RESUMEN

This article investigates the leaderless output consensus control problem for a class of nonlinear multiagent systems with heterogenous system orders and unmatched unknown parameters via output-feedback control. The interaction topology among the agents is undirected and jointly connected. Due to the heterogenous system orders and switching topology among the agents, the classical distributed adaptive backstepping-based control technique cannot be applied to solve the problem considered in this article. To solve this issue, a novel distributed reference system is first proposed for each agent, by using only relative outputs of the neighboring agents. Subsequently, a fully distributed reference system-based adaptive leaderless output consensus control scheme is designed via output-feedback control. A remarkable merit of the proposed control scheme lies in that precisely known nonlinear dynamics, system states, distributed parameter estimates, and the states of virtual reference system are no longer needed to be shared with neighbors. This implies that the communication burden can be effectively alleviated, and even the communication network can be replaced by some perception sensors. Finally, two illustrative examples are provided to verify the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme.

INTRODUCTION: Hepatic encephalopathy (HE) is a severe neuropsychiatric complication of liver diseases characterized by neuroinflammation. The efficacies of nonabsorbable rifaximin (RIF) and lactulose (LAC) have been well documented in the treatment of HE. [18F]PBR146 is a translocator protein (TSPO) radiotracer used for in vivo neuroinflammation imaging. This study investigated anti-neuroinflammation effect of RIF or/and LAC in chronic HE rats by [18F]PBR146 micro-PET/CT. METHODS: Bile duct ligation (BDL) operation induced chronic HE models, and this study included Sham+normal saline (NS), BDL+NS, BDL+RIF, BDL+LAC, and BDL+RIF+LAC groups. Behavioral assessment was performed to analyze the motor function, and fecal samples were collected after successfully established the chronic HE model (more than 28 days post-surgery). In addition, fecal samples collection and micro-PET/CT scans were performed sequentially. And we also collected the blood plasma, liver, intestinal, and brain samples after sacrificing the rats for further biochemical and pathological analyses. RESULTS: The RIF- and/or LAC-treated BDL rats showed similar behavioral results with Sham+NS group, while the treatment could not reverse the biliary obstruction resulting in sustained liver injury. The RIF or/and LAC treatments can inhibit IFN-γ and IL-10 productions. The global brain uptake values of [18F]PBR146 in BDL+NS group was significantly higher than other groups (p < .0001). The brain regions analysis showed that the basal ganglia, hippocampus, and cingulate cortex had radiotracer uptake differences among groups (all p < .05), which were consistent with the brain immunohistochemistry results. Sham+NS group was mainly enriched in Christensenella, Coprobacillus, and Pseudoflavonifractor. BDL+NS group was mainly enriched in Barnesiella, Alloprevotella, Enterococcus, and Enterorhabdus. BDL+RIF+LAC group was enriched in Parabacteroides, Bacteroides, Allobaculum, Bifidobacterium, and Parasutterella. CONCLUSIONS: RIF or/and LAC had anti-neuroinflammation in BDL-induced chronic HE rats with gut microbiota alterations. The [18F]PBR146 could be used for monitoring RIF or/and LAC treatment efficacy of chronic HE rats.

Influenza vaccination is the most cost-effective strategy for influenza prevention. Influenza vaccines have been found to be effective against symptomatic and medically attended outpatient influenza illnesses. However, there is currently a lack of data regarding the effectiveness of inactivated influenza vaccines in Chongqing, China. We conducted a prospective observational test-negative design study. Outpatient and emergency cases presenting with influenza-like illnesses (ILI) and available influenza reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) were selected and classified as cases (positive influenza RT-PCR) or controls (negative influenza RT-PCR). A total of 7,307 cases of influenza and 7,905 control subjects were included in this study. The overall adjusted influenza vaccine effectiveness (IVE) was 44.4% (95% confidence interval (CI): 32.5-54.2%). In the age groups of less than 6 years old, 6-18 years old, and 19-59 years old, the adjusted IVE were 32.2% (95% CI: 10.0-48.9%), 48.2% (95% CI: 30.6-61.4%), and 72.0% (95% CI: 43.6-86.1%). The adjusted IVE for H1N1, H3N2 and B (Victoria) were 71.1% (95% CI: 55.4-81.3%), 36.1% (95% CI: 14.6-52.2%) and 33.7% (95% CI: 14.6-48.5%). Influenza vaccination was effective in Chongqing from 2018 to 2022. Evaluating IVE in this area is feasible and should be conducted annually in the future.

