RESUMEN

Black shank disease is the main disease affecting tobacco crops worldwide, and the main impacted by the disease are the stem base and root. At present, transgenic technology is an effective method to improve plant disease resistance through transgenic technology. In this study, the EuCHIT73.88 gene was cloned from Eucommia ulmoides Oliver (E. ulmoides) by using RT-PCR. The full length of the gene was 897 bp, encoding 298 amino acid residues. An overexpression vector of from the EuCHIT73.88 gene driven by the 35S promoter was constructed and transferred into tobacco plants via transgenic technology. After inoculation with the black shank pathogen, the number of visible lesions on the stems and leaves of the transgenic tobacco variety EuCHIT73.88 was significantly shorter than that on the stems and leaves of the of wild type (WT) and empty vector (EV) plants, and the lesion area was significantly smaller than on the stems and leaves of the WT and EV plants. With increasing inoculation time, introduction of the WT and EV vectors was obviously lethal, whereas transgenic tobacco only exhibited wilted characteristics, and the stems were black, which indicated that the EuCHIT73.88 gene could improve the resistance of tobacco to black shank disease. Furthermore, the activity of protective enzymes and the gene expression of resistance-related proteins were measured. The results showed that compared with those of the WT and EV plants, the CAT and POD activities of the TP tobacco plants were greater, peaking at 72 h at concentrations of 446.87 U/g and 4562.24 U/g, which were 1.63 and 1.61 times greater than those of the WT and EV plants, respectively. This indicated that CAT and POD may be involved in the process of disease resistance of in the transgenic plants. The MDA content of the transgenic tobacco plants was significantly lower than that of the WT and EV plants with increasing EuCHIT73.88 expression, thus indicating that the overexpression of the transgenic EuCHIT73.88 gene could alleviate the levels of lipid peroxidation and reduce the damage to plant cell membranes. The expression of disease-related protein genes (PR2, PR5, PR1a, PDF1.2 and MLP423) was significantly greater in the EuCHIT73.88 ransgenic tobacco than in the WT and EV-transgenic tobacco. and these findings consistently showed that EuCHIT73.88 could improve the resistance to black shank.

RESUMEN

Magnetic phosphorous biochar (MPBC) was prepared from Camellia oleifera shells using phosphoric acid activation and iron co-deposition. The materials were characterized and analyzed through scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffractometry (XRD), specific surface area and pore size analysis (BET), Fourier infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). MPBC had a high surface area (1 139.28 m2·g-1) and abundant surface functional groups, and it could achieve fast solid-liquid separation under the action of an external magnetic field. The adsorption behavior and influencing factors of sulfamethoxazole (SMX) in water were investigated. The adsorbent showed excellent adsorption properties for SMX under acidic and neutral conditions, and alkaline conditions and the presence of CO32- had obvious inhibition on adsorption. The adsorption process conformed to the quasi-second-order kinetics and Langmuir model. The adsorption rate was fast, and the maximum adsorption capacity reached 356.49 mg·g-1. The adsorption process was a spontaneous exothermic reaction, and low temperature was beneficial to the adsorption. The adsorption mechanism was mainly the chemisorption of pyrophosphate surface functional groups (C-O-P bond) between the SMX molecule and MPBC and also included hydrogen bonding, π-π electron donor-acceptor (π-πEDA) interaction, and a pore filling effect. The development of MPBC adsorbent provides an effective way for resource utilization of waste Camellia oleifera shells and treatment of sulfamethoxazole wastewater.

RESUMEN

A systematic review and meta-analysis were performed to identify the global prevalence and factors associated with Toxoplasma gondii infection in wild birds. Six bibliographic databases (Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure, VIP Chinese Journal Database, Wanfang Data, PubMed, Web of science and ScienceDirect) were searched from inception to February 2023. The search yielded 1220 records of which 659 articles underwent full-text evaluation, which identified 49 eligible articles and 16,030 wild bird samples that were included in the meta-analysis. The estimated pooled global prevalence of T. gondii infection in wild birds was 16.6%. Out of the variables tested, publication year after 2020 and climate type were significantly associated with T. gondii infection (P<0.01). Our data indicate that the prevalence of T. gondii in wild birds can be influenced by epidemiological variables. Further research is needed to identify the biological, environmental, anthropogenic, and geographical risk factors which impact the ecology and prevalence of T. gondii in wild birds.

