RESUMEN

Organic electrode materials are promising to be applied in sodium ion batteries (SIBs) due to their low cost and easily modified molecular structures. Nevertheless, low conductivity and high solubility in electrolytes still limit the development of organic electrodes. In this work, a carboxylate small molecule (BDTTS) based on tetrathiafulvalene is developed as anode material for SIBs. BDTTS has a large rigid π-conjugated planar structure, which may reduce solubility in the electrolyte, meanwhile facilitating charge transporting. Experimental results and theoretical calculations both support that apart from the four carbonyl groups, the sulfur atoms on tetrathiafulvalene also provide additional active sites during the discharge/charge process. Therefore, the additional active sites can well compensate for the capacity loss caused by the large molecular weight. The as-synthesized BDTTS electrode renders an excellent capacity of 230 mAh g-1 at a current density of 50 mA g-1 and an excellent long-life performance of 128 mAh g-1 at 2 C after 500 cycles. This work enriches the study on organic electrodes for high-performance SIBs and paves the way for further development and utilization of organic electrodes.

RESUMEN

Ceramics have many applications in mechanics, electronics, aerospace, and biomedicine because of their high mechanical strength, high-temperature resistance, and excellent chemical stability. Three-dimensional (3D) printing is a fast, efficient, and intelligent technology that has revolutionized the manufacturing of complex structural parts. Among many ceramic 3D printing technologies, photopolymerization-based 3D printing techniques print out molded ceramic components with high molding accuracy and surface finish and have received widespread attention. This article reviews the current research status and problems experienced by three mainstream ceramic photocuring technologies, namely stereoscopic, digital light processing, and two-photon polymerization.

RESUMEN

Lithium-sulfur batteries (LSBs) is a promising secondary battery system with high energy density and environment-friendly characteristics, however, the severe "shuttle effect" and poor conductivity usually lead to short service life and low initial capacity. Carbon Nanotubes (CNTs) with excellent conductivity and large quantity of cavities are promising host materials, whereas, the weak interaction between CNTs and polysulfides usually leads to serious shuttle effect in charge/discharge processes. Herein, thienothiophene-based covalent organic framework is uniformly wrapped on the outer surface of CNTs to form a nanocomposite TT-BOST@CNT. It is observed that the coexistence of the electron-rich S, O and the electron-deficient B atoms enables the effective adsorption of both Li+ and Sx2- in lithium polysulfides (LiPSs). Studies reveal that the B, O and S atoms endow the nanocomposite with good catalysis ability, whereby, conversion of the insoluble long-chain polysulfides to the soluble short-chain polysulfides is accelerated. Consequently, the TT-BOST@CNT/S cathode displays outstanding electrochemical performance, with a high discharge specific capacity of 1545 mAh g-1 at 0.2 C and a small attenuation rate of 0.035% per cycle in 1000 cycles at 1 C.

RESUMEN

Two-dimensional (2D) metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have been extensively investigated as oxygen evolution reaction (OER) materials because of their numerous advantages such as large specific surface areas, ultrathin thicknesses, well-defined active metal centers, and adjustable pore structures. Five Co-metal-organic frameworks, namely, [Co(L) (4.4'-bbidpe)H2O]n [YMUN 1 (YMUN for Youjiang Medical University for Nationalities)], {[Co2(L)2 (4.4'-bbibp)2]·[Co3(L) (4.4'-bbibp)]·DMAC}n (YMUN 2), [Co(L) (3,5-bip)]n (YMUN 3), [Co(L) (1,4-bimb)]n (YMUN 4), and [Co(L) (4.4'-bidpe)H2O]n (YMUN 5), were designed and fabricated from flexible dicarboxylic acid 1,3-bis(4'-carboxylphenoxy)benzene (H2L) and rigid/flexible imidazole ligands. Their frameworks consist of two-dimensional lamellar networks with a number of differences in their details. Their frameworks are discussed and compared, and their oxygen evolution reaction electrochemical activities and photocatalysis dye degradation properties are investigated.

RESUMEN

Previous studies suggest that triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) may have unique imaging characteristics, however, studies focused on the imaging characteristics of TNBC are still limited. The aim of the present study is to analyze the ultrasonic characteristics of TNBC and to provide more reliable information on imaging diagnosis of TNBC. This retrospective study was performed including 162 TNBC patients with 184 TNBC lesions. 174 non-TNBC cases with 196 lesions were used as the control group. The median size of TNBC lesions and non-TNBC lesions were 23 mm × 16 mm and 21 mm × 15 mm, respectively. The shape of most breast cancer lesions was irregular. However, 15.30% (28/183) TNBC lesions and 16.84% (33/196) non-TNBC lesions were oval-shaped. Most breast cancer lesions (79.78% TNBC & 85.71% non-TNBC) were ill-defined. In comparison to non-TNBC, the distinctive ultrasonic characteristics of TNBC were summarized as three features: calcifications, posterior acoustic, and blood flow. Microcalcifications was less common in non-TNBC. The remarkable posterior acoustic characteristics on TNBC were no posterior acoustic features (136, 73.91%). Avascular pattern (21.74%) was also more common in TNBC. The other feature of TNBC was markedly hypoechoic lesions (23.91%). The above-mentioned differences between TNBC and non-TNBC were significant. 93.48% TBNC and 94.39% non-TNBC lesions were in BI-RADS-US category of 4A-5. The results indicate that TNBC has some distinctive ultrasound characteristics. Ultrasound is a useful adjunct in early detection of breast cancer. A combination of ultrasound with mammography is excellent for detecting breast cancer.

