RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: Our study aimed to determine whether there exists an association between low-grade systemic inflammation, as measured by serum C-reactive protein (CRP), and the risk of lower-extremity deep venous thrombosis (LEDVT) in patients with primary intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). METHODS: This observational study was retrospectively conducted on patients with primary ICH who were presented to two tertiary medical centers between January 2021 and August 2022. The primary outcome was detecting LEDVT occurrence within 14 days from the onset of the acute ICH episode. Weighted logistic regression and restricted cubic spline models were employed to estimate the association between CRP and LEDVT following 1:1 propensity score matching (PSM). RESULTS: Of the 538 patients with primary ICH who met the inclusion criteria, 76 (14.13%) experienced LEDVT. Based on the cut-off levels of CRP measured upon admission from the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve, patients with primary ICH were categorized into two groups: (i) CRP < 1.59 mg/L and (ii) CRP ≥ 1.59 mg/L. After 1:1 PSM, the LEDVT events occurred in 24.6% of patients with CRP ≥ 1.59 mg/L and 4.1% of patients with CRP < 1.59 mg/L (P < 0.001). ROC curve revealed the area under the ROC curve of 0.717 [95% confidence interval (CI) 0.669-0.761, P < 0.001] for CRP to predict LEDVT with a sensitivity of 85.71% and specificity of 56.29%. After adjusting for all confounding variables, the occurrence of LEDVT in ICH patients with higher CRP levels (≥ 1.59 mg/L) was 10.8 times higher compared to those with lower CRP levels (95% CI 4.5-25.8, P < 0.001). A nonlinear association was observed between CRP and an increased risk of LEDVT in the fully adjusted model (P for overall < 0.001, P for nonlinear = 0.001). The subgroup results indicated a consistent positive link between CRP and LEDVT events following primary ICH. CONCLUSIONS: Higher initial CRP levels (CRP as a dichotomized variable) in patients with primary ICH are significantly associated with an increased risk of LEDVT and may help identify high-risk patients with LEDVT. Clinicians should be vigilant to enable early and effective intervention in patients at high risk of LEDVT.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: The purpose was to explore the optimal proportion of GWG in Chinese singleton pregnant women according to Chinese specific body mass index (BMI) categories. METHODS: A retrospective cohort study with 16,977 singleton pregnant women was conducted. Among the including subjects, 2/3 of which were randomly imported into the training set for calculating the optimal GWG ranges using the percentile method, the Odd Ratio (OR) method, and the combined risk curve method. And another third of the subjects were used to evaluate the GWG ranges obtained. The detection rate of adverse outcomes of pregnant women was used to evaluate the applicability of GWG obtained. The range corresponding to the lowest detection rate is the recommended GWG range in this study. RESULTS: According to the percentile method, the suitable GWG of pregnant women with underweight, normal weight, overweight or obesity before pregnancy were 12.0 ∼ 17.5 kg, 11.0 ∼ 17.0 kg, and 9.0 ∼ 15.5 kg, respectively. According to the OR method, the suitable GWG range were 11 ∼ 18 kg, 7 ∼ 11 kg, and 6 ∼ 8 kg, respectively. According to the combined risk curve method, the suitable GWG range were 11.2 ∼ 17.2 kg, 3.6 ∼ 11.5 kg, and - 5.2 ∼ 7.0 kg, respectively. When the GWG for different BMI categories were 11 ∼ 18 kg, 7 ∼ 11 kg, and 6 ∼ 8 kg, the pregnant women have the lowest detection rate of adverse maternal and infant outcomes. CONCLUSIONS: The recommended GWG based on this study for underweight, normal, overweight or obese pregnant women were 11 ∼ 18 kg, 7 ∼ 11 kg, and 6 ∼ 8 kg, respectively.

