To explore the stabilization effect of livestock manure biochar on Cd-contaminated soil and its impact on the soil environment, a pot experiment was conducted to investigate the stabilization efficiency of cattle manure-biochar (BC) and thiol-modified biochar (SBC) on Cd in soil and their effect on the soil properties and microbial community. The structural equation model (SEM) was used to analyze the effect pathways of BC and SBC on the soil microbial community. The results showed that BC and SBC increased soil pH, available potassium, available phosphorus, and organic matter content but decreased soil available nitrogen content compared with those in CK. The stabilization efficiency of BC for Cd in soil was 14.97%, which was much lower than that of SBC (85.71%). Moreover, SBC increased the abundance of dominant bacterial phyla in soil, with Proteobacteria, Bacteroidota, and Cyanobacteria increasing most significantly. SBC decreased the diversity of soil microorganisms, but the decrease was insignificant (P≥0.05) compared with that in CK and BC. SEM analysis indicated that the available phosphorus, available potassium, organic matter, and soil pH were the key factors influencing Cd availability in soil, whereas organic matter and Cd availability were the key factors affecting the soil microbial community. Overall, SBC could stabilize Cd effectively and increase the abundance of dominant bacteria and has great potential in the remediation of Cd-contaminated soil.

Mosquitoes (Diptera: Culicidae) are one of the most studied groups of arthropods worldwide due to their high transmission capacity for pathogens, including viruses and parasites. During June to October 2022, the prevalence of mosquito species in 12 intensive pig farms from 12 representative administrative regions in Hunan province of China was investigated using traps with ultraviolet light. All collected mosquitoes were counted and identified to species according to morphological and molecular methods. A total of 4,443 mosquito specimens were collected in the pig farms, and they represented one family, four genera and nine species. Culex pipiens pipiens (24%) was the most common mosquito species, followed by Armigeres subalbatus (23.4%) and Culex tritaeniorhynchus (20.6%). Phylogenetic analyses based on mitochondrial cox1 sequences revealed all mosquito species from present study grouping into distinct monophyletic groups corresponding to nine known mosquito species with strongly supported. The results of the present investigation have implications for the ongoing control of mosquito infestation in pig farms in Hunan province, China. This is the first report of mosquito populations in intensive pig farms in Hunan province, China.

RESUMEN

A novel Fe-catalyzed fluorosulfonylation of alkenes with Na2S2O4 and N-fluorobenzenesulfonimide (NFSI) for assembling various lactam-functionalized alkyl sulfonyl fluorides is disclosed. In this reaction, Na2S2O4 acts as both an SO2 source and a reductant. Furthermore, the resulting products can be efficiently transformed into valuable chemicals, including sulfonyl esters and sulfonamides, via the sulfur(VI) fluoride exchange (SuFEx) click reaction. Preliminary mechanistic studies suggest that the transformation proceeds through intramolecular radical cyclization, SO2 insertion, sulfite anion formation, and fluorination.

This paper aims to study the therapeutic effect of Massa Medicata Fermentata on hyperlipidemia model rats and investigate its mechanism of hypolipidemic effect with the help of non-targeted metabolomics. The mixed hyperlipidemia model rats were constructed by giving high-fat chow. After successful modeling, the rats were divided into the model group, pravastatin sodium group(4.4 mg·kg~(-1)), lipotropic group(0.1 g·kg~(-1)), high-dose group(2.4 g·kg~(-1)), medium-dose group(1.2 g·kg~(-1)), and low-dose group(0.6 g·kg~(-1)) of Massa Medicata Fermentata, and they were administered for four weeks once daily. An equal volume of ultrapure water was given to the blank group and model group. Serum lipid level and liver hematoxylin-eosin(HE) staining were used as indicators to estimate the intervention effect of Massa Medicata Fermentata on mixed hyperlipidemia, and the changes in metabolites in plasma of mixed hyperlipidemia model rats were analyzed by non-targeted metabolomics. The mechanism of the hypolipidemic effect of Massa Medicata Fermentata was analyzed through metabolite pathway enrichment. The results showed that compared with the model group, the Massa Medicata Fermentata administration group, especially the high-dose group, could significantly reduce the content of total cholesterol(TC), triglyceride(TG), and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-c)(P<0.05 or P<0.01), and liver HE staining revealed that the number of adipocytes in the high-dose group was reduced to some extent. The potential biomarkers obtained by non-targeted metabolomics screening included glycerol 3-phosphate, sphingomyelin, sphingosine 1-phosphate, and deoxyuridine, which were mainly involved in the sphingolipid metabolism process, glycerophospholipid metabolism process, glycerol ester metabolism pathway, and pyrimidine metabolism pathway, totaling four possible metabolic pathways related to lipid metabolism. This study provides a reference for an in-depth investigation of the hypolipidemic mechanism of Massa Medicata Fermentata, which is of great significance for further promoting the clinical application of Massa Medicata Fermentata and increasing the indications.