RESUMEN

Objective: We aimed to explore the effect of blood lipid parameters on the risk of primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) by meta-analysis. Methods: The databases of PubMed, Scopus, CNKI, and Wanfang were systematically searched from inception to April 2022, and the relevant research literature was obtained, screened, and analyzed. Results: A total of 15 studies were included in this meta-analysis, including 11 reporting dyslipidemia and risk of POAG and 5 reporting specific lipid level and risk of POAG. Dyslipidemia increased the risk of POAG with an odd ratio (OR) of 1.25 (95% CI: 1.23, 1.26). Total triglyceride and total cholesterol were not related to the prevalence of POAG, but high-density lipoprotein cholesterol was significantly negatively correlated with the risk of POAG with an OR of 0.96 (95% CI: 0.94, 0.99). Conclusion: Dyslipidemia is a risk factor for POAG. Given the small sample size and significant interstudy heterogeneity, additional studies are needed to establish this conclusion.

RESUMEN

Primary aldosteronism (PA) is characterized by overproduction of aldosterone which can lead to various target organ damage, including the cardiovascular system. There are rare case reports about PA patients with severe heart failure. We report two male patients who were admitted because of severe cardiac systolic dysfunction induced by primary aldosteronism. Their cardiac function improved significantly after target therapy. Patient A was a 33 year old male with serum aldosterone concentration (PAC) 251.3 pg/ml, renin activity (PRA) 0.04 ng/ml/h, and aldosterone-to-renin ratio (ARR) 627.5. Computed tomography (CT) revealed a tumor in the left adrenal gland, while no dominant secretion function was found in the left side after the adrenal veins sampling (lateralization index 0.99). Bilateral adrenal hyperplasia was diagnosed and spironolactone was prescribed. Left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) was improved from 30% to 45% at the 11-month follow-up visit. Patient B was 43 years old male with PAC 185.5 pg/ml, PRA 0.46 ng/ml/h and ARR 403.2; Captopril challenge test was positive and a microadenoma (2.7*3.2*2.8 cm) was revealed on CT. Unilateral aldosterone-producing adenoma was diagnosed. His LVEF was improved from 30% to 51% at 12 months after laparoscopic adrenalectomy. Thus, it is important to screen for PA in patients with heart failure and launch the appropriate treatment for such patients.

RESUMEN

An easy prepared probe, BHMMP, was designed and synthesized, which displayed a significant fluorescence enhancement (over 38-fold) and obvious color change in the recognition of Al3+. The binding ratio of probe BHMMP to Al3+ was determined as 1:1, according to Job plot. The binding mechanism was fully clarified by the experiments, such as FT-IR spectrum, ESI-MS analysis, and 1H NMR titration. A DFT study further confirmed the binding mode of BHMMP to Al3+. The limit of detection (LOD) for Al3+ was determined as low as 0.70 µM, based on the fluorescence titration of BHMMP. Moreover, the results from real sample experiments, including real water samples, test papers, and cell images, well-demonstrated that BHMMP was capable of sensing Al3+ in environmental and biological systems.

RESUMEN

Internal electric field (IEF) at heterojunction interfaces can separate photoexcited charge carriers and promote photocatalytic performance. Here we have modified WO3 nanoplates with carbon dots (CDs) and constructed an interfacial IEF directing from CDs to WO3 with assistance of their remarkably different work functions. Such electric field drove photoexcited electrons to transport towards CDs and retained photoexcited holes to stay at WO3, achieving electron/hole spatial separation. H2O preferred chemisorption on the five-coordinated W atoms of WO3 with an elongated H-O bond and bent H-O-H angle, which allowed the activation of H2O and favorable production of ·OH radicals. The WO3/CDs (WC1) showed a superior photocatalytic activity for visible-light photooxidation of HCHO and CH3COCH3 with CO2 production rate of 411 and 188 µmol g-1 h-1, respectively, outperforming most of WO3-based photocatalysts. The enhanced photocatalytic performance correlated with the IEF-induced charge separation, favorable ·OH production and VOCs chemisorption. Our work confirms the role of CDs cocatalyst in the photocatalytic oxidation of VOCs, which will inspire enthusiasm to develop more advanced heterojunction photocatalysts involving carbon nanomaterials.