RESUMEN

Small molecular heat shock proteins (sHSPs) belong to the HSP family of molecular chaperones. Under high-temperature stress, they can prevent the aggregation of irreversible proteins and maintain the folding of denatured proteins to enhance heat resistance. In this study, the CmHSP17.9-1 and CmHSP17.9-2 genes, which were cloned from chrysanthemum (Chrysanthemum×morifolium 'Jinba') by homologous cloning, had a complete open reading frame of 480 bp each, encoding 159 amino acids. The protein subcellular localization analysis showed that CmHSP17.9-1 and CmHSP17.9-2 were located in the cytoplasm and mostly aggregated in granules, especially around the nucleus. Real-time quantitative PCR (qRT-PCR) analysis showed that the relative expression level of the CmHSP17.9-1 and CmHSP17.9-2 genes was highest in the terminal buds of the chrysanthemum, followed by the leaves. CmHSP17.9-1 and CmHSP17.9-2 overex-pression vectors were constructed and used to transform the chrysanthemum; overexpression of these genes led to the chrysanthemum phenotypes being less affected by high-temperature, and the antioxidant capacity was enhanced. The results showed that chrysanthemum with overex-pression of the CmHSP17.9-1 and CmHSP17.9-2 genes had stronger tolerance than the wild type chrysanthemum after high-temperature treatment or some degree of heat exercise, and overex-pression of the CmHSP17.9-1 gene led to stronger heat resistance than that of the CmHSP17.9-2 gene, providing an important theoretical basis for the subsequent molecular breeding and pro-duction applications of chrysanthemum.

RESUMEN

The corticospinal tract (CST) is the principal neural pathway responsible for conducting voluntary movement in the vertebrate nervous system. Netrin-1 is a well-known guidance molecule for midline crossing of commissural axons during embryonic development. Families with inherited Netrin-1 mutations display congenital mirror movements (CMM), which are associated with malformations of pyramidal decussation in most cases. Here, we investigated the role of Netrin-1 in CST formation by generating conditional knockout (CKO) mice using a Gfap-driven Cre line. A large proportion of CST axons spread laterally in the ventral medulla oblongata, failed to decussate and descended in the ipsilateral spinal white matter of Ntn1Gfap CKO mice. Netrin-1 mRNA was expressed in the ventral ventricular zone (VZ) and midline, while Netrin-1 protein was transported by radial glial cells to the ventral medulla, through which CST axons pass. The level of transported Netrin-1 protein was significantly reduced in Ntn1Gfap CKO mice. In addition, Ntn1Gfap CKO mice displayed increased symmetric movements. Our findings indicate that VZ-derived Netrin-1 deletion leads to an abnormal trajectory of the CST in the spinal cord due to the failure of CST midline crossing and provides novel evidence supporting the idea that the Netrin-1 signalling pathway is involved in the pathogenesis of CMM.

RESUMEN

Background: Childhood obesity tends to persist into adulthood, predisposing individuals to cardiometabolic risk (CMR). This study aims to investigate the mediating role of cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) in the associations between multiple fatness indicators and individual CMR markers and clustered CMR-score, and explore sex differences. Methods: We recruited 1,557 children (age: 8 to 10, male/female: 52.7%/47.3%) in September 2022 in Ningbo, China. Physical examinations, overnight fasting blood test, and CRF was evaluated. The CMR-score was calculated by summing age- and sex-specific z scores of four CMR markers, including mean arterial blood pressure, triglycerides, the total cholesterol to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio, and homeostatic model assessment for insulin resistance. Generalized linear mixed models were used to identify the associations, mediation analyses were performed to dissect the function of CRF. Results: Partial correlation analyses revealed positive associations between high fatness indicators (including body mass index [BMI], BMI z score, body fat mass index [BFMI] and waist-to-height ratio [WHtR]) and increased CMR markers, whereas high CRF was associated with decreased CMR markers (all P < 0.05). In the mediation analyses, CRF emerged as a partial mediator, attenuating the relationship between four fatness indicators and CMR-score. Specifically, CRF mediated 6.5%, 7.7%, 5.3%, and 12.5% of the association between BMI, BMI z score, BFMI, WHtR and CMR-score (all P < 0.001). And the mediating effects of CRF between WHtR and four individual CMR markers was particularly robust, ranging from 10.4% to 21.1% (all P < 0.05). What's more, CRF mediates the associations between WHtR and CMR-score more pronounced in girls than boys with a mediation effect size of 17.3% (P < 0.001). Conclusion: In Chinese children, CRF partially mitigates the adverse effects of fatness on CMR, underscoring the significance of enhancing CRF in children.