Introduction: Innate and acquired chemoresistance in colorectal cancer (CRC) often results in 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) treatment failure. This study aimed to investigate the potential of Jianpi Jiedu (JPJD) decoction to reverse 5-FU resistance in CRC and clarify its potential mechanism of action. Methods: The CCK-8 assay was employed to assess cell activity. Flow cytometry was employed to assess various parameters including cell apoptosis, cell cycle distribution, P-glycoprotein (P-gp) activity, reactive oxygen species levels, and lipid peroxidation. Metabolomics analysis was conducted to identify differentially expressed metabolites. Western blotting was utilized for protein expression analysis. Results: In this study, we demonstrated that the combined JPJD and 5-FU treatment reversed 5-FU resistance in HCT8/5-FU cells, inducing cell apoptosis, causing G2/M-phase cell cycle arrest, and reducing P-gp protein expression and activity. Metabolomics analysis revealed ferroptosis as a key pathway in the development of 5-FU resistance. Furthermore, the combination treatment reversed drug resistance primarily by impacting ferroptosis and triggering critical ferroptosis events through the suppression of the cystine/glutamate transporter (xCT)/glutathione (GSH)/glutathione peroxidase (GPX4) axis. Conclusion: JPJD decoction primarily suppressed the xCT/GSH/GPX4 axis to trigger ferroptosis, thereby effectively reversing 5-FU resistance in colorectal cancer (CRC).

Immunotherapy, particularly immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICIs) therapy, stands as an innovative therapeutic approach currently garnering substantial attention in cancer treatment. It has become a focal point of numerous studies, showcasing significant potential in treating malignancies, including lung cancer and melanoma. The objective of this research is to analyze publications regarding immunotherapy for colorectal cancer (CRC), investigating their attributes and identifying the current areas of interest and cutting-edge advancements. We took into account the publications from 2002 to 2022 included in the Web of Science Core Collection. Bibliometric analysis and visualization were conducted using CiteSpace, VOSviewer, R-bibliometrix, and Microsoft Excel. The quantity of publications associated with this domain has been steadily rising over the years, encompassing 3753 articles and 1498 reviews originating from 573 countries and regions, involving 19,166 institutions, 1011 journals, and 32,301 authors. In this field, China, the United States, and Italy are the main countries that come forward for publishing. The journal with the greatest impact factor is CA-A Cancer Journal for Clinicians. Romain Cohen leads in the number of publications, while Le Dt stands out as the most influential author. The immune microenvironment and immune infiltration are emerging as key hotspots and future research directions in this domain. This research carries out an extensive bibliometric examination of immunotherapy for colorectal cancer, aiding researchers in understanding current focal points, investigating possible avenues for research, and recognizing forthcoming development trends.

Objective: In this study, we aim to examine the effects of osteotomy under varying posterior slope angles on knee joint function recovery following knee arthroplasty. Methods: We conducted a retrospective analysis from September 2015 to September 2018 on 240 patients who underwent knee arthroplasty three years previously. The study participants were categorized based on changes in the angle of the posterior slope before and after surgery: Group 1, > 5°; Group 2, 3°-5°; Group 3, 0°-3°; Group 4, -3°-0°; Group 5, < -3°. All participants were affected with knee osteoarthritis. The Knee Society Clinical Rating System (KSS) knee function score, Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Arthritis Index (WOMAC) knee function score, Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) pain score, and postoperative complications were measured 3 years after surgery. Results: The level of pain experienced by the patients decreased significantly than before, with pain scores ranging from 1.0-3.0, and there was a statistical difference between groups (H = 93.400, P < 0.001). The KSS score increased, with group 5 having the lowest median score of 78.0 and group 2 having the highest median score of 97.0, and there was a statistical difference between groups (H = 164.460, P < 0.001). The WOMAC score was reduced, with the median score being 24.0, 11.0, 14.0, 20.0, and 26.0, in the five groups, respectively. Group 5 had the highest score, while Group 2 had the lowest score, and there was a statistically significant difference between groups (H = 164.223, P < 0.001). No symptoms such as periprosthetic femoral fracture, prosthetic loosening, or pad wear were detected in patients postoperatively. Conclusion: Osteotomy at various posterior slope angles in total knee arthroplasty impacts postoperative knee function rehabilitation. An excessive increase or decrease in angle can have an impact on the postoperative recovery of knee function.

