RESUMEN

Activating metal ion-doped oxides as visible-light-responsive photocatalysts requires intricate structural and electronic engineering, a task with inherent challenges. In this study, we employed a solid (template)-molten (dopants) reaction to synthesize Bi- and Rh-codoped SrTiO3 (SrTiO3:Bi,Rh) particles. Our investigation reveals that SrTiO3:Bi,Rh manifests as single-crystalline particles in a core (undoped)/shell (doped) structure. Furthermore, it exhibits a well-stabilized Rh3+ energy state for visible-light response without introducing undesirable trapping states. This precisely engineered structure and electronic configuration promoted the generation of high-concentration and long-lived free electrons, as well as facilitated their transfer to cocatalysts for H2 evolution. Impressively, SrTiO3:Bi,Rh achieved an exceptional apparent quantum yield (AQY) of 18.9% at 420 nm, setting a new benchmark among Rh-doped-based SrTiO3 materials. Furthermore, when integrated into an all-solid-state Z-scheme system with Mo-doped BiVO4 and reduced graphene oxide, SrTiO3:Bi,Rh enabled water splitting with an AQY of 7.1% at 420 nm. This work underscores the significance of simultaneous structural and electronic engineering and introduces the solid-molten reaction as a viable approach for this purpose.

This study aimed to enhance bread functionality while maintaining its organoleptic attributes by employing superfine grinding and purple wheat, through characterizing dough properties, bread quality attributes, and in vitro starch digestibility. Compared with dough made from commercial-superfine-whole-wheat flour, the superfine-whole-purple-wheat dough was less strong, comparably extensible, and higher in gassing power during mixing, moulding and proofing, respectively. The subsequent bread quality analysis of crumb grain features and texture indicated that the bread made from superfine-whole-purple-wheat flour was more porous and softer with a larger specific volume (3.21 ± 0.20 cm3/g) than that made from commercial-superfine-whole-wheat flour (2.30 ± 0.17 cm3/g). Additionally, the superfine-whole-purple-wheat bread had a significantly slower glucose release (k = 0.0048 min-1) during in vitro starch digestion as compared to the superfine-whole-wheat bread (k = 0.0065 min-1). Therefore, this study demonstrates that using superfine-whole-purple-wheat flour leads to bread with desirable quality attributes and potential health benefits compared to conventional whole-wheat flour.

Multi-interpenetrated metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have exhibited excellent performance in selective adsorption due to the variable post-interspersed flexibility, but the design and control remain challenging. Herein, two anthracene-based ligands, 4,4'-(anthracene-9,10-diyl)dibenzoic acid (H2L1) and 9,10-di(pyridin-4-yl)anthracene (L2), are used to construct a new three-dimensional 6-fold interpenetrated MOF [Zn(L1)(L2)]n (NBU-X1), which exhibits multiple C-H···π interactions that enhance the structural rigidity, thereby entangling with a C2H2/C2H4 separation performance. In this material, the incorporation of abundant anthracene rings within the framework not only partitions and restricts the pore window size to a quasi-double pore but also stabilizes it through host-host interactions. The structural stability upon heating or guest displacement/removal has been investigated by single-crystal X-ray diffraction and in situ variable-temperature powder X-ray diffraction, in contrast to the extreme flexibility of most multi-interpenetrated MOFs. The performance of purifying C2H4 from C2H2/C2H4 mixtures has been proved by dynamic breakthrough tests.

Obtaining compounds with large nonlinear-optical (NLO) coefficients and wide band gaps is challenging due to their competitive requirements for chemical bonds. Herein, the first member with mixed cations on the A site in the A-M3-Q5 or A-Ag-M6-Q10 (A = alkali metal; M = Ga, In; Q = S, Se, Te) family, viz. Na0.45Ag0.55Ga3Se5 (NAGSe), was obtained by a solid-state reaction. Its structure features [GaSe4] tetrahedra built three-dimensional {[Ga3Se5]-}∞ network, with Na and Na/Ag cations located at the octahedral cavities. Noncentrosymmetric (R32) NAGSe can also be transformed from centrosymmetric RbGa3S5 (P21/c) via multiple-site cosubstitution. NAGSe exhibits the highest NLO response (1.9 × AGS) in the A-Ag-M-Q family. Crystal structure analysis and theoretical calculations suggest that the NLO response is mainly contributed by the regularly arranged [GaSe4] units. This work enriches the exploration of the undeveloped A-M3-Q5 or A-Ag-M6-Q10 family as potential infrared NLO materials.