APOE ε4 is risk for cognitive decline even in normal aging, but its effect on the whole-brain functional connectivity (FC) among time in young adults remain elusive. This study aimed to validate the time-by-APOE ε4 interaction on brain FC of this specific population. Longitudinal changes in neuropsychological assessments and resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging in 26 ε4 carriers and 26 matched non-ε4 carriers were measured for about 3 years. Whole-brain FC was calculated, and a full factorial design was used to compare the difference among groups. Two-sample t test was used for post-hoc analysis. Pearson's correlation analysis was conducted to investigate the relationships between FC and cognitive tests. Of 26 specially appointed ROIs, left superior temporal gyrus (TG) was most sensitive to the effect of time-by-gene interaction. Specifically, the alteration of FC was distributed between the left TG and right TG with GRF correction (voxel-P < 0.001, cluster-P < 0.05), and decreased in ε4 carriers while increased in non-ε4. The main effect of gene showed ε4 carriers has lower FC between left TG and right middle frontal gyrus as compared with non-ε4 both at baseline and follow-up study; ε4 carriers has lower FC between left TG and right supramarginal as compared with non-ε4 at baseline, but no difference in follow-up study. The time-by-APOE ε4 interaction on brain FC was demonstrated at a young age, and left TG was the earliest affected brain regions. The young adult ε4 carriers experience decreased FC among time in the absence overt clinical symptoms.

Background: Peritoneal lesions present diagnostic challenges, necessitating precise imaging techniques. Endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration (EUS-FNA) offers a promising approach for accurate diagnosis, aiding in optimal patient management and treatment planning. Objective: This study aims to assess the diagnostic efficacy of EUS-FNA in peritoneal lesions to offer insight in guiding optimal patient management. Methods: A prospective observational study was conducted, and a total of 58 patients who underwent EUS-FNA of the peritoneum at our hospital between October 2021 and November 2021 were included. The ultrasound diagnostic instrument facilitated puncture guidance, with 2-5 punctures performed in various parts of the selected peritoneal lesion areas. The analysis encompassed evaluating the sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, and negative predictive value of biopsy for diagnosing peritoneal-associated lesions, alongside assessing the number of punctures, puncture satisfaction, and incidence of postoperative complications. Results: The included patients undergoing EUS-FNA revealed that 41 (70.69%) had malignant lesions, while 17 (29.31%) presented with benign lesions. The diagnostic accuracy of EUS-FNA for peritoneal lesions was determined to be 94.83%, with a diagnostic sensitivity of 97.30% for malignant tumors, specificity of 90.48%, positive predictive value of 94.74%, and negative predictive value of 95%. Lesions exhibited a size range of 2.5cm × 2.9cm to 15.2cm × 9.8cm. Each patient underwent 2-5 punctures (3.3 ± 1.4), with a puncture satisfaction rate of 96.55%. The incidence of postoperative complications following EUS-FNA was found to be 3.45%. Conclusion: EUS-FNA exhibits substantial diagnostic utility for peritoneal-related lesions, marked by exceptional accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, and favorable safety. Its clinical adoption is warranted, promising improved patient care and management.

