RESUMEN

PURPOSE: Prevalence of osteoporotic fracture (OPF) is increasing with ageing, resulting in a significant financial burden for healthcare. However, research on the nationwide epidemiological data of OPF in Chinese elderly is still scarce. The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence and risk factors of OPF in Chinese population aged 60 years or order. METHODS: A cross-sectional survey was conducted in an elderly Chinese population in five centres. Questionnaire investigation and imaging examination were taken in all participants to identify OPF prevalence and risk factors. Diagnosis of OPF was determined based on imaging of vertebral fractures or history of fall-related fractures. We then used multivariate logistic regression model to analyze the associations between the potential risk factors and OPF. RESULTS: The overall prevalence of OPF in population aged 60 years or older was 24.7% (1,071/4,331), showing an increasing trend with age (P < 0.001). The prevalence of OPF was geographically distinct (P < 0.001), but similar between men and women (P > 0.05). Up to 96.8% of OPFs consisted of vertebral fractures, especially involving T11, T12, and L1 segments. Advanced age (≥ 80), vision loss, severe hearing loss, multiple exercise forms, chronic kidney disease, osteoarthritis, and trauma-related vertebral fractures were significantly associated with risk factors, while education level and vitamin D supplementation were associated with protective factors of OPF. CONCLUSION: High prevalence of OPF is a serious threat to bone health among elderly people in China. There is an urgent need for effective strategies to diagnose, prevent, and treat OPF in elderly adults.

INTRODUCTION: This study aimed to investigate the renal safety of Zoledronic Acid (ZOL) in patients with osteoporosis (OP). METHODS: A total of 1379 patients (baseline estimated glomerular filtration rate, eGFR ≥ 60 mL/min/1.73 m2) with primary OP who received ZOL from January 2008 to October 2020 at our hospital were retrospectively analyzed. Baseline and the changes in renal function within 1 year following infusions were collected, the incidence of renal impairment (eGFR < 60 mL/min/1.73 m2 or a > 25% reduction in the eGFR from baseline) was noted and the risk factors were analyzed. Furthermore, the changes in renal function between a 3-year consecutive infusion and a single infusion of ZOL were compared. RESULTS: Renal impairment occurred in 8.05% of patients, who with a significantly higher age, Charlson Comorbidity Index (CCI), smoking history, combination of hypertension or diabetes mellitus and worse renal function indicators (all P < 0.05). Binary logistic regression analysis showed that higher CCI (≥5) or smoking history or the baseline eGFR <90 mL/min/1.73 m2 were the risk factors for renal impairment (all P < 0.05). Patients of 3-year continuous infusion group had a significantly greater drop in the eGFR levels than the single infusion group after 1 year of infusion(s) (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: Attention should be given to possible potential renal impairment following ZOL infusion in clinical practice for the management of OP, particularly in patients with higher CCI (≥5) or smoking history or the baseline eGFR <90 mL/min/1.73 m2. Continuous infusion of ZOL exerts a significant impact on renal function when compared to single infusion and intensive monitoring of renal function is necessary.

RESUMEN

A Gram-stain-negative, aerobic, short rod-shaped, yellow bacterium, designated SYSU DXS3180T, was isolated from forest soil of Danxia Mountain in PR China. Growth occurred at 15-37 °C (optimum, 28-30 °C), pH 6.0-10.0 (optimum, pH 7.0-8.0) and with 0-2.0 % NaCl (optimum, 0-0.5 %, w/v). Strain SYSU DXS3180T was positive for hydrolysis of Tween 20, Tween 60, Tween 80 and starch, but negative for urease, H2S production, nitrate reduction, Tween 40 and gelatin. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene and genome sequences showed that SYSU DXS3180T belonged to the family Chitinophagaceae. The closely related members were Foetidibacter luteolus YG09T (94.2 %), Limnovirga soli KCS-6T (93.9 %) and Filimonas endophytica SR 2-06T (93.7 %). The genome of strain SYSU DXS3180T was 7287640 bp with 5782 protein-coding genes, and the genomic DNA G+C content was 41.4 mol%. The main respiratory quinone was MK-7 and the major fatty acids (>10 %) were iso-C15 : 0, iso-C17 : 0 3-OH and iso-C15 : 1 G. The major polar lipids consisted of phosphatidylethanolamine, two unidentified aminolipids and two unidentified polar lipids. Based on the phylogenetic, phenotypic and chemotaxonomic characteristics, strain SYSU DXS3180T is proposed to represent a novel species of a novel genus named Danxiaibacter flavus gen. nov., sp. nov., within the family Chitinophagaceae. The type strain is SYSU DXS3180T (=KCTC 92895T=GDMCC 1.3825 T).

