RESUMEN

Effective concentration of antioxidants and its reactivity toward peroxil radicals (constant k7) have been measured by the chemiluminescence technique for flaxseed oil. Effective concentration of antioxidants is shown to depend on the technology of producing flaxseed oil; period of seed storage before use; and storing duration of flaxseed oil also. Minor component content of flaxseed oil, which may be the members of antioxidant pool, has been quantitatively estimated.

RESUMEN

Gas liquid chromatography and chromato-mass-spectrometry were used to study Queen bee jelly fatty acid composition. Trans-10-hydroxy-2-decenoic acid was determined as the mane component of Queen bee jelly fatty acid fraction. Mass-fragmentography GC-MS method was developed for determination of the trace trans-10-hydroxy-2-decenoic acid to authenticate Queen bee jelly in products and BAS.

RESUMEN

135 pediatric patients receiving hypoallergic diet were included into the study group. The control group consisted of 20 children. The impact of PUFA omega-3 biologically active supplements (polyen, prima-Oil) was studied in hypoallergic rations. Biochemical indices were simultaneously investigated. The revealed dynamic changes of fatty acid spectrum in plasma and red cell membranes, cellular and humoral immunity status and eicosanoids synthesis were followed by positive clinical changes. Diets enriched with biologically active supplementation (PUPA omega-3) can be recommended for application in pediatric practice.

RESUMEN

The influence of antiatherosclerotic diet with including 15 g preparation "Eikovit" containing fat of freshwater fish on fat acid composition of erythrocytes membrane was studied in 399 patients with ishemic heart disease and hyperlipidemia. Against a background of positive influence on clinical symptoms of diseases, lipids of blood serum, homeostasis expressed influence of PUFA omega-3 in "Eikovit" on biomembrane fat acid composition was noted. It was shown sharp increasing a quota an eicosapentaenic acid by simultaneous reducing PUFA omega-6 level.

RESUMEN

Fish oil preparation "Polyen" was used for treatment 21 patients with ulcerative diseases of the stomach or duodenum. The cicatrization of ulcer was diagnosed in 85% of patients treated by "Polyen" and in 60% of those who did not take fish oil. "Polyen" influenced fatty acid composition of erythrocyte membranes and lipid peroxidation. Authors draw a conclusion that omega-3 PUFA's can stimulate the reparative processes.

RESUMEN

A study of stability of oil solutions beta-carotene to oxidizing damage is carried out. As stabilizers were used dietary plant phospholipids produced by Krasnodar's company ECOTECH in concentrations 5, 10, 20% in a combination with alpha-tocopherol. Oxidizing changes in samples were evaluated by determination of peroxide level ('peroxidation number') and contents diene conjugates. Effect of these antioxidants was studied in experiments with accelerated oxidation at 60 C in darkness during 15 days. Phospholipids entered in a sample acted as antioxidants. Reverse correlation was found between quantity added phospholipids an level of accumulated primary peroxidation products. It was shown that during experimental oxidation together with oxidizing damage of oil the loss of beta-carotene was also occurred: without antioxidants on 68%, with alpha-tocopherol alone on 27%, with phospholipids and alpha-tocopherol on 34%. Phospholipids protect an oil from oxidizing damage not rendering of direct action on safety (-carotene being only as synergists in a combination with alpha-tocopherol. Phospholipids increase thus antioxidant potentiation of a product lying as consider in the basis of antioxidant action of beta-carotene.

RESUMEN

Purified diets for rats contained 24% fat, with presented with the mixture of sunflower and fish oils whose combination yielded ratios of omega 6 to omega 3 fatty acids equal to 99 0, 49 0, 5 2, 1.9 and 0.12. The alterations in fatty acid composition of blood plasma and the liver were noticed, which manifested in increased omega 3 fatty acid levels in proportion to their dietary content. The elevation of PUFA proportion in the diet increased TBA-reactive substances in the liver. Using radioimmunoassay the levels of PGF2 alpha, TxA2 and PGI2 were determined. The decrease of arachidonic acid as part of tissue lipids caused an inhibition of PGF2 alpha formation in the liver, TxA2 and PGI2 in blood plasma, that showed a possibility of influence the ratio omega 6/omega 3 PUFA in a diet on eicosanoid synthesis by substrate regulation. These results suggest that for characteristics of dietary fat the ratio omega 6/omega 3 PUFA as a criterion reflecting the biological action of two families of essential fatty acids should not be used.

RESUMEN

Adequately good consumption of beta-carotene was observed in patients with duodenal ulcer and erosive gastritis after daily treatment with 18 mg of the carotinoid used as 0.1% oil solution: concentration of beta-carotene was increased approximately 3-fold in blood serum of these patients. Concentration of retinol was not increased in blood serum after treatment with beta-carotene, thus indicating that the drug treatment was not dangerous. Treatment with beta-carotene led to improvement in the state of the antioxidative system of these patients as resistance of erythrocytes to peroxide hydrolysis was increased while content of malonic dialdehyde was decreased in blood serum. The carotene treatment contributed to arresting pain syndrome in patients with ulcers, to cicatrization of ulcers and to disappearance of gastric mucosal membrane erosion.

RESUMEN

The functional properties of serum albumin and hemoglobin were investigated in highly trained athletes. During adaptation to regular strenuous exercise, the metabolic pathway of omega 3 fatty acids intensified and the content of lipid peroxidation products in serum albumin increased. Also, hemoglobin affinity for molecular oxygen decreased and ATP concentration in red blood cells increased.

RESUMEN

The authors studied the influence of linseed oil, and mixtures of linseed and sunflower oils, in varying ratios, on the levels of cholesterol, low- and very low-density lipoproteins, high-density cholesterol, free and esterified cholesterol, and on the fatty-acid composition of low- and very low-density lipoproteins. In experiments on Wistar white rats linseed oil decreased cholesterol concentration, and the levels of low- and very low-density lipoproteins, as well as affected the fatty-acid composition of lipoproteins.

RESUMEN

The time course of a number of characteristics of protein and mineral metabolism was studied in 55 children suffering from renal diseases in the stage of chronic renal insufficiency. Use was made of the diets in which protein was restricted to a varying degree relatively to azotemia severity. It was shown that the diet with protein restriction up to 1.5-1.0 g/kg bw has a pronounced antiazotemic action. Therefore, it is desirable to administer it to patients with moderate and remarkable azotemia. In stable and pronounced azotemia, it is advisable to administer the diet with a sharp restriction to protein (up to 0.65 g/kg bw).

RESUMEN

Protein spectra of blood serum were studied in 25 children suffering from phenlyketonuria (PKU) by disc electrophoresis in polyacrylamide gel. 14 children were examined in the course of being given a specialized diet on the basis of berlafen and 11 children were examined after they were switched over to common diet. PKU patients had an increased protein content in the zone of transferrins. After switching over to common diet the patients demonstrated the reduced protein content, increased amount of postalbumins of medium and low electrophoretic mobility, and transferrins as well.