RESUMEN

Blastocystis is a protist that is distributed in the gut tract of humans and animals. However, the reports about Blastocystis infection in Tibetan antelope are scarce. We collected 173 Tibetan antelope feces samples from Xinjiang, Qinghai and Xizang, and amplified the SSU rRNA gene of 600 bp region of Blastocystis in our research. Fifty-one samples in total were positive for Blastocystis, with all subtypes being ST31. The lowest prevalence of Blastocystis was observed in Xizang (2/20, 9.1%), followed by Qinghai (18/92, 16.4%), Xinjiang (31/61, 33.7%). The highest prevalence of Blastocystis in Tibetan antelope was detected during the summer was (19/30, 38.8%). This is the first research work regarding the Blastocystis subtypes ST31 in Tibetan antelope. Our research provides information for future researches on the distribution of this Blastocystis subtype and the control of Blastocystis infection.

RESUMEN

Enterocytozoon bieneusi is one of the most important zoonotic pathogens. In this study, we present a systematic review and meta-analysis of the prevalence of human E. bieneusi infection in endemic regions and analyze the various potential risk factors. A total of 75 studies were included. Among 31,644 individuals tested, 2,291 (6.59%) were E. bieneusi-positive. The highest prevalence of E. bieneusi in the male population was 5.50%. The prevalence of E. bieneusi in different age groups was varied, with 10.97% in teenagers. The prevalence of E. bieneusi in asymptomatic patients (6.49%) is significantly lower than that in HIV-infected patients (11.49%), and in patients with diarrheal symptoms (16.45%). Rural areas had a higher rate (7.58%) than urban ones. The prevalence of E. bieneusi in humans was the highest (6.42%) at altitudes <10 m. Moreover, the temperate zone marine climate (13.55%) had the highest prevalence. A total of 69 genotypes of E. bieneusi have been found in humans. This is the first global study regarding E. bieneusi prevalence in humans. Not only people with low immunity (such as the elderly, children, people with HIV, etc.), but also people in Europe in temperate marine climates should exercise caution to prevent infection with E. bieneusi during contact process with animals.

Enterocytozoon bieneusi (E. bieneusi), which is one of the most common microsporidia, has been identified as an important obligate intracellular pathogen that commonly colonizes in a variety of animal species and humans worldwide, including humans. In this study, the statistical analyses of E. bieneusi infection and prevalence were performed to clarify the relationship between different genotypes in different countries. The databases Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), VIP Chinese Journal Database, Wanfang Data, PubMed, Web of Science and ScienceDirect were used for data collection. The research data were subjected to subgroup, univariate regression, and correlation, to reveal factors related to the high prevalence of E. bieneusi. A total of, 34 of the 498 articles published before April 2022 met the inclusion criteria. The global prevalence of E. bieneusi in pigs was 37.69% (5175/12672). The prevalence of E. bieneusi in nursery pigs was 58.87% (588/946). In developing countries and Asia, the highest prevalence of E. bieneusi in pigs were 37.62% (4752/11645) and 40.14% (4715/11345), respectively. Moreover, humans and pigs have been found to be infected with the same genotype of E. bieneusi in some cases, as evidenced by the consolidation of genotype information. The results showed that pigs are susceptible to E. bieneusi during the nursery period. The prevalence of E. bieneusi is high in developing countries, and its genotype prevalence varies in each country. Thus, it is essential to strengthen the health inspection of vulnerable groups and customs quarantine inspection.

RESUMEN

In this study, infrared spectroscopy, high-performance liquid chromatography, and matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization-time-of-flight-mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF-MS) technology were applied to systematically explain the Schisandra chinensis's polysaccharide transformation in configuration, molecular weight, monosaccharide composition, and anti-ulcerative colitis (UC) activity after vinegar processing. Scanning electron microscopic results showed that the appearance of S. chinensis polysaccharide changed significantly after steaming with vinegar. The MALDI-TOF-MS results showed that the mass spectra of raw S. chinensis polysaccharides (RSCP) were slightly lower than those of vinegar-processed S. chinensis polysaccharides (VSCP). The RSCP showed higher peaks at m/z 1350.790, 2016.796, and 2665.985, all with left-skewed distribution, and the molecular weights were concentrated in the range of 1300-3100, with no higher peak above m/z 5000. The VSCPs showed a whole band below m/z 3000, with m/z 1021.096 being the highest peak, and the intensity decreased with the increase of m/z. In addition, compared to RSCPs, VSCPs can significantly increase the content of intestinal short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs). This study showed that the apparent morphology and molecular weight of S. chinensis's polysaccharides significantly changed after steaming with vinegar. These changes directly affect its anti-UC effect significantly, and its mechanism is closely related to improving the structure and diversity of gut microbiota and SCFA metabolism.