To optimize seasonal influenza control and prevention programs in regions with potentially complicated seasonal patterns. Descriptive epidemiology was used to analyze the etiology of influenza, and chi-square tests were used to compare the epidemic patterns among different influenza virus types and subtypes/lineages. From January 2010 to December 2019, a total of 63,626 ILI cases were reported in Chongqing and 14,136 (22.22%) were laboratory-confirmed influenza cases. The proportions of specimens positive for influenza A and influenza B were 13.32% (8,478/63,626) and 8.86% (5,639/63,626), respectively. The proportion of positive specimens for influenza A reached the highest in winter (23.33%), while the proportion of positive specimens for influenza B reached the highest in spring (11.88%). Children aged 5-14 years old had the highest proportion of positive specimens for influenza. The influenza virus types/subtypes positive was significantly different by seasons and age groups (P<.001), but not by gender (p = .436). The vaccine strains were matched to the circulating influenza virus strains in all other years except for 2018 (vaccine strain was B/Colorado/06/2017; circulating strain was B/Yamagata). The study showed significant variations in epidemic patterns, including seasonal epidemic period and age distributions, among different influenza types, subtypes/lineages in Chongqing. Influenza vaccines matched to the circulating influenza virus strain in nine of the ten years. To prevent and mitigate the influenza outbreaks in this area, high risk population, especially children aged 5-14 years, are encouraged to get vaccinated against influenza before the epidemic seasons.

BACKGROUND: This multicenter, double-blinded, randomized controlled trial (RCT) aims to assess the impact of an artificial intelligence (AI)-based model on the efficacy of intracranial aneurysm detection in CT angiography (CTA) and its influence on patients' short-term and long-term outcomes. METHODS: Study design: Prospective, multicenter, double-blinded RCT. SETTINGS: The model was designed for the automatic detection of intracranial aneurysms from original CTA images. PARTICIPANTS: Adult inpatients and outpatients who are scheduled for head CTA scanning. Randomization groups: (1) Experimental Group: Head CTA interpreted by radiologists with the assistance of the True-AI-integrated intracranial aneurysm diagnosis strategy (True-AI arm). (2) Control Group: Head CTA interpreted by radiologists with the assistance of the Sham-AI-integrated intracranial aneurysm diagnosis strategy (Sham-AI arm). RANDOMIZATION: Block randomization, stratified by center, gender, and age group. PRIMARY OUTCOMES: Coprimary outcomes of superiority in patient-level sensitivity and noninferiority in specificity for the True-AI arm to the Sham-AI arm in intracranial aneurysms. SECONDARY OUTCOMES: Diagnostic performance for other intracranial lesions, detection rates, workload of CTA interpretation, resource utilization, treatment-related clinical events, aneurysm-related events, quality of life, and cost-effectiveness analysis. BLINDING: Study participants and participating radiologists will be blinded to the intervention. SAMPLE SIZE: Based on our pilot study, the patient-level sensitivity is assumed to be 0.65 for the Sham-AI arm and 0.75 for the True-AI arm, with specificities of 0.90 and 0.88, respectively. The prevalence of intracranial aneurysms for patients undergoing head CTA in the hospital is approximately 12%. To establish superiority in sensitivity and noninferiority in specificity with a margin of 5% using a one-sided α = 0.025 to ensure that the power of coprimary endpoint testing reached 0.80 and a 5% attrition rate, the sample size was determined to be 6450 in a 1:1 allocation to True-AI or Sham-AI arm. DISCUSSION: The study will determine the precise impact of the AI system on the detection performance for intracranial aneurysms in a double-blinded design and following the real-world effects on patients' short-term and long-term outcomes. The flower coloration of Brassica crops possesses significant application and economic value, making it a research hotspot in the field of genetics and breeding. In recent years, great progress has been made in the research on color variation and creation of Brassica crops. However, the underlying molecular mechanisms and evolutional processes of flower colors are poorly understood. In this paper, we present a comprehensive overview of the mechanism of flower color formation in plants, emphasizing the molecular basis and regulation mechanism of flavonoids and carotenoids. By summarizing the recent advances on the genetic mechanism of flower color formation and regulation in Brassica crops, it is clearly found that carotenoids and anthocyanins are major pigments for flower color diversity of Brassica crops. Meantime, we also explore the relationship between the emergence of white flowers and the genetic evolution of Brassica chromosomes, and analyze the innovation and multiple utilization of Brassica crops with colorful flowers. This review aims to provide theoretical support for genetic improvements in flower color, enhancing the economic value and aesthetic appeal of Brassica crops.