RESUMEN

In this study, the design and asymmetric synthesis of a series of chiral targets of orientational chirality were conducted by taking advantage of N-sulfinylimine-assisted nucleophilic addition and modified Sonogashira catalytic coupling systems. Orientational isomers were controlled completely using alkynyl/alkynyl levers [C(sp)-C(sp) axis] with absolute configuration assignment determined by X-ray structural analysis. The key structural element of the resulting orientational chirality is uniquely characterized by remote through-space blocking. Forty examples of multi-step synthesis were performed, with modest to good yields and excellent orientational selectivity. Several chiral orientational amino targets are attached with scaffolds of natural and medicinal products, showing potential pharmaceutical and medical applications in the future.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the safety and effectiveness of a stepwise interventional strategy for the removal of adherent totally implanted central venous access port catheters, consisting of a guidewire support, antegrade coaxial separation, and retrograde coaxial separation with increasing technical complexity. METHODS: This study has a retrospective design. Thirty-two patients who had failed routine removal of the port catheter and were then transferred to interventional radiology between November 2017 and December 2023 were reviewed. The technical success and complication rates were recorded. RESULTS: All adherent catheters were successfully removed without catheter fragmentation, using guidewire support (n = 21), antegrade coaxial separation (n = 5), and retrograde coaxial separation (n = 6). The technical success rate was 100%, and no complications occurred. CONCLUSION: The proposed stepwise interventional strategy successfully removed adherent port catheters, with good safety and high effectiveness. It appeared to reduce the incidence of catheter fracture during the removal of adherent totally implantable central venous access port catheters.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Loneliness and isolation are associated with multiple cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), but there is a lack of research on whether they were causally linked. We conducted a Mendelian Randomization (MR) study to explore causal relationships between loneliness and isolation and multiple CVDs. METHODS: Single nucleotide polymorphisms associated with loneliness and isolation were identified from a genome-wide association study (GWAS) of 455,364 individuals of European ancestry in the IEU GWAS database. Summary data for 15 CVDs were also obtained from the IEU GWAS database. We used three MR methods including inverse variance weighting, MR-Egger, and weighted median estimation to assess the causal effect of exposure on outcomes. Cochran's Q test and MR-Egger intercept test were used to evaluate the heterogeneity and pleiotropy. RESULTS: MR analysis showed that loneliness and isolation were significantly associated with essential hypertension (OR = 1.07, 95% CI: 1.03-1.12), atherosclerotic heart disease (OR = 1.04; 95% CI: 1.02-1.06), myocardial infarction (OR = 1.02; 95% CI: 1-1.04) and angina (OR = 1.04; 95% CI =1.02-1.06). No heterogeneity and pleiotropy effects were found in this study. CONCLUSIONS: Causal relationship of loneliness and isolation with CVDs were found in this study.

RESUMEN

The first photocatalytic trichloromethyl radical-triggered annulative reactions of amide-linked 1,7-diynes with polyhalomethanes were established for the flexible assembly of functionalized quinolin-2(1H)-ones with generally acceptable yields. With the installation of the aryl group (R1) into the alkynyl moiety, C-center radical-initiated Kharasch-type addition/nucleophilic substitution/elimination cascade to produce quinolin-2(1H)-ones-incorporating gem-dihaloalkene, whereas three examples of polyhalogenated quinolin-2(1H)-ones were afforded when amide-linked 1,7-diynes bearing two terminal alkyne units were subjected to BrCX3 by exploiting dry acetonitrile as a solvent.