RESUMEN

AIM: To develop the 17-item Asthenopia Survey Questionnaire (ASQ)-17 by Rasch analysis, and to generate a predictiveness score. METHODS: Totally 739 participants were recruited and 680 were involved in the result analysis in this prospective, cross-sectional study. Three rounds of Rasch analysis were used to analyze the psychometric characteristics of items and options. RESULTS: Phase 1 assessed the original ASQ-19, adjusted the item scoring mode to a four-point Likert response rating scale and combined the 18th and 19th items into a new item. Phase 2 deleted the 11th item. Phases 3 and 4 assessed the new ASQ-17. All the evaluation indexes of ASQ-17 were acceptable. The Infit and Outfit MnSq values of items were 0.67-1.48, the variance explained by the principal component and the unexplained variance explained by the first contrast were 53.90%-59.40% and 1.50-1.80 in three dimensions. The curve peaks of scores in each dimension were separated and in the same order. The PSR and PSI values were 2.80 and 0.89, respectively. The mean scores of dimensions A (9.5±4.1 vs 3.5±3.2), B (7.3±3.3 vs 2.5±2.7), C (4.3±2.2 vs 1.4±2.0) and total (21.1±8.1 vs 7.4±7.0) in asthenopia participants were significantly higher than those without asthenopia (all P<0.001). The area under the curve in two groups was 0.899 (P<0.001). Youden's index was up to the maximum value of 0.784 when the cut-off value was 12.5. CONCLUSION: ASQ-17 has stronger option sorting and suitability than ASQ-19. It is an effective assessment tool for asthenopia with an optimal cut-off threshold value of 12.5, which is suitable for diagnosis and curative effect evaluation.

RESUMEN

Bovine coronavirus (BCoV) is one of the important pathogens that cause calf diarrhea (CD), winter dysentery (WD), and the bovine respiratory disease complex (BRDC), and spreads worldwide. An infection of BCoV in cattle can lead to death of young animals, stunted growth, reduced milk production, and milk quality, thus bringing serious economic losses to the bovine industry. Therefore, it is necessary to prevent and control the spread of BCoV. Here, a systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted to assess the prevalence of BCoV in cattle in China before 2022. A total of 57 articles regarding the prevalence of BCoV in cattle in China were collected from five databases (PubMed, ScienceDirect, CNKI, VIP, and Wan Fang). Based on the inclusion criteria, a total of 15,838 samples were included, and 6,136 were positive cases. The overall prevalence of BCoV was 30.8%, with the highest prevalence rate (60.5%) identified in South China and the lowest prevalence (15.6%) identified in Central China. We also analyzed other subgroup information, included sampling years, sample sources, detection methods, breeding methods, age, type of cattle, presence of diarrhea, and geographic and climatic factors. The results indicated that BCoV was widely prevalent in China. Among all subgroups, the sample sources, detection methods, breeding methods, and presence or absence of diarrheal might be potential risk factors responsible for BCoV prevalence. It is recommended to strengthen the detection of BCoV in cattle, in order to effectively control the spread of BCoV.