RESUMEN

Al3+ and H2S play essential roles in various physiological processes. However, excess Al3+ and H2S are harmful to health. Therefore, it is necessary to design a sensitive method for the detection of Al3+ and H2S. In this work, compound L was developed based on salicylaldoxime and 4-aminobenzamide. L displayed aggregation-induced emission (AIE) characteristics in the solid state due to a unique dimer formation via intermolecular hydrogen bonds. In addition, L could serve as a multi-responsive fluorescence probe for Al3+ based on the coordination reaction in a MeOH/H2O (9/1, v/v, pH = 7.4) medium and for H2S based on the addition reaction in EtOH/H2O (7/3, v/v, pH = 7.4) solution. In addition, L showed a fluorescence colorimetric response to Al3+ in the solid state. Furthermore, L was applied to detect Al3+ and H2S in actual water samples.

RESUMEN

In this work, four novel metal-organic frameworks [Cd(bipa)] n (1), {[Zn2(bipa)2]·2C2H5OH} n (2), {[Co(bipa)]·C2H5OH} n (3), {[Ni(bipa)2]·2DMA} n (4), (H2bipa = 5-(benzimidazole-1-yl)isophthalic acid) were successfully synthesized under solvothermal conditions. Complexes 1-4 were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction, elemental analysis, infrared spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analysis. Interestingly, the coordination patterns and 3D network structures of complexes 1-3 are very similar, while complex 4 is relatively unique. Complexes 1-2 exhibit potential fluorescent properties. Complex 1 can selectively and sensitively detect trace Fe(iii) and Cr(vi) in water by fluorescence quenching detection, and the quenching mechanism is further discussed.

RESUMEN

Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) is an extreme form of inflammatory arthritis which always leads to bony fusion of vertebral and chronic pain of back. A lot of genes including interleukin, matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), and endoplasmic reticulum aminopeptidase were found associated with AS. MMP family members were involved in the autoimmune disease and orthopedic diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis, while few studies concentrated on the correlation between single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in MMP and AS. In addition, there is no report on the relationship between MMP-8 and AS. To investigate the association between SNPs in MMP-8 and AS, we recruited 268 patients with AS and 654 healthy people to conduct a case-control study. Five SNPs including rs3740938, rs2012390, rs1940475, rs11225394, and rs11225395 of MMP-8 gene were genotyped. It was found rs3740938 of MMP-8 was associated with an increased risk of AS under the dominant model and additive model after adjustment for gender and age by performing logistic regression analysis (odds ratio [OR] = 1.49, 95% confidence interval [CI] = 1.02-2.18, P = .038; OR = 1.37, 95% CI = 1.01-1.87, P = .042, respectively). Moreover, haplotype "GGTCA" was associated with an increased risk of AS without adjustment for age and gender (OR = 1.75, 95% CI = 1.05-2.92, P = .032), while no positive result was found after adjustment for age and gender. Based on our results, our study indicates significant association between SNPs of MMP-8 and AS risk in a Chinese Han population and these results provide the first evidence that MMP-8 is correlated with AS.

RESUMEN

AIM: G1896A mutation in precore or A1762T/G1764A mutations in basal core promoter are suspected to be responsible for patients with detectable level of HBV DNA in serum after seroconversion from HBeAg to anti-HBe. However, G1896A variant has impaired, while A1762T/G1764A variant may have intact replication ability. They themselves or their coexistence status may play different roles in such meaningless seroconversion. For these reasons, the significances of these two types of mutations were comparatively investigated in this study. METHODS: One hundred and sixty-five sera with positive anti-HBe and HBV DNA were collected from different patients. Mutations of G1896A and A1762T/G1764A among these serum samples were detected using competitively differentiated PCR. HBV DNA was demonstrated using real-time quantitative PCR. RESULTS: G1896A and/or A1762T/G1764A mutations were detected in 89.1% (147/165) out of patients with detectable HBV DNA in serum after HBeAg-to-anti-HBe seroconversion. The positive rate of G1896A variants was significantly higher than that of A1762T/G1764A mutations (77.6% vs 50.3%, chi2 = 26.61, P<0.01). The coexistence positive rate of these two types of mutations was 38.8% (64/165). Coexistence mutations were found in 77.1% (64/83) out of sera with A1762T/G1764A mutations, and in 50.0% (64/128) out of sera with G1896A mutation. Compared with variants with G1896A mutation only, the coexistence mutations were predominant in patients with high level of serum HBV DNA, and related to higher total bilirubin, lower serum albumin and progressive liver diseases. CONCLUSION: The coexistence of G1896A mutation and A1762T/G1764A mutations is very common, and responsible for the major cases with high level of HBV DNA in serum and progressive liver diseases after HBeAg-to-anti-HBe seroconversion. This coexistence mutation variant may have higher pathogenicity and replication ability.
