RESUMEN

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is an increasingly common neurodevelopmental disorder associated with impairments in postural control and repetitive patterns of behavior. Here, we describe two cases of adventitial bursitis of the dorsolateral feet in patients with ASD presenting as mass-like lesions. Both patients habitually sat in the W-position and were treated with ultrasound-guided aspirations with immediate relief of symptoms.

RESUMEN

Knee synovitis is a common, but nonspecific finding on MR imaging in patients with knee pain, with causes ranging from post-traumatic and osteoarthritis to inflammatory and infectious causes. Synovial thickening, joint effusion, and synovial enhancement are present across the spectrum of etiologies and do not allow differentiation between them in most instances. This article reviews synovial physiology and MR imaging of the normal synovium and synovitis, with discussion of specific pathologies and limited signs that suggest one diagnosis over another. Intravenous contrast is helpful across the spectrum of pathologies to distinguish joint fluid from synovial proliferation.

RESUMEN

Osteoid osteomas are benign, typically intracortical lesions most often affecting the diaphyses of long bones. We describe a case involving a 26-year-old male laborer who presented with the insidious onset of ulnar-sided wrist pain. He was diagnosed with and successfully treated with surgical excision for an osteoid osteoma involving the hook of the hamate.

RESUMEN

Spontaneous pseudoaneurysms are uncommon vascular lesions in children. A seven-month-old boy presented for management of a painless, pulsatile mass of the volar forearm identified as a pseudoaneurysm of the radial artery on imaging, definitively treated with surgical excision. Histology was concerning for fibromuscular dysplasia, without additional lesions on whole-body imaging.

RESUMEN

Anomalous origins of the vertebral arteries are uncommon and typically associated with other abnormalities of the great vessels. We present a case of an isolated origin of the right vertebral artery from the ipsilateral common carotid artery detected using magnetic resonance angiography. Such variants can significantly affect endovascular and surgical planning.

RESUMEN

Over the past decade, osteochondral allograft transplantation has soared in popularity. Advances in storage techniques have demonstrated improved chondrocyte viability at longer intervals and allowed for potential of increased graft availability. Recent studies have stratified outcomes according to location and etiology of the chondral or osteochondral defect. Unipolar lesions generally have favorable outcomes with promising 10-year survival rates. Though those undergoing osteochondral allograft transplantation often require reoperation, patient satisfaction remains high.