A pink-pigmented bacterium, designated as strain SYSU D00476T, was isolated from sandy soil collected from the Kumtag Desert in China. Colonies were opaque, smooth and of a slight convexity with a clearly defined border. Cells were rod-shaped, Gram-stain-negative, catalase- and oxidase-positive. Growth occurred at 4-45 ℃ (optimum at 28-30 ℃), pH 6.0-8.0 (optimum at 7.0), and with 0-3.0% NaCl (w/v, optimum at 0-2.0%). Major fatty acids (> 10%) were C16:0, summed feature 3 (C16:1 ω7c and/or C16:1 ω6c), iso-C17:0 3-OH and iso-C15:0. Polar lipids comprised of three unidentified polar aminolipids (ALs), two unidentified aminophosphoglycolipids (APLs), one unidentified glycolipid (GL) and three unidentified phospholipids (PLs). The predominant respiratory quinone was MK-7. The genomic DNA G + C content was 50.5%. The low digital DNA-DNA hybridization (dDDH, 27.4%) and average nucleotide identity (ANI, 85%) values between strain SYSU D00476T and Telluribacter humicola KCTC 42819T indicated that SYSU D00476T represent a distinct species. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences indicated that strain SYSU D00476T belonged to the genus Telluribacter, showing 97.5% similarity with T. humicola KCTC 42819T. All these data support that strain SYSU D00476T represent a novel species of the genus Telluribacter within the family Spirosomataceae, named as Telluribacter roseus sp. nov. The type strain is SYSU D00476T (= KCTC 82285T = CGMCC 1.18647T = MCCC 1K04983T).

OBJECTIVE: To explore the safety and efficacy of ultrasound-guided microwave ablation (MWA) for tertiary hyperparathyroidism (THPT) in patients with renal transplantation (RT). METHODS: In total, fifteen patients with THPT after renal transplantation who underwent MWA were enrolled in the study. The pre- and post-MWA intact parathyroid hormone (iPTH), serum calcium, phosphorus, creatinine, urea nitrogen and estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) values were compared. RESULTS: A total of 38 parathyroid hyperplastic nodules in 15 RT patients were treated with ultrasound-guided MWA. The mean (median, range) size of the hyperplastic parathyroid nodules was 11.5 mm (11 mm, 5-25 mm), and the average (median, range) ablation time was 163.5s (121 s, 44-406 s). The average levels of serum iPTH and calcium at 1 d, 7 d, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 1 year post-MWA and at the end of follow-up were significantly lower than those pre-MWA (all p < 0.05). Compared with the pre-MWA value (0.76 mmol/L), the serum phosphorus levels at 1 d post-MWA (0.63 mmol/L) were significantly decreased, and those at 7 d, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 1 year post-MWA and at the end of follow-up were significantly increased, but all were within the normal range. There was no significant difference in serum creatinine and eGFR pre-MWA and post-MWA. No major MWA-related complications occurred. CONCLUSION: Ultrasound-guided MWA shows potential as a viable treatment for THPT in RT patients. However, further studies are required to confirm its safety and effectiveness in larger cohorts of longer duration.

