RESUMEN

We designed and synthesized two new ionic thermally activated delayed fluorescent (TADF) emitters that are charged analogues of a known multiresonant TADF (MR-TADF) compound, DiKTa. The emission of the charged derivatives is red-shifted compared to the parent compound. For instance, DiKTa-OBuIm emits in the green (λPL = 499 nm, 1 wt % in mCP) while DiKTa-DPA-OBuIm emits in the red (λPL = 577 nm, 1 wt % in mCP). In 1 wt % mCP films, both emitters showed good photoluminescence quantum yields of 71% and 61%, and delayed lifetimes of 316.6 µs and 241.7 µs, respectively, for DiKTa-OBuIm and DiKTa-DPA-OBuIm, leading to reverse intersystem crossing rates of 2.85 × 103 s-1 and 3.04 × 103 s-1. Light-emitting electrochemical cells were prepared using both DiKTa-OBuIm and DiKTa-DPA-OBuIm as active emitters showing green (λmax = 534 nm) and red (λmax = 656 nm) emission, respectively.

RESUMEN

The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between health anxiety and the perceptions and attitudes of the individuals living in Turkey during COVID-19 outbreak. This research was carried out using a volunteer-based internet data collection technique with a sample of 448 people, aged between 15 and 71, who were reached by a simple random sampling method. In the study, the participants were asked to fill out "The Personal Information Form," "the Health Anxiety Scale," and "the Perception and Attitudes towards Coronavirus (COVID-19) Outbreak Questionnaire" to determine their perceptions and attitudes toward coronavirus disease. For the analysis of the data, SPSS 25.0 program was used. In the study, a positive relationship was found between the participants' health anxiety and disease perception, causes perception, and avoidance behavior, and a negative relationship with control perception. It was detected that as the age of the participants increased, their health anxiety levels, and their behavior to avoid coronavirus disease decreased. Also, as the income of the participants increased, their health anxiety levels decreased. Lastly, the level of women's avoidance of personal contact and their health anxiety during the pandemic were significantly higher than men. This study revealed that the health anxiety levels were found to be low for the sample. The levels of avoidance behavior and health anxiety in women were higher than in men. The present study is expected to be beneficial for social workers, mental health professionals, health authorities and doctors while developing public health strategies.