Purple phototrophic bacteria possess light-harvesting 1 and reaction center (LH1-RC) core complexes that play a key role in converting solar energy to chemical energy. High-resolution structures of LH1-RC and RC complexes have been intensively studied and have yielded critical insight into the architecture and interactions of their proteins, pigments, and cofactors. Nevertheless, a detailed picture of the structure and assembly of LH1-only complexes is lacking due to the intimate association between LH1 and the RC. To study the intrinsic properties and structure of an LH1-only complex, a genetic system was constructed to express the Thermochromatium (Tch.) tepidum LH1 complex heterologously in a modified Rhodospirillum rubrum mutant strain. The heterologously expressed Tch. tepidum LH1 complex was isolated in a pure form free of the RC and exhibited the characteristic absorption properties of Tch. tepidum. Cryo-EM structures of the LH1-only complexes revealed a closed circular ring consisting of either 14 or 15 αß-subunits, making it the smallest completely closed LH1 complex discovered thus far. Surprisingly, the Tch. tepidum LH1-only complex displayed even higher thermostability than that of the native LH1-RC complex. These results reveal previously unsuspected plasticity of the LH1 complex, provide new insights into the structure and assembly of the LH1-RC complex, and show how molecular genetics can be exploited to study membrane proteins from phototrophic organisms whose genetic manipulation is not yet possible.

Humantenmine, koumine, and gelsemine are three indole alkaloids found in the highly toxic plant Gelsemium. Humantenmine was the most toxic, followed by gelsemine and koumine. The aim of this study was to investigate and analyze the effects of these three substances on tissue distribution and toxicity in mice pretreated with the Cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) inducer ketoconazole and the inhibitor rifampicin. The in vivo test results showed that the three alkaloids were absorbed rapidly and had the ability to penetrate the blood-brain barrier. At 5 min after intraperitoneal injection, the three alkaloids were widely distributed in various tissues and organs, the spleen and pancreas were the most distributed, and the content of all tissues decreased significantly at 20 min. Induction or inhibition of CYP3A4 in vivo can regulate the distribution and elimination effects of the three alkaloids in various tissues and organs. Additionally, induction of CYP3A4 can reduce the toxicity of humantenmine, and vice versa. Changes in CYP3A4 levels may account for the difference in toxicity of humantenmine. These findings provide a reliable and detailed dataset for drug interactions, tissue distribution, and toxicity studies of Gelsemium alkaloids.

A mounting body of evidences suggests that patients with chronic heart failure (HF) frequently experience cognitive impairments, but the neuroanatomical mechanism underlying these impairments remains elusive. In this retrospective study, 49 chronic HF patients and 49 healthy controls (HCs) underwent brain structural MRI scans and cognitive assessments. Cortical morphology index (cortical thickness, complexity, sulcal depth and gyrification) were evaluated. Correlations between cortical morphology and cognitive scores and clinical variables were explored. Logistic regression analysis was employed to identify risk factors for predicting 3-year major adverse cardiovascular events. Compared with HCs, patients with chronic HF exhibited decreased cognitive scores (p < .001) and decreased cortical thickness, sulcal depth and gyrification in brain regions involved cognition, sensorimotor, autonomic nervous system (family-wise error correction, all p values <.05). Notably, HF duration and New York Heart Association (NYHA) demonstrated negative correlations with abnormal cortex morphology, particularly HF duration and thickness in left precentral gyrus (r = -.387, p = .006). Cortical morphology characteristics exhibited positive associations with global cognition, particularly cortical thickness in left pars opercularis (r = .476, p < .001). NYHA class is an independent risk factor for adverse outcome (p = .001). The observed correlation between abnormal cortical morphology and global cognition suggested that cortical morphology may serve as a promising imaging biomarker and provide insights into neuroanatomical underpinnings of cognitive impairment in patients with chronic HF.