The trachea tube is the exclusive route to allow gas exchange between the external environment and the lungs. Recent studies have shown the critical role of mesenchymal cells in tracheal tubulogenesis. Improved methods for studying the dynamics of the tracheal mesenchyme development are needed to investigate the cellular and molecular mechanisms during tracheal tubulogenesis. Here, we describe a detailed protocol for a systematic analysis of tracheal tube development to enable observing tracheal smooth muscle (SM) and cartilage ring formation. We describe immunostaining, confocal and stereomicroscopy imaging, and quantitative methods to study the process of tracheal SM and cartilage ring development, including SM cell alignment, polarization, and changes in cell shape as well as mesenchymal condensation. The technologies and approaches described here not only improve analysis of the patterning of the developing trachea but also help uncover the mechanisms underlying airway disease. This protocol also provides a useful technique to analyze cell organization, polarity, and nuclear shape in other organ systems.

Two Gram-stain-negative strains, designated as SYSU D00286T and SYSU D00782, were isolated from a sand sample collected from the Kumtag Desert in Xinjiang, north-west China. Cells were aerobic, non-motile and positive for both oxidase and catalase. Growth occurred at 4-37 °C (optimum, 28-30 °C), pH 6.0-7.0 (optimum, pH 7.0) and NaCl concentration of 0-1.5 % (w/v; optimum, 0%). Growth was observed on Reasoner's 2A agar and nutrient agar, but not on Luria-Bertani agar and trypticase soy agar. The polar lipids were identified as diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylglycerol, three unidentified aminolipids, one unidentified glycolipid and two unidentified phospholipids. The major respiratory quinone was ubiquinone-10 and the major fatty acids (>10 %) were C16 : 0 and summed feature 8 (C18 : 1 ω7c and/or C18 : 1 ω6c). The 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity between strains SYSU D00286T and SYSU D00782 was 100%, and their average nucleotide identity (ANI), average amino acid identity and (AAI) digital DNA-DNA hybridization (dDDH) values were all 100.0 %. Phylogenetic analysis indicated that these two strains belong to the same species of the genus Rubellimicrobium and show the highest sequence similarity to Rubellimicrobium rubrum KCTC 72461T (98.2 %) and Rubellimicrobium roseum CCTCC AA 208029T (97.5 %). The ANI, AAI and dDDH values between SYSU D00286T (as well as SYSU D00782) and the other five Rubellimicrobium type strains were all less than or equal to 83.2, 80.1 and 23.6 %, respectively. Based on their phylogenetic, phenotypic and chemotaxonomical features, strains SYSU D00286T and SYSU D00782 represent a novel species of the genus Rubellimicrobium, for which the name Rubellimicrobium arenae sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is SYSU D00286T (=MCCC 1K04981T=CGMCC 1.8626T=KCTC 82271T).

Shifts in plant phenology influence ecosystem structures and functions, yet how multiple global change drivers interact to affect phenology remains elusive. We conducted a meta-analysis of 242 published articles to assess interactions between warming (W) and other global change drivers including nitrogen addition (N), increased precipitation (IP), decreased precipitation (DP) and elevated CO2 (eCO2 ) on multiple phenophases in experimental studies. We show that leaf out and first flowering were most strongly affected by warming, while warming and decreased precipitation were the most pronounced drivers for leaf colouring. Moreover, interactions between warming and other global change drivers were common and both synergistic and antagonistic interactions were observed: interactions W + IP and W + eCO2 were frequently synergistic, whereas interactions W + N and W + DP were mostly antagonistic. These findings demonstrate that global change drivers often affect plant phenology interactively. Incorporating the multitude of interactions into models is crucial for accurately predicting plant responses to global changes.

Tin-lead (Sn-Pb) perovskite solar cells (PSCs) with near-ideal bandgap still lag behind the pure lead PSCs. Disordered heterojunctions caused by inhomogeneous Sn/Pb ratio in the binary perovskite film induce large recombination loss. Here, an Sn-Pb perovskite film is reported with homogeneous component and energy distribution by introducing hydrazine sulfate (HS) in Sn perovskite precursor. HS can form hydrogen bond network and coordinate with FASnI3 thus no longer bond with Pb2+ , which reduces the crystallization rate of tin perovskite to the level of lead analog. The strong bonding between SO4 2- and Sn2+ can also suppress its oxidation. As a result, the Sn-Pb PSCs with HS exhibit a significantly improved VOC of 0.91 V along with a high efficiency of 23.17%. Meanwhile, the hydrogen bond interaction network, strong bonding between Sn2+ and sulfate ion also improve the thermal, storage, and air stability of resulting devices.