The exploration of cytology mechanisms of nanosilver uptake, toxicity, and detoxification has become an important issue due to its widespread applications. Previous studies have shown differences in the toxic response of mammalian cells to nanosilver. However, the analysis results based on cell populations ignore the impact of cell uptake heterogeneity on the expression of associated stress proteins and cellular physiological activities. In this respect, this work investigated the interaction between silver uptake and metallothionein (MT) expression in individual cells. In addition, we have also preliminarily elucidated the sensitivity variation to AgNPs by using five cell lines, e.g., LX-2, HepG-2, SK-HEP-1, Huh-7, and MDA-MB-231, by adopting a two-dimensional (2D) high-throughput single-cell analysis platform coupling laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). We developed a 2D data analysis method for one-to-one unification of fluorescence-mass spectrometry signals corresponding to a specific single cell. It indicated that there is no obvious correlation between cellular silver uptake and cell size, and the low MT expression of cells is more sensitive to silver nanoparticles. For each cell line, significant heterogeneity in MT expression was observed. This provides important information for understanding the potential heterogeneous effects of nanosilver on mammalian biological systems. Overall, detoxified cells are more tolerant to nanosilver and normal cells are more tolerant than cancer cells.

Sleep deprivation (SD) has become a universal social problem. There is a causal relationship between SD and energy metabolism disorder. Phytochemicals have been demonstrated to have excellent sleep-promoting effects, and studies have shown that ginsenoside Rg5 (Rg5) exerts sedative and hypnotic effects. The present study aimed to investigate the role of Rg5 in regulating energy metabolism and explore the potential mechanism of improving sleep. Sleep-deprived rats were randomly divided into a control group (Ctrl), SD model group (SD), Rg5 group (GRg5), and melatonin group (MT). Sleep-deprived model rats were generated by housing rats in an SD box for 4 weeks. The Ctrl and SD groups were given equal volumes of saline. The Rg5 groups were given 25[Formula: see text]mg/kg Rg5 or 50[Formula: see text]mg/kg Rg5, and the MT group was given 0.27[Formula: see text]g/kg MT. A Western blot analysis and ELISA were used to detect the metabolic levels, mitochondrial functional proteins, AMPK pathway proteins, clock-related proteins, adenosine receptors, and neurotransmitter receptors. The results showed that Rg5 corrected abnormal glucose and lipid metabolism as well as improved ATP levels. In addition, Rg5 alleviated mitochondrial structural damage and improved the expression of proteins involved in mitochondrial biosynthesis, fission, and fusion. Moreover, Rg5 improved the expression of AMPK/PGC-1/Nrf-1 pathway proteins, regulated mitochondrial biological functions, and affected the rhythm characteristics of circadian clock-related proteins. Further, Rg5 improved the expression of A1R and A[Formula: see text]R as well as regulated the expression levels of GABAA1[Formula: see text] and mGluR5 to improve sleep in SD rats.

A Pd-catalyzed multicomponent cross-coupling of allyl esters with alkyl bromides to synthesize allylic sulfones by using K2S2O5 as a connector is first reported. The reaction displays a broad range of substrate generality along with excellent functional group compatibility and produces the products with high regioselectivity (only E). Furthermore, the biologically active molecules with a late-stage modification, including aspirin, menthol, borneol, and estrone, are also highly compatible with the multicomponent cross-coupling reaction. Mechanistic studies indicate that the process of SO2 insertion into the C-Pd bond was involved in this transformation.