RESUMEN

The cotton rose (Hibiscus mutabilis) is a plant species commonly found in tropical and subtropical regions. It is remarkably resilient to waterlogging stress; however, the underlying mechanism behind this trait is yet unknown. This study used hypoxia-tolerant "Danbanhong" (DBH) and more hypoxia-sensitive "Yurui" (YR) genotypes and compared their morpho-physiological and transcriptional responses to hypoxic conditions. Notably, DBH had a higher number of adventitious roots (20.3) compared to YR (10.0), with longer adventitious roots in DBH (18.3 cm) than in YR (11.2 cm). Furthermore, the formation of aerenchyma was 3-fold greater in DBH compared to YR. Transcriptomic analysis revealed that DBH had more rapid transcriptional responses to hypoxia than YR. Identification of a greater number of differentially expressed genes (DEGs) for aerenchyma, adventitious root formation and development, and energy metabolism in DBH supported that DBH had better morphological and transcriptional adaptation than YR. DEG functional enrichment analysis indicated the involvement of variety-specific biological processes in adaption to hypoxia. Plant hormone signaling transduction, MAPK signaling pathway and carbon metabolism played more pronounced roles in DBH, whereas the ribosome genes were specifically induced in YR. These results show that effective multilevel coordination of adventitious root development and aerenchyma, in conjunction with plant hormone signaling and carbon metabolism, is required for increased hypoxia tolerance. This study provides new insights into the characterization of morpho-physiological and transcriptional responses to hypoxia in H. mutabilis, shedding light on the molecular mechanisms of its adaptation to hypoxic environments.

RESUMEN

The photocatalyzed radical-triggered thio/selenosulfonylation-bicyclization of indole-tethered 1,6-enynes has been established for the first time, enabling the synthesis of various previously unreported thio/selenosulfonylated benzo[c]pyrrolo[1,2,3-lm]carbazoles with moderate to good yields under mild conditions. The reaction pathway was proposed, consisting of energy transfer, homolytic cleavage, radical addition, 5-exo-dig, radical coupling, and a Mallory reaction cascade. This approach exhibits a wide substrate compatibility and excellent tolerability toward various functional groups and is characterized by its remarkable efficiency in both bond formation and annulation.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Dapagliflozin, a sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitor, is an epochal oral antidiabetic drug that improves cardiorenal outcomes. However, the effect of early dapagliflozin intervention on left ventricular (LV) remodeling in patients with type 2 diabetes free from cardiovascular disease remains unclear. METHODS AND RESULTS: The ELUCIDATE trial was a prospective, open-label, randomized, active-controlled study that enrolled 76 patients with asymptomatic type 2 diabetes with LV ejection fraction ≥50%, randomized to the dapagliflozin 10 mg/day add-on or standard-of-care group. Speckle-tracking echocardiography-based measurements of the cardiac global longitudinal strain were performed at baseline and 24 weeks after treatment initiation. Patients who received dapagliflozin had a greater reduction in LV dimension (1.68 mm [95% CI, 0.53-2.84]; P=0.005), LV end-systolic volume (5.51 mL [95% CI, 0.86-10.17]; P=0.021), and LV mass index (4.25 g/m2.7 [95% CI, 2.42-6.09]; P<0.0001) compared with standard of care in absolute mean differences. Dapagliflozin add-on therapy led to a significant LV global longitudinal strain increment (0.74% [95% CI, 1.00-0.49]; P<0.0001) and improved LV systolic and early diastolic strain rates (0.27/s [95% CI, 0.17-0.60]; and 0.11/s [95% CI, 0.06-0.16], respectively; both P<0.0001) but not in global circumferential strain. No significant changes were found in insulin resistance, NT-proBNP (N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide) levels, or other biomarkers at 6 months after the dapagliflozin administration. CONCLUSIONS: Dapagliflozin add-on therapy could lead to more favorable cardiac remodeling accompanied by enhanced cardiac mechanical function among patients with asymptomatic type 2 diabetes. Our findings provide evidence of the efficacy of dapagliflozin use for the primary prevention of diabetic cardiomyopathy. RESUMEN

