RESUMEN

In vitro fertilization (IVF) and embryo transfer and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) have allowed millions of infertile couples to achieve pregnancy. As an essential part of IVF/ICSI enabling the retrieval of a high number of oocytes in one cycle, controlled ovarian stimulation (COS) treatment mainly composes of the standard long gonadotrophin-releasing hormone agonist (GnRH-a) protocol and the gonadotrophin-releasing hormone antagonist (GnRH-ant) protocol. However, the effectiveness of GnRH-ant protocol is still debated because of inconsistent conclusions and insufficient subgroup analyses. This systematic review and meta-analysis included a total of 52 studies, encompassing 5193 participants in the GnRH-ant group and 4757 in the GnRH-a group. The findings of this study revealed that the GnRH-ant protocol is comparable with the long GnRH-a protocol when considering live birth as the primary outcome, and it is a favourable protocol with evidence reducing the incidence of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome in women undergoing IVF/ICSI, especially in women with polycystic ovary syndrome. Further research is needed to compare the subsequent cumulative live birth rate between the two protocols among the general and poor ovarian response patients since those patients have a lower clinical pregnancy rate, fewer oocytes retrieved or fewer high-grade embryos in the GnRH-ant protocol.

Removing the blocked molecular groups and fully exposing the intrinsic active sites of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) could give full play to their advantages of multi-active sites and multi-channel mass transfer, which will benefit the electrocatalytic oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) in fuel cells. Here, the partial diligandation-activated ZIF-67 (named as ZIF-67-400) with excellent ORR performance was obtained by simple low-temperature pyrolysis. The ORR electrocatalytic activity exhibits a half-wave potential of 0.82 V and the stability of maintaining 96% activity after 10 h of operation, which is comparable to commercial Pt/C. Further research studies reveal that the morphology, special dodecahedron configuration, and crystal structure of ZIF-67-400 are maintained well during the pyrolysis, but some hydrocarbon groups in the ligands are eliminated, resulting in the active sites being exposed and coordinated with the intrinsic porosity, improving the catalytic performance. This work may provide an alternative path for activating the electrocatalytic performance of metal-organic frameworks by low-temperature annealing.

RESUMEN

Background: Leiomyosarcoma (LMS) is a malignant spindle-cell mesenchymal tumor originating from the smooth muscle cells, which mostly affects soft tissues and abdominopelvic organs over extremities. Primary LMS of the penis is a relatively uncommon mesenchymal tissue disease and a poorly understood condition. Case Report: A 69-year-old man presented with a growing, painless mass protruding from the penis. The irregularly lobulated lump was roughly 3 cm × 2.5 cm, with a smooth surface, tough texture, distinct boundary, and no tenderness. It was determined to be a penile tumor during the preoperative radiological evaluation. The patient underwent resection of the penile mass, followed by extended resection in the second operation. The diagnosis of LMS was verified by pathological examination. During a 20-month follow-up, the patient made a smooth recovery and remained disease-free. Conclusion: An immunohistochemical examination is essential for rendering this rare diagnosis. Radical excision of tumor lesions with negative cut margins is guaranteed to be the best treatment for primary penile LMS. Close follow-up should be provided due to the high rate of local recurrence.