Aims: The outcomes of total knee arthroplasty (TKA) are affected by many factors. This study aims to evaluate whether changes in the posterior tibial slope (PTS) affect patients' outcomes after cruciate-retaining TKA by affecting tibiofemoral articular contact kinematics. It was hypothesized that changes in PTS affect the outcomes of PCR TKA by affecting tibiofemoral articular contact kinematics. Methods: A total of 60 knees (30 patients) that underwent posterior cruciate-retaining TKA (with the same size prosthesis) for medial osteoarthritis were assessed preoperatively and one year postoperatively. Before and after TKA, changes in the PTS, as seen on lateral radiographs, were noted. The knees were placed in groups according to these PTS changes (preoperative value - postoperative value): group 1 >3° change and group 2 ≤3° change. Knee kinematics were observed under mid-flexion weight-bearing conditions and were compared between the two groups using the two-dimensional/three-dimensional registration technique. Pain was measured using the visual analog scale, and knee function was assessed using the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) and the Knee Society Score (KSS). Results: Group 2 experienced paradoxical anterior motion of the medial femoral condyle postoperatively, but group 1 did not. A comparison of the results of the TKA between the two groups showed a significant difference in pain using the visual analog scale, and knee function of the KSS and the WOMAC (P < 0.05). The postoperative results were better in group 1 than in group 2. Conclusions: These results suggest that achieving a greater change in the PTS improves outcomes in patients undergoing posterior cruciate-retaining TKA because it reduces the paradoxical motion of the medial femoral condyle.

Culex mosquitoes (Diptera: Culicidae) can transmit a variety of arthropod-borne viruses (arboviruses), causing human and animal diseases. Cx. vishnui, Cx. pseudovishnui, and Cx. tritaeniorhynchus are three representative species in Culex vishnui subgroup, which are widely distributed in southeast Asia, and they have been proved as the main vectors transmitting Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) that could cause human infectious mosquito-borne disease across Asia. However, the epidemiology, biology, and even molecular information of those mosquitos remain poorly understood, and only the mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) of Cx. tritaeniorhynchus has been reported in these species. In the present study, we sequenced and annotated the complete mitogenome sequence of Cx. vishnui which was 15,587 bp in length, comprising 37 genes. Comparisons of nucleotide and amino acid sequences between Cx. vishnui and Cx. tritaeniorhynchus revealed that most genes within Culex vishnui subgroup were conserved, except atp8, nad1, atp6, and nad6, with differences of 0.4 (rrnS) - 15.1% (tRNAs) and 0 (nad4L) - 9.4% (atp8), respectively, interestingly suggesting the genes nad4L and rrnS were the most conserved but atp8 gene was the least. The results based on nucleotide diversity also supported a relatively uniform distribution of the intraspecific differences in Cx. vishnui and Cx. tritaeniorhynchus with only one highly pronounced peak of divergence centered at the control region. Phylogenetic analyses using concatenated amino acid sequences of 13 protein-coding genes supported the previous taxonomic classification of the family Culicidae and the monophyly of tribes Aedini, Culicini, Mansoniini, and Sabethini. The present study revealed detailed information on the subgroup Culex vishnui, reanalyzed the relationships within the family Culicidae, provided better markers to identify and distinguish Culex species, and offered more markers for studying the molecular epidemiology, population genetics, and molecular phylogenetics of Cx. vishnui.

A novel multicomponent sulfonylation of alkenes is described for the assembly of various ß-substituted arylsulfones using cheap and easily available K2S2O5 as a sulfur dioxide source. Of note, the procedure does not need any extra oxidants and metal catalysts and exhibits a relatively wide substrate scope and good functional group compatibility. Mechanistically, an initial arylsulfonyl radical is formed involving the insertion of sulfur dioxide with aryl diazonium salt, followed by alkoxyarylsulfonylation or hydroxysulfonylation of alkenes.

Screw loosening is a widely reported issue after spinal screw fixation and triggers several complications. Biomechanical deterioration initially causes screw loosening. Studies have shown that incomplete insertion of pedicle screws increases the risk of screw breakage by deteriorating the local mechanical environment. However, whether this change has a biomechanical effect on the risk of screw loosening has not been determined. This study conducted comprehensive biomechanical research using polyurethane foam mechanical tests and corresponding numerical simulations to verify this topic. Pedicle screw-fixed polyurethane foam models with screws with four different insertion depths were constructed, and the screw anchoring ability of different models was verified by toggle tests with alternating and constant loads. Moreover, the stress distribution of screw and bone-screw interfaces in different models was computed in corresponding numerical mechanical models. Mechanical tests presented better screw anchoring ability with deeper screw insertion, but parameters presented no significant difference between groups with complete thread insertion. Correspondingly, higher stress values can be recorded in the model without complete thread insertion; the difference in stress values between models with complete thread insertion was relatively slight. Therefore, incomplete thread insertion triggers local stress concentration and the corresponding risk of screw loosening; completely inserting threads could effectively alleviate local stress concentration and result in the prevention of screw loosening.

