Relevance: The results of this cross-sectional study suggest that the period of rapidly increasing OTC incidence among younger non-Hispanic White female individuals in the US is tempering and giving way to greater increases among older female individuals, suggesting a birth cohort effect may have been associated with previously observed trends. Recent increases among non-Hispanic White individuals 50 years or older of both sexes have matched or outpaced younger age groups. Continuing increases among older individuals, particularly female individuals, may be associated with a shift in the OTC patient profile over time.

Ternary organic solar cells (T-OSCs) represent an efficient strategy for enhancing the performance of OSCs. Presently, the majority of high-performance T-OSCs incorporates well-established Y-acceptors or donor polymers as the third component. In this study, a novel class of conjugated small molecules has been introduced as the third component, demonstrating exceptional photovoltaic performance in T-OSCs. This innovative molecule comprises ethylenedioxythiophene (EDOT) bridge and 3-ethylrhodanine as the end group, with the EDOT unit facilitating the creation of multiple conformation locks. Consequently, the EDOT-based molecule exhibits two-dimensional charge transport, distinguishing it from the thiophene-bridged small molecule, which displays fewer conformation locks and provides one-dimensional charge transport. Furthermore, the robust electron-donating nature of EDOT imparts the small molecule with cascade energy levels relative to the electron donor and acceptor. As a result, OSCs incorporating the EDOT-based small molecule as the third component demonstrate enhanced mobilities, yielding a remarkable efficiency of 19.3 %, surpassing the efficiency of 18.7 % observed for OSCs incorporating thiophene-based small molecule as the third component. The investigations in this study underscore the excellence of EDOT as a building block for constructing conjugated materials with multiple conformation locks and high charge carrier mobilities, thereby contributing to elevated photovoltaic performance in OSCs.

The vaginal microbiome differs by race and contributes to inflammation by directly producing or consuming metabolites or by indirectly inducing host immune response, but its potential contributions to ovarian cancer (OC) disparities remain unclear. In this exploratory cross-sectional study, we examine whether vaginal fluid metabolites differ by race among patients with OC, if they are associated with systemic inflammation, and if such associations differ by race. Study participants were recruited from the Ovarian Cancer Epidemiology, Healthcare Access, and Disparities Study between March 2021 and September 2022. Our study included 36 study participants with ovarian cancer who provided biospecimens; 20 randomly selected White patients and all 16 eligible Black patients, aged 50-70 years. Acylcarnitines (n = 45 species), sphingomyelins (n = 34), and ceramides (n = 21) were assayed on cervicovaginal fluid, while four cytokines (IL-1ß, IL-10, TNF-α, and IL-6) were assayed on saliva. Seven metabolites showed >2-fold differences, two showed significant differences using the Wilcoxon rank-sum test (p < 0.05; False Discovery Rate > 0.05), and 30 metabolites had coefficients > ±0.1 in a Penalized Discriminant Analysis that achieved two distinct clusters by race. Arachidonoylcarnitine, the carnitine adduct of arachidonic acid, appeared to be consistently different by race. Thirty-eight vaginal fluid metabolites were significantly correlated with systemic inflammation biomarkers, irrespective of race. These findings suggest that vaginal fluid metabolites may differ by race, are linked with systemic inflammation, and hint at a potential role for mitochondrial dysfunction and sphingolipid metabolism in OC disparities. Larger studies are needed to verify these findings and further establish specific biological mechanisms that may link the vaginal microbiome with OC racial disparities.

Social memory is the ability to discriminate between familiar and unknown conspecifics. It is an important component of social cognition and is therefore essential for the establishment of social relationships. Although the neural circuit mechanisms underlying social memory encoding have been well investigated, little focus has been placed on the regulatory mechanisms of social memory processing. The dopaminergic system, originating from the midbrain ventral tegmental area (VTA), is a key modulator of cognitive function. This study aimed to illustrate its role in modulating social memory and explore the possible molecular mechanisms. Here, we show that the activation of VTA dopamine (DA) neurons is required for the formation, but not the retrieval, of social memory. Inhibition of VTA DA neurons before social interaction, but not 24 h after social interaction, significantly impaired social discrimination the following day. In addition, we showed that the activation of VTA DA neurons was regulated by the serine/threonine protein kinase liver kinase B1 (Lkb1). Deletion of Lkb1 in VTA DA neurons reduced the frequency of burst firing of dopaminergic neurons. Furthermore, Lkb1 plays an important role in regulating social behaviors. Both genetic and virus-mediated deletions of Lkb1 in the VTA of adult mice impaired social memory and subsequently attenuated social familiarization. Altogether, our results provide direct evidence linking social memory formation to the activation of VTA DA neurons in mice and illustrate the crucial role of Lkb1 in regulating VTA DA neuron function.