BACKGROUND: Central catheter-related thrombosis (CRT) is the most common catheter-related complication in patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) but is often underappreciated and misdiagnosed by radiologist. PURPOSE: To find the computed tomography angiography (CTA) characteristics of central CRT, then raise the diagnosis of this disorder. MATERIAL AND METHODS: A total of 301 eligible patients with ESRD who experienced both chest multi-phase multidetector CTA (MDCTA) and digital subtraction angiography were enrolled in the final analysis. The location, shape, and related signs of the central CRT in MDCTA images were evaluated. Independent-samples T test, chi-square test, and binary logistic regression were analyzed using SPSS software. RESULTS: In total, 166 patients were found to have CRT using MDCTA, and this was verified by DSA. Central CRT was usually irregular in the superior vena cava segment, and the angle of the contact area between central CRT and catheter was <180° (all P < 0.05). Age, collateral circulation, and venous stenosis were shown to have significant differences when compared to patients without CRT (all P < 0.05), but there were no significant differences about the sex or catheter insertion site. In addition, age and collateral circulation were the factors found to be significantly associated with thrombosis (P < 0.05). In particular, the thrombosis was 2.213 times more likely to be found in those patients with collateral circulation (odds ratio = 2.213, 95% confidence interval = 1.236-3.961). CONCLUSION: Chest multi-phase MDCTA can effectively reduce the missed diagnosis and misdiagnosis of central CRT. It is worth paying more attention to the central CRT especially when the collateral circulation is observed.

Global warming and intensified human activities have led to regional climate instability with increasing frequency and the persistence of high-temperature climate events. Eco-environmental protection and socio-economic development have been faced with rigorous threats. Taking the monthly maximum temperatures from 1950 to 2019 as the basic data source, the spatial-temporal evolution characteristics of seasonal average maximum temperature (AMT) were discerned using the Mann-Kendall test and unary linear regression method in China from 1950 to 2019. Combined with linear correlation, partial linear correlation, and wavelet analysis, the correlation between seasonal AMT characteristics and atmospheric circulations was analyzed quantitatively. The results showed that:① the AMT in all seasons had a significant upward trend, with an increase of 1.21, 0.08, 1.81, and 0.25℃ in spring, summer, autumn, and winter, respectively. The abrupt change times of the AMT were concentrated in the 1990s to the early 21st century. ② In terms of spatial distribution, except for in summer, the average trend rates of AMT in other seasons increased gradually from south to north, although the increasing degrees were different. Among them, the AMT change rate in spring-winter was the fastest in northeast and northwest China. ③ There were complex correlations between the AMT of every season and atmospheric circulation factors, and the distribution of the interrelation energy varied significantly in different frequency domains. Specifically, the Pacific Decadal Oscillation had a significant negative correlation with AMT in summer. The North Atlantic Oscillation had an active effect on AMT changes in summer, autumn, and winter. The Arctic Oscillation had a significant positive driving effect on AMT in all seasons, and there were significant positive or negative influences on the short-or long-term changes of AMT in spring and summer due to the different EI Niño-Southern Oscillation years. These results could provide a theoretical basis and technical reference for China to formulate scientific and effective response plans of climate change.