BACKGROUND: Cardiac cycle morphological changes can accelerate plaque growth proximal to myocardial bridging (MB) in the left anterior descending artery (LAD). OBJECTIVE: To assess coronary CT angiography (CCTA)-based vascular radiomics for predicting proximal plaque development in LAD MB. METHODS: Patients with repeated CCTA scans showing LAD MB without proximal plaque in index CCTA were included from Jinling Hospital as development set. They were divided into training and internal testing in an 8:2 ratio. Patients from 4 other tertiary hospitals were set as external validation set. The endpoint was proximal plaque development of LAD MB in follow-up CCTA. Four vascular radiomics models were built: MB centerline (MB CL), proximal MB CL (pMB CL), MB cross section (MB CS), and proximal MB CS (pMB CS), whose performances were evaluated using area under the curve (AUC), integrated discrimination improvement (IDI) and net reclassification improvement (NRI). RESULTS: 295 patients were included in the development (n=192; median age, 54±11 years; 137 men) and external validation sets (n=103; median age, 57±9 years; 57 men). The pMB CS vascular radiomics model exhibited higher AUCs in training, internal test, and external sets (AUC=0.78, 0.75, 0.75) than the clinical and anatomical model (all p<0.05). Integration of the pMB CS vascular radiomics model significantly raised the AUC of the clinical and anatomical model from 0.56 to 0.75 (p=0.002), along with enhanced NRI (0.76 [0.37-1.14], p<0.001) and IDI (0.17 [0.07-0.26], p<0.001) in the external validation set. CONCLUSION: The CCTA-based pMB CS vascular radiomics model can predict plaque development in LAD MB.

Background: Recent genetic evidence supports that circulating biochemical and metabolic traits (BMTs) play a causal role in Alzheimer's disease (AD), which might be mediated by changes in brain structure. Here, we leveraged publicly available genome-wide association study data to investigate the intrinsic causal relationship between blood BMTs, brain image-derived phenotypes (IDPs) and AD. Methods: Utilizing the genetic variants associated with 760 blood BMTs and 172 brain IDPs as the exposure and the latest AD summary statistics as the outcome, we analyzed the causal relationship between blood BMTs and brain IDPs and AD by using a two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) method. Additionally, we used two-step/mediation MR to study the mediating effect of brain IDPs between blood BMTs and AD. Results: Twenty-five traits for genetic evidence supporting a causal association with AD were identified, including 12 blood BMTs and 13 brain IDPs. For BMTs, glutamine consistently reduced the risk of AD in 3 datasets. For IDPs, specific alterations of cortical thickness (atrophy in frontal pole and insular lobe, and incrassation in superior parietal lobe) and subcortical volume (atrophy in hippocampus and its subgroups, left accumbens and left choroid plexus, and expansion in cerebral white matter) are vulnerable to AD. In the two-step/mediation MR analysis, superior parietal lobe, right hippocampal fissure and left accumbens were identified to play a potential mediating role among three blood BMTs and AD. Conclusions: The results obtained in our study suggest that 12 circulating BMTs and 13 brain IDPs play a causal role in AD. Importantly, a subset of BMTs exhibit shared genetic architecture and potentially causal relationships with brain structure, which may contribute to the alteration of brain IDPs in AD.