BJC16-A38T, a Gram-negative, aerobic and non-motile rod-shaped strain was isolated from a permafrost wetland soil sample. BJC16-A38T was oxidase- and catalase-positive, and produced pale yellow colonies on modified R2A agar plates. The 16S rRNA gene sequence of BJC16-A38T shared the highest sequence similarity with those of Mucilaginibacter xinganensis BJC16-A31T (97.44%), Mucilaginibacter gotjawali SA3-7T (96.79%) and Mucilaginibacter frigoritolerans FT22T (96.14%). Phylogenetic analysis revealed that BJC16-A38T formed a separate lineage together with strain M. xinganensis BJC16-A31T in the genus Mucilaginibacter. BJC16-A38T contained menaquinone-7 (MK-7) as the predominant isoprenoid quinine. Major fatty acids in cells were iso-C15:0, summed feature 3 (16:1ω7c/16:1ω6c) and iso-C17:03-OH. BJC16-A38T contained phosphatidylethanolamine, two unknown polar lipids, six unidentified phospholipids and an unidentified aminolipid. The Genome of BJC16-A38T was sequenced using the Genome Analyzer IIx sequence platform and 38 contigs were produced in total with an average G + C percentage of 44.00%. The average nucleotide identity (ANI) of BJC16-A38T with respect to those of M. xinganensis BJC16-A31T, M. gotjawali SA3-7T and M. frigoritolerans FT22T were 79.60%, 77.24% and 77.58%, respectively. Digital DNA-DNA hybridization (DDH) values between BJC16-A38T and the tree reference strains were 21.30%, 19.60% and 19.70%, respectively. BJC16-A38T exhibited phenanthrene biodegradation activity that can degrade 88.02% phenanthrene in the MM medium after 7 days cultivation. Phenotypic, chemotaxonomic, phylogenetic and genomic characteristics concluded that strain BJC16-A38T represents a novel species of the genus Mucilaginibacter. Hence, the name Mucilaginibacter phenanthrenivorans sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is BJC16-A38T (= CGMCC 1.12693T = NBRC 110383T).

Herein, trace phytoavailable heavy metals in soil are first extracted by 0.1 M NaNO3, afterwards adsorbed onto an activated carbon tip via electroextraction (EE), and finally analyzed by dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) microplasma optical emission spectrometry (OES) via in situ desorption. The activated carbon tip is not only able to extract heavy metals from alkali metals/alkaline earth metals matrix, resisting the interference of coexisting anions and non-electroactive species in saline soil extract, but also significantly improves the detection sensitivity of subsequent DBD-OES analysis by increasing loading amounts of analytes. Taking the key heavy metals pollution as model, the detection limits of Cd, Zn, Cu and Pb reach 0.8, 2.3, 6.0 and 4.5 µg kg-1, respectively, and precisions are within 2.7-4.6%. The accuracy and practicability of the present miniaturized EE-DBD-OES device have been verified by measuring several certified reference materials and real soil samples, providing a promising tool for convenient and sensitive analysis of trace phytoavailable heavy metals in soil.