Soil nutrient loss, which leads to low plant utilization, has become an urgent issue. Graphene can improve soil fertilizer-holding properties given its small size effect, strong adsorption properties, and large specific surface area. Herein, different amounts of graphene were added to soil samples to study its effect on soil nutrient retention and growth of pepper seedlings. The colloidal double electric layer theory forms the basis for an analysis of variations in soil nutrient concentration through measurements of the zeta potential, which is affected by variations in ion concentrations in soil colloids. We measured the zeta potential of graphene and soil mixed colloids and found that graphene could increase the concentration of nutrient ions in soil colloids. In addition, graphene reduced the loss of nutrients; increased the contents of ammonium nitrogen, effective phosphorus, and fast-acting potassium in the soil after leaching; and enhanced the stability of soil aggregates after leaching. In addition, pepper seedlings grown under graphene treatment for 60 days outperformed seedlings grown without graphene treatment, in terms of plant height and nutrient content. This study demonstrates that the addition of graphene to soil can reduce nutrient loss and promote fertility and plant growth.

PURPOSE OF REVIEW: Pseudohypoparathyroidism (PHP) is a disorder caused by mutations and/or epigenetic changes at the complex GNAS locus. It is characterized by hypocalcemia, hyperphosphatemia, and an elevated parathyroid hormone concentration secondary to the resistance of target tissues to the biological actions of parathyroid hormone. PHP is divided into several subtypes with different yet overlapping phenotypes. Research on the bone status in patients with PHP is sparse and has yielded inconsistent results. This review was performed to summarize the current knowledge on the bone phenotypes and possible mechanisms of PHP. RECENT FINDINGS: Patients with PHP exhibit highly variable bone phenotypes and increased concentrations of bone turnover markers. Long-standing elevation of the parathyroid hormone concentration may lead to hyperparathyroid bone diseases, including rickets and osteitis fibrosa. Compared with normal controls, patients with PHP may exhibit similar, increased, or decreased bone mineral density. Higher bone mineral density has been found in patients with PHP type 1A than in normal controls, whereas decreased bone mass, osteosclerosis, and osteitis fibrosa cystica have been reported in patients with PHP type 1B, indicating more variable bone phenotypes in PHP type 1B. Bone tissues show partial sensitivity to parathyroid hormone in patients with PHP, leading to heterogeneous reactions to parathyroid hormone in different individuals and even in different regions of bone tissues in the same individual. Regions rich in cancellous bone are more sensitive and show more obvious improvement after therapy. Active vitamin D and calcium can significantly improve abnormal bone metabolism in patients with PHP.

A novel orange-coloured bacterium, designated strain SYSU D00508T, was isolated from a sandy soil sampled from the Kumtag Desert in China. Strain SYSU D00508T was aerobic, Gram-stain-negative, oxidase-positive, catalase-positive and non-motile. Growth occurred at 4-45°C (optimum 28-30°C), pH 6.0-9.0 (optimum pH 7.0-8.0) and with 0-2.5 % NaCl (w/v, optimum 0-1.0 %). The major polar lipids consisted of phosphatidylethanolamine (PE), unidentified aminolipids (AL1-3) and unidentified polar lipids (L1-5) were also detected. The major respiratory quinone was MK-7 and the major fatty acids (>10 %) were iso-C17 : 0 3-OH, iso-C15 : 0 and iso-C15 : 1 G. The genomic DNA G+C content was 42.6 %. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences indicated that strain SYSU D00508T belonged to the family Chitinophagaceae and showed 93.9 % (Segetibacter koreensis DSM18137T), 92.9 % (Segetibacter aerophilus NBRC 106135T), 93.0 % (Terrimonas soli JCM 32095T) and 92.8 % (Parasegetibacter terrae JCM 19942T) similarities. Based on the phylogenetic, phenotypic and chemotaxonomic data, strain SYSU D00508T is proposed to represent a novel species of a new genus, named Aridibaculum aurantiacum gen. nov., sp. nov., within the family Chitinophagaceae. The type strain is SYSU D00508T (=KCTC 82286T=CGMCC 1.18648T=MCCC 1K05005T).