RESUMEN

Intoduction: Cryptosporidiosis is a zoonotic disease caused by Cryptosporidium infection with the main symptom of diarrhea. The present study performed a metaanalysis to determine the global prevalence of Cryptosporidium in Equus animals. Methods: Data collection was carried out using Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), VIP Chinese journal database (VIP), WanFang Data, PubMed, and ScienceDirect databases, with 35 articles published before 2021 being included in this systematic analysis. This study analyzed the research data through subgroup analysis and univariate regression analysis to reveal the factors leading to high prevalence. We applied a random effects model (REM) to the metadata. Results: The total prevalence rate of Cryptosporidium in Equus was estimated to be 7.59% from the selected articles. The prevalence of Cryptosporidium in female Equus was 2.60%. The prevalence of Cryptosporidium in Equus under 1-year-old was 11.06%, which was higher than that of Equus over 1-year-old (2.52%). In the experimental method groups, the positive rate detected by microscopy was the highest (10.52%). The highest Cryptosporidium prevalence was found in scale breeding Equus (7.86%). The horses had the lowest Cryptosporidium prevalence (7.32%) among host groups. C. muris was the most frequently detected genotype in the samples (53.55%). In the groups of geographical factors, the prevalence rate of Cryptosporidium in Equus was higher in regions with low altitude (6.88%), rainy (15.63%), humid (22.69%), and tropical climates (16.46%). Discussion: The search strategy use of five databases might have caused the omission of some researches. This metaanalysis systematically presented the global prevalence and potential risk factors of Cryptosporidium infection in Equus. The farmers should strengthen the management of young and female Equus animals, improve water filtration systems, reduce stocking densities, and harmless treatment of livestock manure.

RESUMEN

Echinococcosis is a foodborne parasitic zoonosis caused by the larvae of Echinococcus. This disease can affect goats and other mammals. In this study, a systematic review and meta-analysis for echinococcosis in global goats were performed based on the following five databases (China National Knowledge Infrastructure [CNKI], VIP Chinese Journal Database, Wanfang Data, PubMed, and ScienceDirect). In total, 108,197 samples were collected. The global prevalence of echinococcosis in goats was identified to be 10.85% (3217/108,197). The prevalence of echinococcosis in goats was 6.16% (1369/22,208) and 13.27% (874/5932) in South America and Africa, respectively. The prevalence of echinococcosis in goats before 2010 (9.76%; 112/713) was significantly higher than that from 2010 to 2014 (1.44%; 45/32,145) or after 2014 (2.95%; 154/3889). The prevalence of echinococcosis in goats aged <12 months (4.48%; 70/2911) was higher than that in goats aged ≥12 months (2.88%; 36/819). We also investigated the effects of geographical factors and climates on the prevalence of echinococcosis in goats. The results showed that the prevalence of echinococcosis was higher in the areas with high altitude and cold climate. This meta-analysis indicated that echinococcosis was ubiquitous in goats. Thus, we should improve the feeding conditions for goats, and strengthen the control measures of echinococcosis epidemic in goats, with the aims of reducing the economic losses of animal husbandry and providing protection for humans in the aspects of food security and health.

RESUMEN

The present study described the clinical presentation of patients with cesarean scar pregnancy type II (CSP)-II diagnosed by ultrasound or magnetic resonance imaging, who underwent laparoscopic surgery resection or hysteroscopic treatment. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the outcomes of different treatments for CSP. The patients with CSP-II were assigned to the laparoscopy and hysteroscopy groups according to the type of surgery performed. The general indicators and post-operative outcomes were compared between the two groups. Statistically significant differences (P<0.05) were noted in the treatment efficacy indices between the two groups. The laparoscopic group exhibited a lower value of ß-human chorionic gonadotropin (ß-HCG) following surgery (P=0.017), a shorter time required for ß-HCG to return to normal levels (P=0.001), a reduced post-operative thickness of the uterine scar (P<0.001) and a reduced menstruation recovery time (P<0.001). However, no significant differences were noted in blood loss during operation (P>0.05). On the whole, the data indicated that the laparoscopic resection of the scar with gestational tissue and wound repair may be used to preserve the uterus and may thus be an effective method for CSP-II. The appropriate treatment needs to be selected according to the condition of each patient. Based on the latter and on the available technology, priority may perhaps be given to laparoscopic surgery.