BACKGROUND: Ciprofol is a recently developed, short-acting γ-aminobutyric acid receptor agonist sedative that is more potent than propofol, but there have been few clinical studies of this agent to date. Here, we sought to examine the safety and efficacy of ciprofol use for the induction of general anesthesia in individuals undergoing gynecological surgery. METHODS: Women between the ages of 18 and 60 years (ASA physical status 1 or 2) who were scheduled to undergo elective gynecological surgery under general anesthesia were randomly assigned to two equally sized groups in which anesthesia induction was performed using either ciprofol or propofol. General anesthesia induction success rates were the primary outcome for this study, while secondary outcomes included changes in BIS during the 10 min following the first administration of the study drug, the duration of successful induction, and adverse event incidence. RESULTS: A total of 120 women were included in the study. A 100% rate of successful induction was achieved in both the ciprofol and propofol groups, with no significant differences between these groups with respect to the duration of successful induction (34.8 ± 15.5 s vs 35.4 ± 9.5 s, P = 0.832), the time to the disappearance of the eyelash reflex (33.7 ± 10.6 s vs 34.0 ± 6.5 s, P = 0.860), or tracheal intubation (58.2 ± 31.1 s vs 53.9 ± 25.4 s, P = 0.448). Adverse event rates, including intubation responses, were significantly lower in the ciprofol group as compared to the propofol group(20% vs 48.33%, P = 0.0019). Ciprofol was associated with reduced injection pain relative to propofol (16.7% vs 58.3%, P < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS: Ciprofol exhibits comparable efficacy to that of propofol when used for the induction of general anesthesia in individuals undergoing gynecological surgery and is associated with fewer adverse events.

Laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry imaging of biologically significant targets largely relies on maintaining the original structures of samples. The temperature regulation capability of the ablation cell is crucial. Herein, a rapid cooling cryogenic sample cell (RCCSC) was developed. In the RCCSC chamber, the temperature reduces to -20 °C in 4 min with a minimum 10 h variation of ±0.1 °C at -26 °C. Improvements on the precision were achieved for the elements of interest in NIST 612 and spiked agarose gel under cryogenic conditions. The limits of detection improved by up to 1.57, 1.70, 3.26, and 1.33 fold for 63Cu, 66Zn, 57Fe, and 140Ce in agarose gel, respectively, were obtained under cryogenic conditions compared with those at room temperature. In a time period of testing (10 h), the cryogenic ablation maintains the native state of biological tissues with a high water content to ensure better elemental imaging by reducing thermal effects in ablation and suppressing evaporation of water. The rapid cooling cryogenic ablation significantly improves elemental imaging, as demonstrated by the imaging of various elements in coriander leaves. The present study may provide further insights into elemental distributions in fresh biological samples.

The effect of Danhong Injection on the endogenous metabolites of rabbit platelets was analyzed by the liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry( LC-MS) based metabonomic approach. Anti-platelet aggregation was detected after Danhong Injection treatment and the changes of platelet metabolites were analyzed by metabonomics. Principal component analysis( PCA) and partial least squares discriminant analysis( PLS-DA) were performed to investigate the effect of Danhong Injection on endogenous metabolites of platelets,characterize the biomarkers,and explore the relevant pathways and the underlying mechanism. As demonstrated by the pharmacodynamic results,Danhong Injection of different doses and concentrations antagonized platelet aggregation in a dose-and concentration-dependent manner. In contrast to the control group,25 differential metabolites such as nicotinic acid,nicotinic acid riboside,and hypoxanthine were screened out after platelets were treated by Danhong Injection. These metabolites,serving as important biomarkers,were mainly enriched in the nicotinic acid-niacinamide metabolic pathway and purine metabolic pathway. This study explored the therapeutic mechanism of Danhong Injection from a microscopic perspective by metabonomics,which is expected to provide a new idea for the investigation of platelet-related mechanisms.

Previous research has indicated that triploid crucian carp (3n fish) have preferential resistance to cadmium (Cd) compared to Carassius auratas red var. (2n fish). In this article, comparative research is further conducted between the 2n and 3n fish in terms of the immune response to Cd-induced stress. Exposure to 9 mg/L Cd for 96 h changed the hepatic function indexes remarkably in the 2n fish, but not in the 3n fish. In the serum of Cd-treated 2n fish, the levels of alanine amino transferase, aspartate aminotransferase, adenosine deaminase, and total bilirubin significantly increased, while the levels of total protein, albumin, lysozyme, and anti-superoxide anion radicals decreased demonstrating hepatotoxicity. By analysis of transcriptome profiles, many immune-related pathways were found to be involved in the response of 3n fish to the Cd-induced stress. Expression levels of the immune genes, including the interleukin genes, tumor necrosis factor super family member genes, chemokine gene, toll-like receptor gene, and inflammatory marker cyclooxygenase 2 gene were significantly enhanced in the hepatopancreas of the Cd-treated 3n fish. In contrast, the expression levels of these genes decreased in the 2n fish. This research provides a theoretical basis for polyploid fish breeding and is helpful for the ecological restoration of water due to pollution.