General and convenient visible-light-promoted alkylsulfonylation and cyanoalkylsulfonylation of MBH adducts have been developed through the multicomponent insertion of sulfur dioxide, enabling the assembly of two C-S bonds to generate structurally diverse allylic alkylsulfones (43 examples in total). The reaction of MBH adducts with potassium alkyltrifluoroborates and 1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane bis(sulfur dioxide) adduct afforded sulfones with generally good yields. Notably, the addition of N,N,N',N'-tetramethylethylenediamine as a base into the photocatalytic system led to yielding an alkyl sulfonyl unit and cyano group-anchored trisubstituted alkenes by utilizing cycloketone oxime esters as C-radical precursors. Both of these reactions have constructed two C-S bonds, and all desired products were obtained in moderate to excellent yields with complete stereospecificity.

RESUMEN

Despite the previous preparation of aconine hydrochloride monohydrate (AHM), accurate determination of the crystal's composition was hindered by severely disordered water molecules within the crystal. In this study, we successfully prepared a new dihydrate form of the aconine hydrochloride [C25H42NO9+Cl-·2(H2O), aconine hydrochloride dihydrate (AHD)] and accurately refined all water molecules within the AHD crystal. Our objective is to elucidate both water-chloride and water-water interactions in the AHD crystal. The crystal structure of AHD was determined at 136 K using X-ray diffraction and a multipolar atom model was constructed by transferring charge-density parameters to explore the topological features of key short contacts. By comparing the crystal structures of dihydrate and monohydrate forms, we have observed that both AHD and AHM exhibit identical aconine cations, except for variations in the number of water molecules present. In the AHD crystal, chloride anions and water molecules serve as pivotal connecting hubs to establish three-dimensional hydrogen bonding networks and one-dimensional hydrogen bonding chain; both water-chloride and water-water interactions assemble supramolecular architectures. The crystal packing of AHD exhibits a complete reversal in the stacking order compared to AHM, thereby emphasizing distinct disparities between them. Hirshfeld surface analysis reveals that H···Cl- and H···O contacts play a significant role in constructing the hydrogen bonding network and chain within these supramolecular architectures. Furthermore, topological analysis and electrostatic interaction energy confirm that both water-chloride and water-water interactions stabilize supramolecular architectures through electrostatic attraction facilitated by H···Cl- and H···O contacts. Importantly, these findings are strongly supported by the existing literature evidence. Consequently, navigating these water-chloride and water-water interactions is imperative for ensuring storage and safe processing of this pharmaceutical compound.

RESUMEN

Peripheral artery disease (PAD) shares common clinical risk factors, for example, endothelial dysfunction, with preserved ejection fraction (LVEF) heart failure (HFpEF). Whether PAD is associated with preclinical systolic dysfunction and higher HF risk among individuals presenting preserved LVEF remains uncertain. We retrospectively included outpatients with at least one known or established cardiovascular (CV) risk factor with LVEF ≥ 50%. Patients were categorized into high risk and low risk of developing PAD (PAD vs Non-PAD) by ankle-brachial index (ABI) (≤ 0.90 or > 1.4) and further stratified based on their history of HFpEF (HFpEF vs. Non-HFpEF), resulting in the formation of four distinct strata. Preclinical systolic dysfunction was defined using dedicated speckle-tracking algorithm. A total of 2130 consecutive patients were enrolled in the study, with a median follow-up of 4.4 years. The analysis revealed a higher prevalence of high risk of developing PAD in patients with HFpEF compared to those without HFpEF (25.1% vs. 9.4%). Both high risk of developing PAD and HFpEF were independently associated with preclinical systolic dysfunction (global longitudinal strain, GLS ≥ - 18%) (odds ratio, OR: 1.38; 95% confidence interval, CI: 1.03-1.86). In comparison to patients at low risk of developing PAD without HFpEF (Non-PAD/Non-HFpEF group), those categorized as having a high risk of developing PAD with HFpEF (PAD/HFpEF group) exhibited the most impaired GLS and a heightened susceptibility to heart failure hospitalization (hazard ratio, HR: 6.51; 95% CI: 4.43-9.55), a twofold increased risk of all-cause mortality (HR: 2.01; 95% CI: 1.17-3.38), cardiovascular mortality (HR: 2.44; 95% CI: 1.08-5.51), and non-cardiovascular mortality (HR: 1.78; 95% CI: 0.82-3.84). A high risk of developing PAD was strongly linked to impaired preclinical systolic function and an increased likelihood for subsequent hospitalization for HF, all-cause mortality, CV mortality and non-CV mortality. There is a clear need for preventive strategies aimed at reducing hospitalizations for HF and mortality in this high-risk population.