Background: Mpox re-emerged worldwide with the multi-country outbreaks that occurred in May 2022, threatening the public health of human beings. Methods: This rapid systematic review summarized mpox reinfection cases documented. Electronic databases (PubMed, MedRxiv, and Social Science Research Network) were searched without time limitation, using the keywords "mpox," "monkeypox," & "reinfection," "reoccur," "reoccurrence," "episode," and "relapse". All laboratory-confirmed cases of mpox reinfection published in the literature were included in this study. Results: A total of seven publications (nine cases) from Africa, Europe, and South America were included. All mpox reinfection cases were male, with a median age of 36; 88.89% of cases had unprotected sexual behaviors with other males before each illness episode. The average onset interval between the two episodes was about 4 months. Perianal lesions and lymphadenopathy were major symptoms in both episodes, and no differences in clinical severity were reported between the two episodes. The mean duration of the two episodes was approximately 22 days and 13 days, respectively; which the mean duration of the second episode was shorter than the first infection (t = 2.17, p = 0.0487). Sexually transmitted infections were commonly concurrent among most cases, accounting for 55.6% and 77.8% in the two episodes, respectively. Full vaccination against mpox was rare among reinfection cases. Conclusion: A second infection is possible even in a short period. Reinforcing monitoring, reducing high-risk behaviors, and heightening health education regarding mpox for high-risk populations are crucial to limit mpox spread, including persons with a history of mpox infection.

Robotic surgery is known as the "third technological revolution" in the field of surgery, and is an important milestone in the development of modern surgery. However, our country's innovative surgical robot industry is still in its early stages, and it is only being utilized in certain surgical fields. To explore the effectiveness of the application of domestic surgical robot in oral and maxillofacial surgery, the author successfully completed a case of benign parotid tumor resection with the assistance of a domestic autonomous robot. The operation was successful, facial nerve function was preserved, and postoperative wound healing was good.

OBJECTIVE: Cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) is a diagnostic tool that provides precise and reproducible information about cardiac structure, function, and tissue characterization, aiding in the monitoring of chemotherapy response in patients with light-chain cardiac amyloidosis (AL-CA). This study aimed to evaluate the feasibility of CMR in monitoring responses to chemotherapy in patients with AL-CA. MATERIALS AND METHODS: In this prospective study, we enrolled 111 patients with AL-CA (50.5% male; median age, 54 [interquartile range, 49-63] years). Patients underwent longitudinal monitoring using biomarkers and CMR imaging. At follow-up after chemotherapy, patients were categorized into superior and inferior response groups based on their hematological and cardiac laboratory responses to chemotherapy. Changes in CMR findings across therapies and differences between response groups were analyzed. RESULTS: Following chemotherapy (before vs. after), there were significant increases in myocardial T2 (43.6 ± 3.5 ms vs. 44.6 ± 4.1 ms; P = 0.008), recovery in right ventricular (RV) longitudinal strain (median of -9.6% vs. -11.7%; P = 0.031), and decrease in RV extracellular volume fraction (ECV) (median of 53.9% vs. 51.6%; P = 0.048). These changes were more pronounced in the superior-response group. Patients with superior cardiac laboratory response showed significantly greater reductions in RV ECV (-2.9% [interquartile range, -8.7%-1.1%] vs. 1.7% [-5.5%-7.1%]; P = 0.017) and left ventricular ECV (-2.0% [-6.0%-1.3%] vs. 2.0% [-3.0%-5.0%]; P = 0.01) compared with those with inferior response. CONCLUSION: Cardiac amyloid deposition can regress following chemotherapy in patients with AL-CA, particularly showing more prominent regression, possibly earlier, in the RV. CMR emerges as an effective tool for monitoring associated tissue characteristics and ventricular functional recovery in patients with AL-CA undergoing chemotherapy, thereby supporting its utility in treatment response assessment.

