[Implementation of systemic approach to evaluation of carcinogenic jeopardy, exemplified by copper metallurgy].

The authors suggested scientific and methodic approaches based on hygienic and medical prophylactic technologies to define carcinogenically dangerous occupations with unacceptable level of occupational carcinogenous risk, to control oncogenesis predictors in these occupations, to diagnose early stages of oncologic diseases, to specify medical and prophylactic measures -aimed to decrease oncologic morbidity.

[HYGIENIC DIAGNOSIS--A KEY ELEMENT IN THE HEALTH-PREVENTION TECHNOLOGIES FOR THE POPULATION RESIDING IN CONDITIONS OF HIGHER CHEMICAL LOAD].

This article is devoted to the review of methods and technologies of hygienic diagnostics implemented in the frameworks of the regional system of socio-hygienic monitoring for the Sverdlovsk Region for the purposes of the management ofthe quality ofenvironment and the state ofthe population's health. Under conditions of impossibility to take immediate performance of radical technological and technical measures mitigating adverse effects of industries and road transport on the living environment and due to limitation of financial expenses, the proposed algorithm of actions helps to establish priority factors, environmental objects, and routes ofexposure, evaluate predicted values of a multiple environmental assessment of health risk, specify dose-response relations in environmental epidemiological studies, substantiate the choice of the most susceptible groups of population, for which the implementation of targeted rehabilitation gives the significant medical and economic efficiency.

[MANAGEMENT OF THE MULTIPLE ENVIRONMENTAL RISK FOR THE HEALTH OF THE POPULATION OF INDUSTRIALIZED CITIES OF THE SVERDLOVSK REGION].

In the Sverdlovsk region for the assessment and management of environment and health of the population over more than 10 years there is used a methodology for the assessment of the multiple environmental risk, allowing to identify priority routes of toxicants entering the body, to evaluate the possible dose-response relationships and elaborate targeted measures for their correction. In the article there is shown how are effective management decisions, elaborated on the base of the results of the assessment of multiple environmental risk to public health in cities of Pervouralsk and Revda of the Sverdlovsk region and directed to the mitigation of the exposure to chemical factors of the environment.

[Evaluation of carcinogenic risk assessment of metallurgic copper production based on mortality studies and predictive risk values].

Comparative evaluation covered carcinogenic jeopardy at metallurgic copper production through studies of the workers' mortality with malignancies and calculation of individual carcinogenic risks. Findings are that the individual carcinogenic risks calucations correspond to the data obtained in epidemiologic study of the mortality with malignancies and could be used for evaluation of carcinogenic jeopardy.

[The organic carbon--issues of hygienic regulation and harmonization].

This study is devoted to the investigation of possibility to use the total organic carbon as regulated index in drinking water as well as to the issues of hygienic regulation and harmonizing this index with the standards of other countries. Basing on the results of 3 years lasting investigation carried out by Municipal Unitary Enterprise "Vodokanal" of Yekaterinburg city permits to propose as the most informative and reliable index of the presence of organic substances in drinking water the content of total organic carbon in comparison with currently regulated permanganate oxidability, chemical and biochemical oxygen consumption.

[Heat-shock gene expression in murine erythroid cells]. / Ekspressiia genov teplovogo shoka v éritroidnykh kletkakh myshi.

The effect of the heat-shock stress factor on protein synthesis in Rauscher virus-transformed murine erythroblasts with blocked hemoglobin synthesis was studied. The most pronounced heat-shock protein (HSP) synthesis was observed at 43 and 45 degrees C. Under conditions of heat shock the cells examined demonstrated enhanced (or new) synthesis of HSP with relative mol. mass of approximately 70-80 kD, approximately 50 kD and approximately 15-25 kD. No stable induction of 90 kD heat-shock protein was observed. The characteristic feature of transformed erythroblasts was a sufficiently stable appearance of low-molecular HSP with mol. mass from 14 kD to 25 kD, among which there were proteins with relative mol. mass corresponding to that of globin chains.