RESUMEN

Background: Demographics of pulmonary hypertension (PH) has changed a lot over the past forty years. Several recent registries noted an increase in mean age of PH but only a few of them investigated the characteristics of elderly patients. Thus, we aimed to analyze the characteristics of PH in such a population in this study. Methods: This multicenter study enrolled patients diagnosed with PH in group 1, 3, 4, and 5 consecutively from January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2020. A total of 490 patients was included, and patients were divided into three groups by age (≤45 years, 45-65 years, and >65 years). Results: The mean age of PH patients diagnosed with PH was 55.3 ± 16.3 years of age. There was higher proportion of elderly patients classified as group 3 PH (≤45: 1.3, 45-65: 4.5, >65: 8.1 %; p = 0.0206) and group 4 PH (≤45: 8.4, 45-65: 14.5, >65: 31.6 %; p < 0.0001) than young patients. Elderly patients had shorter 6-min walking distance (6 MWD) (≤45 vs. >65, mean difference, 77.8 m [95% confidence interval (CI), 2.1-153.6 m]), lower mean pulmonary arterial pressure (mPAP) (≤45 vs. >65, mean difference, 10.8 mmHg [95% CI, 6.37-15.2 mmHg]), and higher pulmonary arterial wedge pressure (PAWP) (≤45 vs. 45-65, mean difference, -2.1 mmHg [95% CI, -3.9 to -0.3 mmHg]) compared to young patients. Elderly patients had a poorer exercise capacity despite lower mPAP level compared to young population, but they received combination therapy less frequently compared to young patients (triple therapy in group 1 PH, ≤45: 16.7, 45-65: 11.3, >65: 3.8 %; p = 0.0005). Age older than 65 years was an independent predictor of high mortality for PH patients. Conclusions: Elderly PH patients possess unique hemodynamic profiles and epidemiologic patterns. They had higher PAWP, lower mPAP, and received combination therapy less frequently. Moreover, ageing is a predictor of high mortality for PH patients. Exercise capacity-hemodynamics mismatch and inadequate treatment are noteworthy in the approach of elderly population with PH.

RESUMEN

Objectives: The online behavior of online users has taken on complex and diverse characteristics, and posting product reviews on e-commerce platforms is no exception. In fact, reviews contain rich and multi-dimensional discrete emotional information, and whether there is a relationship between the expression of these different discrete emotions and the time interval between product purchase and review posting as well as their related characteristics are the issues that this study needs to analyze and solve in depth. Methods: Based on the OCC model (named after three proposers) of psychological emotional cognitive evaluation theory as the basis for emotion classification, the study used the massive amounts of Chinese reviews of mobile phones on the Chinese e-commerce platform Jingdong Mall as the research object, applied supervised machine learning methods to classify discrete emotions, and constructed a large corpus containing satisfaction, disappointment, admiration, reproach, love, and hate; then the study delved into the distribution and behavioral dynamics characteristics of consumers' comments containing the different discrete emotions at different "purchase-comment" time intervals. Results: The results showed that the first peak of the distribution curves of the six discrete emotions at different "purchase-comment" time intervals occurs on the first day after purchase and then decreases gradually but at different rates. The three curves for satisfaction, love, and hate emotions also show a second peak on the eleventh day, which is more similar to the bimodal distribution, implying that the corresponding product reviews are more objective. In addition, the distribution of reviews containing the six discrete emotions at different "purchase-comment" time intervals follows a power-law distribution and has the temporal characteristics of human behavioral dynamics, that is, "strong paroxysms and weak memory". However, the reviews containing the admiration and reproach emotions were most intensively written by consumers after the purchase, indicating that the service provided by the seller, logistics, and e-commerce platform stimulates more consumers to give quick responses and detailed reviews. Conclusion: This study is not only of great significance for exploring the internal mechanisms of consumer discrete emotional expression but also provides important decision-making references for potential consumer purchasing decisions, product updates for developers, marketing strategy formulation for marketing teams, and service improvement for sellers, logistics companies, and e-commerce platforms.