OBJECTIVE: The study aims to investigate and visualize the hotspots of acupuncture for Allergic rhinitis (AR) over the past two decades and pinpoint future trends in this field. METHOD: We conducted a systematic search of English-language articles or reviews on acupuncture for AR in the Web of Science Core Collection from 2002 to 2022. Using Citespace, VOSviewer, and Bibliometrix, we analyzed and visualized the publications, countries, institutions, authors, journals, and keywords from various angles. RESULT: The study identified 197 documents, 80 journals, 458 keywords, and 928 authors associated with acupuncture for AR. Although article publication fluctuated over the past 20 years, an overall upward trend emerged, with rapid growth during the second decade. China contributed the most to acupuncture research on AR and had the closest collaborations with the United States and Germany. China Medical University was the most prolific institution, and Benno Brinkhaus was the most productive and influential author. The most published journal was Medicine, while the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology was the most frequently cited journal. The highest frequency keywords included acupuncture, allergic rhinitis, and asthma. Randomized controlled trials and alternative & complementary medicine remained significant research hotspots, while rhinoconjunctivitis is expected to be the emerging focus of future investigations. CONCLUSION: acupuncture has experienced robust development for the treatment of allergic rhinitis over the last two decades, with rhinoconjunctivitis and clinical research being the anticipated trends and frontiers of future research.

The poly(butylene adipate-co-terephthalate) (PBAT)/thermoplastic starch (TPS) film stands out owing to its acceptable price, low impact on the environment, and excellent mechanical properties. The main objective of this study was to improve the antioxidant properties of the PBAT/TPS film by incorporation of quercetin (Q) through the extrusion blow process. Another specific objective was to incorporate the organically modified montmorillonite (OMMT) to prolong the release of Q and improve the poor barrier properties of the PBAT/TPS/Q film. The films were analyzed in terms of their morphology, mechanical properties, gas and water barrier properties, and antioxidant and anti-UV properties. Optimization of the OMMT content resulted in a fiber-like, co-continuous morphology of the PBAT/TPS/Q film. The incorporation of quercetin enhanced the antioxidant and anti-UV properties of the PBAT/TPS film, while OMMT improved the mechanical properties, ultraviolet barriers, and gas and water barrier properties. The results show that the films incorporating Q and OMMT provided the oxygen and water barrier by up to 94 and 54%, respectively. Also, the amount of polymer required for 50% 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) inhibition is as low as 0.03 g, and the UV transmission rate was reduced by about 50%. Moreover, PBAT/TPS/Q/OMMT films successfully delayed the decay of the banana and blueberry due to their excellent antioxidant properties and suitable water vapor permeability.

Background: A traumatic spinal cord injury (TSCI) can lead to severe nerve damage and disability. Cell transplantation therapy has shown great potential in the reconstruction of damaged spinal cords and promoting functional recovery. However, there is a lack of frontiers and futures analysis in the study of cell transplantation in TSCI. Methods: We used CiteSpace, VOSviewer and biblilometrix R package to perform bibliometric analysis on cell transplantation in TSCI from 2013 to 2023. Bibliometric records were extracted from English articles and reviews from the Web of Science core collection. Results: The bibliometric analysis included 284 papers published in 154 journals by 1,780 authors from 487 institutions in 41 countries and regions. The number of articles published in the past decade has fluctuated slightly, while the number of article citations has steadily increased. Mainland China and the United States are the leading countries and regions in this field, with the National Natural Science Foundation of China being the most funded foundation, and the United States being the country with the most funded articles. The University of Toronto in Canada is a prolific institution. Michael G. Fehlings has published the most articles, and D Michele Basso is the most cited author. Cell transplantation is the most published journal, and the Journal of Neurotrauma is the most cited journal. Cell and tissue engineering and clinical neurology are the basic disciplines in this field, and cutting-edge disciplines include developmental biology, biochemistry and molecular biology, and materials science and multidisciplinary. This study also helps scholars understand the current hotspots and future trends in this field. Marrow stromal cells, glial progenitor, and cell therapy are current research hotspots in this field, while nerve regeneration, cell therapy, and the safety of transplantation of transplantation may be potential research directions in the future. Conclusion: Cell transplantation after TSCI is receiving increasing attention. Cell therapy is both the frontier and a possible future trend in TSCI research. In addition, glial progenitor and marrow stromal cells are also current research hotspots. Meanwhile, nerve regeneration and safety of transplantation may be potential research directions. These findings will help further deepen research on cell transplantation for TSCI in scientific work.

Professor GAO Wei-bin's clinical experience of electric eye acupuncture and stagnant-moving needling for ophthalmopathy was introduced. The indications of electric eye acupuncture and stagnant-moving needling include external ophtalmoplegia and visual impairment. Professor GAO has proposed new acupoints at the ocular muscles attachment of eyeball, and put forward five experience points: Shangming point, Neiming point, Xiaming point, Waiming point and Tijian point. The points are selected according to different pathological changes of ocular muscles. In the treatment of ophthalmopathy, the tendons and vessels are often regulated at the same time. Neiming point, Shangming point, Xiaming point and Qiuhou point are the main points, with Fengchi (GB 20) and Gongxue (Extra) as the matching points. In addition, attention is paid to the application of stagnant-moving needling and electroacupuncture (continuous dense wave, frequency of 50 Hz).