RESUMEN

An actinobacterium, designated as SYSU T00001T, was isolated from a tidal flat sediment sample from Guangdong province, China. Cells were Gram-stain-positive, aerobic, motile and short rod-shaped. Colonies on marine agar 2216 were smooth, yellow-pigmented, and circular with low convexity. The isolate was able to grow at the temperature range 4-37 °C (optimum 30 °C), at pH 4.0-10.0 (optimum 7.0) and in the presence of 0-10% (w/v) NaCl. The major menaquinones were MK-11 and MK-10. The cell wall contained alanine, glutamic acid, lysine and ornithine. The major fatty acids were C19:0 cyclo ω8c (35.7%) and anteiso C15:0 (26.0%). The polar lipids consisted of one diphosphatidyl glycerol, one unidentified glycolipid and one unknown lipid. Whole genome sequencing of strain SYSU T00001T revealed 2,837,702 bp with a DNA G + C content of 67.8%. Phylogenetic analyses clearly demonstrated that strain SYSU T00001T belonged to the genus Salinibacterium, and the highest 16S rRNA gene similarity to Salinibacterium hongtaonis 194T (97.8%). The ANI and dDDH values of strain SYSU T00001T relative to Salinibacterium hongtaonis 194T were 74.5% and 19.5%, respectively. According to our data, strain SYSU T00001T represents a novel species of the genus Salinibacterium, for which the name Salinibacterium sedimenticola sp. nov. is proposed, the type strain is SYSU T00001T (= GDMCC 1.3283T = KCTC 49758T).

RESUMEN

PURPOSE: To investigate the use of an 80-kVp tube voltage combined with a deep learning image reconstruction (DLIR) algorithm in coronary CT angiography (CCTA) for overweight patients to reduce radiation and contrast doses in comparison with the 120-kVp protocol and adaptive statistical iterative reconstruction (ASIR-V). METHODS: One hundred consecutive CCTA patients were prospectively enrolled and randomly divided into a low-dose group (n = 50) with 80-kVp, smart mA for noise index (NI) of 36 HU, contrast dose rate of 18 mgI/kg/s and DLIR and 60 % ASIR-V and a standard-dose group (n = 50) with 120-kVp, smart mA for NI of 25 HU, contrast dose rate of 32 mgI/kg/s and 60 % ASIR-V. The radiation and contrast dose, subjective image quality score, attenuation values, noise, signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), and contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR) were compared. RESULTS: The low-dose group achieved a significant reduction in the effective radiation dose (1.01 ± 0.45 mSv vs 1.85 ± 0.40 mSv, P < 0.001) and contrast dose (33.69 ± 3.87 mL vs 59.11 ± 5.60 mL, P < 0.001) compared to the standard-dose group. The low-dose group with DLIR presented similar enhancement but lower noise, higher SNR and CNR and higher subjective quality scores than the standard-dose group. Moreover, the same patient comparison in the low-dose group between different reconstructions showed that DLIR images had slightly and consistently higher CT values in small vessels, indicating better defined vessels, much lower image noise, higher SNR and CNR and higher subjective quality scores than ASIR-V images (all P < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS: The application of 80-kVp and DLIR allows for significant radiation and dose reduction while further improving image quality in CCTA for overweight patients.