RESUMEN

Amber color emitting novel Ir(III) complexes were synthesized: [Ir(Meppy)2(Fpbpy)][PF6] (1bPF6), [Ir(Meppy)2(Fpbpy)][TFSI] (1bTFSI), [Ir(Meppy)2(MeObpy)][PF6] (2bPF6) and [Ir(Meppy)2(MeObpy)][TFSI] (2bTFSI), where Meppy = 2-(p-methylphenyl)-pyridine (b), Fpbpy = 4,4'-bis(4-fluorophenyl)-2,2'-bipyridine (1), and MeObpy = 4,4'-bis(4-methoxy)-2,2'-bipyridine (2). The photophysical and X-ray results showed that the complexes have aggregation-induced phosphorescent emission (AIPE) and a salt-induced polymorphism effect. The highest photoluminescence intensity was observed in complex 2bTFSI compared to other complexes in the solid state. Their theoretical absorption and phosphorescence emission transitions in acetonitrile were also investigated by using double- and triple-ζ basis sets with B3LYP and PBE0 hybrid functional. The best light-emitting electrochemical cell (LEC) performance was exhibited by complex 2bTFSI, and the data obtained were as follows: Luminance, current density, luminous efficiency, turn-on time, power efficiency, and external quantum efficiency were measured as 16 156 cd/m2, 554 mA/cm2, 8.49 cd/A, 17 s, 3.95 lm/W and 6.37%, respectively. The investigation of crystallographic characteristics have shown that the LEC performance of these complexes depends on cationic-anionic interaction which has a significant influence on molecular stacking of the molecules. Because, complex 2bTFSI, with weak cationic-anionic interactions, shows strong π···π stacking interactions between the adjacent molecules, it is the best lighting application candidate among the complexes.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Increased antimicrobial resistance is a problem in managing urinary tract infections (UTI). With this study we assessed the resistance patterns of urinary isolates in children with UTI between January 2017 and January 2018. METHODS: A retrospective cohort study was conducted. Among 5,443 isolates, a total of 776 UTI episodes in 698 patients were included. Patients' gender, age, voiding dysfunction, UTI history, prophylaxis status, and presence of vesicoureteral reflux were noted. Patients were divided into three age groups: group 1 for ages ≤12 months; group 2 for ages 13-60 months; and group 3 for ages >60 months. The susceptibilities of etiologic agents to different antimicrobials were explored. RESULTS: Median age was 54 months (range 1 month-21 years); male to female ratio was 1:5. The most common causative agent was Escherichia coli (83% of the cases), followed by Klebsiella pneumoniae (7.5%). Resistance to ampicillin (62.6%) and co-trimoxazole (39.8%) were remarkable in all isolates. Overall extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL) positivity was 23.5%. The highest resistance rates, higher ESBL positivity (28.6%), and K. pneumoniae frequency (13.5%) were observed in group 1. Ceftriaxone resistance was significantly low (0.5%) in the ESBL (-) group, which constituted the majority of the isolates. Higher resistance rates were observed among the patients on prophylaxis compared to those off prophylaxis (P < 0.001). CONCLUSION: Ceftriaxone can still be used for empirical treatment; however, initial urine culture results are crucial due to high ESBL positivity. Special consideration must be taken for patients under 1 year of age. Periodical surveillance studies are needed to explore the changing resistance patterns of uropathogens and modify treatment plans.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVES: We aimed to call attention to respiratory system manifestations which occur in the course of many inherited metabolic diseases (IMD), and present as the leading cause of death. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed the diagnosis, treatment, and outcome of patients evaluated at our hospital between June 2012 and June 2018 with a diagnosis of IMD and accompanying respiratory manifestations. RESULTS: A total of 50 children (29 [58%] male, 21 [42%] female) with IMD and respiratory manifestations were defined. Disorders of intracellular metabolism (n = 33, 66%) formed the majority, followed by intoxication type metabolic disorders (n = 9, 18%) and energy metabolism disorders (n = 8, 16%). The most frequent respiratory symptoms were snoring (20, 40%), tachypnea (16, 32%) and wheezing (14, 28%). Physical examination findings were signs of respiratory distress (n = 28, 56%), crackles (n = 24, 48%), thoracic deformity (n = 23, 46%), decreased breath sounds (n = 17, 34%), rhonchus (n = 17, 34%), wheezing (n = 17, 34%) and stridor (n = 10, 20%). Major respiratory manifestations were chronic airway aspiration (n = 23, 46%), upper airway obstruction (n = 23, 46%), and recurrent pneumonia (n = 18, 36%). Twenty-three 23 patients (46%) experienced endotracheal intubation, 9 patients (18%) required whole-house mechanical ventilation and tonsilloadenoidectomy was performed in 7 patients (14%). Overall survival rate was 70% (n = 35) in a median follow-up period of 2.36 (0.05-5.86) years. CONCLUSIONS: Respiratory system manifestations of IMD strongly relate with increased morbidity and mortality. Therefore, prompt diagnosis and correct intervention of respiratory complications with a multidisciplinary team including pediatric metabolic diseases specialists, pulmonologists, otorhinolaryngologists, physiotherapists, and anesthesiologists are crucial to prevent progression and irreversible damage.

RESUMEN

The title salt, C16H21NOPS(+) · C12H10OPS, was synthesized from the reaction between 3-(methylamino)propan-1-ol and PPh2(S)Cl in the presence of Et3N. Its structure has been identified using spectroscopic methods and X-ray analysis. Single crystals were obtained from ethanol by slow evaporation. In the asymmetric unit, a cation-anion pair is formed through an intermolecular N-H...O [N...O = 2.6974 (18) Å] hydrogen bond. The molecules are packed through N-H...O and N-H...S hydrogen bonds in the crystal and these hydrogen bonds are responsible for the high melting point. The P atoms of the anion and cation both have distorted tetrahedral environments.