Cadmium (Cd) contamination of soil can strongly impact human health through the food chain due to uptake by crop plants. Inorganic immobilizing agents such as silicates and phosphates have been shown to effectively reduce Cd transfer from the soil to cereal crops. However, the effects of such agents on total Cd and its bioaccessibility in leafy vegetables are not yet known. Pak choi (Brassica rapa L. ssp. chinensis) was here selected as a representative leafy vegetable to be tested in pots to reveal the effects of silicate-phosphate amendments on soil Cd chemical fractions, total plant Cd levels, and plant bioaccessibility. The collected Cd contaminated soil was mixed with control soil at 1:0, 1:1, 1:4, 0:1 with a view to Cd high/moderate/mild/control soil samples. Three heavy metal-immobilizing agents: wollastonite (W), potassium tripolyphosphate (KTPP), and sodium hexametaphosphate (SHMP) were added to the soil in order to get four different treatment groups, i.e., control (CK), application of wollastonite alone (W), wollastonite co-applied with KTPP (WKTPP), application of wollastonite co-applied with SHMP (WSHMP) for remediation of soils with different levels of Cd contamination. All three treatments increased the effective bio-Cd concentration in the soils with varying levels of contamination, except for W under moderate and heavy Cd contamination. The total Cd concentration in pak choi plants grown in mildly Cd-contaminated soil was elevated by 86.2% after WKTPP treatment compared to the control treatment could function as a phytoremediation aid for mildly Cd-contaminated soil. Using an in vitro digestion method (physiologically based extraction test) combined with transmission electron microscopy, silicate and phosphorus agents were found to reduce the bioaccessibility of Cd in pak choi by up to 66.13% with WSHMP treatment. Application of silicate alone reduced soil bio-Cd concentration through the formation of insoluble complexes and silanol groups with Cd, but the addition of phosphate may have facilitated Cd translocation into pak choi by first co-precipitating with Ca in wollastonite while simultaneously altering soil pH. Meanwhile, wollastonite and phosphate treatments may cause Cd to be firmly enclosed in the cell wall in an insoluble form, reducing its translocation to edible parts and decreasing the bioaccessibility of Cd in pak choi. This study contributes to the mitigation of Cd bioaccessibility in pak choi by reducing soil Cd concentration through in situ remediation and will help us to extend the effects of wollastonite and phosphate on Cd bioaccessibility to other common vegetables. Therefore, this study thus reveals effective strategies for the remediation of soil Cd and the reduction of Cd bioaccessibility in crops based on two indicators: total Cd and Cd bioaccessibility. Our findings contribute to the development of methods for safer cultivation of commonly consumed leafy vegetables and for soil remediation.

Background: Thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysms (TAAAs) are rare but complicated aortic pathologies that can result in high morbidity and mortality. The whole-aorta hemodynamic characteristics of TAAA survivors remains unknown. This study sought to obtain a comprehensive view of flow hemodynamics of the whole aorta in patients with TAAA using four-dimensional flow (4D flow) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Methods: This study included patients who had experienced TAAA or abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) and age- and sex-matched volunteers who had attended China Hospital from December 2021 to December 2022 in West. Patients with unstable ruptured aneurysm or other cardiovascular diseases were excluded. 4D-flow MRI that covered the whole aorta was acquired. Both planar parameters [(regurgitation fraction (RF), peak systolic velocity (Vmax), overall wall shear stress (WSS)] and segmental parameters [pulse wave velocity (PWV) and viscous energy loss (VEL)] were generated during postprocessing. The Student's t-test or Mann-Whitney test was used to compare flow dynamics among the three groups. Results: A total of 11 patients with TAAA (mean age 53.2±11.9 years; 10 males), 19 patients with AAA (mean age 58.0±11.7 years; 16 males), and 21 controls (mean age 55.4±15.0 years; 19 males) were analyzed. The patients with TAAA demonstrated a significantly higher RF and lower Vmax in the aortic arch compared to healthy controls. The whole length of the aorta in patients with TAAA was characterized by lower WSS, predominantly in the planes of pulmonary artery bifurcation and the middle infrarenal planes (all P values <0.001). As for segmental hemodynamics, compared to controls, patients with TAAA had a significantly higher PWV in the thoracic aorta (TAAA: median 11.41 m/s, IQR 9.56-14.32 m/s; control: median 7.21 m/s, IQR 5.57-7.79 m/s; P<0.001) as did those with AAA (AAA: median 8.75 m/s, IQR 7.35-10.75 m/s; control: median 7.21 m/s, IQR 5.57-7.79 m/s; P=0.024). Moreover, a greater VEL was observed in the whole aorta and abdominal aorta in patients with TAAA. Conclusions: Patients with TAAA exhibited a stiffer aortic wall with a lower WSS and a greater VEL for the whole aorta, which was accompanied by a higher RF and lower peak velocity in the dilated portion of the aorta.

