RESUMEN

A copper-catalyzed [4+2] cyclization reaction of isoquinolines and alkynes is developed for the one-step construction of isoquinolinone derivatives with multisubstituted bridging rings. The unique feature of this three-component tandem cyclization reaction is the functionalization of the C1, N2, C3, and C4 positions of 3-haloisoquinolines via the construction of new C-N, C═O, and C-C bonds. This dearomatization strategy for the synthesis of structurally complex isoquinolinone-bridged cyclic compounds offers good chemoselectivity, broad functional group compatibility, greenness, and high step economy.

RESUMEN

Age at mating is one of the most important factors that affect mating selection, sexual performance, and fecundity. We studied the effects of mating age on the mating performance and reproductive fitness of Plagiodera versicolora Laicharting, a serious pest of poplar and willow, by measuring the time from pairing to successful mating, mating duration, fecundity, hatching probability, and female lifespan. Delayed mating of females and males significantly prolonged the time from pairing to successful mating and the mating duration, but had no effect on the duration of the egg-laying period. Delayed mating of females did not significantly affect fecundity or egg hatching, but significantly prolonged the female lifespan. Although delayed mating of males had a significant negative impact on egg hatching, it had no effect on the lifespan or fecundity of females. These results indicate that delayed mating affects the mating performance of P. versicolora, although it has a limited effect on reproductive fitness. This suggests that delayed mating is unlikely to contribute to the success of mating disruption, when applied to control P. versicolora.

RESUMEN

MnO2 has been considered as the most promising bifunctional electrocatalyst toward oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Despite their highly active ORR performance, the OER catalytic activity of MnO2 species is still far from satisfying. Herein, for the first time, highly active OER catalytic NiFe layered double hydroxides (NiFe LDHs) are combined with MnO2 via a selective electrodeposition method to form a Janus electrode in which the MnO2 and NiFe LDHs are in situ grown on two sides of a porous nickel foam (MnO2-NiFe/Ni). The MnO2-NiFe/Ni electrode exhibits excellent bifunctional catalytic activity and stability for both ORR and OER compared to bare MnO2 on account of the rational design of the Janus bifunctional configuration separating OER and ORR active materials. Moreover, such a Janus MnO2-NiFe air electrode endows the zinc-air battery with better cycling stability and energy efficiency than the bare MnO2 electrode. Our work demonstrates a novel Janus electrode configuration to design high-performance electrocatalysts for energy storage and conversion applications.

RESUMEN

The preparation of efficient and low-cost bifunctional catalysts with superior stability for water splitting is a topic of significant current interest for hydrogen generation. A facile strategy has been developed to fabricate highly active electrodes with hierarchical porous structures by using a two-step electrodeposition method, in which NiFe layered double hydroxide is grown in situ on a three-dimensional hierarchical Ni mesh (NiFe/Ni/Ni). The as-prepared NiFe/Ni/Ni electrodes demonstrate remarkable structural stability with high surface areas, effective gas transportation, and fast electron transfer. Benefiting from the unique structure, the self-supported NiFe/Ni/Ni electrodes exhibit overpotentials of 190 mV and 300 mV for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) at current densities of 10 and 500 mA cm-2 , respectively. Furthermore, the self-supported NiFe/Ni/Ni electrodes also exhibit high performance in the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and excellent stability at a current density of 500 mA cm-2 for both OER and HER. Remarkably, using NiFe/Ni/Ni as both the cathode and anode for alkaline water electrolysis, a current density of 500 mA cm-2 is attained at a cell voltage of 1.96 V. Additionally, the water electrolyzer demonstrates superior stability even at a large current density (500 mA cm-2 ) when subjected to high temperatures.

RESUMEN

The performance of the suspension system is one of the most important factors in the vehicle design. For the double wishbone suspension system, the conventional deterministic optimization does not consider any deviations of design parameters, so design sensitivity analysis and robust optimization design are proposed. In this study, the design parameters of the robust optimization are the positions of the key points, and the random factors are the uncertainties in manufacturing. A simplified model of the double wishbone suspension is established by software ADAMS. The sensitivity analysis is utilized to determine main design variables. Then, the simulation experiment is arranged and the Latin hypercube design is adopted to find the initial points. The Kriging model is employed for fitting the mean and variance of the quality characteristics according to the simulation results. Further, a particle swarm optimization method based on simple PSO is applied and the tradeoff between the mean and deviation of performance is made to solve the robust optimization problem of the double wishbone suspension system.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate whether the dermal exposure to N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) exerts significant effects and to determine the unit increment of dermal exposure on the total body burden of two biomarkers in urine: metabolism-required N-methylformamide (U-NMF) and non-metabolized DMF (U-DMF) in actual occupational environments. METHODS: Exposure via respiratory and dermal routes was assessed on an individual basis for 75 workers from four DMF-related factories directly exposed to DMF. Respiratory exposure was determined by breathing-zone sampling for a full-work shift, and dermal exposure was assessed on the palms and forearms of both hands by an adhesive tape-patch method. U-NMF and U-DMF collected immediately postshift were measured. RESULTS: The average concentrations of airborne DMF, DMF on hands and on forearms, U-NMF, and U-DMF (GM) were 1.51 ppm, 0.04 microg/cm(2), 0.03 microg/cm(2), 0.47 mg/l, and 0.38 mg/l, respectively. In multiple linear regression tests, only airborne DMF and DMF on hands remained significantly (P<0.001) associated with U-NMF and U-DMF. Based on model estimates, the unit increment of hands' exposure (microg/cm(2)) could contribute to 0.53 and 0.46 mg/l of the increment of U-NMF and U-DMF, respectively, given a daily occupational airborne exposure to DMF at about 1.5 ppm. CONCLUSIONS: Dermal exposure provides a substantial contribution to the total body burden of DMF. A control remedy such as the enforcement of wearing impermeable gloves by workers occupationally exposed to DMF should be implemented with the highest priority.