RESUMEN

This study employed orthogonal design and AHP-comprehensive scoring method to optimize the processing technology of wine-processed Polygonati Rhizoma, and then explored the immunomodulation performance of the product. Orthogonal test was established based on single factor test results to study the effects of soaking time, steaming time, and drying temperature on the quality of wine-processed Polygonati Rhizoma. Further, the analytic hierarchy process(AHP) and comprehensive scoring method were employed to determine the optimum processing parameters. The immunosuppression model of mice was established by injecting cyclophosphamide intraperitoneally. The body weight, immune organ index, and white blood cell count(WBC) and red blood cell count(RBC) in peripheral blood were compared between the mice administrated with the non-processed Polygonati Rhizoma and the wine-processed Polygonati Rhizoma prepared with modern and traditional methods. Further, the levels of interleukin-2(IL-2) and interferon-gamma(IFN-γ) in serum were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) for comparison. The processing parameters were optimized as follows: soaking in Chinese rice wine for 10 h, steaming for 20 h, and drying thick slices at 60 ℃. The wine-processed Polygonati Rhizoma prepared with both modern and traditional methods can significantly enhance the immune function, with similar performance. The optimized processing technology of wine-processed Polygonati Rhizoma is stable and feasible and the product prepared with this process has obvious immune-enhancing effect, which provides a basis for the quality standard formulation and the modern research of wine-processed Polygonati Rhizoma.

RESUMEN

The homeostatic link between oxidative stress and autophagy plays an important role in cellular responses to a wide variety of physiological and pathological conditions. However, the regulatory pathway and outcomes remain incompletely understood. Here, we show that reactive oxygen species (ROS) function as signaling molecules that regulate autophagy through ataxia-telangiectasia mutated (ATM) and cell cycle checkpoint kinase 2 (CHK2), a DNA damage response (DDR) pathway activated during metabolic and hypoxic stress. We report that CHK2 binds to and phosphorylates Beclin 1 at Ser90/Ser93, thereby impairing Beclin 1-Bcl-2 autophagy-regulatory complex formation in a ROS-dependent fashion. We further demonstrate that CHK2-mediated autophagy has an unexpected role in reducing ROS levels via the removal of damaged mitochondria, which is required for cell survival under stress conditions. Finally, CHK2-/- mice display aggravated infarct phenotypes and reduced Beclin 1 p-Ser90/Ser93 in a cerebral stroke model, suggesting an in vivo role of CHK2-induced autophagy in cell survival. Taken together, these results indicate that the ROS-ATM-CHK2-Beclin 1-autophagy axis serves as a physiological adaptation pathway that protects cells exposed to pathological conditions from stress-induced tissue damage.

RESUMEN

Strain HT88 was isolated from the fresh stems of Mallotus nudiflorus L, and it was identified as Nocardiopsis sp. by analyzing its morphology and the 16S rRNA sequence. The extracts of fermented HT88 showed potent antimicrobial activities. Bioassay guided separation of extracts led to eight proline (or hydroxyproline, Hyp)-containing cyclic dipeptides. Their structures were determined by 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopy and ESI mass spectrometry and further comparison with existing 1H and 13C NMR, melting points and specific rotation data. The eight 2,5-diketopiperazines (DKPs) were identified as cyclo(L-Pro-L-Leu) (1), cyclo(Pro-Leu) (2), cyclo(L-trans-Hyp-L-Leu) (3), cyclo(D-trans-Hyp-D-Leu) (4), and cyclo(D-Pro-L-Phe) (5), cyclo(L-Pro-L-Phe) (6), and cyclo(D-cis-Hyp-L-Phe) (7), cyclo(L-trans-Hyp-L-Phe) (8), respectively. Up to date, this is the first isolation of four pairs of proline based DKPs from Nocardiopsis sp.

RESUMEN

There is still a need for better protection against or mitigation of the effects of ionizing radiation following conventional radiotherapy or accidental exposure. The objective of our current study was to investigate the possible roles of matrix metalloproteinase inhibitor, ilomastat, in the protection of mice from total body radiation (TBI), and the underlying protective mechanisms. Ilomastat treatment increased the survival of mice after TBI. Ilomastat pretreatment promoted recovery of hematological and immunological cells in mice after 6 Gy γ-ray TBI. Our findings suggest the potential of ilomastat to protect against or mitigate the effects of radiation.