Objective: Vitamin D and thyroid hormones have crucial roles in bone metabolism. This study aims to explore the effects of vitamin D on bone metabolism in mice with thyrotoxicosis and its mechanisms. Methods: 12-week-old mice were randomly divided into 6 groups (6 mice/group), the control (CON) group, vitamin D (VD) group, low-dose LT4 (Low LT4) group, low-dose LT4+VD (Low LT4+VD) group, high-dose LT4 (High LT4) group, high-dose LT4+VD (High LT4+VD) group, LT4 was provided every day and vitamin D3 every other day for 12 weeks. Thyroid function, 25-hydroxy vitamin D, type I collagen carboxy-terminal peptide (CTX), and type I procollagen amino-terminal peptide were determined. In addition, microcomputed tomography, bone histology and histomorphometry, a three-point bending test, and the mRNA expression of osteoprotegerin (OPG), receptor activator of nuclear factor-κB ligand (RANKL) and ß-catenin in bone were conducted. Results: The BMD of lumbar vertebrae and femur decreased and the bone microstructure was destroyed significantly in thyrotoxicosis mice. Addition of vitamin D improved the BMD and bone microstructure only in the low LT4+VD group. Mice with thyrotoxicosis had a significantly higher level of CTX (P<0.05), which was decreased by treatment with vitamin D (P<0.05). The eroded surface per bone surface (Er. S/BS) of the cancellous bone and elongated surface/endocortical perimeter (Er. S/E Pm) of the cortical bone significantly increased in the Low LT4 and High LT4 groups (P<0.05). Treatment with vitamin D significantly decreased the Er. S/BS and Er. S/E Pm. But, treatment with vitamin D did not significantly improve the toughness and rigidity of bones. The ratio of OPG to RANKL and mRNA expression of ß-catenin in the Low LT4+VD group were higher than that in the Low LT4 group (P<0.05). Conclusion: In mice with thyrotoxicosis, treatment with vitamin D can inhibit bone resorption and improve the BMD and trabecular bone architecture by increasing the ratio of OPG to RANKL and upregulating the expression of Wnt/ß-catenin.

Background: Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) has been widely studied for treatment of patients with prolonged disorders of consciousness (PDOC). The dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) is a hot target for intervention, but some controversies remain. Purpose: This review aimed to systematically investigate the therapeutic effects of DLPFC-anodal-tDCS for patients with PDOC through a meta-analysis approach. Data sources: Searches for relevant articles available in English were conducted using EMBASE, Medline, Web of Science, EBSCO, and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials from inception until March 26, 2022. Study selection: All randomized parallel or cross-over controlled trials comparing the effect of intervention with active-tDCS and Sham-tDCS on Coma Recovery Scale Revised (CRS-R) score in individuals with PDOC were included. Data extraction: Two authors independently extracted data, assessed the methodological quality, and rated each study. Data synthesis: Ten randomized parallel or cross-over controlled trials were eligible for systematic review, and eight of the studies involving 165 individuals were identified as eligible for meta-analysis. Compared with Sham-tDCS, the use of anode-tDCS over DLPFC improved the CRS-R score (SMD = 0.71; 95% CI: 0.47-0.95, I 2 = 10%). Patients with PDOC classified as MCS and clinically diagnosed as CVA or TBI may benefit from anode-tDCS. Limitations: Failure to evaluate the long-term effects and lack of quantitative analysis of neurological examination are the main limitations for the application of anode-tDCS. Conclusions: Anodal-tDCS over the left DLPFC may be advantageous to the recovery of patients with MCS and clinically diagnosed with CVA or TBI. There is a lack of evidence to support the duration of the disease course will limit the performance of the treatment. Further studies are needed to explore the diversity of stimulation targets and help to improve the mesocircuit model. A Gram-stain-negative, aerobic, short rod-shaped strain, designated as SYSU D60009T, was isolated from a dry sandy soil sample collected from the Gurbantunggut Desert in Xinjiang, northwest China. Strain SYSU D60009T was observed to grow at 15-42 °C (optimum at 37 °C), pH 4.0-10.0 (optimum at 7.0), and with 0-0.5% (w/v) NaCl (optimum, 0%). The strain grew well on R2A agar, and colonies were smooth, white-pigmented, and circular with low convexity. The polar lipids consisted of phosphatidylethanolamine, aminolipid, aminophospholipid, and unknown lipids. The major cellular fatty acid (> 10%) was C16:0 and the predominant respiratory quinone was Q-10. Whole genome sequencing of strain SYSU D60009T revealed 6,132,710 bp with a DNA G + C content of 63.6%. The ANI and dDDH values of strains SYSU D60009T to Dongia mobilis CGMCC 1.7660 T were 72.8% and 19.0%, respectively. Based on the phenotypic, phylogenetic, and chemotaxonomic properties, strain SYSU D60009T represents a novel species of the genus Dongia, for which the name Dongia deserti sp. nov. is proposed, the type strain is SYSU D60009T (= CGMCC 1.16441 T = KCTC 52790 T).