RESUMEN

Objective To analyze the correlations between platelet-related parameters and the incidence of anxiety and depression in the patients undergoing peritoneal dialysis(PD),and evaluate the efficacy of the parameters in the diagnosis of anxiety and depression in PD patients. Methods A total of 245 patients undergoing PD in the First Affiliated Hospital of Hebei North University from September 2022 to February 2023 were enrolled. The generalized anxiety scale(GAD-7) and the patient health questionnaire(PHQ-9) were used to evaluate the anxiety and depression of the patients, respectively. The personal information and biochemical indicators of the patients were collected, and the platelet count(PLT),mean platelet volume(MPV),and platelet distribution width(PDW) were measured.Logistic regression was adopted to analyze the relationships of platelet-related parameters with anxiety and depression in PD patients. Results Among the 245 patients undergoing PD,the incidences of anxiety and depression were 15.9% and 38.0%,respectively.There were differences in the dialysis period(Z=-2.358,P=0.018;Z=-3.079,P=0.002),MPV(Z=-4.953,P<0.001;Z=-7.878,P<0.001),and PDW(Z=-4.587,P<0.001;Z=-7.367,P<0.001) between the anxiety group and the non-anxiety group as well as between the depression group and the non-depression group. The correlation analysis showed that MPV(r=0.358,P<0.001;r=0.489,P<0.001) and PDW(r=0.340,P<0.001;r=0.447,P<0.001) were positively correlated with anxiety and depression in the patients undergoing PD.The Logistic regression model showed that MPV(P=0.022,P=0.011),PDW(P=0.041,P=0.018),and dialysis period(P=0.011,P=0.030) were independent risk factors for the anxiety and depressive state in PD patients. The areas under the receiver operating characteristic curve of MPV in the diagnosis of anxiety and depression in PD patients were 0.750 and 0.800,respectively,and those of PDW were 0.732 and 0.780,respectively. Conclusion MPV and PDW have high efficacy in the diagnosis of anxiety and depression associated with PD and can be used as objective indicators to evaluate the anxiety and depression in the patients undergoing PD.

RESUMEN

The escalating use of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) across various sectors for their broad-spectrum antimicrobial capabilities, has raised concern over their potential ecotoxicological effects on aquatic life. This study explores the impact of AgNPs (50 µg/L) on the marine clam Ruditapes philippinarum, with a particular focus on its gills and digestive glands. We adopted an integrated approach that combined in vivo exposure, biochemical assays, and transcriptomic analysis to evaluate the toxicity of AgNPs. The results revealed substantial accumulation of AgNPs in the gills and digestive glands of R. philippinarum, resulting in oxidative stress and DNA damage, with the gills showing more severe oxidative damage. Transcriptomic analysis further highlights an adaptive up-regulation of peroxisome-related genes in the gills responding to AgNP-induxed oxidative stress. Additionally, there was a noteworthy enrichment of differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in key biological processes, including ion binding, NF-kappa B signaling and cytochrome P450-mediated metabolism of xenobiotics. These insights elucidate the toxicological mechanisms of AgNPs to R. philippinarum, emphasizing the gill as a potential sensitive organ for monitoring emerging nanopollutants. Overall, this study significantly advances our understanding of the mechanisms driving nanoparticle-induced stress responses in bivalves and lays the groundwork for future investigations into preventing and treating such pollutants in aquaculture.