Tumor-derived extracellular vesicles (EVs) carry tumor-specific proteins and RNAs, thus becoming prevalent targets for early cancer diagnosis. However, low expression of EV cargos and insufficient diagnostic power of individual biomarkers hindered EVs application in clinical practice. Herein, we propose a multiplex Codetection platform of proteins and RNAs (Co-PAR) for EVs. Co-PAR adopted a pair of antibody-DNA probes to recognize the same target protein, which in turn formed a double-stranded DNA. Thus, the target protein could be quantified by detecting the double-stranded DNA via qPCR. Meanwhile, qRT-PCR simultaneously quantified the target RNAs. Thus, with a regular qPCR instrument, Co-PAR enabled the codetection of multiplex proteins and RNAs, with the sensitivity of 102 EVs/µL (targeting CD63) and 1 EV/µL (targeting snRNA U6). We analyzed the coexpressions of three protein markers (CD63, GPC-1, HER2) and three RNA markers (snRNA U6, GPC-1 mRNA, miR-10b) on EVs from three pancreatic cell lines and 30 human plasma samples using Co-PAR. The diagnostic accuracy of the 6-biomarker combination reached 92.9%, which was at least 6.2% higher than that of 3-biomarker combinations and at least 13.5% higher than that of 6 single biomarkers. Co-PAR, as a multiparameter detection platform for EVs, has great potential in early disease diagnosis.

SLC45A1 encodes a glucose transporter protein highly expressed in the brain. Mutations in SLC45A1 may lead to neurological diseases and developmental disorders, but its exact role is poorly understood. DNA G-quadruplexes (DNA G4s) are stable structures formed by four guanine bases and play a role in gene regulation and genomic stability. Changes in DNA G4s may affect brain development and function. The mechanism linking alterations in DNA G-quadruplex structures to SLC45A1 pathogenicity remains unknown. In this study, we identify a functional DNA G-quadruplex and its key binding site on SLC45A1 (NM_001080397.3: exon 2: c.449 G>A: p.R150K). This variant results in the upregulation of mRNA and protein expression, which may lead to intellectual developmental disorder with neuropsychiatric features. Mechanistically, the mutation is found to disrupt DNA G-quadruplex structures on SLC45A1, leading to transcriptional enhancement and a gain-of-function mutation, which further causes increased expression and function of the SLC45A1 protein. The identification of the functional DNA G-quadruplex and its effects on DNA G4s may provide new insights into the genetic basis of SLC45A1 pathogenicity and highlight the importance of DNA G4s of SLC45A1 in regulating gene expression and brain development.

The light-harvesting (LH) and reaction center (RC) core complex of purple bacterium Roseiflexus castenholzii, B880-B800-RC, are different from those of the typical photosynthetic unit, (B850-B800)x-B880-RC. To investigate the excitation flowing dynamics in this unique complex, two-dimensional electronic spectroscopy is employed. The obtained time constants for the exciton relaxation in B880, exciton relaxation in B800, B800 → B880 energy transfer (EET), and B880 → closed RC EET are 43 fs, 177 fs, 1.9 ps, and 205 ps, respectively. These time constants result in an overall EET efficiency similar to that of the typical photosynthetic unit. Analysis of the oscillatory signals reveals that while several vibronic coherences are involved in the exciton relaxation process, only one prominent vibronic coherence, with a frequency of 27 cm-1 and coupled to the B880 electronic transition, may contribute to the B800 → B880 EET process.

The low ionic conductivity of LiCoO2 limits the rate performance of the overall electrode. Here, a polymeric composite binder composed of poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) and poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) is reported to efficiently improve the ion transport in the LiCoO2 electrode. This is where the lithium-ion transport channel constructed by oxygen atoms of PEO can afford the electrode a lithium-ion transport number (tLi+) as high as 0.70 with the optimized composite binder in a mass ratio of 1:1 (O5F5), significantly higher than that of traditional PVDF (0.44). As a result, the O5F5 binder endows the LiCoO2 electrode with an impressive capacity of 90 mAh g-1 even at 15 C, which is twice as high as the PVDF electrode. In addition, the initial Coulombic efficiency of the LiCoO2 electrode with the O5F5 binder is close to 100% and the capacity retention is 91% after 100 cycles at 1 C. This study overcomes the problem of slow ion conductivity of the LiCoO2 electrode, providing an easy method for developing high-rate cathode binders.