RESUMEN

Indigenous Tibetan people have lived on the Tibetan Plateau for millennia. There is a long-standing question about the genetic basis of high-altitude adaptation in Tibetans. We conduct a genome-wide study of 7.3 million genotyped and imputed SNPs of 3,008 Tibetans and 7,287 non-Tibetan individuals of Eastern Asian ancestry. Using this large dataset, we detect signals of high-altitude adaptation at nine genomic loci, of which seven are unique. The alleles under natural selection at two of these loci [methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) and EPAS1] are strongly associated with blood-related phenotypes, such as hemoglobin, homocysteine, and folate in Tibetans. The folate-increasing allele of rs1801133 at the MTHFR locus has an increased frequency in Tibetans more than expected under a drift model, which is probably a consequence of adaptation to high UV radiation. These findings provide important insights into understanding the genomic consequences of high-altitude adaptation in Tibetans.

RESUMEN

Two new abscisic acid-type sesquiterpenes (1, 2), and one new ansamycin (3), together with four known ansamycins, namely ansacarbamitocins 4-7, were isolated from the fermentation extract of Amycolatopsis alba DSM 44262. The structures of the new compounds were elucidated to be (E)-3-methyl-5-(2,6,6-trimethyl-3-oxocyclohex-1-enyl)pent-2-enoic acid (1) and (E)-3-methyl-5-(2,6,6-trimethyl-4-oxocyclohex-2-enyl)pent-2-enoic acid (2), and 9-O-methylansacarbamitocin A1 (3), on the basis of comprehensive analysis of spectroscopic data, respectively. The antimicrobial activities were also evaluated for all seven compounds.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: Adipose tissue distributes widely in human body. The irradiation response of the adipose cells in vivo remains to be investigated. In this study we investigated irradiation response of adipose-derived stem cells (ASCs) under three-dimensional culture condition. METHODS: ASCs were isolated and cultured in low attachment dishes to form three-dimensional (3D) spheres in vitro. The neuronal differentiation potential and stem-liked characteristics was monitored by using immunofluoresence staining and flow cytometry in monolayer and 3D culture. To investigate the irradiation sensitivity of 3D sphere culture, the fraction of colony survival and micronucleus were detected in monolayer and 3D culture. Soft agar assays were performed for measuring malignant transformation for the irradiated monolayer and 3D culture. RESULTS: The 3D cultured ASCs had higher differentiation potential and an higher stem-like cell percentage. The 3D cultures were more radioresistant after either high linear energy transfer (LET) carbon ion beam or low LET X-ray irradiation compared with the monolayer cell. The ASCs' potential of cellular transformation was lower after irradiation by soft agar assay. CONCLUSION: These findings suggest that adipose tissue cell are relatively genomic stable and resistant to genotoxic stress.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the synergistic antibacterial effects of lysozyme with ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid disodium salt (EDTA-2Na) on Enterococcus faecalis (E. faecalis) and Porphyromonas endodontalis (P. endodontalis). METHODS: E. faecalis and P. endodontalis were cultured and adjusted to 10(8) CFU/mL. Then 0.3, 0.5, 1, 2, 5, 10, 50, 100, 150 and 300 g/L of lysozyme were prepared with deionized water; and the lysozyme solutions were mixed with 0.5, 1.0, 2.0 g/L of EDTA-2Na, respectively. The bacteria and lysosome with/without EDTA-2Na interacted for 15 min, then water-soluble tetrazolium (WST) working solution was added and the activity of the bacteria was calculated by measuring optical densities at 450 nm and 630 nm with microplate spectrophotometer. RESULTS: Regarding the pure lysozyme from 0.5 g/L to 150 g/L, more E. faecalis and P. endodontalis were inhibited when the concentration of lysozyme was higher, especially for E. faecalis. There was synergistic effect of lysozyme with EDTA-2Na on antibacterial activity, which was related to the concentration of lysozyme. On E. faecalis, the antibacterial activity of lysozyme with EDTA-2Na was 1.2-3.7 folds than the pure lysozyme when the concentration of lysozyme was 0.5-50 g/L (P<0.05), and on P. endodontalis, the antibacterial activity of lysozyme with EDTA-2Na was 1.3-3.5 folds than the pure lysozyme when the concentration of lysozyme was 0.5-10 g/L (P<0.05). When the concentration of lysozyme was higher than 100 g/L, EDTA-2Na did not show synergistic effect on the antibacterial activity (P>0.05). CONCLUSION: For E. faecalis and P. endodontalis, a low concentration of lysozyme with EDTA-2Na showed significant synergistic antibacterial activity, while a high concentration of lysozyme with EDTA-2Na did not.