Second-order nonlinear optical (NLO) materials are extensively applied in laser-related techniques. For developing IR NLO materials, chalcogenides are the main candidates. Here, NaGa3Se5 was explored as inspired by its unique anionic structure. It crystallizes with the orthorhombic chiral P212121 structure, featuring 12 types of GaSe4 tetrahedra built into a three-dimensional {[Ga3Se5]-}∞ anionic network, representing a new NLO-functional motif. NaGa3Se5 exhibits large and phase-matchable NLO response 1.37 × AgGaS2. It has the largest band gap among the noncentrosymmetric A-MIII-Se (A = alkali metal; M = Ga, In) compounds. The NLO properties' origin is explored via theoretical analysis. The success of NaGa3Se5 contributes a practical case for exploring new NLO materials.

INTRODUCTIN AND HYPOTHESIS: Mixed urinary incontinence (MUI) comprises a combination of urgency and stress. The efficacy and safety of electroacupuncture (EA) for the treatment of MUI remain unclear. OBJECTIVE: To assess the efficacy and safety of EA in treating MUI. METHODS: We searched PubMed, CENTRAL, Embase, Web of Science, four Chinese databases, clinical research registration platforms, grey literature, and the reference lists of the selected studies. Risk of bias and quality were evaluated using the Revman 5.4 and Jadad scores. Meta-analysis was performed using Stata 15.1 software. Trial sequential analysis (TSA) was used to assess the stability of the results. RESULTS: Eight randomized controlled trials comprising 847 patients were included. The meta-analysis results showed that compared with antimuscarinic drugs plus pelvic floor muscle training, EA resulted in significantly less pad weight on the 1-h pad test and statistically significantly lower severity scores on the International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire Short Form. The change in the 72-h incontinence episode frequency difference was not statistically significant, and there was no outcome of overall response rate and quality of life in this meta-analysis. Few adverse events occurred in the EA group. The TSA results suggested that the result of change from baseline in the 1-h pad test was stable and the evidence was conclusive. CONCLUSIONS: EA could be a potential treatment option for MUI and is relatively safe. Nevertheless, because of the limitations of this study, our conclusions should be interpreted with caution, and further studies are needed to confirm the comprehensive clinical efficacy and placebo effect of EA.

RESUMEN

Obtaining new nonlinear-optical (NLO) materials with strong responses and wide band gaps is a hot topic in the laser field. Here, a series of sulfides AAgGa6S10 (A = K, Rb, Cs) were obtained by a facile solid-state reaction routine. They crystallize in the noncentrosymmetric space group Cc with a new structure-type. Their 3D structures are built by an unprecedented {[AgGa6S10]-}∞ anionic framework, which can be considered as the 1 : 1 intergrowth of the AgGaS2 and Ga2S3 structural slabs. They exhibit moderate responses ∼0.7/0.5/0.6 × AGS and the widest bandgaps among NLO chalcogenides containing independent Ag sites, suggesting that they may have high laser-induced damage thresholds, which is verified by the experimental 1.5/3/4 × AGS. This study not only opens a new system of NLO materials, but also provides a reliable design strategy for future NLO materials.

Obtaining fresh nonlinear optical (NLO) materials is an attractive and challenging topic for the development of laser techniques. Using benchmark AgGaQ2 (Q = S, Se) as the template, new KAg3Ga8Se14 is obtained by a solid-state reaction. Its structure can be built by the intergrowth of 2 : 1 AgGaSe2 and Ga2Se3-like slabs if the K site is occupied by Ag. Powdery KAg3Ga8Se14 demonstrates moderate phase-matchable NLO responses, and a LDT of ca. 2 × AgGaS2. DFT calculations reveal that both AgSe4 and GaSe4 tetrahedral motifs contribute a lot to the NLO performance. This work reveals a new class of promising infrared NLO materials, and the design strategy may apply to other systems.

Acid orange II (AO II), a typical azo pigment, is strictly controlled by legislation and prohibited in foodstuffs. Herein, we prepared gold nanoparticles decorated amino-functionalized Cr-based metal-organic frameworks [NH2-MIL-101(Cr)@Au] via an in-situ reduction method as a surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) substrate for simultaneous adsorption and detection of AO II. Gold nanoparticles are uniformly dispersed on the surface of NH2-MIL-101(Cr) owing to its three-dimensional (3D) structure and the interaction between -NH2 and Au ions, providing more SERS-active "hot spots". These NH2-MIL-101(Cr)@Au nanocomposites exhibited selective and high adsorption performance (419.85 mg g-1) for AO II, and could be used as superior SERS substrates for the detection of AO II with a low limit of detection (LOD) of 0.05 mg L-1 and wide detection range of 0.05-50 mg L-1 using portable Raman spectrometer. Furthermore, this SERS assay has been successfully used to determine AO II in orange juice and chili powder with good sensitivities.

Bone is the most frequent organ for breast cancer metastasis, and thus it is essential to predict the bone metastasis of breast cancer. In our work, we constructed a gene dependency network based on the hypothesis that the relation between one gene and the risk of bone metastasis might be affected by another gene. Then, based on the structure controllability theory, we mined the driver gene set which can control the whole network in the gene dependency network, and the signature genes were selected from them. Survival analysis showed that the signature could distinguish the bone metastasis risks of cancer patients in the test data set and independent data set. Besides, we used the signature genes to construct a centroid classifier. The results showed that our method is effective and performed better than published methods.