The efficient synthesis of γ-thiapyrones by a base-mediated Diels-Alder/retro-Diels-Alder reaction of α-pyrones with 5-H-1,2,3-thiadiazoles is reported herein. BACKGROUND: Disulfidptosis is a novel form of programmed cell death induced by high SLC7A11 expression under glucose starvation conditions, unlike other known forms of cell death. However, the roles of disulfidptosis in cancers have yet to be comprehensively well-studied, particularly in ccRCC. METHODS: The expression profiles and somatic mutation of DGs from the TCGA database were investigated. Two DGs clusters were identified by unsupervised consensus clustering analysis, and a disulfidptosis-related prognostic signature (DR score) was constructed. Furthermore, the predictive capacity of the DR score in prognosis was validated by several clinical cohorts. We also developed a nomogram based on the DR score and clinical features. Then, we investigated the differences in the clinicopathological information, TMB, tumor immune landscapes, and biological characteristics between the high- and low-risk groups. We evaluated whether the DR score is a robust tool for predicting immunotherapy response by the TIDE algorithm, immune checkpoint genes, submap analysis, and CheckMate immunotherapy cohort. RESULTS: We identified two DGs clusters with significant differences in prognosis, tumor immune landscapes, and clinical features. The DR score has been demonstrated as an independent risk factor by several clinical cohorts. The high-risk group patients had a more complicated tumor immune microenvironment and suffered from more tumor immune evasion in immunotherapy. Moreover, patients in the low-risk group had better prognosis and response to immunotherapy, particularly in anti-PD1 and anti-CTLA-4 inhibitors, which were verified in the CheckMate immunotherapy cohort. CONCLUSION: The DR score can accurately predict the prognosis and immunotherapy response and assist clinicians in providing a personalized treatment regime for ccRCC patients.

As the most stable phase of gallium oxide, ß-Ga2O3 can enable high-quality, large-size, low-cost, and controllably doped wafers by the melt method. It also features a bandgap of 4.7-4.9 eV, a critical electric field strength of 8 MV/cm, and a Baliga's figure of merit (BFOM) of up to 3444, which is 10 and 4 times higher than that of SiC and GaN, respectively, showing great potential for application in power devices. However, the lack of effective p-type Ga2O3 limits the development of bipolar devices. Most research has focused on unipolar devices, with breakthroughs in recent years. This review mainly summarizes the research progress fora different structures of ß-Ga2O3 power diodes and gives a brief introduction to their thermal management and circuit applications.

Background and Objectives: : A cochlear implant (CI) is an effective prosthetic device used to treat severe-to-profound hearing loss. The present study examined cognitive function in CI users by employing a web-based cognitive testing platform, i.e., BrainCheck, and explored the correlation between cognitive function and subjective evaluation of hearing. Subjects and Methods: : Forty-two CI users (mean age: 58.90 years) were surveyed in the subjective evaluation of hearing, and 20/42 participated in the BrainCheck cognitive tests (immediate recognition, Trail Making A, Trail Making B, Stroop, digit symbol substitution, and delayed recognition). As controls for cognitive function, young normal-hearing (YNH, mean age=23.83 years) and older normal-hearing (ONH, mean age=52.67 years) listener groups were subjected to Brain- Check testing. Results: : CI users exhibited poorer cognitive function than the normal hearing groups in all tasks except for immediate and delayed recognition. The highest percentage of CI users who had "possible" and "likely" cognitive impairment, based on BrainCheck scores (ranging from 0-200), was observed in tests assessing executive function. The composite cognitive score across domains tended to be related to subjective hearing (p=0.07). Conclusions: : The findings of the current study suggest that CI users had a higher likelihood of cognitive impairment in the executive function domain than in lower-level domains. BrianCheck online cognitive testing affords a convenient and effective tool to self-evaluate cognitive function in CI users.
